DO NOT BUY! COMPANY HAS ZERO ETHICAL VALUES!This company uses predatory sales tactics in order to get you to sign a contract in your home when they come out for what you think is just going to be a free consultation. I was gone on a business trip while my girlfriend living in the home met with the sales representative and signed a contract on October 25th 2021 putting 50% of the project cost down as payment for a closet project that couldnt be completed until 5 months later. 4 days after my girlfriend signed a contract I learned that they have a 3 day cancel policy.On Friday of that same week I called and tried to cancel the project. The supervisor named Sarah at the Plymouth location absolutely refused to refund the $2000 down payment. It had only been 5 days and the closets were no where near production. I asked the supervisor, Sarah, if she thought it was ethical to keep the $2000 after 5 days, zero production, and zero work being performed and she said yes.I was absolutely stunned how this company still tried to shove the contract in my face after 5 days and the customers clearly not wanting the product. They clearly do not care what the customer wants and certainly do not operate under any sort of code of ethics.DO NOT BUY!

Came in and designed a clear representation of our closets. The only down side was the time to install but that was understandable due to the current state of the world. The installers came in and did a great job and left no mess afterwards. Already set up a future project with them as well. Hopefully we can get on the schedule for install on the new project sooner! - Overall great experience so far!

The design process was helpful and well done. However when it came time for installation the team was not timely and unprofessional. There were scuffs and glue marks all over the closet pieces and nothing was done by installer when I brought them up. He said to complain and pieces could be fixed- not what I would expect. When I did reach out to get resolution for cleaning and repairs I got no response. I’ve called several times and have been told they will get back to me. It has now been a week with zero response. I had to get supplies to try and clean off all the glue and scuffs while wiping down all the dust and dirt from the pieces. Completely unprofessional customer service. At this point I would not recommend them to anyone. Very disappointing.

I have a farm house built in 1903 two Upper closets no one had ever put shelving in them Brianna came out from Closets By Design and did the measuring and did the artwork to show us the shelving and the hanging units .Sandy at the front desk was very helpful getting everything organized for an installation date installers came out and installed. everything was custom made to fit these closets theyre like Panic rooms in over a hundred years no one had ever done anything to them and they look great would recommend these people to everybody I know thank you very much to the Closets By Design Team

If you use this company keep in mind that their laborers work 40 hours a week but are not offered healthcare insurance. That coverage is thrown to the tax payer while the company enjoys the profits. If I’m wrong, please prove me wrong.

We went with Closets by Design for our small pantry. They gave some really good ideas on storage optimization since its a pretty small Pantry. They were professional and on time. Wore masks all time and maintained social distancing. I am glad I went with them for our pantry design

Closets by design did a good job with the in-home consultation and subsequently creating the closet that we designed. Even with consideration of installation delay due to volume of orders, the installation was timely and fairly quick (less that an hour on the day of). Overall I’m very happy with the results. I would say it’s something to budget for though. Depending on what you get, it can be pricey. It was worth the improvement in function in our case.

I ordered this closet for my adult son with special needs. He has fine motor delays. This made it harder for him to get into the closet. I had the closet with no door and an open area so it was easy for him to get in and grab what he needed. He did an awesome job. My son just loves it and is able to get into it easily. The closet itself looks great and I would suggest them. Communication could use some work. I got a call at 8 pm the night before original install that we had to reschedule. Given why that had to happen, there is no reason I shouldn’t have received a call even a few days before.

UPDATE: After a month of not hearing back, they call me and said they were going to fix the issue, but now they are not because of my bad review. APPALLING.If I could give 0 stars, I would. You can read on for the full story, but long story short, this company has terrible customer service and will not install a closet system that actually fits your space. If you try to remedy an issue, they will deny responsibility and give you the run around. No one is accountable. Its been a month since my closet was installed with issues and I still have no remedy.We ordered a custom closet from this company, but the pieces were not cut to the right size. When they installed it, the cut to go over our quarter-round was made too small. Instead of addressing the issue, they installed the closet anyway which left a big gap between the closet system and the wall. They also cut the width of the closet a bit too short for the space (which makes no sense since they claim to cut the last piece on site to ensure custom fit). To make up for this, they shoved a few loose boards between the wall and the closet system. This looks ridiculous and shouldnt have happened with a custom closet. I attached pictures to show these issues.I called to complain about the installation issues and they first tried to say it wasnt their fault. But their consultant comes out to the home to measure for the cuts that are made, so there is no way a too-small cut isnt their fault. When I persisted, the closet consultant I worked with said she would put a change order in. However, it has now been a month and they still havent fixed the issue or even provided a date for them to come fix the issue. When I call the office, they say to call the consultant. When I call the consultant, she says to call the office. Its a complete run-around.I will also note that their installation guy was rude and unprofessional. He walked through our house with snow covered shoes and refused my husbands request that he not track water on our hardwood floors. The installer said he would clean it up when he was done. But you cant leave a puddle on hardwood floors for an hour without risking damage. He also gouged the wall scraping the paint off and didnt clean up the mess he left behind during installation. My husband said he spent almost an hour cleaning up the dust and debris from installation.

We did our mud room closet and bedroom walk in closet - both look great! Install went quick in about 2 hours.

They came out viewed the area I wanted to place the shelves in and worked with me to design the look I wanted. Their designers are very knowledgeable and can help bring your vision to life.

Pretty pleased with the master bedroom closet design. We worked with designer Mary who was pretty thorough and helped us design utilizing the space effectively. She stopped over again when we needed to incorporate some changes. In this day and age, with plenty of online apps available, I wish the company had done the design on a computer instead of pen and paper. We were initially given a install date 3 months later, and hence contacted another company to find a closer date as we wanted it done before summer. They worked with us to get a date sooner, which I was really pleased.The installer was professional and finished the install in a day. However they were not wearing a mask which has been mandated in the state. The installer had to saw an opening but the dust was left behind and not cleaned, it was not much, so that was ok.Overall we are satisfied with the design process and the closets.

Sales team brought lots of great options for us, priced reasonably and the installation was fast and it looks great.

I am very happy with my new closet! installation was quick and easy, the initial designer walked through all my options with me and listened to what I wanted as well as giving helpful input. I would recommend this company for sure!

The consultant was great! The material seems well made and looks very nice installed. Probably a bit overpriced, but that is all relative to what you feel is important. I will say more reasonable than others I contacted. The installation guys were punctual, but pretty quiet...almost too quiet when trying to engage them. I personally feel more at ease when installers are openly personable when having access to my home, especially my bedroom. That is just me though. They were in and out quickly. Overall I give them 4 or 5 stars with the only drawback being the cost.

I was freaked out at first by bad reviews I read, but the end result was great. I paid less than half of what California Closets charges & got a nice installed closet system. There are two small spots I could put quarter round due to a gap, given our walls weren’t square, but I don’t mind, again it’s a nicely priced system that substantially improved our closet!We went with the toe kick & crown molding option. Love it. Try it out, but if you have a super old crocked place, maybe it’s not for you. Here’s a before & after of one of the walls...

I love my closet! My designer, Cyndie, took the time to explain what will work best in my closet space and did the best to stay within my budget but still gave me what I wanted. The closet turned out to be better than I imagined. The materials they used is high quality.

Great experience throughout the entire process, from initial consultation to install! Ricardo and Mary were extremely helpful in the design stage to create the most efficient use of space in our reach-in closets. Them and their team went out of the way to expedite our install date to the best of their ability and their communication and customer service was excellent during the entire process. Would highly recommend Closets by Design!

My wife is in love with the new closets! The process wasnt complicated at all. The cost was reasonable, quality is great, Diane was super helpful with design, and the technicians that installed the closets were very professional and informative. They did an excellent job and left everything clean. Money well spent!

It was an average experience with Closets by design for us! We ordered garage shelving and extra shelves and also the mudroom closet. The designer was ok, but messed with the designs with the doors of two shelves. There was a delay in completing the installation, but can understand in the current covid situation. Quality of shelves are very good for now, has to wait and see about the durability in the long run.

My husband and are very satisfied with our closet! We worked with Laura and she did a very thorough job on making sure everything fit perfectly in the space that we had. She sent a thank you card and followed-up after, which was thoughtful. Our master closet isnt very big so it was important that we utilized the space the best we possibly could, and that she was able to figure out for us! Initially, we were given the mailer promotion, but after finding a little better deal, I contacted the company and they honored that for me even after we had our deposit in. Probably the nicest thing that stood out to us was during installation. We were asked to remove our trim board before the installers came for the cabinets to fit flat against the wall, but we had just paid for new trim so we were a little bummed, even though that makes perfect sense to do so. After the installers had completed everything they asked if they could put the trim back on (which needed to be re-cut and sized to the new bare areas). This was extremely nice of them to offer and they did not need to do that. Overall, we are very happy with our closet. It fits all of clothes perfectly, with even some room to spare!

We had the appointment with Ricardo and he was super helpful. He came over to the house promptly and very well prepared. He took his time in understanding our needs and was interested in helping us. We were not convinced with the first option he gave us after spending almost 2 hours and he took the time to measure things again and provided us with another option of our liking. Cant speak for the store as I didnt visit, but their designer was very nice.

From the design to the install, it was smooth sailing! We just had organizers installed in the kid’s rooms and since it went so well we are going to do the closet in our master as well. I highly recommend Cyndie in Mpls, MN and her team!

From beginning to end it was a top notch experience. I got three different estimates and closet by design by substantially lower than the other 2. Dianne designed my closets, and did a great job working with my wife and Is space needs. I was able to get the closets fully installed in 3 weeks from when I put down my deposit. Nathan and Jarred installed my closets. They were timely, friendly, and hard working. They came by 9 AM, and finished a walk-in closet and a reach in closet, and cleaned up all by 12:00 PM!! Great experience overall

Very reasonably priced, they had some good ideas to improve the design we had in mind. It didnt take long for them to manufacture (2 weeks?) and install was just a few hours. Highly recommended.

We had a contractor error cause us to delay the installation of the closet system by Closets by Design. This error required that we push the installation of the closet system to the next week. The owner, Steve told us that there is a 10% penalty to reschedule.The closet system that costed $8484.00. That means there would be a fee of $848.40.This is ridiculous. Steve was not helpful at all and not willing to work with us for a solution.I would never do business with this company again.

The installer was on time, very professional, knocked out the installation efficiently and cleaned up dust and whatnot before leaving. The closet looks great, very functional for what would otherwise be a nearly un-useable space (yay old houses). Great work!

They arrived a little late, but I received a phone call letting me know. The work was done quickly and neatly and the pantry looks beautiful and is more efficient. They even took the old shelving away.

The only good part of this experience was the representative that came to the house to measure. It was all downhill after that.This is not a good value And I recommend that you check out other options that are offered by other retailers such as Home Depot and Lowe’s. The wood is cheap particleboard that they try to rename as melamine. After installation was done, I regretted spending the amount of money that I spent.Installers were unprofessional and rude and made rude gestures and faces at my wife.Their desire to collect money on THEIR schedule was bizarre. For an organization of their size and age, their money collection efforts reminded me of a bill collector or someone who was afraid they weren’t going to get their money.In the end, take your money elsewhere and you won’t regret it.

Do not use this service. We used Closets By Design in Fl and are thrilled with the results. In Mn location the installation is horrible. They refused to fix problems. They sell you a nice custom finished look but when they do the install they are using people that do not know what they are doing. Get in and out fast is all they care about. They will not call you back or even attempt to understand how bad the installation was. Do not use this business for your closets.

Got a quote called to sign up and never got a call back. The reviews were right their custom service is a dumpster fire.

I love our new master closet. The whole process was great, and everyone we dealt with was professional. I can’t understand why they get so many bad reviews.

First, I love our closets, I think they look fabulous. But after spending about $4k on two large master closets, I feel like I would rather have just gotten the product from a home store and done it ourselves because the service was just “blah”. Our salesrep/design person was a very “nice” person, but way too socially awkward for this gig and I feel bad because I don’t want to hurt her feelings, but with a purchase like this, you want someone that seems at least somewhat excited to help. She was also very unresponsive once I decided to go through with the closets. I would have to re-forward emails after a few days or a week to get a response. I even had to call in a few times to the store and they would just tell me that she’ll have to get back to me. Not a good process, I understand that it’s supposed to be my salesperson handling it, but when it’s not getting handled.. don’t send me back to her, that should be a red flag right there. I even mentioned “I haven’t heard back, that’s why I’m calling you”. We’re going to be doing a mudroom at some point, and I think we’re just going to do it ourselves, instead of dealing with an unresponsive company.

Had closets designed and installed in the past by this company. In my opinion the closet looks cheap and was not installed well. We had an issue with one of the drawers and could not get it fixed despite multiple calls. Customer service didnt follow through in calling us back. We finally gave up.

Great experience from design to install

Terrible installation, product is cheap. I contacted the company the day of installation to return it and have gotten the run around since August. Do not purchase from this company. They show you a different product in the cabinets and the salesperson who did our measurements miss-measured.
