Cute spot with good coffee/tea. Tried the pumpkin spice chai and it was great. Was a little extra sweet but tasted great. Wish it was open for longer hours.
This is my favorite coffee spots in the area. There Aztec Mocha is why this review gets a 5 star. Truly delicious. Their Cold brew is a great alternate option. For breakfast sweets, I recommend their cinnamon rolls, which are enough for two. They also have a varied selection of breakfast sandwiches, which will fill your savory itch
Though busy, our baristas had a very nice attitude! Great cardamom latte!
Food was good as always and my oat milk chai really hit the spot. Spent a couple hours here working on embroidery projects. Great atmosphere for it. the playlist of music was also on point Today.
Solid iced coffee drinks. The summer eclipse was pretty tasty. The cold brew was a little more bitter than im used to. The staff was friendly and the line moved pretty fast. Definitely a nice alternative to Starbucks or Dutch.
Nice atmosphere and good coffee but a bit pricey for my daily fix. Probably visit it once or twice a month to relax with my laptop (it has lots of plugins)
I can’t figure this place out. The ambiance is nice enough but the employees are hit or miss. One lady is super chatty with a customer (that’s great!) and another doesn’t even say hello when I approach the counter. The coffee isn’t anything to write home about but it’s good. I’ve not found a place in the Tanasbourne area that’s better coffee wise.
Always a great stop. Good coffee, good food, great service!
Nice coffee shop friendly staff, Im not a big fan of the coffee though but then again I got drip coffee so maybe their flavored drinks are better. Got the sandwich, it was good but its not freshly made. I think its frozen and warmed in store so not customizable at all. They have a nice pastry selection including gluten free coffee cake. Yum. I would give them 4 stars but its a coffee shop.. coffee should be great!
The coffee is the bestThe people are a mixed bag. You have a 50/50 chance of getting someone friendly. The hours are the worst. Its barely open during the day and calls itself insomnia but will barely see the sunset in winter.
Always delicious coffee and such a nice place to relax and read, chat, work, whatever! 4 stars only because they dont have soy milk as an option
When Im visiting from out of town, I LOVE visiting here. Service is rad and espresso is wonderful and food is super delish. Love the vibe there.
I mean come on, what’s not to love?! Their stellar, friendly staff, the great coffee, and amazing pastries? Why are you even looking at my review, seriously? Just go there already!
One of my favorite coffee shops! The pastries there are not overly sweet, which I like.
Coffee? Great. Food? Amazing. Atmosphere? Perfect!
They know me and my wife by name. The whole staff is super friendly, but specifically Maria is amazing, Luey is great, Denzel is the man, and Sofie is so polite. They are always friendly and honestly the best coffee place around. I no longer step foot in any other coffee spot.
Came for the latte but the chocolate chip cookie was super fantastic. Latte was alright, not as amazing as the cookie.
The atmosphere and quality of this place was incredible pre covid epidemic, and while theyve done well with managing post epidemic changes the quality of the drinks at this location have fallen in my opinion. Maybe its placebo and just the difference between drinking a mocha out of a big comfy mug verses a stale generic Starbucks cup to go. I feel like theyre missing an opportunity by not setting themselves apart from the competition in that regard. Theres pretty much no reason to choose them over another generic coffee place like Starbucks other then the fact that other companies are corrupt as hell.Customer service isnt too great. I had a drink that was not to my liking and casually mentioned this but there was no offer to replace it. I dont complain and simply purchased another drink, but other establishments would have jumped to correct any error.
Discovered my large latte was only just over half full when I took off the lid this morning :/
I ordered the real caramel latte blended it does not taste like caramel its not sweet its not good at all I will never be back here note to self tip after you get your drinks not before
Their Latte/Cappucino/Mocha is amazing!I didn’t like bakery items - Cinnamon roll was too sugary, not very fresh ; Menu said Quiche had tomato & basil but it was plain ; bagel was average ..4 stars for warm welcoming staff & coffee !
Great lattes and breakfast sandwiches! I always love a cardamom oat milk latte and Insomnia Coffees is so good. I also enjoyed a egg & cheese biscuit sandwich. The staff is always super friendly!
Great locally owned coffee shop. Uses blends from local roaster, Dapper & Wise, and has multiple pastry options for snacks to go along with your beverages.Has both indoor and patio seating. This shop is surrounded by office parks, single home neighborhoods, apartment complexes and three large parks, meaning that it gets a ton of business. While lines can be long (particularly on weekend mornings), the staff is attentive and professional. They always have kind words and smiles even as they cycle through a myriad of orders.
Extremely busy. Typical prices. Nice staff.
Excellent coffee. Stopped in for my standard 12oz latte and it was absolutely fantastic. Perfect roast, and they do treat cups for dogs! I will be back!
Great coffee, friend staff! Real nice atmosphere to sit and drink a cup of coffee!
It is an Insomnia so I love it, the owners and that it is conveniently located That said, this is my least favorite of their locations. My order usually doesnt come out right and its less welcoming and friendly than the other locations. I recommend the one on Baseline for that homey/friendly Insomnia atmosphere where they get your drink right and fix it when it isnt.
Baristas can be a hit or miss as far as friendly service goes but w/all that being said, it doesnt matter because the coffee is amazing! Never had a bad cup of coffee here and they know how to make drinks correctly. For some reason, Starbucks doesnt know how to make an extra dry cappuccino...but no issues at Insomnia!
The coffee here can’t be described as anything less than unicorn crack. Thanks for saving the life of a new mother. And thanks for never batting an eye when my sister insists on ordering her drink as “hot choccy.”
Great coffee and friendly staff. Wish they had punch cards or some sort of a rewards program, but I will hands down pay full price for those chai lattes!
My favorite coffee shop in the area
Great coffee, nice staff. A little spendy but it is quality joe.
Great coffee, but their food is what I usually think of when I chose to go here. The bagel sandwiches are a personal favorite, with the quiche being a close second. This is where I go when I want to get good coffee and good food in the morning.
Strawberry banana smoothie was great. Dig the atmosphere too
Charming little spot. Remember when they were down the block where the Vet clinic was and are now a block down east in the same mini strip mall. Great first date place or to renew old acquaintances as well. Have reopened, but no indoor seating allowed as per last visit a few Sundays ago. There is a covered out door patio.
Great atmosphere, nice music, fantastic coffee, 10/10
A spectacular experience for any coffee enthusiast, their mind and their taste buds. The Insomnia Coffee Company no doubt starts with carefully sourced beans, roasts with intention and care, and then ensures that nothing goes wrong by hiring legitimate baristas! All around, a wonderful conclusion that you shouldnt miss if youre in the area.
Coffee was good and quick. The cardamom pear muffewas amazing!
Coffee in donuts, a classic. Bagels and farious amount of opinions, not to mention the donuts were cinnamon with cream, the iced mocha I got had chocolate whip!
Great ambience, very reasonable rates, wide selection of tastes and sizes, very very polite and courteous staff, and very tasty coffee, if you have not tasted here, you have missed great coffee
My favorite coffee shop in all of Portland! I’ve been going to this location since 2010 when I lived just down the street and they were in a smaller space across the parking lot. Now I live in a different area but every time I’m near Tanasbourne I must stop here and grab a coffee or hot chocolate and a pastry!
Aztec Micha. omg! 😲
Chai is good but their times can be unreliable. Today they are supposed to close at 5pm, but they have closed their orders at 4.30pm ish
I’ve come here many times, and it doesn’t matter if they are busy or if you are absolutely the only person ordering, your drink will take 10 min or more. It’s really puzzling. And there are almost always three baristas standing by the machine chatting. Also the people that work there are all hipsters, and since I’m not, I don’t often get smiles or friendliness. Another not great thing: they won’t let you enter your own tip, they ask you, “what would you like to tip?” I want to support local biz during the pandemic but I don’t like being guilted into tipping. I always say, “I’ll tip in cash.”Unfortunately the drinks are always amazing, and this is one of the few places that makes cappuccino foam properly, so I have to come back. It’s also been really nice during the pandemic that they have outside picnic tables so you can get out of your house and be around others.
Loved the coffee and the quiche was amazing! Took the cashiers advice on a lavender coffee, great choice!
Normally quite pleased with what I get here. Tried a few espresso drinks and they typically do great work. As long as the shots are pulled right you can pretty much order anything and youll be stoked. The real caramel latte is solid. My only gripe is simply the price. Great coffee, but youre definitely paying for it. Oh, and they typically do have oat milk
Great coffee and nice, calm atmosphere. Theres plenty of outdoor seating. In a convenient location, very close to The Streets and many parks.
Good taste mocha
Blessings to these essential workers who don’t get near enough praise and not near enough in tips judging from the whiny, entitled “reviews” that just sound like kids throwing tantrums in these comments (really, you’re offended having to read a sign politely asking you to keep the bathroom clean or being asked if you’d like to leave a tip for workers being exposed to Covid all day long, what is wrong with people?) Coffee is always great, bakery items are always delicious. Thank you, insomnia!
One of the better coffee places in town and around PDX. Very simple coffee and they used to let you taste their brewed coffee before you could order a brew. Nice outdoor seating as well
Very busy and a little pricey but the cafe drinks are so worth it. I think its their espresso that makes everything taste amazing. The staff are always very friendly and quick at getting out the many orders.
Tipping should be optional. I understand they didnt want the customers to touch the screen on their Square device, but asking for how much were willing to tip so they could input on behalf of us was essentially forcing us to tip. It was an unpleasant experience for someone who came the first time. None of the places Ive been to took that kind of method, and everyone is in the same situation.
Cool vibe, great service, delicious coffee drinks and sweet outside seating!
This is a nice chic coffee house. This venue is in a strip mall so they have shared parking. The lot can be pretty full but you will always find an open spot. The look on the inside of the coffee house is pretty chic. They have wood stump coffee tables, a ton of unique furniture, and some high chairs. The service wasnt that great but it was fast. I was able to order a black forest mocha with chocolate whip cream. Very sweet drink and I want some more.
Indoor and outdoor seating. Perfect for early morning studying or a midday coffee date!
An awesome shop. Friendly staff. And doing a great job with the distancing.
Delicious bagels, tasty hot cocoa, and excellent Covid safety precautions!
Insomnia has the best seasonal drinks. Egg nog latte is my new addiction.
The staff is friendly, the ambience needs work, perhaps more booths, cozy chairs. Music choice needs to be more mellow to fit the cozy cafe feel. Almost there in the aesthetic. Other than that it’s a nice cafe, good coffee, great location.
Always great! One of, if not the best dirty chais around. Hit it with the hemp milk for extra deliciousness. Theyre doing a good job at keeping people apart and keeping things clean! Really good to see right now!
Good coffee. Nice atmosphere
Wonderful coffee shop, good coffee, good pastries, nice staff and customer base.
Very cozy place with a mix of modern and antique furniture. They have board games also. Busy on weekdays from 5-7PM and weekends are usually busy. Their cinnamon pecan coffee cake is very nice... must try... so are their paninis.
Did not have Paninis which they used to have. For something open this late, they need to have a sandwich option. Friendly enough staff, but was really chincy with napkins. And missed something on the order. I bought $35 worth of food and drink. The restaurant should give napkins without asking, you know, so the customer can eat; its not saving any trees by shoddy service. In the bathroom, it is written please keep tidy for other customers. Let me say that I dont need management trying to mother hen me in the bathroom. Clean up your own bathroom. We were a captuve audience here because the vet was so slow. I will never choose to go here again.
Aztec Mocha! This is probably my new found favorite coffee treats. It isnt to sweet but it is very rich, anytime I have guests visiting I take them here just to try the mocha! Thats just the beginning, the staff is super sweet, I love the ambience, and it makes me happy just coming in and getting my coffee treat here.
Best Chai tea in the world.
Good coffee and fast at making drinks good food options too. Always stop here on my way to work
Nice location. Good coffee and staff
Slightly off beat in the best way. Good place as a starbucks alternative. Keeping it classy OR : )
Barista was too distracted talking with her friend the whole time. Burnt my cappuccino and only filled up the cup half way. I want a full refund before I ever return.
Excellent coffeehouse near major roadway is easy to find. Clean facility, quirky furnishings, and an open feeling into the outdoor seating because of the two glass walls. Coffee is soo tasty, I am looking forward to coming back soon.
They have great coffee and prefer them over their competition.
Average selection of pastries and baked goods. Nice selection of coffees and peas. Very large dining and sitting area to hang out if you wish. Prices are average. Good parking.
The CUTEST coffee shop. some of the best coffee in town. Awesome breakfast options. And yummy pastries. They seem to keep everything in house.Outdoor seating is always a plus.
Their blended mocha had chocolate whip cream which was unexpected and awesome! The coffee is great, the staff is super cool, and theres tons of comfortable seating. Not a surplus of plugs for electronics, but you could probably find at least one if youre camping out there for a bit.
Great coffee in a charming location. A popular spot for good reason. Despite a long line the had the staff to get your drink quickly.
Seriously one of the most impressive coffee shops I have ever been to, and I have tried a lot. Their coffee is especially diverse in what they offer on the menu, my personal favorite being the Aztec Mocha, which has a cinnamon taste mixed with the chocolate for a gritty, sweet, and savory taste thats also smooth. My girlfriend is a major fan of the honey cardamom latte.Weve been visiting this ship since we moved here in September of 2018 and well continue to be regulars until we move or fall over. All of the employees are amazing, genuine, and accurate, and theres never a bad experience with customer service. Most of them dont even ask our names anymore when we order, and they even remember our conversations from the previous visit. This is a genuinely special shop and I love the atmosphere, tastes, and people.
This place was amazing! The coffee is delicious and the baristas were warm, inviting, friendly. They also have a variety of comfortable seating options. I will definitely be back.
