After an unexpected stop to Trading post, im glad to say i had a positive experience! Pete, Vicki and the rest of the staff were very friendly and courteous! Cool shop. Lots of unusual used stuff. Worth stopping by to look around. You may find something you didnt even know you wanted. Bring in your stuff for cash or store credit. Prices they offer for items are good and fair for a resale shop. They have to make a profit which has to be expected.

Honestly pretty expensive for a consignment shop, if you come here unless you really search youre not gonna find a deal, however, what you will find is literally everything else, this store has the biggest range of items Ive ever seen in a consignment shop, a lot of it good quality, everything is kept orderly and clean and put into nice little sections to make everything easier. I probably wont come here for like a TV or anything but I will come here if I need special tool parts or some obscure items I cant find anywhere else. Honestly buying or not you should stop in and take a look around

Over priced junk.sold me a guitar that new was 85 for 65.i paid 65 and no case no strap and guitar was out of tune severly.not being a knowledgeable guitar guy I listened to the clerk.later told by a friend it was worth 0.thanks trading post.

Guy posts item for sale on marketplace. I say I’m interested. He gives me his address and I reply that I am on my way and will be there in 16 minutes(per gps). Raced over there and when I arrive he says item is sold.I’ve always wanted to stop in and check out this small business and this was unfortunately my first and last experience walking in their doors.Bad business practices are just bad for business.

Pete and his associates are great people and they treat all of their customers like friends. Theyve got a huge selection of just about anything in their store and at great prices. They also pay fair for items you bring in and are open to trading as well. They always prepare ahead for seasonal needs, having enough inventory in stock for the rush, whether it be snow blowers or lawn mowers or whatever. Tons of electronics, collectibles, tools...all the good stuff!

I enjoy stopping in they always have cool stuff. Recently bought a go kart for my kids they love it, runs great. They worked out a good deal for me I took advantage of the layaway they extended payment period out for me to give me more time to pay it off. Ive been to other pawn shops near my house in McHenry I think this is my new favorite place. I got to admit I was skeptical about stopping in seeing some of the reviews but it was well worth checking out.

People seem to forget that this is a pawn shop lol. Yes, they will resell your item for profit! If you dont like that, go through the hassle of selling it yourself on ebay or craigslist!!!!

CALLED ahead told them I had a sewing machine in a cabinet and was told $75 to $100. When I drove over there they first guy saw it and said he could offer even more. Then another guy came from the back they told me that they dont buy machines in the cabinet.

Happy customer done business multiple times now so far no complaints. Brought gold in I got offered $36 by Gold max got offered $48.50 from these guys. Would recommend this place to other people. I guess it depends on who you deal with.

After visiting a few times i got a very unwelcome feeling walking in and extreme low ball offers on my items. They dont have a good system of price checking either, if you want to know what they will give you look up your item on e-bay and cut that price in half the deduct five dollars. Over all its just an other scalping resale shop.

I had a 200$ ipad to sell, new model, even still in the box it was so new, and they said they could go no higher than 40$ if i wanted to sell it to them. It was an Apple model. Could not believe how much they lowballed me. Ended up walking away because 40$ for a brand new model, 200$ that i had payed for it at Best Buy, only getting 40$ out of it was not going to be ok with me. I wasmt trying to double the price, i had though maybe Id get at least 70$ or around that ballpark. I had asked why this was, and told them i was selling it because my daughter wanted the other model so now I had an Ipad that I didnt need, so I was wondering if it could go any higher than 40$ and still. They said no higher. Never again.

Extremely rude, they undermined my items when me and my friend brought in some things we were trying to get rid of. I know the value of what I brought in and one of the employees just came up and literally just pointed at stuff and said $1 for things without even looking. I also want to mention a friend of mine brought in a motorcycle here, they downright lied about the Kelley Blue Book value of it saying it was worth $500. When he went home and searched it on Kelley Blue Book and it was valued at $1,500. Then they had enough nerve to say that they would not even offer the $500 and they would only offer around $300 for it. A week later in the Crystal Lake classified it sold for $1,300 easy. This place is a RIP OFF, your better off donating your stuff instead of dealing with these people.

RUDE SERVICE!!!! If you are going there to sell something you will have a better chance at selling it yourself on Craigslist or Ebay, you would double and some cases triple your money. I did the research on how much my items are worth online, and I came in expecting for them to offer me a little less to half the price, but I was shocked at the prices they offered. I am not exaggerating, they literally offered me $1 for items that were almost 100 years old that I did research on and I know the value is much more than that. These are the kind of people in that if you brought them a $100 bill they would offer you $50 for it because it is folded or creased.

You can find some cool and random things, but theyll low ball you if you try to sell anything.

Sold my tools to them gave me store credit and I got a 60 Plasma great deal.I will shop there again. THanks guys keep up good work.

They give you almost nothing for your items, then post them for sale for 4x the amount they gave you. Place has alot of dusty old junk. No deals there.

These guys are the best,i know that it can get busy and when i hear that ther customer service is bad, those people are full of it. these people are here to help you and buy from you, new or used. always remember,,, they need to make a profit too. they also have to pay gas electric phone internet and then shipping things out too. i just bought a paint sprayer and it is awsome. my girlfriend sold them some things and she got a very good reasonable amount . my girlfriend and i love ther cat and macaw bird named ruby, it brings a more inviting experience when entering the place. keep up the good work

I brought in a saw and was given a bogus price based on a listing off Ebay for a saw that was not even close to the model I brought in. Of course the listing was less than half of what I should have been offered. I purchased 2 bikes this summer and 1 had a slow leak in the tire and the shifting mechanism on the second broke into pieces the 3rd time I rode it. Do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY from the Trading Post, THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
