Our experience was great at Hoback. We were from out of town and needed to rent some mountain bikes at the last minute. The sales person fitted myself and both my kids for a bike in less than 10 minutes. He took the time to share nearby rides that were the most enjoyable, based on what we were looking for. I would highly recommend this group to anyone!!

The repairs department took great care of me today! They were knowledgeable, quick and were decisive in what to do. I am grateful for their help!

Im biking across many states. The staff were knowledgeable & they have a self-service cleaning station. And they let me use a filer to file something down. Good store for all things outdoors. Highly recommend it.

I bought two years ago some snowboard boots from these guys. On my latest ski trip for whatever reason the boots were too small. I took them back into Hoback to see what they could do. They heated the boot, punched them, trying to add room for my toes. The next day I used them again, though better they were still too small.I talked to Matt the manager and he said they would work with me to solve the problem, which ultimately was a new pair of boots. Jay-Z the boot fitter customized the boots and my orthotics so the fit was perfect. Matt gave me a big discount off the new boots even though they were two years old.My wife bought boots and skis from them also and the experience was even better.I highly recommend going there for purchases and rentals.

I rented skis online the night before and the next day I went to pick them up the shop couldn’t provide me with my preferred ski length or boot size. In all honesty the shop tech said if they felt uncomfortable I could go to an on mountain rental shop at JacksonHole and exchange them... but when it’s a busy day and you only have a half day ticket at Jackson you don’t want to spend more time in the rental shops when you only have so much time to ski. Friendly staff, neat shop, they just couldn’t deliver the goods lesson learned. If you take the time to come to Jackson and you spend the money to ski it, go the extra dollar and bring your own gear. It’s a crazy steep mountain and you’re gonna want something you’re use to skiing under your feet.

Went in looking for snowboard boots for my wife. Peter was very helpful and knowledgeable, wasnt pushy at all and recommended other places we might check out since they didnt have the size my wife needed in the boot she liked. great customer service experience!

Hoback sports is a great full service bike shop located in the town of Jackson. I purchased a Specialized Ruby from this store and really liked my bicycle, but needed a fit. Pat is AMAZING!! He spent over 2 hours with me- dialing me in, looking at me,, my form, flexibility, from the ground (my feet) up and analyzed what I needed. My bike is fantastic now!! Also, they have a great service department and when my e-bike needed some adjusting and brakes (!) Alan cam to my rescue!! They have all your biking needs. No need to go anyplace else. All the staff there are super helpful and kind! Thanks so much!!

The guys that work here seem to be really nice guys, and if you want things fixed im sure theyd be knowledgeable, but the rental boards/boots are a joke. Unless you want to feel like the arch of your foot is splitting down the middle because they rented you 20 year old boots, dont rent boots here. The board looked like someone rented it in the summer and rode it down the rocky hill. I can still feel the pain in my foot 2 weeks later, so if you rent here, do so with caution

Great rental experience!I was in and out in probably 10 minutes or less and got what I needed to ski at JHMR.The blonde with braids helped me and was very nice and accommodating and made sure everything was safe and good to go before I left.I ended up renting the Blizzard Rustler 10s in 180cm. Im a 190cm +/- kinda guy but I made it work and it was fun having fresh snow in the area.If youre planning on skiing Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, make sure to reserve skis or snowboard before you get here, you wont be disappointed.

An absolutely terrific experience. Everyone was incredibly friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Ski rentals for 2 was a breeze despite being very busy. I was incredibly impressed!

I would recommend shopping or renting anywhere else from these guys. Don is a pompous and rude individual who would be better suited working as far away from customers as possible. Very argumentative. My entire team of 5 had multiple difficulties in regarding to getting service and then the service was subpar at best. Turn around at the door and run to anywhere else.

A good place for outdoors gear. Havent shopped there in winter (yet) but Im a year round, native resident. They all are knowledgeable and actually passionate about the stuff, as they actively do the gear, not just sell it. I havent experienced pressure sell there, a nice thing. A name that stands out, Don. Hes awesome. Knows things. And if you dont live here its nice to have help by someone who does. Most of the staff, from my knowledge, does summer and winter activities.

Greg was saying on the phone under his breath but loud enough to hear “ughhh... come on and stuff like that then “why don’t you just come in and look for yourself”I don’t live in Jackson and it’s a 2:30 hr drive round trip so if they don’t have it then it’s a waste of time. All the whining was ridiculously rude. I have decided to buy online.

After a very elitist experience at another shop in town ( a “narrow ski specialist”) we landed at Hoback ( with repair issues that were not in their wheelhouse).The staff was exceptionally KIND, WILLING and HELPFUL. Problem solved. I’m a customer forever.

Showed up at 5pm on a Monday in what is traditionally a shoulder season. Needed a new tire for my bike. Head to the shop counter. George helped me choose a tire based on legit experience, and went the extra mile to throw the new tire on my front wheel and throw my existing front tire onto my back wheel. Bonus points for skiing war stories. People like him make this town what it is.

Hoback was AWESOME for bike rentals! So helpful when we showed up in the morning with 3 kids under 5 years old. At the end of the day our kids were, well, very tired young kids and started the meltdown. Matt in the bike rental department was so nice to reach out to his manager to see if he could come pick up the bikes for us instead of us having to return them and then walk 1/2 mile in the rain with 3 kids, back to our motorhome :) Thank YOU Matt!!! I passed through Jackson while biking the Great Divide, a trail that runs across the country. I have been to so. many. bike shops. Shop after shop has had poor selection of gear and rude employees who don’t care about what they’re doing. Hoback Sports was the opposite. They had everything I needed, an awesome staff, and great covid measures. One of the best bike shop experiences I’ve ever had and I cannot recommend them highly enough!

Quality products, great customer service, and also amazing coverage. Prices could be better, but this is jackson, and everything is more expensive than it should be.

This is an edit of an earlier review after a good response from the owner. I was heated when I left a bad review. I bought a rack from these guys and just didn’t have the best customer experience. The two dudes that helped me just seemed bothered to help is all, but Covid is making work places like this hard to have really good days. I get it and I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt. They have a great selection and at the end of the day they were the only shop in town that could help me with what I needed and I’m grateful for that!

This was our first time renting any type of ski equipment. I was able to rent it online and pick up the evening before we went skiing so we didnt have to get it the morning of our outing. There were six of us and my brother in law with his 5 people. The guys that helped us were super nice and very patient with our young children. I woke up yesterday morning and called the shop which they were open promptly, I spoke to a very polite young man name Ethan and asked them if I needed a appointment to come in and buy new gear. No appointment was needed and when I arrived I was greeted by Cassie she was amazing and helped me purchase everything I needed for the ski season... She spent almost 4 hours custom making and matching not only ski apparel bindings boots foot beds glove, goggles, jacket and pants. She set me up with everything for a successful ski season... 👍😁🤘😁👌Hoback sports is putting my bindings on the skis today and I really look forward to picking them up and getting on the slopes here in the Jackson Hole Valley, thank you Cassie and Ethan and Jack for helping me out what a great team you are all awesome.

Came to Jackson for some epic skiing (which it was!!), but needed help with my boots (got a bad fit and needed new boots). Met with Don to discuss my best options (Im an aggressive skier with terrible shaped feet). He spent about 3 hours helping me choose the best boot and shaping the boot to fit me and my janky feet!! I have NEVER (and I mean NEVER) had a better fitting pair of boots!!! It was AMAZING to be able to ski without pain or having my feet fall asleep!! This allowed me to ski longer and harder without needing to take breaks to alleviate my discomfort. I would recommend Don and Hoback Sports to anybody needing ski service.

I went to Hoback and had my road bike fit with Don. Don was extremely knowledgeable and thorough in regards to all aspects of my bike fit. I appreciated the time he took to ensure It was done properly. I was amazed at how much of a difference the adjustments made and the comfort of my ride after my fit. I had an awesome experience purchasing a bike here. I worked with Don, who was super friendly and helped me (a cycling newbie) to learn a TON about bikes. He was very receptive to my budget and really took the time to work with me. Never felt rushed or judged, and was always greeted like a regular of the store.

Conveniently located in town. Hoback Sports carries skis and boards during the winter and bikes all year long. Great selection of gear and knowledgeable and friendly staff. Since Hoback Sports is part of the JHMR corporation, they can draw from two other shops if they do not have want you want. They are very willing to special order anything you want. Go see them.

Ive done business with Hoback Sports several times now, and Im happy to give them 5 stars. The staff all seem pretty relaxed and in-the-know, and they were very helpful getting me into road biking. If you go you should ask for Don, although everyone else seems great too.

Ever since the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort bought these guys, they have been a top notch organization. I have shopped here for both small items and large items, such as bicycles, and have always been treated well. This summer, I bought a Specialized gravel bike and had it fitted by Don, and I have to say, I have never been happier on a bike. Hes a pro, the staff are kind and courteous, and I will be coming back next year for sure!

Steve helped me find the PERFECT touring boot! He gave honest advice about the selection of boots and measured my foot multiple ways. He was super knowledgeable about all the specific gear I asked about and offered multiple options for something similar.

I went here a few months ago and rented a road bike. Upon walking in I was helped by Don. It was great. He fit me on a sweet road bike and gave me solid advice on where to ride based on the level of ride I wanted. Don is great and I thank him for making my visit Jackson that much better.

I recommend this place highly and will visit it again, SUPERB customer service!!!!!!!!! Matt is super cool and brenden and the board shop team can fix most anything!! I went here asking for help about my bike fit, not only did Don hook me up and help me with all the knowledge he could but he was also a very nice person. Most bike shops dont have approachable employees but hoback was unlike most bike shops. Highly recommend.

My skis were improperly tuned prior to my arrival in Jackson. Matt tuned my Blizzard Brahmas so they performed wonderfully. It saved my visit to Jackson Hole.......thanks.

We were on vacation in the Tetons. My 13-year-old daughter wrecked her bicycle and ruined both the front and back tube. It was a cheap bike and I brought it here expecting the repair cost to be outrageous. The total repair cost was less than $30 including parts and was done in about 15 to 20 minutes. The employees were friendly and the service was great and fast.

Great shop if you purchase off the rack and they carry great brands. They carry Flylow among others.Be careful when going for anything technical such as a boot fit or binding mount. Last two times I was in they mounted my skis incorrectly. How is mounting to factory recommended confusing?!?! Last boot fit I had they were angry I didnt purchase the boots there, although I was paying for the service. The boot fitter started off by telling me how cheap and crappy my boots were, but got all put out when I pointed out the exact same boot on their display shelf. I shouldve left right there but was on a time restriction. Ive had several boot fits over the years and I could tell he was rushing through it and I even had to tell him a few steps that needed to be done. Ended up being the worst boot fit Ive ever had.Bottom line, this is a great retail shop for quick purchases or rentals. Anything else like repairs or mounts, go somewhere else in the Village or in town. Hoback used to be the premier shop in JH, but they purged a lot of their knowledgeable staff a few years ago and its evident.The current staff isnt very knowledgeable and theyre only interested in servicing who they believe is the next high roller.

I had been referred by people in town to go here for ski boot grinding. When I entered the shop everyone was friendly, and I asked if they would be able to grind out more of the toe box of my ski boots. My ski boots had already been grinded out a lot and I asked them if they felt confident handling the boot and they said they would not need to grind them and that they would rather punch out the toe box. I was surprised, and I wanted to confirm that they felt confident handling this and they did not have any concern. When I came back to pick up my boots, they had punched too far in the boot and the toes on each boot had very soft plastic. Hitting the toe on a rock would definitely break the boot. They told me that this would not be a problem or affect my skiing ability. I told them that there were cracks in the boot already and that it would break very soon. Luckily my boots did not break on my trip and the manager connected with me a week later and shipped me a new pair of boots back home.

Cool gear, somewhat overpriced. Mostly a great rental shop for your outdoor needs while visiting Jackson Hole. Sometimes decent sales, but the prices are already high so its not usually that great of a discount.

Three employees standing at the front cash register looked up at my wife and I when we walked in and continued talking and didn’t offer any assistance. My wife and I could not find what we were looking for (near the three employees), so I just ordered it online. Still wonder why Amazon is putting local businesses out of business?

I was on a cycling tour last summer and needed a place to pick up something that I ordered online. They let me ship the item to them. I offered them some money for letting me do this but they didnt take it.

Awesome bike fit for someone with range of motion issues.After a bad skiing accident I have been left with only 85 degrees of motion in my right knee, but have been determined to get back on a bike. After playing around with short cranks, moving the cleat on my shoe and other things for the last year, I dropped by Hoback Sports to seek the advice of Don Ruzicka their certified bike fit specialist.Don has been simply amazing. We have done two 3-hour fits so far. The first was on the dummy bike that was able to get us some of the way. Then the guys at Hoback built a bike and I went back for a fit on it specifically. Don doesnt just fit you to a bike using the amazing Retul equipment. He listens to you, works with you, and explains what he is seeing, and his thoughts. I learned so much about how I ride and what my leg can and cant do, I have been able to take that and build on it myself. Between the cleat modification that I did, the short cranks, some blocking and Dons focus and skill I now have a bike that fits me really, really well and is a pleasure to ride.If anyone reading this has range of motion issues or other complications making it hard for them to enjoy riding, I strongly suggest you get yourself to Hoback Sports and a session with Don!

For the size of Jackson, this store has an excellent selection of high end ski/snowboard gear and about half of the employees on the floor are knowledgeable and friendly.I recently bought a $600 pair of Karakoram bindings here and took them home to mount and discovered the the toe piece was defective due to a bad rivet. I brought them back and was told Its basically between you and Karakoram now. I informed them that everything in their store was available online for significantly less money and that the only reason to buy anything from them was for some semblance of customer service, which they werent providing. In more words, I was told that store policy prevented helping me get my new bindings working. Next time Im shopping on the internet.
