Our move started out with a grossly underestimated weight and a lot of conversation after that about how the agent would help us out by trying to drop costs in different places. I was told repeatedly the most I could ever pay was 110% of the original estimated bill. We paid 127% in the end and were told we couldnt file our clams without payment in full. This was $3619.04 higher than the max expected even with the additional 10%. There was threat of us owing 150% but this number was a moving target. The movers could not get the truck up our hill, which was the same location that our previous movers had no trouble with just 3 years prior to that. We had Fed Ex, UPS, garbage trucks up that hill all the time without problem and the estimator did not have any concerns for the hill. They refused to continue to load until I signed a form stating I would pay $1200 extra for a shuttle. Later the broker tried to add $1250. Our items were then moved twice just to get them on the main truck. They were poorly packed and thus ended up needing a second truck. Boxes I had packed were inside Bekins boxes. Pillows were stuffed into large boxes and paper filled spaces that could have gotten pillows. Toilet bowl cleaner was on top of pillows...The inventory was a mess and with the delivery of our first truck, the missing items that were supposed to be on it were said to surely be on the second truck. The departure weight was very high and we found out after that that we could view the delivery weight prior to unload. It was 1720 lbs less than the reported departure weight, which had no explanation. There were a lot of items I could never check off even from careful monitoring of unloading either truck. Now with the process of claims for all the damaged items we have, we are being offered a settlement at 44% of the originally estimated damage costs to replace or satisfactorily repair the damaged items through this move. I have submitted the information requested and asked for a review only to be met with a settlement that they state is held firm and only offered for 60 days, which ends next week. As I review through this process, I see unprofessionalism, strongholding behavior, and dishonesty in every direction.

Bekins Yakima has been absolutely essential for the crazy past 15 months of my life (I’ve had to move three times under less than ideal circumstances) and each time the staff has been efficient, polite, a total joy to be around, and have gone completely above and beyond any expectations I had. This most recent move was into a new state and Will and Russ helped me out. What a dream team. I’ve had Will before, always an absolute pleasure to be around. He has the lightest personality, always laughing, easy going, and gets the job done. I dropped a piece of my vacuum cleaner into the dumpster and was afraid I wouldn’t be able to grab it without getting stuck in there (a thing of nightmares) - Russ didn’t skip a beat offering to jump in and grab it for me, and he did just that with completely agile grace. If that’s not phenomenal customer service I don’t know what is. Let’s face it, moving sucks. But Will and Russ made my move nothing but enjoyable, and that has been a Bekins standard for all three of my moves with them. On the single occasion that an item was damaged they helped me replace it without hesitation. I can honestly say I will be using them for all of my moves in the PNW moving forward. A special thanks to Brett and Stacey for their help as well, who were incredibly responsive, easy to communicate with, and helped us get a price that worked.

As an employee the guys are great leaders. So you can imagine what service is like. Great.

Update 10/1/19 - Never received the refund.Update 7/5/19 - The salesman who originally met with me at the building in order to come up with the quote called me up to discuss my review. He let me know that it was that leads first time running the crew, and that he had made a mistake with the boxes as there was a note for the other group to bring used boxes to use as protective wrapping. He also was willing to refund the $200 charge for boxes.On Friday I met with the salesman at the building for a walk through. He felt confident that the contents of the building would all fit in one truck, and that our stuff would get loaded first, then the other organizations, so that they could be delivered first and then us. The initial quote was above 1800. He stated that it was because of the packing that would need to be done for the small wall of books, and cleaning out the contents of 2 filing cabinets. I told him that we would handle packing those up, and the price dropped by $500. It took us about half an hour with 2 guys to get it packed up. He asked if we would need boxes, and I said yes, which added $200 to the price.Day of the move: I arrived a few minutes early, and the truck was already there and getting ready. That was a good start. There were 3 movers, and they all were nice guys. The team lead gave us a pile of boxes, some new, and most used. I commented on the boxes, and was told that we werent charged for the boxes because he just brought the leftover boxes from another job. I told him that the paperwork I signed was charging me $200 for boxes. He pulled out his copy and agreed that we were charged for the boxes, but there was no change made. We still paid $200, and they got to sell the boxes a second time.When the truck was mostly loaded there was a particularly heavy item that needed to be loaded. They decided to use the lift gate instead of pushing it up the ramp. As the lift gate was being lowered one of the hydraulic hoses burst, and it fell to the ground spraying hydraulic fluid all over the ground. They called several people trying to figure out what to do. Finally, in order to get our stuff delivered, as it has been a long day already, I got the car jack and jack stand out of my car, and a member of the organization and myself helped to jack the lift gate back up into position where they used a bunch of tie down straps to strap it in place. This took quite a while and used our labor and equipment to do. The company should spend money on upkeep of equipment and training of their people instead of new offices.Finally we got everything loaded up and delivered. The movers were hard workers, and they got everything packed into the storage container in a fairly secure way. The lead kept saying that we had signed a binding contract, which I think was his way of trying to reassure us that we were getting a good deal, as they had been there all day. But when I checked my timer that I had started as soon as the truck returned from delivering the other organizations stuff, it had been a total of 5 hours, and the contract was for 6. I did the math and they are charging over $75 per hour per guy for unskilled labor, so that kinda bugged me.

Rent your own trailer and hire the homeless before you use this company. Youll get better service, and a better price. And Yes Bekins you did not service our move, that is because I refused to use your service after dealing with your lack of professionalism, kind of like the comment you left concerning my review! Bekins is an over priced, under-serviced company with an attitude. Next time someone expresses a negative opinion, work on correcting the issue not mocking the the unsatisfied. Thank you Bekins for helping prove my point concerning your attitude.

The office can use some work on customer service. It would take several tries to call and to get a hold of someone. It would also take awhile to hear back from the office. The moving it self was great. They loaded up the stuff on time and did a good job with the delivery. The driver was very nice.

Just hired Bekins to help move from our rent house to a home we just purchased, both in Yakima. Best moving experience ever. Filled out application online for a moving estimate, submitted after business hours. They called the next day to setup a free in person appraisal and estimate. They were available to do the move on weekend, which was important for us so we did not have to take off of work. They showed up on time and were extremely careful with all of our property loading and unloading it. Asked for and followed directions about what was going where. No complaints. Highly recommend them.

We moved mom into a retirement community and had a very small window of time to get things loaded and unloaded so as not to interrupt seniors during meals. The movers were very helpful, quick, and efficient and the move was completed in record time. We have used Bekins Yakima for past moves and they never disappoint. We have another large move coming up in the near future and we will be calling them again!

Was totally happy with the service I received. Not only office staff but most especially the guys who did all the packing, loading and unloading went above and beyond to help me out. Other than Bekins I had no other help and a fractured foot at the time too - they basically rescued me. They were all friendly and good humored all the time with me, I really appreciated that as I was panicking and they were all helping to assure me they would take care of anything I hadnt done myself. I would recommend these guys any day of the week. Kudos.

Had a good experience, staff was very pleasant to deal with. They forgot one vault of our items, but found it and had it delivered the next day. Overall very satisfied with our move and would recommend them to others.

I want no stars, but it wont let me do that.Avoid. At all costs! Even though the bid was 2500 higher than anybody in Yakima to move only 200 miles, we had heard good things about Bekins. It was a disaster. Even with the overpriced insurance, our damage claims were shorted over 70%. The crew that came out of Spokane to deliver were super helpful, and they showed us the truck with everything piled on top of each other, not secured. The salesman could care less, they all just kept referring me to this 3rd party claims department.Simply horrible, and we have moved all over the west coast. This 200 mile move was the worst experience in 30 years. We are STILL finding damaged items.

The driver was excellent both as a driver and leader of the team. Friendly, hardworking crew. Respectful and pleasant, even at the end of the day! I would be happy to get to know any of them more.

Bekins Northwest did everything I asked of them and more. They quickly yet carefully packed every large item in my BASEMENT apartment and moved them to my new residence in no time. The hourly rate for an intrastate move sounded a little high at first but after watching them move every heavy object in my place including a solid wood desk without company Id say worth every cent.

The driver and packers were very polite and hard working. The only reason I took a star off was because there were only 2 workers unloading on the delivery end. It was a long haul plus an elevator, so that didnt help.

Packers were very careful to ensure nothing was broken when boxing up our things. Movers worked overtime to ensure that our stuff was loaded on the truck in one day according to our plan. THey were loading by car headlights. And they kept amazingly detailed inventory. The two movers who delivered our stuff were courteous and worked very hard but the company only sent movers to unload a full truck so I helped carry furniture and boxes. The company had great staff but should send more folks for both loading and unloading. And despite great care, an important piece of furniture was damaged with minor cracks and scrapes.

Excellent care taken with all items, carefully inventoried, all furniture reassembled and ready for use. Great customer service and responsiveness, on time pick up and delivery.

I am moving to Yakima soon from out of state. I got a quote for Bekins (which was the most I had ever paid for movers but there didnt seem to be a lot of options). After signing the quote, days later they called me to say my slot had already been bookedThey kindly informed me they could pencil me in later. The new date was a weekend, which they charge a higher rate, a 4 hour minimum for the job and charge me for truck they would drive to the job.Its a simple unpacking job for out of state shipped move. It only took 2 hours to load it! When I told them I didnt need the truck only they labor, they didnt care and said they billed for the truck regardless.So after booking over me, they want to charge me to drive to my house with a truck I dont want, for hours I dont need, on a day I dont want. How generousAll I asked was for them to include the drive time towards, the 4 hour minimum, but they were too greedy to oblige
