William is the most honest and knowledgeable auto mechanic I have met. I had my car towed to his shop and he did not even know me. He gave me an estimate and knew how to fix my car while others did not. The second time I had my car towed for repair he told me straight out don’t put any more money in this car. Wow!!! William is a true professional.

My broken e-brake cable is intact and works despite being a line of failure on an inspection, this actually makes me suspicious that Varna Auto invents problems to get work. They also tried to sell me on a new ball joint and a new knuckle for the front end. To be fair, the ball joint nut must have slowly but recently come loose, this doesnt mean that either part mentioned is bad, knuckles almost never just go bad (even in winter areas). Were I totally ignorant on cars, Im sure I would have listened and would now be staring at a bill well over a thousand dollars. Avoid this shop at ALL costs, William is aggressively dishonest and terrible at nuanced conversation about the vehicle he is looking at. Anywhere else is better -- I fixed the loose nut in 10 minutes and applied some loctite and my vehicle is inspected for another year. P.S. They apparently prefer the economy line for replacement parts, as seen on the waiting room floor.

They were able to get me in quickly for an issue right before I had to travel. They were honest about the service I needed, which was less intensive than I had originally thought, and they charged me appropriately for it. Very pleased, I will be back.

Great group here and very helpful, we had a break down while towing our travel trailer from Michigan to Maine, these guys got parts, had it fixes and had us back on the road in just a few hours! So grateful!

Best of the 5-6 places Ive been to in Ithaca. Always very reasonably priced and does good work. Love that Ive been able to get my car in and fixed quickly every time.

This place is dishonest and denying the problem when they failed to fix my brake problems twice. First time, they say my brake has no problem and cleaned rotators for almost 300 dollars. When they called me on phone they said it was going to be 130, but when they gave me the bill and I was surprised it showed almost 300, they explained b/c it needs cleaning in both sides. But they never said that on phone when they called me for what needs to be done. However the cleaning did not improve the brake performance at all. When I went back to ask them, the owner (William) year drove the car and completely denied the problem until one of his technician (Joe) test drive my car and said there IS problem! They need to fix it. They changed their first identification of the problem and decided to change all the rotators and pads. The problem (braking distance is long and brake is very soft to step on and needs to step very deep to make it start to function) is a bit improved but not completely solved. In the end, I paid more than 600 dollars in total and travelled there and had my friends pick me up multiple times for a problem that could possibly be solved much cheaper and much easier if they could be honest and responsible. So I strongly recommend avoid this shop!!

I love Varna Auto! I use them for everything my car needs. They are always so nice and professional. As a young woman, Im always a little antsy that mechanics are trying to rip me off (like Midas Ithaca tried to...) but I have never experienced anything like that at Varna Auto. They always take great care of my vehicle and work quickly.

I went in for what seemed to be a easy fix and I went from a $360 dollar repair to a $700+ repair after they kept coming out saying they needed to fix something else and needed more parts..After 5 hours of sitting in their shop they then tell me that not only have they not fixed the issue but it is going to take an entire extra day of work to “figure out” what’s wrong. They then give me a “discount” of $45 dollars and stick me with a $650 dollar bill with nothing fixed and tell me it will take an extra $700 to do more testing. They seemed like nice people at first but ended up being unprofessional and didn’t do ANYTHING for me. Will never return or recommend them to anyone in the area and will tell people to stay away!!

I have been taking my car to Varna Auto for several years and am very pleased with their service. They are pleasant to work with, very fast and up-front and transparent with proposed repairs. I brought my car in for a state inspection. Everyone wore masks, the door handles looked clean, there were face shields between the registers and customers, and there was plenty of hand sanitizer. The guy I interacted with was very nice, and the team had me in and out in about 15 minutes while I waited.

They work quickly and it seems like theyre honest and do their best to save you some money. The owner is great. Ill bring my car here over the dealership any day. Theyre in a convenient location, too.

They got me in on short notice for a quick tire mount that I really needed done and other places said they were too busy.

Excellent. My wife and I have been bringing our cars here for five years. We are very pleased with the service, and with Williams recommendations. He likes to do things right. However, if you just want to keep your car alive, he is willing to look for an inexpensive alternative.

During safety inspection Varna auto discovered a fuel leak at my gas tank. I got a call, was given a very reasonable price, and they were willing to meet my needs to have the car fixed the same day. I have used this service station for many years and trust them implicitly to have my best interests in mind. They have never suggested unnecessary work, and their prices have always been fair. And, compared to dealer shops Ive used occasionally, Ive never had to bring a car back to Varna Auto to have a repair repaired.

Ive been using Varna Auto for 10 years now and couldnt be more pleased. As another reviewer said, William (and his technicians) are everything you want in a mechanic. I drive an old Subaru and and have been in with it a least once a year. With maybe one exception (where parts had to be ordered), the service was same day and hes never been too busy to look at the car the day I first call him. The price is always reasonable and always discussed in advance of the repair. On several occasions hes listed some potential repairs he may have to do and which I OK. Then when I pick up the car, it turns out that the repairs were simpler and cheaper than expected.

We first went to Varna Auto after a different shop told us we needed expensive repairs. William said we did not need those expensive repairs and fixed our van for much less. Weve been going to Varna Auto for over ten years now and the service has always been friendly, fast and fair priced. And theyre right at a TCAT bus-stop for great convenience.

Went to have car inspected..failed for a wheel bearing and hub..they wanted $850 to repair it and took my inspection sticker...I just could not do that before Christmas..called Mavis downtown and had them look at it..said it should of passed and theyd only charge me $140 to do the same job. Will never be back.

I went to Varna auto for my check engine light being on. They changed the oxygen sensor and charged me for it, but as soon as I started the car, I realized that it was still on. After discussing the issue with them, they told me to go the dealer for a thorough investigation, since the problem may be the connections or my car computer....The problem was with the wire connecting the sensor to the computer. It apparently was because the wires were not kept secure after changing the sensor or something may have fallen over it. Bad and sloppy job. waste of time and money. I do not suggest this place.

Great family business. Always treated fairly here which is rare in todays day and age. This is my mechanic for as long as they are around. Did the brakes on my toyota camry for a reasonable price and even took a look at them when there was a squeeking a week later free of charge and made an adjustment to remove the sound.
