Went in and asked if they had a relay for my mower as it didnt always want to start. Then they proceeded to tell me that those relays dont go bad and that I needed to check the battery. They just seemed very arrogant to me. Finally got them to sell me the part I needed and the mower works great. Sometimes the cotomers do know what they are talking about and need. If I wasnt in a hurry I would have just turned around left. Wont be back in.

Walked in to S&D and was immediately greeted and asked if she could help me and did she ever. I was looking for a Stihl weedeater and she blew me away with her knowledge of the products, accessories, and promotions. They didnt have the weedeater I picked but she found me one at another store in under two minutes. Excellent customer service had me leaving the store armed with knowledge and feeling confident in my purchase. Highly recommend!
As others have stated, Im not sure what these negative reviews are about. They are a small business and you may have to wait at the counter for help sometimes. I started researching ZTRs about a month ago and settled on a Hustler for two reasons. No.1 was the build quality and No.2 was the fact that they are made local (Excel Corp. / Hesston, KS). I wanted to support a local business ( I consider Hesston to be local) with my money since I own a small business in Wichita. I have purchased parts from S & D for years and they have always been very helpful so I chose them as the dealer I would purchase my Hustler Raptor X from. I originally requested a quote from S & D off of their website. I received a call from JJ later that day with a direct price quote. He told me I could come in any time and test drive one since I have never owned or ridden a ZTR. I went into the store the next day and was greeted by Stephanie who put me with David their mechanic who took me out to test drive the Raptor and explain the mower to me. David was very helpful and had answers to all of the questions I had. He was a top notch salesman even though he is not a salesman there. I went back inside to do some paperwork and arrange for delivery of the mower. While I was waiting I had a chance to watch Stephanie interact with several customers. I can tell you if you ever need a part or help with your equipment Stephanie knows her stuff. I was very impressed! My paperwork was handled by JJ who is also very knowledgeable and a good guy to deal with. He is a straight shooter. Overall I could not be happier with my new Hustler and S & D as a company. They will treat you fairly and give you the best deal possible. Good customer service is getting harder to come by these days and S & D definitely has great customer service. I do most of my own maintenance, but I am positive should I require service in the future, they will be able to handle any problem I may have. 5 stars and 2 thumbs up to S & D! Do business with these guys. They are top notch!!
Service was great. Stephanie is awesome and willing to help any way she can but she isnt the only one; I went in today for a coil and points for an old saw, met David and he searched for 10 minutes, finally found one, made sure it fit my saw, then asked if I needed pointers or anything else. Its isnt the cheapest shop around but, for the service, Ill take it, recommend it, and will gladly go back. Actually going back for more money morning.
Good service and customer oriented
Not a good experience, I went there looking for a small piece for my trimmer, and they said they had that kind of part, but for some reason they wouldnt sell it to me with out having the model number, I know they couldve sell it to me or ay least try to help me like the guys at another place did, so I know where Im going next time.
I TOOK MY CHAIN SAW IN FOR BASIC SERVICE AS IT WOULD NOT START. THE STAFF PERSON WHO GREETED ME AT THE COUNTER IMMEDIATELY SMILED AND SAID ALL WAS GOOD, THEY WOULD TAKE CARE OF MY NEEDS.I GAVE THEM A GO AHEAD TO FIX IF UNDER $100 OR THEY WERE TO CALL ME. THEY CALLED ME AND INFORMED ME THAT MY CHAINSAW WAS READY AND IT THE TOTAL WAS MUCH LESS THAN WHAT I EXPECTED.I HAVE USED S & D FOR MANY YEARS, YET TOOK THE TIME TO GIVE THEM THIS CREDIT OF GREAT SERVICE.THANK YOU
You know this place has parts I was needing and at an affordable cost. The only downfall I had seen was even though my part was good they kept insisting the part was needing to be replaced which would have cost me quite a pretty penny. Luckily I only bought what I needed and my chainsaw works great now so I would still recommend them and know what you need.

2 weeks earlier I bought a new mower from the OTHER STIHL dealer on South West street.No “hello” when walking thru their door, had to find someone to help me, they had very little product knowledge. After purchase no “thank you”. Man helped me put it in my truck!Then visited dealer on South Rock Road, not much better service after sales person yelled across the store if I found what I needed.Then S&D yesterday! Wow the woman knows her stuff, asked about my needs and gave a great recommendation for new STIHL trimmer, blower and accessories. Registered my product, gave promotions on products, put I together and showed me how it works. While waiting on my purchase she helped several others and was courteous and very knowledgeable.At least one great shop in Wichita, she and the owner provide excellent customer service.
If I could put a negative star rating I would. This place is a joke. I took my chainsaw in for a simple pull cord repair and they said it would be ready in a week. After not hearing from them I contacted them and they said they havent gotten to it and that they would call me when it was done. I didnt hear from them for 2 weeks and went in to get my chainsaw because I need it. The guy couldnt find it at first, then when he did he said it was $150! I said for what? He said it needed to rebuilt and needed a new carburetor and so on. I demanded my chainsaw back at that moment and he said it was in pieces and I told him to give it to me anyhow. They are no good. Go somewhere else or youtube it yourself.
S&D Equipment is a wonderful place to get your mower repaired or serviced. They know what they are doing! We have used them for service and repairs for over 10 years.

Surprised by the negative reviews. They were Knowledgeable and friendly. Able to answer all my questions. I walked in 10 minutes before they closed and yet they didnt rush me or cut corners. Prices are exactly as listed on the manufacturers websites. Strongly suggest you check this place out and make your own opinion. Great selection.

I went to Maximum Tractor looking for a part but unfortunately they did not stock what I was looking for, a universal part, so I came here to see if they had it in stock. Upon pulling up I should have taken the hint to the empty parking lot and it looked to be closed. I walked in and there was someone behind the counter but as soon as I described what I was looking for I was given a blank stare. He called back to someone else that could help and he really had no idea what I was looking for either. I was asked what the application was and when I told him that it is a universal part it doesnt matter what it goes on he then proceeded to tell me I would have to bring it to the shop to get me what I was needing. I had the part # and everything but was confronted with people who didnt really seem to care or want to spend a couple of minutes helping a customer out. I will not return as this was very poor customer service and felt as if I was being treated poorly. If you dont want to help the customers just do us a favor and let someone come in there that will match the kind of service needed. Its a shame that Stihl is such a good product but sold as such a low caliber place.
Took my weed eater that was still under warranty in because it would not start, before he knew it was warranty he tried to charge me $104 for a $129 weed eater.After he found out it was warranty I had to come home and call Stihl, and they called the shop and they lied saying it had been in for fuel problems before and also told them that all the parts had not been installed.I ended up paying $26 for what should have been warranty work. I will never go back or recommend them.
About the only thing nice in this shop is the Stihl products they carry. The customer service is terrible, and it’s almost like you have to beg someone to do their job. There is no aura of being welcomed when you open the doors.When it comes to maintenance and labor, this place is an extreme ripoff. We originally took a lawnmower in for a recall. When it was all said and done, they basically bribed my parents into a $300 service charge for sharpening a blade and an oil change. Something that would have cost maybe $60 at most.I will look for stihl products elsewhere from now, and I would not recommend this place at all. Almost like a damn car dealership.
Awesome place to buy or get your equipment repaired I wouldn’t go anywhere else. There knowledgeable and do treat the customers good and with respect.

We purchased a new mower from them, a Hustler. Recently when my husband went to mow, some things fell off. He loaded it up, took it to them. They took ur right back, the factory had not tightened some bolts. Put a new belt on it, and my husband said they were extremely nice and apologetic. Great service!

Bought my mower and a Weed eater here, had no plans of doing either I was just shopping prices. They gave me a great deal and seamed to know what they were talking about.
Highest prices anywhere. Tractor supply had the exact belt for $6.00 that S&D had for $29.00.Absurd -I try to support local businesses, but good grief!
Dropped my chain saw off to get serviced, and was told it would be ready in a week. Two weeks later when I hadn’t heard anything about it, I called and was told that they’ve been swamped, but she would tell the service people that I called and to speed it up. Then, after two more weeks with no response, I went into the store and requested my saw. The girl behind the counter looked up some invoices and couldn’t find it. She then went to another stack and said, “it is the next one up.” I advised I wanted to take my saw with me and find a shop that could really do the servicing. She started to tell me how swamped they were and that they’d get right on it, but I interrupted her and again stated I want my saw now, that they already were 3 weeks beyond what I was told, and I had missed too much work time already. Wish I had read these reviews and found another shop before I left it there a month ago. I’d be sawing logs by now.
Had a horrific experience dealing with David the mechanic and John the owner. Will not take any equipment back for repair or purchase any equipment from this company ever!
Absolutely horrible customer service, treats customers as idiots. I dropped my mower off for repair (which took 3 weeks, which is another issue) with specific instructions to change the plug and sharpen blade because it was running incorrectly and would not stay running. I asked like with all repairs if there was something major needed to please contact prior to repair. I was called on 6/26 to say it was ready. Upon going in to pick up they tell me they rebuilt the whole carburator and charged me $97. When I asked why the female cashier told me that she said that she told me it was going to be $70-100 when I dropped it off. What a LIAR! The reason I wanted them to call me is because it was an old mower not worth the money and would have NEVER authorized them to do that. Instead of offering to help they called me liar and said that I was wrong. Im pretty aware of my financial situation so im very clear on how much I want to spend. BE CAREFUL WITH THESE PEOPLE. They will lie to you and then call you a liar. You should be ashamed of yourselves S&D, I cant wait to badmouth your business every opportunity that I can, you earned it and deserve it. From the looks of it im not the only one with these experiences either.

I never use them our cub cabinet came back in worse shape then it for we took it in the changed belts and lost parts on my rider and didnt hook parts back up would I use again no thanks I will sell it for junk before taking to to this place
