This place is wonderful. Ive had several tattoos and this place is the only one Ive felt coming back to for multiple tattoos. The ink is top quality, the placement, sizing, and artist are excellent. Yeah I had to make an appointment but I usually can get in pretty fast. And something Id like to say as a season tattoo-getter you get what you pay for (usually you wont see it until the long run) you get quality work here. Its worth it.

My fiancé and I got our tattoos here a few hours ago. He got his third one being his mothers name and I got my second and third as music clefs. All of the tattoos came out beautifully and the price was very good for the work. I believe our artists name is Cole. He was really good with those needles. Our next tattoo, my fiancé and I are definitely coming back, which may be a few weeks to a few months from now. Work is absolute perfection.

First piercing other than my ears. Roxanne was very accommodating and kind. Walked me through everything I needed to know and much more. In the end it felt like a friend was giving me my piercing. Very informative and patient. Would recommend to anyone!

I’ve been to this shop once before and it was nice, but today me and my roommates went and sat down for about 20 mins and no one ever came out to help us. We then called a little bit later to try and see if anyone would answer but no one did. I understand a lot of places are understaffed right now but it was a little strange just coming in the door and sitting there for so long with no one to help us.Reply to the owner: we came in at like 5!

I called her after with after-care questions & she took the time to help me - overall awesome & quick experience :) I already cant wait to return next week for another literally bc of her!

UPDATE: Within 24 hours the owner of the business reached out to me and resolved this manner. The quality of the tattoos and the atmosphere were great and it is very prevalent that the owner takes pride in his business and the artists he employs. We will now be returning for our other tattoos and are excited to get to experience Cape Fear Tattoo with another artist.Terrible. Our experience was emotional for us due to this not only being a celebration for my bachelorette party but in memorial for a family dog that passed away. While my sister-in-law was getting her memorial tattoo she was already emotional due to its meaning and it being her first tattoo. She didn’t know what to expect. Our tattoo artist, Alex, was extremely unprofessional and rude to her. As we were comforting her and trying to distract her he persisted to call us dramatic and told her to start being an adult. Not only did this upset us all, but ruined her first tattoo experience. He made her very uncomfortable the remainder of the tattoo. She was not inhibiting him from successfully completing the tattoo and his response was extremely inappropriate. He embarrassed her, made her feel less-than, and was flat out rude. We were filming the experience because it was her first tattoo ever and her family wanted a video and instead we got a video of a “professional” belittling a 19 year old.We will not return for our other tattoos we had planned.

Cole did a fantastic job on getting my tattoo done...he surprised me with a different way of my tattoo on my kitty .....my first choice was a name and a paw print....but because my kitty had two different eye colors.... We switched it up to his name and the eyes....I was so pleased ..... Thank you Cole....I also had the Cancer ribbon done...he did a brush stroke instead of the reg ribbon.... So Im a pretty picky person in general and when it comes to something permanent on my body, Im VERY particular.. When I first wanted to get a tattoo, I went to a few different shops that had horrible customer service. And no I dont mean they were just more quiet and laid back, I mean they spoke to me like I was an idiot and did not seem willing to work with my ideas. Luckily, I then stumbled upon Cape Fear Tattoo (where up to date I have had 7 tattoos from and 3 more in the process of being drawn.) Rick Welch has been my only artist and let me just say, hes THE B O M B.Everyone at the shop was super chill and they still all greet me when I come in, literally a year later. Not to mention, their shop is CLEAN AS F***. Im OCD when it comes to health/safety and I have never had ANY issues with that. You can tell they take pride in their work and especially the environment they tattoo in.Rick has worked with every little nit-pick I have made at his drawings and is honest with me in what he thinks will look good or what is just impossible. He never tries to sway my opinions/ideas and he helps me visualize hey this will actually look sick or make me realize a certain idea wouldnt fit/lok as I would want on a certain area of my body.Sorry for this novel but Cape Fear Tattoo has always treated me well. Definitely worth your time, money, and pain (not much, dont worry) to stop in here. They will fit you in their schedule as soon as possible and are super reasonable with their prices. I was thoroughly pleased with my experience at Cape Fear Tattoo! I went in for a nose piercing and right off the bat Roy was extremely welcoming and helpful. I originally came in to get a hoop pierced for my nose, but Roy gave me enough hindsight that I went ahead for a stud. What I liked is that he didnt make me feel silly for not knowing the disadvantages of wanting a hoop initially, and he explained why it would not be as great of a decision without making the decision for me- he still allowed me to choose what I wanted done! The best part about my experience was feeling 100% comfortable and confident with the work being done- yes, its only a small piercing, but its right on my face! He is so knowledgeable, and not in the cocky-way, but he genuinely loves his work and loves the art of piercing. I chose to come here because of reading all the reviews and there is a reason why people rave about him! He is the cleanest piercer Ive been to and he takes his time to assure that there is no chance for unnecessary mistakes or contamination- which is such a comforting thing. Youll see from all the certifications on his wall that he has taken the time to perfect his art. Seriously, bravo to Roy! Ive gotten multiple piercings in the past from different artists and his is the only one not to become infected or crusty or even uncomfortable (so far!). He was such a pleasure. Thank you!

Ive been coming to Cape Fear Tattoo since I was the age of 16 and got my nostril pierced. The laid back atmosphere is what drew me in on my initial visit. Everyone there makes you feel welcome, and are incredibly nice. Everyone is so professional with their work, but also very cool. Rick, a tattoo artist, is one of the ONLY people I will come to if I want a tattoo. When I got my first tattoo, I was nervous and Rick calmed me down, assured me I was in good hands, and soothed my nerves. Years later, I came to Rick with an idea for a chest piece (I gave him song lyrics) and I let him take the reins on the design and I was floored at how amazing the design is that he came up with. Hands down the best shop Ive ever been to. Would recommend 10/10.

Drew did an amazing job and the tattoo ended up better than I imagined it! He is extremely talented and gets awesome work done pretty quick. This shop is also really affordable. Some of the best Tattoo artists in town. And the best piercers I know as well. These guys are fun, they make getting tattooed and pierced a joy and I have never been a slight bit nervous around these guys. They always get my tattoos exactly how I want them and for a great price, and the piercings have always came out perfectly. My husband and I found out about Cape Fear Tattoos by word of mouth. We decided to check it out and now REFUSE to go anywhere else or see anyone else. Our go to guy is Rick! Hes done work on both my husband and myself and we have absolutely no complaints. My husband has 2 sleeves done by him, and I have a half sleeve, leg piece and foot piece. Amazing work, great prices and a cool guy to spend a couple hours with. He also always asks about our son and how he is which means a lot to us. We now live in Kansas due to the military but are looking forward to making trips to NC to see family....and get tattooed! And Rick always manages to squeeze us in! Seriously, go see the man!

Kudos to the best shop in town. Sam, Rick, Drew, and Joey are all phenomenal. The shop is clean, they do honest business, and each artist has distinguishable work that makes CFT the best choice. Rick has been my primary artist for several years now and his work is so rich in color. Just went to the place to get my tongue and belly button pierced and 2 tattoos. Everything went really well, they even made sure to send me an email to ask how everything looked. Their tattoo artist Rick has an incredible talent, steady hand, and works well. Overall took me only 3 hours. Roy is an amazing piercer. I wont let anybody else touch me. Even refer family a friends. You wont be disappointed. The shop is very clean and Roy is the only piercer in town that uses sterile gloves. Will definitely be coming back for my piercings.

My husband and I had a great visit to cape fear tattoo. We were on our honeymoon visiting the beach and decided to stop in for a piercing. We were very impressed with Roy and his level of professionalism. He did a great job piercing my husbands septum even though he has a deviated septum. He pierced my nose also and we had a great experience overall and plan on going back next year for more .

I had my nose pierced by Roy a few weeks back. He was very nice, patient (as I was nervous) and kept me informed of every part of the process. Im a nervous person, especially in new environments, and the warm atmosphere at Cape Fear helped make me comfortable right away.My first experience there was with tattoo artist Rick Welch--he tattooed me earlier this year, and it came out gorgeous. I described what I wanted, and Rick was able to come up with a sketch within a few short days. Rick was open to my feedback and changed the design until it was just how I wanted it. His line work is crisp and clean, and he was able to give the tattoo the vibrant watercolor-look that I was looking for.I went back yesterday to see if one of the piercers could help me switch out my nostril piercing, but I ended up getting two conch piercings from Roy. Roys experience shows in his intuition and guidance on what might look best in a piercing. He was super patient with me as I waffled back and forth on what to get, and very willing to explain any terminology or processes I didnt understand.I will definitely be returning to Cape Fear Tattoo for any future tattoos and piercings (and I expect to have several more of each!). Ive been coming to Cape Fear for 4, almost 5, years now. These guys are great. The first time I came here, I was 15 and getting my nose pierced and 4 piercings and 6 tattoos later, I still come here. I wouldnt go to any other tattoo shop. The setting is so relaxing and the guys are so chill and fun to be around. They make sure that you, as the client, are as comfortable as possible and are ready for whatever procedure will take place. Ive never had a problem with any of my tattoos and piercings and HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone interested in modifying their body.

I spent some time researching the different tattoo shops in Wilmington and I was glad I decided on Cape Fear Tattoo. After having had only one very small tattoo done in the past, I was a little nervous about getting a much larger piece. Rick listened to what I wanted and drew up the design in a timely fashion respecting my wishes. I was able to check it out before my actual tattoo appointment so if I wanted to change anything I could. Rick made sure I was as comfortable as possible the whole time I was being tattooed. As a whole, the Cape Fear Tattoo staff are very professional and talented artists. You can tell these guys love what they do and want to do right for there clientele. This was my fourth tattoo but my first away from my home state and I had no idea where to go but after calling around and reading reviews I found somewhere I felt comfortable going. I went in and told them my wife and I wanted crowns and that this was a birthday surprise for her. They recommended Drew and gave me his email. Ive gone to Cape Fear Tattoo 2 times and both experiences were ideal. I got a large tattoo done by Rick and it came out wonderfully. Ive also gotten a triple flat helix done by Roy recently, and it is healing perfectly. Roy took the time to plan out exactly what I wanted and was very patient and professional with discussing how it should be placed. He had a lot of good advice and concerns for different placements for it, depending on how my ear was shaped in that area for the best outcome. He also has been very helpful by helping me clean it every time I stop by the shop while its healing.Im going to Roy and Rick for any piercings and tattoos in the future.

When i went for the $30 special and got my tattoo they were very organized and clean. i also have viewed a lot of their art and it keeps getting better and better. plus they all have really sweet beards so you know youre in good hands when you go to cape fear tattoo.

Rick revamped a very sentimental tattoo for me that had started to fade. His work is phenomenal!!! The finished design was more than I expected!! Highly recommend him!

Walked in with my mom so that we could get matching semicolon tattoos. Everyone was friendly and entertaining. Great experience overall. I will definitely be back and will tell anyone I know to go here!

I meant to post this awhile ago, but Roy is the best piercer I have ever gone to. I have wanted my septum redone for the longest time but due to a bad experience was terrified to go and have it done again. Roy was extremely professional and not only did he make sure I was comfortable, he talked me through the entire process and told me exactly what he was doing. I will never go to anyone else. I cant wait to get in and change the jewelry on my septum and really soon get another piercing!

Nate and the rest of the staff at Cape Fear Tattoo are awesome! Nate has done an amazing job on my cover up work adding his own natural talent. He has bent over backwards to work with my schedule since I work odd hours. He is using his knowledge and great imagination to complete a whole sleeve for me. I cant wait to see his finished work! Needless to say, I would recommend Nate and any of the Cape Fear Tattoo staff for any of your ink or piercing needs!

I love this place. Rick welch does all my tattoos and he is very reasonably priced. he has a tv in his room too which makes it so much better so you can concentrate on something else if you get a little nervous!

Rick Welch did my Evil Dead 2 piece here, and I could not be happier with the result. It was my first tattoo and he walked me through every step of the process, constantly made sure I was comfortable and knew what was happening, and talked all things horror with me, ensuring I was never bored throughout the entire three-hour process. The entire shop is clean, welcoming, and everyone is super friendly to both newcomers and repeat visitors. Rick Welch and the shop both earn 5/5 stars.

I went to Cape Fear tattoo to get my nose pierced. They pierced it with a bone stud, instead of something that would stay in easily while it healed. It kept falling out and sticking out of my nose and it caused a really painful situation because it would fall out multiple times a day and I would have to put it back into a fresh piercing. I went to a different place to seek help and they helped me tremendously, but the process of them putting in a screw (which it should have been pierced with in the first place) was extremely painful and it took the guy a few times to even get it in because it is an extremely new piercing. I would definitely not suggest getting a piercing at this place to avoid the experience that I had.

Seems like a good shop. A little on the expensive side for blackwork, especially with finished art brought in to start with. The artist I talked to didnt seem to have confidence in his ability to do details at a reasonable size. I decided to shop around some more. They seem to specialize in color work and portraits.
