What a horrendous experience we continue to have. Like other reviewers, the loading of the box a year ago was smooth. Now we are trying to ship across the country and TERRIBLE. We wait on the line for an agent, who then tells us they cant do long distance moves and we have to speak to a different agent. Then the call gets dropped or someone says we have to speak to the first representative we ever dealt with, but shes always busy. She doesnt answer our emails or call us back and no one else wants to help us or says they dont know when our stuff is arriving. DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE WITH YOUR LONG DISTANCE MOVE!!
I had a great experience when I first set up to have my belongings stored but now (1 year later) I’m trying to retrieve my belongings and I cannot reach anyone. I’ve been trying for over a week - multiple numbers, online contact form, emails, live chat - nothing. This is so incredibly frustrating.
THEY DO NOT ANSWER PHONE TO ACCEPT PAYMENT AND THEN CHARGE A LATE CHARGE. TRYING TO GET MY BOX PICKED UP FOR THREE DAYS!!! NO ONE ANSWERS THE PHONE AND NOW THE NAME ON THE BOX IS BIG BOX STORAGE. WHAT IS GOING ON HERE.
I moved from Seattle to NYC and had a fantastic experience with Smartbox start-to-finish. Their team was professional, friendly, and efficient (Lauren, Gwen, and anyone else I missed). They offered as well a $125 credit to book in the next week-without prompt- and they were already the lowest priced pod company.I had researched several moving box companies and Smartbox was one of two that was able to speak to tricky Manhattan sidewalk/running truck laws, and the truck driver’s hourly rates were significantly cheaper than the other guys’.On Seattle initial delivery day, Brian showed up right when he had previously double-confirmed he would, and was efficient, friendly, and a master of the forklift (I lived in a tricky, hilly, narrow neighborhood in Seattle with little street parking). He showed me how to best secure the Smartbox and advised me on the best ways to secure the box overnight. He picked up the boxes two days later right on schedule and away went my things went on a cross-country adventure.I was overseas when I coordinated my move-in timeframe with the team, and they promptly and efficiently directed me to Victor, who was also awesome. He coordinated his time with me, double-confirmed his timing with traffic estimates, and made the experience A+. An NYC miracle happened and Victor & my moving guys (Great Movers, also awesome and reviewed in a separate post) were there on time, incredibly efficient, and pulled off the box unloading in an hour.All in all, what could have been an obscenely stressful experience ended up being as stress-free as one could hope a cross-country move could ever be. I will definitely use Smartbox for future moves!
The staff from being to end were professional and courteous. Delivery and pick up were on time .The driver notify us when they were 30 minutes away. I would definitely recommend Smart box to my friends.
The pick up and drop off of the storage box was delayed on both ends for the long distance move. It was easy to load and unload but other than that I think I would have just hired movers. We thought we would have a definite delivery date but that moved many times and the lack of communication once our stuff was enroute was misleading.
Worst experience ever. Do not recommend. They have hidden costs, such as extra fees when you need your box returned. Talking with customer service and through email they were rude and not professional (I talked to Lauren). It was such a stressful experience when trying to schedule a return delivery time because I have to wait all day for the driver and they forgot to send me a confirmation time. They were so rude, I felt like I was being treated like a baby, like I didnt understand anything. Everything was done through the phone and there were barely any records of anything - thus I did not trust them. The driver also rounded up the price of him helping me move my boxes, knowing that I was just a college student and he charged me twice as much for the time he was actually there for. Never again will I want to use their services.
