From the receptionists to Dr. Scott everyone was very professional, knowledgeable, nice, kind, and polite. My cataract surgeries both went perfectly. Totally pain free for me. I wish I would have done this sooner. Everything is brighter, clearer, crisper, color is awesome. Nothing looks yellowish anymore. My vision is like 20/25 in right eye and 20/30 in left eye. After 6 weeks I just ordered new glasses. Mainly because of slight astigmatism and reading.I have nothing but kind words for Dr. Scott and his entire team and all of Illinois Eye Center.Thank you for helping me through this surgery. I appreciate it!!!

Im new to Illinois, and before I moved here I had all my medical records shipped from Florida to Illinois. My primary care received the records and made new records off of those. I had my eye records transfered as well. So that the eye Dr. Could go over them before he touched me. Not here they just go in . And then tell you that they was unaware that you have had previous surgeries on my your eye in the past. DO NOT USE THIS PLACE, THEY WINF BE TOUCHING MY OTHER EYE. On top of my records being transfered, these people took pictures of my eye, and had me fill out new patient paperwork that clearly explains i have had previous surgeries. My Advice GO TO ANOFHER EYE DR.Furthermore I have had previous surgeries and the Dr. Who touched me should have known that and referred me to a specialist instead Ive already talked to Nikki and she herself assured me that Abby the director will be contacting me directly. Its been crickets of course Its sad that this company is ran like this. This Dr. Had no buisness touching me knew it. He just wanted that insurance money. For a botched procedure

I went to the peoria office for an eye exam for new contact lenses and everything was well and good up until Dr. Tina Thomas came in. She walked in all huffy and didn’t even introduce herself. The second she walked in, she just says “I gotta get out of here” and went to the desk in the room. She was upset because I was scheduled on an “on call” day. That is NOT my fault, although she made me feel as if it was. I told her I was in town due to my grandpa passing away of cancer and I can’t afford to go to other places without my insurance. None of that was her business, but she seemed to have no sense of respect for others. Just rude. She basically said later that it wasn’t my fault after all, but I honestly have no desire to ever see her again. I understand there are good days and bad days, but this is ridiculous. I do not appreciate my doctor treating me with disrespect as if her schedule is my fault. Extremely unprofessional and very disappointed.

I had cataract surgery done that went well. I have had dry eye for two years and Dr. E. did very little to resolve this problem. he started off with eye drop which did help but did not solve my problem after many times there with no results I stop going and just got frustrated with him . So I waited and went to the Pekin office and saw another Dr. hoping to get the surgery to fix my problem but This Dr. said she did not do this type of surgery and wants to have me buy this kit that insurance will not pay for. Supposedly this kit will help. Im on a fixed income and cannot afford to pay out of pocket to try this may work fix. All I want is the tear duct surgery to fix my problem. I guess they just want to get all the money they can before they fix the problem. Not my idea of a good place to go.Just wanted to say that I did get a response from Abby from Il. Eye Center . She had me call her and got me in to see a dr. that comes in from Florida twice a week and he was very good about explaining the problem I have and Im going back in two weeks to get some more work done .He is really trying to fix my problem . I found him to be arrogant and flippant about my mother’s situation. He observed she had glaucoma. He did not discuss any details about the type of glaucoma or what she may or may not be seeing. He said she was not a candidate for surgery-fine no problem. Then he said there was a good possibility she had dementia which could affect her eyesight. Ok. No empathy at all. When I asked if he knew about any visual aids that might help her vision he said there were many and to look online. No advice, no suggestions. Dismissed. He is supposed to be a glaucoma SPECIALIST! I would expect him to have a vast knowledge of aids and tips for his patients. I will never take my mother back again.

Six months after my Lasik surgery and I am still experiencing side effects in both eyes. I am not saying this is the fault of the surgeon, and am aware I took the risk involved. I am only here to share my experience so you will be more informed before choosing Illinois Eye Center for Lasik, or Lasik in general. I will try and keep this as objective as possible so you may formulate your own opinion of the accounts.I still have a slight smudging/smear in both eyes especially at night, a measurable astigmatism in the right eye, and a subjectively worse one in the left that manifested about three months post op. After explaining the situation to the Dr., he understandably believed dry eye was the cause, so offered punctal plugs for my tear ducts. I was informed later that the plugs were most likely not the right size, as they were very uncomfortable, and fell out very soon after placement, which was actually a relief. At my next follow up, I expressed I was still having issues, and was not happy with the results. I was told that the goal was 20/20 vision and that the laser is dialed to mainly focus on major abberations; not as many minor ones. This is not something I was told during the intake. I was told prior that Lasik corrects astigmatisms, and that touch ups were included in the treatment. He finished the session by patting me on the back and saying, Enjoy your 20/20 vision. It seemed as if the Dr. was behind schedule. My appt started about twenty minutes late, seemed very in and out, and it also seemed I was left with a sort of deal with it rather than lets investigate further demeanor.I decided to make another appointment with the other surgeon, and request more testing, as I will have to live with the results for the rest of my life. Turns out I am not 20/20 in both eyes, and he will be creating custom trial glasses to try and figure out if corrections need to be made; which is a risk and could worsen things (great). My main concern is the somewhat condescending attitude I have received from the surgeons in my persistence to get to the bottom of whatever is wrong, which may be perceived as me being difficult or demanding. Im not someone who finds pleasure in complaining about things that are within the bounds of normal expectations. If the problems were insignificant I WOULD deal with it, instead of these repeated visits. If I have questions or concerns with a surgery, I DO however expect a Dr. to show respect, share my concerns equally, and exhaust every resource in order to help mitigate without having to be hounded to do so. THAT is simply good medical practice. If I had accepted the first Dr.s conclusion, we wouldnt have discovered today that Im not 20/20, nor the measurable astigmatism, nor planned any further corrective action. Side note, I will be seeking a second professional opinion. My personal warnings would be..1. Be aware that your surgery MIGHT not produce the results you desire or are told you will most likely achieve.2. If you do have less than optimal results, you may have to push these surgeons to exhaust all resources to benefit you.3. Do you own research on the internet of stories from other Lasik patients. The staff will tell you that lasting side effects are rare, and that 99% of people are happy with their results, which is simply not the case based on my own research. You can be the judge of why they might lead you to believe that though.4. If your vision is crisp like mine was while using corrective lenses, based on my experience I would highly recommend you reconsider dealing with the inconvenience they bring. If I had known this would be the resulting experience, I would have dealt with contacts for the rest of my life and waited for other, less risky, potential scientific advancements in regards to vision correction. To go further, I was uninformed of the potential psychological effects from having what are most likely permanent abnormalities in my vision. I have discovered through other stories and my own that depression is a potential with subpar results.

Great care—but bring a book! The two doctors I’ve dealt with there in the last three years have been first-class, knowledgeable professionals. The techs and support staff have also been very good. I dealt with three techs my last visit (Jan. 3) and they were all top-notch.The problem is the wait. When I made my appointment I told the woman who set it up that I had experienced interminable wait times in the past—once in 2017 and two cataract surgeries last decade.Since my appointment was at 1:40 and the doctor who I was seeing got back from lunch at 1, she told me my wait probably wouldnt be too long.Wrong.The process began very well. I’d really like to give a shout out to the woman I first encountered—Krissy Sprinkle. She left her station about 150 feet away to come all the way to the entrance to ask if I needed to check in. She then led me to her cubicle and began that process. She discovered she was missing something to move things along and she literally ran to another station and hurried back. That was the last fast thing that happened. The waiting room had at least a dozen people in it though not all were patients. Not good.By the time I got called back it was 2:30—51 minutes past my appointment time.I then got a very thorough eye examination from one tech and was seen by two others. Then the doctor. Dr. Hu was great. Very knowledgeable and a pleasure to talk with. Hes just got a certain vibe that makes him easy to like.So my total time there was one hour, 50 minutes. The confirmation email I got for my appointment said allow two hours so at least they’re honest about how long things take. The problem is, it takes too long. The care you receive makes the wait time worth it but they really need to address the herding them in like cattle mentality they have that makes them double and triple book appointment times or have appointment times running so close together that overly long wait times are virtually guaranteed.

Edit after reply: theres no need to discuss this. A reply that had meaning would be along the lines of well look at how closely we schedule appointments and our staffing model... realizing some appointments go over and some under (we try to spend quality and efficient time with each patient)... but anything past ___ minutes does seem unreasonable. Sorry youve encountered that every time... and so too apparently have most reviewers so we realize its not an aberration. Well be working to fix that, and well also work on a way to let our patients know what they should expect so their day isnt wasted waiting in our waiting or patient rooms for staff to be ready. Overall, sorry. Were going to legitimately try to make a systemic change.Original: Never on time... Ever. By a long shot. Always without notice, explanation, or apology. However, they have great doctors and cadre of medical staff. Just stinks the administration side cant support them or the patient and family experience well enough.

Typical eye exam experience, OK experience. What I didnt like... I went to get an updated eye glass prescription. To get glasses you need to know your pupillary distance (PD). The optometrist would not give me this number, she said the optical department could give me the PD measurement. The optical department wanted to charge $30.00 to measure PD! This withholding of the PD measurement is done to prevent you from getting reasonably priced glasses online. They want you to purchase from the optical department. A conflict of interest one might say. I think its completely disgusting that I went there for an eye glass prescription but they withhold a critical piece of the prescription. Yes this is common practice, but we as consumers must stand up against this practice and let optometrists know this is not acceptable. Yes, you can get tools/smart phone apps to measure PD, but thats not the point, I went to a professional to get a professional prescription and they did not give me all pieces of the puzzle to get a pair of prescription glasses. Not professional in my book.

The Illinois Eye Center claims to be on par with Iowa and others and for the most part Id agree. For a certain range of needs. The main problem is that its run like a factory but it seems to have always been run that way. The new building is setup really well. Its just that the waiting rooms feel so squished. I try to avoid them for prescription updates. But as far as testing my blindspot and eye structure, they are well equipped. Ive heard good things about their glaucoma doctor and he seemed sharp. As far as the initial diagnosis I felt compelled to visit Iowa but am satisfied with their ability to assess my progress.

Today was a Friday so there was a ton of people there, but its easy to see why. if you have the best doctors and help available anywhere, as far as I can see.The nurse or technician spent more time trying to get a reading on my eye then Ive ever got anywhere before.I went ahead and ordered trifocals. They have a large selection of frames to choose from. I saw a specialist today because I have a beginning stage of macular degeneration. I also have a stigmatism. Some places are in a big hurry to get your money. But when I asked about reading glasses the technician told me that I should wear my trifocals for a couple weeks to see that they were a perfect match, before I went ahead and ordered reading glasses. Since I have a stigmatism it will be harder to find a match for reading glasses anyway.I got all the information that I needed and the doctor even asked me a couple times if I had any more questions. I was glad that I wasnt hurried through.I would recommend Illinois Eye Center for anyone but you will not have to wait as long if you visit on any day other than Monday or Friday I think.

Earlier this year I needed a new pair of glasses. I had a script from another facility and I wanted to get my eyes checked before purchasing new vision wear. I went through the series of vision test with other faculty. The doctor came in he did not address me say hello or introduce himself. He immediately started scolding you saying I do not need glasses. I tried to explain myself as how I could not do my job or see the things I needed to see. He insisted that I see another ophthalmologist at the center. When he was speaking to me concerning this matter he made me feel as if I wasn’t telling the truth concerning my difficulty seeing. After going home and thinking about my visit I decided that I did not want to come back to the Illinois Eye Center. I went several months without being able to see and it’s affecting my job. So today I went to get a visit with another company in the area. Most EyeDoctors do a free visit or $25-$50 Exam. When I went to run my insurance I had found that I had been billed $287 for a office visit I exam at Illinois Eye Center. This used almost all of my $300 allowance for two years on my eye plan. I called the office to make sure that this was correct and found that it was true they had charge me that much and also given me an incorrect diagnosis. Lesson learned that I will never go back here or do business here again. We have children and myself and my husband both wear glasses and we would never go back there again. I am thankful that I found another ophthalmologist to take care of me and give me the glasses that I truly needed. Illinois Eye Center will not refund me the money or help me in anyway.

Then he told me to get some blood work done, for a condition I might have. I only saw him for a few short minutes. The routine eye exam is no longer done by the ophthalmologists at this practice. They have an assistant. I went there, and thought I would pay for the ophthalmologist to do the vision check, so not only did he not do the exam, but charges me medically for not helping. My bill that day should have been $20 for a routine visit, but now being charged almost $200.

In 2016 my 5 year old boy was let go from this facility due to 3 missed appointments. At the time I was a single dad who had custody wile working full time his mom failed to take him all 3 times with out me knowing. Its Apr 2019 and tried to get him seen for the quality of work the drs do and was told he can not return until he is above age. This is complete nonsense and their politics should be reevaluated!.

Elizabeth Lee is spot on.Oct 2013--1 out of 5 stars: I have now been there three times for my toddler son because of eye issues. Our doctor did not readily explain vision enhancement options or advice, and we have had zero improvement but plenty of wasted visits & even more confusion.Beyond the medical care itself, the experience is atrocious. We have now had to wait a minimum of an hour on each occasion just to be seen for no more than 5 minutes--with a decent bill waiting for us a week later. To make the experience worse, as a nurse was calling in another patient from the waiting room, she said glad its not the toddler who was crying. The toddler she was referring to was my son who had already been waiting for an hour over lunch time. Completely unprofessional, and I will never bring my family back to this office.Plan on at least one hour minimum for waiting room time, plus travel time to get to this terribly located clinic. Best, though, to just save your time & stress and find another eye care clinic.UPDATE 5 MONTHS LATER: The original pediatric eye doctor we had seen just didnt work out--she wanted to jump right into surgery & didnt give us favorable options. We decided to go with a 2nd opinion from Dr. Lichtenstein, and we were amazed by his care, concern, expertise & guidance. He has been incredibly helpful, and--for the first time--we have noticeable results with his recommendations. If you need pediatric eye care, dont waste your energy with anyone else--just go with Dr. Lichtenstein no matter how long you have to wait for the appointment.

My daughter is a patient of Dr. Lichtenstein. He performed a cataract surgery on her when she was 5 and she is 9 now. He did an amazing job. He is the kindest doctor and his staff is so patient and kind to us. Couldnt ask for a better practice!!
