I would leave no stars if I could. I called just yesterday to order a part and even GAVE MY CARD INFO ON THE PHONE and was given a ref number and was told that my card would be ready today after 12PM. Today I call and I was told there is nothing in the system for me and that their system was down yesterday so they couldnt have taken my info or even answer their phone. I have screenshots of our 3 min convo yesterday Nov 3 in which i did give my card. This place is poorly managed and the customer service is god awful I do not recommend this place to anyone. Not reliable at all.
$125 restocking fee, just to place the transmission back on the shelf. Was never removed from the pallet. Will not use again.
Rude people, very unhelpful, paid for a part online that came damaged. Better off with other junkyards with better customer service.
Rude and unprofessional man that answers the phone.. Horrible to do business with so stay far away and go somewhere else. If you call for a part they will rush you off the phone and misinform you of the pricing. If you pay by phone you will get a bad car part. Customer service is very important running a business American Auto Salvage, Inc.
This is a horrible salvage yard. They say they guarantee their parts but after getting a supposedly “good” cylinder head from them, the machine shop tells me after pressure testing that I have at least two bent valves. The shop offered another cylinder head but I am already out $180 dollars on labor on a busted cylinder head and all they offered was $25. I wanted them to help meet me in the middle but now I am out the cost of a valve job and new valves. This yard is terrible and their business is not customer friendly. Stay away and go to a more reputable junk yard if at all possible.
Google all VINs they give you. Attempted to purchase an engine from them, I dealt with Rick. Rick repeatedly gave me wrong VIN numbers. Believing that Rick had given me a correct VIN, I put a deposit on the engine. When I got home, I found the donor vehicle VIN on SalvageBid - it didnt match the vehicle American Salvage was trying to sell me. I called American Auto Salvage and they agreed to cancel the charge. I sent them a follow up email memorializing our conversation. They charged me anyway. I reported them to my credit card fraud investigation unit. I will avoid them at all costs.
Very rude people work there
Needed to replace a wheel after a recent winter storm after destroying one by sliding into a curb. After a couple other wheels from another distant merchant fell through, I called American Auto Salvage on the recommendation of our local G & G Auto Recycling. Ricky (Woodbridge location) & Teddy (Culpeper location) were BOTH really great to deal with. They did have the wheel and totally explained the process. Of course I needed the wheel yesterday and even though they were swamped with orders and had several inches of fresh snow all over their inventory, they had it ready by early afternoon the same day. I even got a call from them on my hour drive there to let me know that there were some cosmetic blemishes that werent real clear on an earlier photo they had emailed me.I still checked it out and it was fine for my purpose. I really appreciate their great customer service, honesty, and thoroughness. Id absolutely recommend them and use them again when the need arises. Thanks!
Awesome service. Repaired my 2011 Subaru outback. The dealer wanted to replace my engine for $5,000. Thank God I chose American Auto Salvage. They fixed everything, no engine replacement needed, and saved me thousands of dollars. Would use them again without a doubt.
Doesnt not have great customer service. People are to layback.
The service provided to me by the folks at American Auto Salvage was worth writing about! I have an old car which I love but I dont like spending a bunch of money on it. The guys at American Auto Salvage have done everything in their power to help me with my car while providing great customer service. The shop is a family run business where you will find honest responses to your questions and you will be provided with exactly what you ask for. Anyone in need of spare parts should consider American Auto Salvage first, second and third before going anywhere else!!! I will continue to work with them for years to come!
They are outstanding. A wonderful small business with exceptional customer service. Great price, manager took time to explain everything, my car was repaired in the time he said, and they found an issue Ive had trouble with that another major company missed. Very happy highly recommend
Went to Auto Salvage today and it was a great experience! Everyone was so nice with helping me get a new tire for my car. The prices were unbeatable! Other tire shops were trying to charge me 80 to 100 dollars for just one tire, but Auto Salvage was very affordable. I will definitely be coming back when I need something done on my Altima!
This place has good quality parts. The work is done fast. Costumer service is great. I got all 4 of my tires replaced here with practically brand new ones and it only took about 20 minutes. Definitely getting all my work done here from now on.
I reside in Alexandria Virginia and had bought tires, a bumper, a car battery, tail lights, car stereos from American Auto Salvage over three years - periodically. The parts are of high quality, and works perfect. I had no cause to replace, exchange or return any of the parts I had once bought. As a matter of fact, the customer service I experienced is the courage for my patronage. The lady who receives money is always on standby to expedite payment process, while the parts experts are superb- always ready to show you their computers to enable you make choice on the basis of either price or time of delivery. In as much as every customer can review service or products, I think it is very unfair to portray American Auto Salvage and their workers in a negative light. After all they are good and helpful guys.
I had a great experience with these guys, I needed a specialty piece, and was coming in from out of town. They assured me they could get the part, and helped accommodate my needs. Highly recommended
Got the exact part ordered. It was in good condition and reasonably priced.
I needed some parts ASAP and the staff was very helpful and quick with getting me what I needed. The prices were also very reasonable. I will definitely be coming back.
I bought a car from them a couple of months ago, it was a very smooth process and kept me up to date on all the repairs and replacements the car needed. After that the car had a couple of things that were wrong they were so helpful in getting me the parts and fixing the problem in a very timely manner they explained the problem and walked me step by step on what they were doing. Always working with my schedule. I WILL DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE LOOKING FOR CAR PARTS OR A CAR!
The employees are Disrespectful, they are racism . They trusted me very bad because I didn’t speak English. Also you called me and you told me bad words. I didn’t recommend any one go there . The owner should know that
Amazing, friendly service and they had EVERYTHING I needed for my car. This was the only salvage yard that had my parts within a 50 mile radius. The prices were extremely competitive, even cheaper than online! Definitely recommend!! A+++++++
Great establishment, had to wait about 45 minutes for them to pull the parts but that is to be expected with a salvage yard. Great prices, too. And the owner has a good sense of humor so the wait goes by fast.
After I finally got my part I had planned on giving a bad 1 star rating. I was looking for a headlight assembly for my car. And was told hey didnt have the part. Seemed like he guy didnt even look the part up, he just knew they didnt. Called back a day or 2 later was told the same thing. Asked if he could look it up by the part # and oh, they did have it. He seemed very agitated that he was wrong? Quoted me 300$ (which was a great price). Called back a day or two later to say I wanted to buy the headlight. Not only did he tell me it was sold but they had shipped it off to a dealer. Wow really? No not really.Fast forward a couple months later, had a friend call about it, and wow, they had it. Quoted 350$ this time. Call a few days later again and oh, no we dont have it. Call again on a Saturday we do have it. Call Monday to pick it up was told again they didnt have the part. I said it was there Saturday evening. Was told we sold the last one later on Saturday. Call the next day, now they had it again. Paid for it and went to pick it up a few hours later...Now the guy who helped me and actually looked it up, Teddy, was awesome. Told him about what had happened and he took his time and showed and explained to me how things are supposed to work there. Hence a better rating after, we shall call him R refused to look up the item and twice just flat out lied and said they sold it. I know to ask for Teddy if I have any future needs. If I ran a company Id like to have a guy like Teddy on my team...
I spoke with the gentleman over the phone about a part that I need. He informed me that he had 2 of the items, I placed the order and received confirmation when the part was there. My boyfriend went to get the part. The gentleman was helping other customers, so he waited until his turn, a man walks in and jumps in front of my boyfriend and the gentleman told him he was not the next customer, the man still tried to get him to take him next, so he did and apologized to my boyfriend for the customers behavior, and for making him wait to get his part. Thank you for excellent customer service.
I agree with all the reviews here. I called and the guy couldnt tell me if he had my radio. told me to call the dealer and get a code that is on the face of the radio. I called the dealer and they told me they dont go by these codes but looked it up for me and gave me a pricing right away. I did find the code the guy from auto salvage wanted and called back to give it to him but it wasnt on his system so he got upset and asked me to come over. I went to see if maybe someone else would be there and find better service but its only this guy and one or two more who I could tell dont like customers to come into their shop. The front desk person showed the guy who was supposed to help me, he was eating in front of the door (entrance). I spoke to him and he said for me to wait for him to finish lunch before he could help me out. It was 3:30pm and their shop closes at 4 pm. I understand his frustration if he hadnt eaten and it was so late but you dont take it out on the customers. I said yeah ok and just left.Even if they had a perfect radio for $20 dollars I would rather pay Honda $800 for their radio. Big difference customer service makes huh.If you want to speak to real human beings dont go to this store.Good luck if you do.
Extremely bad customer service, by the man at the right corner of the front deal. While ordering a part over the phone, he informed me that no part is reserved for a customer unless its bought to which I did buy the said part. I came 2 months later to take the part, and while long, he became very rude to me on why I was taking the part then and when I asked if he still had the part or if he could return my money he asked me to come in 3 days and warned me if it stayed for 7 days longer Ill forfeit the money (which is fine, but I wasnt told this before ) and he was extremely rude the whole time. This is the second time hes been rude to me. Wont be going there again...
I dont understand the negative feedback. If you want new parts, go buy them new, when you see the price youll likely go back to them. I have dealt with this company several times over the past few years and they have been nothing but helpful. Yes, they are busy, but they have been nothing but helpful.EXAMPLE: My son just bought his first car. It is a bit rough: a bumper needs repainted and a leather rear seat is torn and needs replaced. I went to an auto upholstery repair shop, who quoted an outrages price to replace leather seat panels. I remembered from other visits to this business, that the owner opened an auto body repair shop. We drove to American Auto Salvage and asked about painting the rear bumper and repairing the seat. He researched his inventory and found that he had a matching rear seat to match and can simply replace the entire seat for 1/3 the cost. Oh, and the owner asked me to let him get the seat before I committed, so that he could make sure it would look good in the car. They are now working to repaint the rear bumper and they will be replacing the seat at a reasonable price. Another example is that my oldest son totaled his car, I sold it to American Salvage. After he paid me, I remembered my son left his auto stereo in it and wanted to save the radio. The owner had his mechanics remove the stereo and speakers and give them to me: No charge. When I deal with American Auto salvage I try to be reasonable and patient and they have always been the same with me. Give them a try, if your a reasonable person I think you will be very satisfied.
My engine blew in my car, I needed another engine so I called this place up and they had my engine. When I showed there staff was very respectful and they answered all my questions. The motor price was great it also had low mileage. One of the key things that sold me on the engine was that they provided proof that the engine was low mileage. They had pictures and documents to share along with a condition report of the car. Let me tell you I was sold on that! And that engine was coming home with me! We installed the engine, it came out of an automatic elantra however my elantra was manual. So we converted it over and this car engine has been running strong for 7 months now! I even called the salvage yard for a question relating to the motor and they were still able to pull my purchase up in the system. Awesome place.
Called to see if they had a part said yes went to pick it up nobody was there couldnt get anyone on phone. Had to order from Pennsylvania.
Total fab. Very kind and knowledge able. Got some good tires great price! And rotation sweet!
Awesome place to find parts! I highly reccomend this place for anybody looking for any part. Great people working there. Teddy is the best salesmen
Very helpful, they didnt have the part i needed, but the guy searched and found it for me! Really appreciated the help
Finding a mechanic shop I trust is very difficult, so when I had an engine issue I reached out to a friend for a recommendation who immediately referred me to AAS. They gave me a great price on my engine replacement, were very accommodating and super friendly. I definitely would recommend them.
These people are scam artist and crooks. The charged me $502.00 for a blown motor for my 2000 Nissan Maxima. The engine failed compression test, and was blown it’s self. Refuse to honor 30 day replacement warranty. And refused to refund my money. Beware these people are out to steal your money. The seller Tony is an absolutely crook. They will tell you every lie, to get your money.
There price is higher than the new partsVery rude and disrespectful peopleI was there for 2 hrs still they couldnt answer simple question!! Its much better to buy New part!!! Then coming here
Good deals but horrible service. Was told I was going to get a call on Monday aug 12, didn’t receive a call until aug 21 by a man with an attitude telling me I had until Friday to pick it up or I don’t get a refund or a window.
There is another branch of this business in Culpeper where we live which did not have the part we needed but contacted their sister location in Woodbridge which had the part. We spoke with someone there who assured us that we could get the part needed today and we discussed how long it would take to get there. So we drove 1.5 hours and arrived as planned only to have the person say we could not get the part today! I would not do business in either place!
Came in to replace my tire, was very pleased with the service and the price I got for my tire.. highly recommend them. :)
A guy named Tony took care of me and I got money for my wrecked car. I was happy with how simple and fast it was to do the whole process from getting it towed there to picking up the cash. Check them out!
Been here a couple of times before they are great never had a problem my only regret is I cant give more than 5 stars
Great service, super helpful got me exactly what I needed quickly and the customer service I received at the front counter was outstanding. Definitely consider giving them a call.
Search engine is trash
Tony was very nice but was not honest with me. A cylinder head was to be shipped and paid for 2 weeks ago. I have called many times and was promised they would called back within 1 hour. They never called me back! Not once! I cancelled the order.
I dont see why everybodys giving it a bad review, the service was excellent and they have my part ready next day. I will be going to them for parts from on. No complaints
Very busy place so dont expect someone ready at all times as they do a lot of business. Having said that, knowledge and helpful. Would recommend and use again.
Plain rude and cant trust stay away
Worst customer service ever. I called for a front door right side for my honda and they said they have it. Then I asked about the shape and how clean is it and then he turned on me and said if you wanna buy a new door with no scratches then dont bother us and go buy it from somewhere else. We are not allowing any one to our yard and you got to pay to have it. No returns allowed unless it comes totally damaged.Totally rude, stay away!
I was in the shop when 3 customers called. The woman that answered the phone put all of them on hold without properly asking what they need. She then proceeded to do her nails. When it was my turn at the counter, the rep was very condescending. The item I was looking for was 50% cheaper at a another junkyard. I used to shop here often but I will take my business elsewhere.
Great to work with had the parts reasonably prices and available. Will take all my business there and highly recommend them to friends
Staff was pretty rude and had little knowledge regarding the part that I needed. When I called I was immediately put on hold and then I was asked to give my part number. When they called me back they asked for the same information again before declaring that they did not have the part. They did not offer me any other solution or recommendations to solve my problem.
Completely ripped me off!!!! Stay as far away as possible!! They sold me a bad transmission and so when I went to get my money back Rick said let me order you another one and it comes with a 6 month warranty. So I said ok, so we get the second one. In and WOW its also bad !! So I go to get my money back because I had a 6 month warranty, well no luck !! Rick is a thief and a lire !!
Called about scrapping a car. Tried to give me $100 if I towed the vehicle there. Pick a part is willing to give $225. This place is a joke
Very knowledgeable and professional helped us find everything we needed with no issue
Called on friday looking for an engine. Was told they had the engine I wanted: $950. I paid via credit card and was told I could pick up Tuesday. I spent all weekend getting ready. Tuesday I call up to tell them Im coming, and they tell me Oh, sorry. We made a mistake. We dont have your engine. Too bad, so sad!. Hard to imagine that level of incompetence....
Awesome! Everybody in the shop was nice & very helpful. They even caught another problem with my car, fixed my brnt rim and saved my money. Thanks guys!
Fantastic business!! I ordered wheels from supervisor of the Culpeper location. His name was Teddy. He made the process of purchasing and shipping used parts across state lines very easy. I was very paticular in what I wanted and he was very helpful and polite throughout the entire process. I got up close photos of everything I requested and was told immediately if there were any imperfections or issues with my order. He sent me pictures of everything after it was pulled and cleaned up for a final inspection before packaging them and shipping them to my home in New York. All parts were wrapped in plastic wrap and padded with foam and cardboard to prevent shipping damages. I was texted to my cellphone tracking number and receipts for all my parts. A few days later i called and requested price quotes on another vehicle i was working on and Teddy answered with the same attitude as he had before. He was willing to price match other yards to ensure i got the best deal and even gave me other options if i decided to use a closer yard to prevent shipping costs. I would 100% recommend American Auto Salvage to anyone looking to purchase used quality parts for their vehicles. A+ to Teddy for his professionalism, prompt responses, and customer service.
Great service...great price. They even check my brakes. All staff was helpful
Like most of the scrapyards in the D.C. area, they think their used parts are made out of gold.Save your money and go drive out to the country. The only good thing I can say about this place is that they have an inventory tracking system and can tell you what parts they have.
Completely rude and lied over the phone!BUYER BEWARE! ALL THE 5 STARS ARE FAKE!!!OVER PRICED! TERRIBLE! WORST SCUM!ALL 1 STAR REVIEWS ARE ACCURATE!
Had the part I needed at a Great Price! Excellent Service. Great Friendly Staff, Highly recommended!!!
They are very knowledgeable and efficient. If you need great tires at an affordable price this is the place to get them.
They totally hooked me up. It was quick and easy. I needed a side mirror for my camry.
Worst customer service in the business. Not willing to look up information to ensure the part is correct for the vehicle ... they think they know what is needed more than the manufacturer. Nice job ... I would rather buy new parts than deal with this level of ingnorance and arrogance.
Had what I needed was able to answer all my questions nice customer service. Dont like the parking
Ive been dealing with them for years already. Recently, purchased some parts of my Prius and Mr. Rikky went into details and gave me exactly what I need!!!Very reliable and professional.
I have used these guys many times, and they are always professional, and willing to go out of their way to help.
Been using this company for 3 years. Never had an issue. 5 stars all the way.
I went to their shop for replacing a rear bumper for my Toyota Camry. A guy named Tony told us to get outside the shop and wait in open. It was extremely cold today with real feel much lower due to freezing wind. Me and my friend waited for 45 min on the roadside. It was extremely unprofessional and uncalled for them to expel their customers. Due to their rude behavior, I will not recommend it to any one.
I had a wonderful day scrounging around for about 10 misc items I needed for my 1988 Ford E-150. At the end of the day we negotiated a reasonable price and I left determined to return for the newer model front seats once I install my current items.
Tried to buy a steering column from these people, and they could not have been less helpful. They had a problem over the phone with the customer I was dealing with and therefore refused to ship me the part. We run a very busy legitimate business and I have never had this kind of problem with a vendor.
I dont know why this place has good feedback. The truth is they always overprice the parts and they have bad costumer service. Go to pick a part is a way better place. In stafford
Awesome price, great service, and very friendly staff!! Been coming to this shop for all my car needs!
The individuals in charge especially tony doesnt even care about his employees. all he cares about is his pocket. Him an Ricky dont care about any customer that walks in their store. They should be shut down by the EPA due to their lack of awareness for customers and the environment. I recommend Lews Auto Salvage in Thornburg Va over this place any day
Needed a steel wheel replacement, quoted $95 plus $15 to mount it. Auto shop wanted $275 for the same thing. Friendly and fast service!
THE WORST PLACE EVER . One guy who I was trying to buy part from through a rock at my car as i was leaving and I had my baby in the car . I called them back and they tryed to act like they didnt know anything . DONT GO HERE!! ( OVER CHARGE TOO)
Got the exact part i needed for a great price. Installed it same day in a minimal amount of time. Couldnt be happier.
The worst experience ever. What a scam. After taking my money for a part to be deliverd on 8-26-15 part was not delivered. Owner was arrogant, pompous piece of work. when I asked for refund I was told to wait while he was talking on the phone over 20 min. I URGE PEOPLE TO STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS.
Owner is strait foward and honest...he got a good deal on my fan motor. I will come back next time and get new tires from hum
Here isa good people...Ricky helps me to find out parts.
I previously left a very negative review because of the service i received while buying parts for my 1988 toyota pickup. I took 3 trips down for parts that were not truely available. Also i paid in full for these parts which I ended up having to make a return for all of them. I was servely displeased at the time and swore i would never do bussiness with the owner Tony again. I then recieved a call today concerning my negative review and the bad customer service i recieved. He informed me they have made policy changes on their return policy on deposits when purchasing parts. He explained that he was also displeased with his employees over the situation. Im a reasonable guy and understand that a negative experience and review doesnt only effect the customer but also the bussiness and its employees. I extremely appreciated the fact that he personally called me about my experience and we worked out our differences. Good customer service is the key to running a successful bussiness and getting the consumer back in the door. I can honestly say before i recieved this call i would never do bussiness with American Auto Salvage again. Although now i would consider finding parts through them again. I value an owner that takes the time to reach out and fix a bad situation.
Worst Custumer Service Ever! Makes me wonder how they are still Bussiness.
Was asked to hold then hung up on. No one answered the phone after that.
Great pricing. They get the job done asap and dont try to upsell you in extra services.
Been here 3 times....they always have what i need and great service... Ricky is the man
Dishonest. Car was picked up at our mechanic shop, salvage company did not give us the amount agreed upon when check was mailed out. Use at your own risk.
These people never have anything. On another part I was looking for they wanted to charge me brand new OEM price. Worst junk yard to do business with.
Always have part that I need...great service and price.. they also sell new and used battery
Have used them on and off for years, and every time they lie. I ordered a rim waited two days called back. Was told that I never spoke to anyone about ordering it. Expect I have the proof I called back, plus the young lady even confirmed my shop name, address, and phone number. This is the last time I will use them. All of them are rude and have no customer service.
These guys are great. I needed a back window replaced on a late model specialty car. AAS not only had the part I needed but arranged to have glass specialists meet at the yard to professionally pull and replace my rear window glass. Prior to finding AAS I had called Safelite but due to the specialty glass this repair would have cost $$$$ and taken weeks to get the part delivered. AAS was able to do the repair next-day, professionally, and at a fraction of the cost.
I dont knos why pleople write bad stuff...this place is great..had all my parts at great price
Bought a part from them, wasnt the right part - no fault of theirs. Didnt realize it until I returned it but the mechanic I had try to install it broke the part. American Auto Salvage gave me 50% refund even though the part was useless and had to throw it away. I would recommend this business to anyone looking for auto parts.
Twice they switched prices on me with two different products. they say one price over the phone then once you travel all your way out there they change the prices on you. needless to say every shitty thing there is over priced. go to amazon. com . you can get the same things shipped to you same day or next day brand new for still under their prices. do your research and if they hit you with a price switch STAND YOUR GROUND.
Thy have cheap parts and good customer service, ask for Tony or Ricky thy r the best !!!!!
Called about a part that I needed for my van Ive been calling junkyards all morning these people offered me a used one for $100 whereas I was offered one brand new for $80 from every other junkyard that I spoke with this place is a joke dont deal with them youre going to get ripped off
Horrible to do business with. Incompetent staff that have no basic knowledge of auto parts. Had to prepay for them to pull the part and it ended up being wrong then they tried to tell me I told them the wrong part. Now waiting on a refund.
Highly recommended. Pleasure as always..thanks!
Pepe,Very helpful.Knows what hes talking about!InteligentGot me just what I wanted and helped me save money!William,Great customer service!Tony, very helpful. Not an assh*le like people here say. Hes just straight up and tells you how it is.I recomend this place to everyone I know!!!!!
Had some issues but in the end had a positive outcome. Saved a lot of money but there may be some hassle and double checking of work required.
Friendly and helpful staff! Great experience!
