I cannot say enough about Matt and his team. We took our car in to a chain mechanic and were told the dreaded T word (transmission). Luckily the mechanic did not work on it so after a bit of research we called Matt. Based off my wifes conversation with him he had a pretty strong idea of the issue. I test drove the car with him minutes later and he explained the issue and the fix which was nowhere as bad as what we feared. Before we were even back in the shop he had the parts ordered. The problem was fixed right away. We saved thousands and are so pleased with the work. We have found our mechanic and highly recommend this AAMCO to anyone in need of work on their automobile.

I cant believe I found them, and how good they really are.I broke down over a thousand miles from home and in an urgent need to get a quick fix. My vehicle got dropped off after hours, and they called within 30 minutes of opening to tell me what was wrong and gave a price.They had the vehicle done the SAME day. Especially amazing considering I had an extremely rare and odd failure.I was in a PRIME position to get taken advantage of, or have to pay extreme fees. For better or worse your experience may vary....I took my car to (unnamed place) for an oil change and was told that my transmission fluid was a dark color and needed to be changed/flushed. I sat on that info for a few weeks and decided to call around for 2nd opinions. Called AAMCO and spoke with Matt. He explained the situation to me and gave me good advice that was against him making money. That alone tells me that these are folks who are about helping and not making a quick buck on unsuspecting drivers. Cant thank Matt enough.

Want to give a huge shout out to the wonderful guys at this shop for getting my 3 children and I back on the road. While camping at our favorite place, my truck didnt seem right. Having to head home, (500 mile drive, with a 6000 pound camper) I went to a shop near by. Told it was my transmission. Well long story short, I found this shop Aamco with the most amazing team!!!. They worked hard, rebuilding my transmission and getting the extra work needed done and had us on the road and heading home within 48 hours! My truck has never towed or driven so nice since I bought it 2 years ago, used.. made it home, safe! Thank you guys so much!! I was told by local dealership that i had a blown head gasket. I was looking at a large repair expense. My daughter recommended Matt take a look. He diagnosed the problem completely different from the dealership mechanics. With his many years of experience he knew symptoms of a head gasket problem and my vehicle did not display these symptoms. instead of a used engine replacement or very expensive repair, he fixed the issue with the car and charged a nominal repair charge. I dont write many reviews but am happy to do so here. This guy knows what he is doing and hes honest. If you have issues with your vehicle, do yourself a favor and contact Matt.

My Dodge Ram truck jerky when changing gears. I took it to Matt and he told me that I was missing 3rd gear. He gave me 3 options and good advice on how to fix the problem and his recommendations on fixing it was top notch. He got me back on the road with an better then stock solution which was cheaper than my alternatives.I recommend this shop to anybody having transmission issues.

I brought my car here after it was making some weird noises and stuttering, and I am so happy that I did. Steve was the gentleman that I was in contact with while they looked at my car and he was very professional, honest, and direct the entire time. Everything happened exactly when they told me it would happen (looking at my car, calling me back, etc.) as well as they did everything in their power to help me out. Another gentleman, Matt, called me and told me he was in contact with a Nissan dealership that still had my car under a warranty I did not know about. 5 star service and transmission repair! These guys are honest and do solid work. I had to have transmission work done on my Ford Edge. Dealership charged me hundreds more for a torque converter replacement and also pushed me to replace the transmission. Glad I shopped around and called Aamco. These guys did the work in half the time and for hundreds less. They were even kind enough to come and pick me up at the car rental place when my car was done since I did not have a ride. I believe they are transmission experts, so I wouldnt have a problem taking my vehicle to them for a tangible transmission issue. However, their method of processing vehicles is slightly frustrating. I knew my car was overdue for a transmission tune up and some intermittent shifting quirks reminded me of the fact.When I dropped it off on a Monday at lunch they told me they were backlogged and not to expect a call until Thursday at the earliest. But on Tuesday the guy called me back and said he took it for a drive and didnt notice any of the symptoms I had described (which was fine). They recommended against a fluid change because apparently damage has already been done to the transmission at this amount of mileage. Changing it would exacerbate symptoms instead of fixing anything.He said he noticed underpowered engine and offered to take it out for another spin for suggestions on how to improve engine performance. By Thursday this had not happened and when I followed up, he said he would do it Friday morning.... But at this point my family of 4 had been a 1-car family for several days and we needed it back.In summary, they need to refine their workflow so that diagnostics and other minor work can happen concurrently with their bigger projects and they dont forget about their smaller obligations. They have set up a system which says well get to you when we get to you. Id much prefer to schedule a 2 day appointment for a week out than drop it off for a week and hope they get to it.

When my car died in Wake Forest, I had it towed to a shop in Raleigh that wasrecommended by the tow truck driver. I suspected transmission problems basedon the symptoms, and that was quickly affirmed by the shop. Cost to repair it was quoted at about $4500 to swap out the existing transmission with a rebuilt one. Turn around time was several days, depending on the arrival of the ordered part.I was ready to sign on until my son - realizing how high the estimate was - called around and found AAMCO. Their original estimate before seeing the car was lessthan half of the first. They picked up my car promptly and towed it (with no charge) to their shop. Later that day I got a call that the transmission was not the problem at all. My total charge ended up being less than $400 for replacing a drive shaft and the car was finished the same day!!I cannot say enough positive things about my whole experience with AAMCO -They are efficient, courteous and honest!! I would never go anywhere else for transmission work, and would trust any referral from them for other work. Wouldntit be a great world if everyone shared their work ethic??

He didnt have to do that, and his mechanics were a bit upset that I was wandering around with him. But he was taking the extra time to explain things to me, and I truly appreciated it. My daughters car was having known transmission problems, which I was able to determine from doing some research. Ive done many brake jobs, tune ups, etc., but I knew better to leave this job to a professional. My trusted mechanic of many years recently relocated, so I had to bring the car to 3 different places for a diagnosis and estimate. Didnt feel comfortable with the first 2 places. Diagnosis and pricing were all over the place. Then I brought it to AAMCO on Capital Blvd. and met Matt. He was very knowledgeable. He knew exactly what the problem was. I cant say enough good things about this shop! We had our 08 RX8 at another local shop for almost a week before they ran diagnostics on it and came back to say we needed a new engine. I met Matt within that same week at a local bottle shop and overheard him talking to some of his customers. I, introduced myself and explained to him the issue. He knew right away that it wasnt total engine failure. We had the vehicle towed to AAMCO a couple days later. Matt was on vacation, but Ryan called me as soon as the vehicle arrived and I knew by his professionalism, we were in good hands. Within two days, we had our car back, running perfectly. I am SO grateful for AAMCO. I had my car towed to another mechanic who quoted me $4000 for a new transmission. Thankfully we found AAMCO who quoted me a much lower price. Turns out that it wasnt even my transmission! Just FYI.public service.Aamco doesnt remanufacture there own transmissions as they falsely imply.ours was a lkq transmission,a nation wide salvage yard.we have proof was from lkq,from lkq. wefound out accidently as the transmission did not work correctly after they installed it. after being put off few times for them to fix it,we asked for serial number off it.Owner refused.we became suspicious. someone told us the truth.i do not believe in impeding someones ability to make a living,but this is wrong.i reluctantly leave review as I dont want others to be deceived as I was. I thought I bought a factory (Chevy)certified aamco remanufactured transmission as they told me and my invoice states.when I asked owner,he saw nothing wrong with it,nor did corporate.

Bad review: Friends, as you know, I give rave reviews for businesses and rarely publicise negative experiences. I have owned a lot of cars and Ive never had the negative experience like we have had with Aamco (Capital Blvd specifically).We purchased what we thought was an Aamco factory certified remanufactured transmission because we asked about that specifically. Turns out its not, it was from a company that owns a nationwide junkyard that gets 1.3 stars due to lack of quality and warranty honoring. This is not our first rodeo with mechanics and thats why we asked specifically. Had we known this, we never would have purchased this transmission.The transmission did not work right from the beginning (didnt shift right) and they refused to fix it.In my opinion additionally, they didnt even diagnose the problem correctly. We may not have needed the transmission in the first place---in the opinion of other shops it was a timing issue causing the transmission not to shift correctly. This is clearly from my notes because before this, I did not know this level of detail about cars!!Buyer beware. Again, in my opinion, it seems all they are interested in is selling you a transmission like the guy that sells fake rolexes out of his jacket. Doesnt matter if you actually need one. And, once they have your money, our experience is that they dont have to take ownership of their mistakes.Companies make mistakes, I understand that. I could at least respect them and give a good review if we had been offered what we consider a fair resolution.Disclaimer: this is from my experience and my opinion of what has transpired.

Dropped my car off here Friday Oct 28 for transmission issues at 9am. They tried to get to it same day but were busy so they said theyd look at it Monday. Long story short, I get the car back Friday November 4 and the vehicle is working top notch! :)Saturday November 5 - I go to get the GPS out of my center console only to find it GONE along with a few other items.I realize the area of town is not the best and its easy to be annoyed and post a 1 star review, but I am giving this a 5 star review as I got a call from the owner of two AAMCO locations and he explained a few things in detail which made sense. I will be working with him to sort out the issue with my stolen items but that is beyond this review.What is important is the shop got to my car as soon as possible with the amount of work they had, it was fixed at a reasonable price, and the car itself is now running perfectly again.End result: Shop owner paid for my missing items and requested a 5 star review. Ill give it 4 stars as I feel odd giving 5 in return for money.

First I would like to say I have never had a problem with Aamco until this week. We dropped our car off Wednesday with a guarantee they would get to it by friday. Fast forward to Monday they still havent looked at it. I have missed several days of work going off their word. And whe My husband went to check on car, worker was very rude about it. Never again will I use this place. Car was, fixed today, same day at another car shop.

All I wanted was my transmission fluid changed. I dont want you to tear my transmission apart to diagnose something that isnt there... My transmission is working fine and only needs fluid and filter exchanged...

Started out fine but then the true side of the beast surfaced. Wouldnt recommend the place the techs are not the best so double check everything before you leave and always get everything itemized and on paper. If they can screw you they will send hes pretty good at it.

The reason I used you was mainly because of his demeanor on the telephone, when I called for a quote. The truck was repaired on time, on budget and I was very pleased with the total experience. This was my first experience with AAMCO & the Raleigh location. My contact started with Mat on the phone concerning the developed problem with my truck. We both came to the same conclusion of the possible & likely problem. Mat made arrangements to have the truck towed in to not create any additional problems on Thursday morning. On the following day after lunch, I received a call from Mat advising that they had test drove the truck for the past two days and were unable to duplicate or observe the original problem (transmission slipping). I did observe the original problem and like going to a doctor. On arrival, the problem is not there. There are so many auto repair shops that would have just replaced the transmission and charged me for the repair. I would like to THANK Mat for his professionalism and truely ethical position of treating a customer fair and HONEST. I wish more auto repair places operated under this style of work. I would highly recommend taking your vehicle to this AAMCO and please see Mat.

It takes a lot to get a 1 star in my book so here is the story.I have a 2005 Toyota Tundra with 180,000 miles on. I am no self-proclaimed car mechanic but also know that there is no such thing as blinker fluid. I do my own car maintenance for the most part and rarely require a mechanic. I made a mistake when I was changing my oil and drained off some transmission fluid and overfilled my oil as I was not paying close attention.Enter AAMCO. I had the truck towed to AAMCO as I had only driven about 10 miles when I realized my error as I was having difficulty shifting at higher RPMs. I requested they drain the excess oil and refill the transmission fluid, something I could not do because the 05 Tundra has a closed system transmission (only serviceable from the underside with a special tool).My problems with AAMCO began when Matt called to update me on the truck. I quote, We refilled the fluid and changed the oil and it is not looking good. I test drove it and it is still having problems shifting in lower gears. I couldnt even get into the highest gear. This transmission is hurt and it needs to be replaced. Its not going to get you to and from work the way it is. Youre looking at a rebuild or a used replacement. He then proceeded to only talk in depth about the replacement, which he insisted was the best option because theres only 1 used 05 transmission on the market right now and I can get it for you today. I cant guarantee it will be there tomorrow so take an hour or so to think but we need to buy this today. If you go to the dealer and talk to them and come back tomorrow and that one is gone, I cant do anything for you He proceeded to pressure me to buy the used transmission same day until we got off the phone. I told him I would seek a second opinion, which he countered with, You can go anywhere you want. Please do! I know youre going to come right back to me once you hear theyre prices. These transmissions dont fail often, but when they do, it happens like this everytime. And once again, if that used transmission is gone when you come back, I dont know if I can help you. I decided to go to Leith Toyota down the road and pick up the truck that night.At first, the eagerness to help can seem nice, personal, and attentive, making you feel like he has your best interest in mind. However, that changes when the pressure continues after we hung up as Matt proceeded to leave 2 MORE VOICEMAILS with no new info, just further encouraging me to say yes to the used transmission that day. As you can imagine, my blood almost boiled over at 11 PM that night when I picked up the truck (the truck I was told would not get me to and from work) to drive it to Leith Toyota and had a perfect drive 5 miles up Capitol. In those 5 miles, I tested everything I knew to test on the transmission- slow starts, hard accelerations, keeping it right at 56 mph to make it decide what gear it needs to be in, above 70 mph driving, etc. WITH NOT ONE PROBLEM.Leith performed their diagnostics on the system and found no problems aside from normal wear and tear after 180,000 miles. No talk of replacement, rebuilding, etc. They confirmed there were no concerns with the transmission and said it had plenty of life left in it.2,000 miles later, my 2005 Toyota Tundra is doing great with no signs of shifting problems, transmission issues or anything of the sort. AAMCO did apparently fill the transmission fluid and oil to the right levels as I have had no problems since but have definitely lost my business in the future as Matt clearly tried to make a simple fluid change/fill up/diagnosis from a genuine mistake into a money-making opportunity. Id like to believe he does good work- it did not show in my first and final encounter with him and his business.

Fixed my transmission great work so far how ever someone there decided to help them selves to all the change in my center console as well as leave trash in my vehicle and rifle through my stuff. I will how ever say Matt is great not a review on him or workmen ship so far had a previous vehicle took there and they took great care of me this is not to say they are bad but some how all my stuff got rifled through and like I said all my change was taken.

I would drive to the Capital Blvd AAMCO from Garner, Knightdale, Cary, or Wake Forest any day.The most trustworthy group of auto mechanics Ive had the luck of finding. I drove in expecting my wifes transmission was due for an overall. Before taking a look at my vehicle, Matt talked with me about my problem and quickly and ACCURATELY diagnosed my problem as an engine problem. After a short test drive, we knew he was correct.Short story, I expected paying more than $2500.00 for my repair and then need a rental for a few days. Matt included me in conversation and gave me several options along with costs. I made the decision and he called the dealer / other parts places to find my parts (coils and plugs) for today.I was back on the road in 30 minutes with a lot of money in my pocket.You are a risk taker if you go to another transmission shop first.

I had know idea what was wrong with my vehicle, they had it less then 3 hours and found the problem. Instead just going straight for the transmission they tired the less expensive way first. Fyi: One thing I didnt know was this is a drop off business for bigger issue, it not same day pickup. So be prepared to either leave overnight for the A.M., or get there at open.

This place is awful...and they try to pull the wool over your eyes...Make sure you are getting what you pay for. They are more worried about online reviews than honest services. Got my car back and the exhaust pipes were bent and they broke the welds from when they had to take the transmission out to rebuild it. What is bad about this is they thought I wouldnt notice that my duel exhaust was bouncing all over the place. They said they did a full rebuild on the trasmisson, come to find out that wasnt true. After I had to dive to 2 different muffler shops to get the exhaust repaired I started to notice a clicking noise near the transmission that wasnt present before, I was told that I needed to buy a shim for my starter....wha? come to find out it was a screw in the transmission. Please take note that this place is all about the reviews and being a 5 star..and the manager (Matt) is extremely cocky about this too and will tell you more than once that he is the best, look at all my 5 stars certificates for online ratings. Karma is a bad thing you shady low lives.

If you have a import vehicle please dont let this company take your money! They dont know nothing about a import vehicle. Yes they got my $5000.00 for what was suppose to be a new transmission for my Mercedes Benz E350! That was 2 years ago now this week I gave Leith Mercedes another $1500.00 to fix what I already let Ammco fix 2 years ago! Plus my car drives all the way different now that Leith Mercedes fixed it with a 2yr warranty any miles!! Thanks Leith Mercedes!

Matt was awesome. My power steering went out in my HHR and although they were booked until Wednesday he still helped with the issue. The part was $5 at autozone and replaced it for free. He was an angel sent bc he DIDNT have to help me at all. Again thank you Matt♥️

They couldnt find the cause of my vibration

I had a most rewarding experience in my business dealings with Matt Ferace. He determined that I needed a rebuilt tranmission in my 2008 Cadillac SRX. The service was exceptional. I did not have a ride home and he drove me home, did the work in the time period he had promised and came by and picked me up in my repaired vehicle. And yes, the price was appreciably less than I would have paid elsewhere.

I took my car to aamco due to it making a loud clanking noise. Before I took it to aamco I took it firestone who told me that I needed to replaced basically everything under hood besides the engine. Thankfully I decided not to listen to there stupid recommendations and take my car somewhere else they guys at aamco was great they looked at my car and quickly diagnosed a bad alternator and had my car up and running the next day. Safe to say i will be there customer for a long time. Thanks AAMCO

I had a great experience using Aamco! First I tried taking my transmission problems to the dealership who wanted to charge me $1000 over what I paid at Aamco. 2nd the dealership couldnt even figure out what kind of transmission model was on my Dodge Magnum. Aamco was able to get my car on the lift and find immediately what the transmission model was and rebuild my transmission which only took 2 business days!! I would highly recommend using Aamco!!! And a special thank you to Mike and his team at Aamco, you all did an excellent job, thank you!!
