I was in a Billy Joel-listening, NY-frame of mind for lunch so I headed down to the deli and they do not disappoint! Ive had their yummy bagels in the past but finally got around to ordering takeout lunch. The Yankee Stadium hero was a piping hot roast beef and swiss and delish. Its not an overwhelmingly large sandwich but just right, almost Philly steak-like.Cant wait to try their other sandwiches, and will bring the Brooklyn-born hubby next time. As a former NY-er S&L beats other NY-style eateries in the area, hands down for taste, menu and ambiance. I am almost a little homesick...My family from the 5 boros would approve :)!

First time here. Saw they had Taylor ham so had to try it. Had the breakfast plate with Taylor ham of course. Service was very good. Reminded me of home. Thanks

This is better than NYC bodegas. Like literally was in NYC a few weeks back and was disappointed bc S&L is a better NYC breakfast. It hangs with any deli Ive visited for lunch too.

My wife and I had a fantastic lunch here. Sandwiches are fantastic and staff was as well. If you like good NY style deli food, this is your place.

Food is great, staff is not very attentive to dine in customers unless you are a regular. New comers get ignored because they are too busy talking to everyone else. Will even walk by your table and empty drinks and act like they dont see you sitting there. Then when they do finally acknowledge you, they act like your are an inconvenience. Too bad too, havent been back since that experience.

Being from Wilmington, I’ve frequented this place many, many times within the last 30 years. Just walked into S&L with my 12 month old on my hip and my 6 year old to buy my husband some desserts for his 36th birthday. The lady at the register was awful. She looked at us as if we were an inconvenience and even played dumb when my 6 year old (with a mask on) was trying to explain the cookie she wanted. She didn’t want to help, she wanted to be hard to get along with. The cherry on top was that there was a room full of people and she wanted to try to pretend to be polite by telling us to “have a nice day” as she handed us our bag to walk out. I never write google reviews, but this one was worth my time. Poor customer service and poor consideration for a mom with two kids just trying to get some errands done.

Excellent sandwiches. Everything else is just okay. I really do feel like Im in New York there (I assume). The older waitress with gray hair was very nice and a Pro... Please keep HER around!

Fantastic authentic NY deli. We are in town visiting and stopped by for breakfast and am glad we did. Staff is friendly and fun. We will be back soon.

I love this place! The food is always on point and the staff is stellar. Fast, clean and efficient.

This place is very close to the hospital! I work around there and I am able to get my favorite dish: Yuki salad (picture). I have tried their subs and cannolis. I am able to order and pick up my food in a reasonable time. The staff is always friendly and helpful.

Decided to go here with a friend for lunch. Took forever to get our drink orders taken. Food was okay but the service was mediocre, staff was rude, really felt like a NYC experience and not in a good way. Heard one of the waitresses telling a table that young people now-a-days don’t want to work. Definitely felt like they discriminated against the younger generation. Will not be coming back.

I was excited to try S and l the bagels looked really good online. Unfortunately my experience was very disappointing I waited about 18 minutes for a server to come get us drinks. I had to go up to the front desk for the server to even come. The server was also rude. After we finished our meal and they took our plate so we waited for about 15 minutes for the check. But the check never came so I got up and asked for it and they said that you pay inside, would’ve been nice if they told us to pay inside instead of us waiting for so long thinking we were going to get our check.

Always a good meal and a friendly face. Good selection of breakfast items. We always stop in after a Dr. appt. If you are in the area stop in, you wont be disappointed, especially if you are from the northeast!

Best local bagels!! You can eat in, or outside or call ahead for pickup. The staff is friendly and the food is delicious! Save room for the cream puffs or get one to go!! Parking may be tricky but its worth it!

I dot the bacon, egg and cheese sandwich. Because you took such great care to wrap it in foil it was still hot after my morning duty. It was a hot cheesy bacon-y delight! We waited at the register for 5 mins and ordered a meal that we received 15 mins later.Food was loosely described in the descriptions and wasnt even what was expected either. No plasticware, missing a drink, and the customer service was spotty at best.If you plan to sit and eat, it might be a better experience, but take out was pretty rough.

Went to the deli for the first time today....Employees were very attentive..Service and getting the product out to the customer was quick!..But when I got the sandwich homeI have to say that I was really 😞 disappointed.....For the price I paid 9.64$ the sandwich was just ok....nothing special....dont get me wrong, Its totally edible...but its very generic....😢 Next time ill just go across the street to that little sandwich shop...you get more for your money and they were very attentive when I went there... 👎

Terrible. Straight up. Didnt even eat my food because they messed it up multiple times. I still had to pay full price and when I informed the employees I was never coming back, they became belligerent. Yelling at me, telling me I shouldve ordered something different. Its not my fault you cant cook or take orders lol.

Great place to stop for bite to eat! Our waitress (a local) was most helpful. Our food was tasty and fresh. Only let down was they didnt have a tee shirt in my size XXL. We will be back. Go Orioles, thats for the Yankee fans on staff.

I tried this place last time I was in the area and I thought it was fantastic! You get plenty of food and there a tons of menu items. The sandwiches were made with a nice roll/bread and it was not soggy by the time we got home. I definitely plan on returning.

Our waitress Andy, short grey haired lady, was a lovely woman! Really made coming here worth our time and money! She carried herself with grace and professionalism. Also has a beautiful and kind smile that lit up the entire dining space. My food was great, but I will absolutely be back because of her!!

We, like so many are regulars, dining here at least once or twice a week. Always consistently delicious. Service is very efficient, even when they are slammed for lunch. Try everything on the menu and grab the specials when you can. It is like visiting family with Tammy, her daughter and grand-daughter. Andrea is always cheerful and reading Lisa’s different T- Shirts at check-out puts a smile in our face as we leave.

Fantastic food and service. A work colleague recommended this place to my team. I visit Wilmington regularly and was looking for a special lunch. We enjoyed it so much we ate there two days in a row. The Reuben was the best I have had! I took some of their homemade desserts home to Raleigh.

Rushed through the order sandwich wasn’t toasted as requested and made poorly, tasted ok though. I could do better at my house and probably will do next time.
