Cafe Venetia Train Station is a unique cafe venue with highly above average fare. A hybrid public-private space with a relaxed extremely sunny ambiance. It provides a fair approximation of a European feel with unparalleled access to Caltrain, being essentially on the southbound platform. A reprieve from standard chain cafes.
The very first pastry I had from Cafe Venetia was amazing and every pastry I had after that has been very disappointing. I like this space but I feel more could definitely be done to improve the freshness and quality of their pastries. I also would not mind a more pleasant demeanor from the staff. As Stanford has a much better pastry shop at Cafe Coupa, I will be going there for the foreseeable future. I hope this Cafe will improve so I can experience the same joy I had from my very first pastry here and others can do the same.
The opera cake is a must have, Ive never had anything quite like it. The salami pizzette was pretty good too, but didnt taste fresh. Service is fast. No charging sockets. Bathrooms present. Pretty empty in the morning. Located soon as you exit the Caltrain Palo Alto station, so pretty convenient for a hungry traveler.
If you want real Italian coffee and have the spare time before your train arrives, please come a visit this shop. Ive visited their other location in University Ave., and this doesnt make a mockery of their product. The coffee and Italian hot chocolate are made efficiently and beautifully, and the mornings always have pastries ready, which is great on days I miss my train. There are only a few places I enjoy to have a latte, and their location is one of them. Although you dont seem to get enough for your moneys worth, I feel the quality makes up for it.
Good scenery and smells really good. Quick service and really convenient for when your at the train station.
Excellent Italian-style coffee and good cakes and pastries for high prices. There is indoor and outdoor seating, but you dont have to buy anything to take advantage of it. Its essentially part of the train waiting area.Service is usually quick and reasonably friendly.
By far the most real italian coffee shop in town. I just dont love their coffee and coffee beans but they also have a selection of oils for cooking. Love the basil oil the best, so far.
Great coffee and ambience. Love the Paris-style outdoor seating. Are you a pianist? Try out the grand piano.
This is one of the most amazing coffee spots at a Caltrain Station...talk about convenience, great coffee, service, dessert, ambience. This place has it all.A fun experience for locales and tourists alike!
My favorite hangout while waiting for the train. Cafe Venetia has turned the Palo Alto train station into a must-go-to hub offering yummy treats and fabulous coffee drinks! The baristi are super friendly and even remember my favorite drink: decaf latte :)
The conversion of a waiting room into cafe is good.wish the room was filled with ambiance music that would resonate to the timeless structure it resides at.Their coffees are better than the pasteries. The cold food was blah!
Nice little coffee shop right on the station. Great pastries and of course location.
Excellent mocha.. Wonderful cakes.. Sweet little cafe thats got a lot to offer.
A friendly comfortable cafe with delicious pastries and fruits. Coffee tea too.
Fin, fun decor and they serve a delicious cappuccino. For a second I think Im in small Italian train station. Cool.
Came here to enjoy n Italian coffee like back home, but the male barista was a jerk, I ordered the cappuccino viennese it comes with whipped cream on top but the coffee it self was cold, I asked to have it remade he argued with me, I said I’m not going to argue I am the customer. So then he talked about me to the other employee,
Conveniently located right at the Caltrain station, with seating adequately comfortable for waiting for the train. Limited pastry selection. At first the hot chocolate was small, but sweet and hearty; as it cooled, however, it became more of a grainy sludge. All the above would be a 4-star review, had it not been for the arrogance of one of the two baristas. As we examined the menu on the wall, he slowly waved his hand in front of our faces and said something that gave the impression that he thought we were too dumb to know what was going on. When we asked if there were any teas, he pulled out a separate menu with tea. Just stating the facts, he is white and we are not. I wanted to order something as they had a sign saying that it cost $1 to use the bathroom, but in the future, Ill just wait.
Their chocolate cream croissant is delicious . Note that this is different from their regular chocolate croissant . This cream croissant has a light, fluffy, mousse-like filling which adds extra yumminess, plus a swirl of chocolate on top - yeah so maybe dont get that if youre on a diet :P
Great coffee, pastries, no tipping and cards/phone pay only.
Stopped by 10 minutes before they were closed to get a coffee and the bald guy in glasses that was working told me that they were already closed. Only trying to get a cup of coffee to stay warm while I wait for the train in 48 degree weather.
If you want a quiet place to work between 9:30am and 3pm Cafe Venetia at the station is your place. Outdoors seating available
A well-made cappuccino in a timeless building. Perfect when you juussstt miss your train.
They sold me a $3 cookie today that tasted stale. It was probably 1.5- 2 days old. Probably was a great cookie when it was fresh.
Very tasty pain au chocolat! Good coffee. Their toasted sandwiches are not that great. You can only pay with credit cards or Apple pay since 2018.
Wow, incredible guys. Stayed open to serve me at the last minute, helped me get home to San Francisco with a little caffeine at midnight. Cant think these guys enough for being so kind.
Very good coffee and fresh pastries. Service is fast and nice. Wi-Fi is poor, very slow upload and drops. Price is on the high side.
Good food, drinks. Ambiance unfortunately depends on the Caltrain building.
I used to come in here whenever I got off at the Palo Alto station. However, I unfortunately will go to Peets on Stanford campus. I came in this morning with my reusable iced coffee cup and the woman refused to fill it because the cameras were watching her?!? Seriously, I was so baffled I figured it was because she thought my cup was bigger than her wasteful paper cup... but lo and behold the moment I left I poured the contents in my plastic cup and it was the same size. They need to change that fascist policy!
If I could give less stars, I would. They Basically would not sell me coffee. I didnt go in asking for some ridiculous mocha -frapa- lattatino.....I wanted a half caf dry cappucino. Policy wont let me put regular and decaf in the same cup. Okay well give me a shot of decaf and make me a regular dry cap in the bigger cup so I can put my own shot in. No...policy will not let me use the bigger cup. I hope that the owner of this establishment realizes this isnt Europe and if you want a satisfied customer base you gotta have some flexibility. I left with no coffee and YOU should stay away from this over priced eleatist coffee establishment.
The coffee is made by Barristas that care, in an Italian style. The pastries and food are excellent but a touch expensive. The gellato is nice. They have a take away case with San Peligrinos of all types.
Small cup of coffee at $3. Tasted old
Great coffee on the go, love that they had the goodies as well.
Great espresso and I dig the ambiance of the old train station.
Great espresso. Loves Nero. I also like the croissant sandwitches.
Excellent coffee in nice old train station
Good coffee and pastries. Try the maroccino!
Nice place, nice people, good ambience and coffee.
Free wifi and riche espresso drinks while waiting for Caltrain - perfect.
Nice place for waiting for train. Food there is expensive
The most racist place Ive been too.Only thing missing was a whites only sing
Very friendly employees and good coffee .
Too expensive even the smallest things, and if you need to use the restroom you have to pay $1 dollar to use it.
If you miss your train and have an hour to wait, go inside and have a pastry.
A bit overpriced and they dont take cash.
The best cappuccino ever!
The toilet is not workingcost 1 dollar
Best cafe around!
As Italian as you can get.
Cafe Viennese ftw!
When you cant find something downtown, try here!!
Best cappucinno ever!
Great coffee!
Good for a short relax
Great quality
Excellent coffee!
Chocolate ganache brownie is to die for
Pretty adorable.
Best coffee in Palo Alto
Looovr that place.
Delicious !!
I drank an excellent Italian espresso in this place. My husband tried the chocolate in the cup and it was great. Kind bartenders and willing to give directions. Free internet connection and clean bathrooms !!! All in a historic building in Palo Alto :) - Highly recommended!
The top cappuccinos !! I love hot chocolates and desserts here too. Too good !!
