I would rather shoot myself in the foot than deal with this location ever again. If I could rate 0 stars I would. We reserved a truck for 8 am Wednesday and they never called. We called several times and were given the runaround every single time. We went to the Michoud location instead to rent a truck and trailer. The St. Claude location (closest to where Im moving from) refused to remove the trailer that we ended up not needing and made us drive to the other location to have it removed. The guys at the Michoud location were awesome though and were baffled that the St. Claude location wouldnt remove it for us.
Needed a 10’ truck for a move from New Orleans to Lafayette, and this location was the only one in the city that could guarantee the reservation for my particular date. Because of the poor reviews here, I went in one hour early believing I’d have to wait a ridiculously long time. I was disheartened to see only one employee on site (“Jaday”sp?), who at that time was outside processing a couple’s return of their trailer. As the only other customer, I decided to wait outside to make sure I caught the employee’s attention. As I waited, this gave me the chance to observe Jaday at work, as she tested the trailer’s lights and then unhitched the trailer (the young couple was moving from Michigan to N.O.—this was not a little trailer!). I chatted a bit with the couple and we all returned inside as there was paperwork to finalize. Jaday sat down and without even looking up told the guy, pointing, “Go wash your hands, door to the right” as she continued with his paperwork. Jaday had done this a thousand times that she knew the customer’s hands would be filthy by this time. This young guy didn’t think twice and followed her order without question—priceless! It was my turn, and Jaday processed my rental with total efficiency and professionalism. By that time there were two people waiting behind me. She could not have moved things along any faster. Arrived 11:30 for a 12:30 appt. and I was driving away by 12:10.I want to speak up for Jaday, since it’s easy to misunderstand the person she is. She is not about the idle chitchat. Jaday is 💯 business, and she could do her job in her sleep. I will forsake a smile and nicety for a helpful, focused, and knowledgeable customer service agent. If there was any wait at all, it was because processing the trailer before me took time. In the case of a 24-hr rental, the UHaul center can’t predict when trailers come in, and you may be unlucky to arrive after one or two are brought in before you.Yes, this center is understaffed, but don’t take it out on the employee that’s there.Pro tip:1. Complete your paperwork online2. Arrive an hour early
Roaches! We rented a vehicle from this location and a roach crawled up my leg as I was sitting is the passenger seat. It was so gross and scary I literally jumped out of the vehicle (I was in the passengers seat). We then inspected the vehicle and noticed there were several dead and live roaches in the back. We immediately took our belongings out. When we complained the manager offered only $5 off (after a bunch of back and forth) and didn’t seem concerned at all. I guess this is normal for them. Definitely rent elsewhere.
I returned a truck here and the woman who was checking the truck in was not very friendly, helpful or pleasant.Since she was my only contact there (you couldnt go inside the building which was kept locked) my impression of the business wasnt very good.
WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. UNLESS YOU WANT YOUR MOVE TO BE RUINED, STAY AWAYReserved a truck, came to get it. Lady behind the counter is ignoring customers and talking on the phone. When I ask whats up she decides to tell me that no trucks are going out that day bc the internet was down. Screwed over every single customer in the store for no good reason, made no effort to help the situation and in fact made it worse by being incredibly rude and inept. How this place has not been shut down and how these people have jobs I have no idea. Had to scramble to get an entirely different truck and uhaul could not have possibly cared less. BEWARE
Do we have to give them one star? They definitely do not deserve it! We picked up our truck, checked it out, and everything, just to get issued one that didn’t start. We went inside to inform them, only to be greeted with nothing but attitude. They added safe move onto our new reservation that they had to start for the new truck, which we did not request. We have a moving company, and have insurance that covers these rentals. Then, they didn’t take the truck that didn’t start off of our account, so it looked as though we had two trucks checked out at one time. Now, come time to drop off the truck, I had bad vibes after the dealings that we had with them prior to. So, I video taped the condition that I dropped the truck off in, just to cover us, just in case. Sure enough, the store calls several times early morning, yelling about the furniture pads not being on the truck. Once again, we have a moving company, and had no need to even open the bag of pads. She stated that we wouldn’t be able to rent from U-Haul again, and that there would be a fee applied, as well. After using them for almost ten years, this IS the worst U-Haul location I’ve ever been to.
Extremely rude, security service never works, act as if they are bothered when you ask a question.
The manager here is extremely rude and abrasive. She will cut you off mid sentence when asking questions and raises her voice. She’s extremely unprofessional and is not fit to be the front face for customer service.
This place has horrible customer service! We had everything booked online ahead of time including furniture pads and dollies. When we arrive we were greeted with a nasty attitude by Cydney Mattews. She then tells us sorry they have no dollies. We asked well what do we do now we already paid for them. She says oh well I take them off. Really? Then the truck check engine light was on and u told her, she told me “they all be like that” and if we break down to just call road side assistance that is included with the truck. Really?! That is the last thing we want to do when trying to move with a truck full of furniture is broke down and have to call roadside assistance. Extremely poor customer service and management at this location they need to clean house and get a whole new management team and staff here if they want to continue to stay in business.
Worst U-Haul locations ever I have visited so far. I’m an over the road truck driver for a moving company and rented trucks from U-Haul for almost 17 years and this location was the worst customer service I ever experienced so far. The way they talk to their customer are like the you’re their enemies. I never had some have any bad attitude toward me like this before in any U-Haul location
Show up at least an hour early, even with a reservation. Location is understaffed and extremely slow
I would say in the last year the service here has been much improved. Since moving into the neighborhood over five years ago there was a great struggle with the previous management. I have noticed a much improved and courteous Customer Service and I would attribute that to the management
The young general manager, I think her name is Deya, was professional, friendly and quite knowledgeable. We just drove in from AZ and unfamiliar with the area. We were able to get all of our errands taken care of without running all over town. Thanks again!
The customer service is poor from the General Manager down to the lowest level personnel. The equipment is in the shape that you expect from U-haul but the complete lack of professionalism created damage to the brand. I have used U-haul since my college days moving into my first apartment and have never had an issue with the company as a whole, but this location does not mirror the satisfactory experience I have been accustomed to in previous interactions with the brand. What this location can do to improve for the next customer is to put the customer first, and provide an experience that is both easy and efficient with a smile. I shouldnt have to say this, but take pride in the work you do and the service you provide. Moving and relocating items is stressful enough and the stress does not need to be compounded by the actions of your location.
I traveled a 1,000 miles to haul a truck to my house. Wanda helped us hook up the trailer in the pouring rain. The staff was very patient. They worked with me even though they were very busy. I really appreciated the customer service. I would highly recommend this location to everyone. I just want to say thank you again to Jide, Wanda, Sidney, & Austin for the excellent customer service.
I rented a BE for In-town use on 10/12/15 and found renting from this location to be a pleasant experience. I believe the manager that took care of my dispatch was named Jason. I found him to be quite personable and professional. The equipment was clean and well maintained, as was the store location. Working as a customer service rep, for the company I hear more often than not about not so pleasant experiences. other customers have encountered when renting equipment. I can gladly say, that mine was a great experience, the staff of the location were friendly, and attentive. It had been a few years since I had rented equipment, and I would definitely not only rent again from the St. Claude location I would recommend the location to friends in need of equipment or packing supplies.
The staff behind the St Claude location are great. The manager and her team are always go helpful. If you go to this location in during the weekend or at the end of the month it does get busy. This could be said for any Uhaul location around the New Orleans area.
Very unprofessional and rude. We are supposed to pick up a moving truck tomorrow at 7am. But they changed the pickup time and location and basically said it’s not their problem. Spoke with someone at a different U-Haul facility and they told me that this location could have had our truck there but sounds like they just don’t care! When you call the person that answers the phone is extremely rude and unhelpful.

Understaffed and so virtually unusable if theres any line whatsoever. Was in a line for 35 minutes without a single customer being processed before going to the one on Tulane.
I needed a short term trailer rental to help my daughter move some things from her apartment before I had to drive 450 miles back home. So I researched availability in NOLA, and this was the closest location to her apartment.I placed the order through the online system since this was after hours, for a 10am pickup. I also purchased 6 medium size boxes and 10 large sizes boxes online to save time. After making the reservation, I get an email that suggest I do online check in in order to save time. Due to my very long day of driving ahead of me I decided to do it because my time was very precious to me.The online process is a joke and unduly invasive. It requires you to take a picture of your DL even though you go through the same process at the store (so now they have a digital copy of my drivers license). They require that you give an alternate phone that someone HAS TO BE AVAILABLE to answer otherwise you are screwed. God help you if you dont have a second persons phone number readily available to give them.When I questioned the process for online check in, I was reprimanded by an obviously racist manager. I had asked what purpose the online check in, to speed things up, was if all of this was still having to be done. She reprimanded me by telling me that Patience was a virture. And then asked me, Dont you have a job that you have to follow the rules? Instead of telling me why it was necessary that this was the procedure. And the worst part is that she was not even the one that I was working with to check in.But I would have to say the best came when it was time to get the boxes I had purchased that were not ready to go. I was told where they were and that I had to get them. So I pulled them from the rack and slid them to the door to put them in my truck. 16 boxes was too much for one load, so I took the small ones out first and came back to get the large ones. When I came back in, the lady was putting them back in the rack claiming that I had already taken ALL of my boxes out essentially accusing me of trying to steal $11 worth of boxes.. When I told her that was not true, she initially refused to give them to me. I had to go to my truck and bring back in what I had to show them. This was done because she refused to walk out to my truck, which was literally 5 feet from the front door to verify that I was right.As I was leaving, she told me that if the count was wrong at the end of the day, she would correct it on my bill. To which I laughed because, i dont care what she adjusts, i know what i got and if she tries to claim otherwise, she is flat out lying.I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone with the current staff they have. I would drive to Slidell or Kenner to find a place before I would EVER consider this location again.
Used to be great but no longer. It would take an extreme emergency to rent from them again. You have to give everything but a blood sample to rent a truck, they have to actually speak to your emergency contacts or no rental, the staff is rude and when you return the truck, you basically have to sit in the heat with the truck off and do a brake tag inspection (think right blinker, left blinker, reverse, honk etc.) Ludicrous. I will not be treated like an idiot by people that i am paying.

The clerk Carla who registered me put the wrong information in the system. On my arrival to pick up the cargo van she stated she had a truck. I stated ms. I have a truck, I rented a cargo van.So I had to extend my service until 03/05/14. I call about 9:20am to reserve a cargo van.She didnt know it was me. So, I asked for a quote and she stated I have to put your information in the system for a quote.I hung up. Call the Chef office, the lady gave me a quote, she was very nice. Call back a gentlemen picked up the phone gave me a quote and then made reservation at the same time, very professional. Its not professional to lie to customers.

The staff was rude and not helpful at all. They don’t greet you upon arrival, nor speak to anyone with respect. I’ve dealt with three different people at this location now, the only one with some sense is the GM. They tried to charge for gas although it was refilled to marker just as highlighted on my paperwork. My boyfriend and I both noticed the same issues even when we weren’t in the store together, I’m not sure what the problem is, but it wasn’t a pleasant visit. They truly need to improve their customer service skills and listen to customers more. I will never use this facility again for anything. I would give zero stars if that was an option.
Ring the bell for propane? What a joke. Just stood at the propane tank for over 30 minutes and got no help whatsoever. One employee was walking around sweeping while smoking a cigarette while other employees took their sweetass time with every other customer but me. Spoke to one guy who said “that guy over there will Leo you.” Never got to me. Left after.30 minutes of waiting.
I recommend taking the extra time and going to the Causeway location.

Tip: call ahead to make sure they have what you need. If they have to check, have someone else call in and speak to someone else to make sure they have what you need.
Customer service is hit/miss and its a motley crew. The staff are unapologetic but will get you your rental fairly quickly. The return guy was screaming at the customers and barking orders which upset a lot of people.
The manager was very helpful, but I lost my mattresses that were in storage due to a rat infestation. There were rat traps in my unit and feces everywhere. I had to throw out my mattresses because thats unsanitary. So much for storage saving your furniture. Now I must buy new mattresses. I thought that was the point of having an inside storage unit.
The hippo at the front desk with the wannabe Chun li buns was a rude disgusting hostile animal. She was angry with a piss poor attitude. Her hot breath was stinging my eyes as she got in my face and threatened me. Shame on that company for employing a wild untrained, unprofessional, degenerate piece of swamp trash like her.
Poor security took 48 hours to fix my storage unit after some one tried to brake into it. Doors to building that houses the storage units were wide open 8 out of 9 times in a two week period when I had road by or stopped in to retrieve idems from my unit. Management was not helpful and rude. Reginal management has never followed up with me and have me a end report as asked by myself or as stated would happen by them. I have never been able to swipe my key card and able to open the door. It takes a good 8 to at times 20 times or walking back to office for asesten. The buzzer at door does not work or the people in the office just ignore it. One way or the other and all other idems I have mentioned, does not make for 24 hour security. That is one of the Biggies one is looking for and told your paying for. Again this has just been my experience. If this has not been your experience I am truly happy for you and hope it works out better for others.
