This was our second time buying a vehicle through this Carmax and, as usual, it was fantastic. I cannot say enough good things about our sales rep, Renee. I took a couple of trips here before deciding on the vehicle I wanted to buy (I even signed up for a 24 hour test drive, turned around 5 minutes into it, and brought the vehicle back because I didn’t like the way it drove) and Renee was nothing but patient, caring, and so, so helpful. First, I told her I was interested in a Ford Escape. Any time an Escape came in, she texted me right away and asked if I wanted to make an appointment to come test drive it. I made multiple appointments online myself for a bunch of different vehicles (I am very picky and wanted to try them all) and one of those times Renee even offered to come in two hours early (how amazing is this?) to help me personally. She was available via text at any hour of the day that I texted her and was very communicative during the financing process, which took a couple of days (I had outside financing). I was so happy I found a vehicle I love and was able to buy a vehicle from Renee. Her customer service is 5 stars! We were also very thrilled with the price we got for our trade-in. Thank you, Carmax, for a stress-free experience. We will be back in the future, I’m sure of it :)

The car selling experience was excellent. The staff were great to work with. Bill came up to us quickly to introduce himself and immediately started helping us with selling our car. He was prompt, efficient, and was very communicative through the process. Everyone we interacted with explained to us the next steps and communicated great throughout the experience. RC wrapped up the transaction quickly and efficiently, and I was so thankful that the team who inspected the car provided belongings left behind to us at the end of the transaction. The online value quote for the vehicle matched the value at the location so there were no surprises. Excellent experience and will continue to do car-buying/selling with the CarMax team. Thank you!

Buying our new used car was amazingly simple. No dealer sales people breathing over your shoulder. I checked the Kelley Blue Book for the cars value and CarMax was actually under by $2K. The staff was very courtesy and on the ball. The only advice I can give - if you dont find an auto on their local lot, be careful that you locate one within a 1 to 2 state radius because you will be required to cover the shipping cost and its non-refundable. Our car was shipped in from Reno, NV to their Gilbert, AZ auto center for a cost of $270 - very reasonable.

My experience started off great with the sales team, however ended horrible with the service team. I purchased a 2019 vehicle with the reassurance that any issues under the 90 days would be covered no issue. A week later i took the vehicle in for issues with the backup camera as well as some of the trim warping and coming apart from the inside paneling. I was told these things met their standards and not they would not repair my concerns. I then escalated the issue to the executive relations team and finally got partial resolution for the paneling but they have refused to repair the camera and instead prefer i return the vehicle after dealing with this by taking it in 4 times already. My fiance likes the car but the fact that they dont stand by their promises and their standards for what they think is ok for the cars they sell is shocking. I will never do business with CarMax again because of how they disregarded my concerns, my time and the fact that management didn’t even talk to me instead they had others speak on their behalf! If the camera quality meets their standards, as did the trim, then clearly these standards are horrible! NOTE: This picture is at night and no direct light hitting it. I took multiple days off work to deal with this and if they are setting false expectations with their customers then this is just wrong!

I brought a Kia Soul. The Manager Tom was very rude to me because I requested a certain type of Sales Consultant. Then Brandon the Sales Rep I was dealing with was very uninterested in making a sale. He did not seem competent in his job . He kept running over to a Manager. Total lack of confidence in the selling world. Then Brandon lost an important document of mine and tried to say that I did. I had given him complete control over my documents. His manager had to fix everything for me . Than God for him. The Finance dept and signing dept are all young kids.It was a horrible experience.

If I could give zero stars I would. Brought my trade in to get appraised, after they test drove it my car wouldnt start. Had a mechanic come to carmax to check it out and he said they fried our starter. Manager offered to Uber me home. Unbelievable

I was there today and sat down with salesman Jon, I was interested in trading in my vehicle for a new one and was interested in doing the 24 hour test drive for several reasons. He was very hesitant in me doing this for some really odd reason and stated doing a regular test drive was efficient I felt like I was singled out discriminated against and also felt it was rude and disrespectful creating a question of false advertisement or just him having an issue with me as a person….. my question is would he have done that to any other customer ?? as I have purchased 2 cars from them previously! that’s very bad customer service …. What happen to treat all of your customers the same …… I left that place fast as I was about to put down a pretty good amount of a down payment I thought about it and left right away I will never think about purchasing a vehicle from them again ! I’ll take my business elsewhere

Great service and kind staff. CarMax bought my car recently and it was no hassle. I did have one issue when getting the quote. They forgot to put my name on the list for appointments. I spent about 1 hour outside waiting. This was quickly resolved after talking to the staff.

Sold my truck to CarMax. The process is easy and was handled professionally. The only issue I would have is that you need to update your system to allow for a set number of appointments for selling a vehicle. The list was long and getting longer while I was waiting. Other than that, the online process was easy, setting an appointment was easy, and the check-in process through signing paperwork was easy! Helps that I had title and paid off truck!

So easy! Just got an online estimate done and brought it in to be inspected - walked out a few hours later with a nice-sized check for my car. I didnt have to worry about meeting a stranger for a private sale, or problems with dealing with a buyer and his bank. Very little paperwork, thank goodness, and the only reason it took a while is because that night they were very busy with a lot of customers also selling their cars.

Huge corporation no individual treatment horrible customer experience even brought my issue to the managers attention in the manager was unwilling to budge could not test drive because I did not have current insurance and even though I was okay with not test driving I still do not turn the vehicle on to check out the sound system horrible place will never go back there again whenever referring anybody there again and quite personally had a much better experience at Earnhardt Chrysler Jeep. If they give you an offer for your vehicle do not even bother going down. Made an appointment to come down. Waited an hour just to be told my offer is $3,500 less than what I was originally quoted, for damage that my car has that the inspector could not even show me. My car has never even been in an accident. What a scam. Dont even bother. Maybe the car buying experience is good but we couldnt even get that far.

I work for carmax and I was at the store just to do a transfer that it takes about 10 min or less for one of my family members. We got there like 20 min before Closing and they told us that we couldnt do anything in 20 min when a transfer can be fast and easy. Really disappointed. I had even everything ready so they will fill it up easy... they really did not wanted to help at all.

Heres my experience since you have asked for it. While driving my new car home, I felt heavy vibrations in the steering wheel on the freeway and it turned out to be a wheel out of balance. I called the service department and they said they couldnt get me in for 2 weeks so I had to fix it myself. Im not waiting 2 weeks for them to fix something that should have already been checked out. Carmax says they check the cars wheels 15 Ways! Well I guess wheel balance wasnt one of them? Meanwhile a month later Im still waiting for my plate in the mail. I checked with the DMV and it hasnt even been registered yet. I call the office and I get an attitude right away about Do I know how backed up the DMV is right now? No sorry for the delay or anything like that. Terrible customer service. Terrible experience.

Horrible experience, was the most painful car buying process Ive ever gone through. Would not recommend anyone use CarMax to buy online, probably smoother to just go to the dealership. The entire process took over a month! Their communication out was horrible, many times asking for an update to be ignored.

We purchased a 2017 truck, which we had shipped from Georgia to the Gilbert CarMax location. Our experience with the staff at CarMax Gilbert was fantastic. Dante was our direct contact and was amazing, understanding when our daughter needed something to keep her busy, he provided a coloring book. Derrick, another salesman assisted us when we returned the truck after a 24 hour test drive and he made the experience amazing as well. Finally Kyleigh handled our processing and paperwork and she was extremely helpful and friendly.We will 100% go through CarMax again as the ease of the process was so refreshing.

Just bought a Nissan Frontier that is littered with problems. It was fixed up just enough to get past the 4 thousand mile warranty and immediately started falling apart. I recommend the extended care plan but beware. I had my truck in the shop for a whole week and I only had it back for two days before I had to bring it back for a whole mess of “new” repairs. And now there is busted part on back order with no ETA on when it will arrive and I can either risk driving an unsafe vehicle or be without one. They won’t cover rental because my car is not being held at a repair facility, but it’s not safe to drive?

I recently sold me car to Carmax my experience at best was mediocre. When I first came in to get my car appraisal finalized (from the online offer). I was told 30 minutes to finalize offer, it took an hour. I couldnt do anything because it was Sunday and Carmax has to call the lienholder to get a payoff which I understand. I came back Tuesday morning with my finalize offer and was told it would take 20 minutes to get paperwork in order. It took an hour to finally get seated to do the paperwork. To make matters worse on the check Carmax gave me the zip code was listed as 00000. My bank flagged the check as fraud and was not able to have access to my bank account because the flagged check. After 3 business days my bank finally got a hold of a representative from Carmax to verify funds. I was surprised that Carmax made this type of mistake. Make sure next time you sell your car to Carmax that all the information on the check is correct.

Went to test drive a car, got there, its on hold, like most cars in the lot, on hold. Asked if we could just get the keys so we can look at the tech, sound, seats etc. Waited for 45 minutes to get keys. Employees standing around chatting, wandering around doing nothing. I walked. Say what your want about old school car dealers but they’d never let a potential customer sit and rot and lose a sale.

Was happy to be able to sell my car and get rid of it. However, the process was very long and drawn out. I wasnt trading in, only selling. They had all my information and appraisal yet the appraisal part took 2hrs. By the time I went to the Business Services side to sign it would have been another hour and a half so left for the day. I came back another day (today 6/15/21) and signed all paperwork. There was no one ahead of me, had all the docs needed and called ahead twice to confirm how long it would take. Each time they said typically 20-30 mins. I came in at 10:45am and didnt leave until 12:30pm -JUST TO SIGN. My feedback would be to one, give a better estimate of time and two, be more efficient for your customers. Having to come in on 2 separate occasions means time out of my work day.

Pleasantly surprised with my first CarMax experience. I sold them a car. They gave us the best offer by far and I had offers from all the big names. They were quick. They sat us immediately with someone who took 5 minutes to confirm some information. I had made an appointment online. Then sent us the appraiser outside who was also quick. They took 10 minutes to gather information and provide a price. 30 minutes later we signed and had a check.

Arrived at 10:45 for an 11am appointment to look at a specific car. Lobby was very busy. We were greeted and told it would be a bit of a wait. Appointment time came and went, and after another 45 minutes with no one attending us, we let the host know we were leaving and went down the street.An hour after that, we recieved an email from CarMax telling us that we had missed our appointment, listing the incorrect car we had reserved to test. Lost even more confidence in the business.I understand that things happen, and if we had come in off the street, I would expect a wait. But we were given an appointment. Made time in our day to do this. A preemptive email or phone call would have gone a long way. A check-in from anyone while we were waiting would have as well.Respecting someones time is common courtesy and very basic customer service, especially when dealing with such a major purchase.We left and headed down the street, where for $2k more than we were planning to spend at Carmax, we picked up the brand new version of the same car from the dealer.

Everyone in the office works at one pace: slow. I rarely ever write a negative review, but this was ridiculous.. we spent far too long here and kept getting pushed off. No explanation. Then told it was a “printer issue,” meanwhile everyone else around us was helped… I’ve dealt with Carmax to sell numerous cars, and this was 4x the “normal” length of time I spent at the others. Wasted an entire day “off” from work, not a single care from the staff. Will never return.

Submitted the online form on Friday to get an offer for my 2013 Kia Soul. Liked the offer - it came in higher than Carvana so I scheduled the appt for the next day to take the car in to the location. Arrived at 5:20pm. The lobby was busy but most people had already been helped. I waited about 10 mins and a gentleman obtained my offer code and keys for an inspection. It took about 30-40 mins before they came back to say they would honor the online offer. I then had to check in on the business office side. No one worked with a sense of urgency on that side but they were personable. After a significant wait, Bea assisted with the final paperwork which took all of 5 minutes and I was out the door with check in hand. Overall, a super easy process, I just wish it had gone a little faster. All together I was at Carmax for just over 2 hours.

Ive bought 4 cars from Carmax, love the no haggle experience and the staff is always very friendly however recently I bought a Toyota Tacoma and I wanted it to be a quick transaction as I already had a busy weekend. I did everything ahead of time from financing, to picking out my truck, to the trade in. I figured it would be a quick exchange, hour and a half max. Instead it turned into a 4 hr. plus debacle where they couldnt find my trade in offer, paperwork, etc. It was so incredibly frustrating and we were treated by one of the staff members as if we were idiots. I wont let one bad experience sour my relationship with Carmax but needless to say I was not happy with the service received. Had it not been for this I would have rated 5 stars.

I found just the car that I was looking for at a very fair price. If I have any complaint(s) at all it relates to the following - 1) The car was dirty. The interior and exterior really should have been detailed. In fact, I ended up taking it somewhere to be detailed for $350 to make the car look like (and smell like) it should have when I bought it. 2) While our sales rep, David, was very friendly and helpful, the young woman in finance was not. At one point, she clearly did not realize that we were within earshot while she was complaining about us. Thats not terribly professional. Overall, the total experience was probably a 3.5 (but I opted to round up in this instance).

We have a car supposedly waiting for us to be delivered and we can’t get anyone to communicate with us for 48 hours.Spare me the boilerplate copy/paste meaningless reply. First off, some great people who work there - Logan, Robyn and Roger. Theyre the only reason Carmax is getting three stars, not one.I purchased a Jeep Wrangler there, which I transferred from CA, where it had been allegedly gone through with a fine-toothed comb. Both lots claim to do an amazing 150-point inspection process. However, when my vehicle was at Gilbert (Gilbert Carmax had possession of it a full week before calling me to come in), it was light-years from show-ready. It was filthy, the engine cover was literally lying loosely between the hood & engine, a door hinge part was off and lying in the backseat, and the check engine light was on. I was promised that theyd fix this immediately and its going to be more like a week before I drive my Jeep. Turns out it needs a new fuel tank.Stuff happens. I get it. But It all comes down to this, the 150-point inspection process is very suspect. If it isnt, both the Escondido AND Gilbert lot failed miserably in getting this vehicle tip-top and customer ready. I have purchased a Jeep that I have yet to drive and am probably still another week out. I wonder what will come first - my Jeep, or my first payment.

It was very easy to buy and trade in my vehicles. The only complaint would be the communication while waiting on what the next step was. My salesman was often gone and I was unsure what the next step was I was waiting on. Also was not offered Gap insurance which I was then reminded by my car insurance agent to ask for. Overall I believe the amount I was offered for the 2 vehicles I traded in was great and I was satisfied with my purchase

This dealership was awesome top of the line nothing better have I ever experienced. Jon who was our salesman was absolutely terrific. It was a no-pressure sales we walked in ask for what we wanted and got exactly that with no pressure at. Believe it or not the paperwork took 20 minutes so including the test drive and picking out the car we were in and out within 2 hours

I will never ever purchase a car from this place EVER AGAIN. I bought my car 3 years ago this month and I have had issues since I bought the car. I was really smart when I purchased the extended warranty because the amount of money and work that has been put into my Subaru Forester is ridiculous. Absolutely frustrating. Car max is trash.

When I was car shopping I automatically started with Carmax. I have bought 4 cars from them and have never felt rushed. This time I was trading in my 2011 Journey that had over 175,000 miles. I wasnt looking for a minivan to start with but I have 2 big dogs. Anyway, I set up an appointment to see a GMC Terrain and met a very nice and patient salesman named Rudy. He showed me the Terrain which I liked driving but was smaller than I thought it would be. Anyway, long story short, working with Rudy for 3 weeks and looking at multiple cars on the lot, I ended up getting a minivan. Rudy had never ending patience and was always kind and courteous. Buying the car and doing the paperwork only took a couple of hours and I am very happy with the car.

The process was smooth. I was there to sell my car. I received an offer which was acceptable. They clearly told me what was needed. I had a lien on my title but I had a lien release document. But since the document was not notarized it was not acceptable. The told me exactly what to do to get around the issue. One I got that done, I was all set. I turned in the car and got my check. The only disappointing thing was the long wait time. I has to wait 2 hours for my turn (therefore the 4 stars). Overall, it was good doing business with Carmax - Gilbert.
