Ice cream at its greatest. Homemade, fresh, rich, and smooth. Lots of flavors to choose from. We got black cherry and chocolate on a waffle cone - and a cup of mango and pina colada. We saw someone order one of the specialty menu items and wish we tried that because it looked amazing… but all of it was so good. Excellent quality and taste!

I love this ice cream parlor! It’s a small, neighborhood parlor that serves Caribbean inspired ice cream, as well as some traditional flavors. You can get a cup, cone, or pint of ice cream here. I usually get 1 scoop which is more than enough, it’s actually probably too much for me lol. They are practicing social distancing and you must wear a mask while inside. I’ve been here twice, and I had a good experience both times. The cashiers are super friendly and they move quickly so even if there’s a line, you won’t wait long.

Fun, fruity flavors like lychee, guava,, coconut, and traditional flavors also. No line, with only 4 masked persons allowed in at one time. There are outdoor tables to enjoy your treat, but they could use some umbrellas to block the sun.

They offer a wide range of ice cream flavors based on tropical fruits as well as the usual flavors found in most ice cream shops. They appear to use the same base ice cream ( it is all the same white color) with fruits added in as appropriate. The ice cream has the flavor of a good fat content which provides a rich taste and texture. All together, enjoyable, very tasty, and somewhat unique. A taste of the Caribbean. Delightful!

It’s a small place in rockeville. The lady upfront was very polite and friendly. They have a limit of maximum 4 people at a time and have plastic barriers. I got a single scoop of mango, it was delicious. I tried the cholesterol as well and it was good. A tiny bit pricey but good quality. They only take visa or master card.

Great selection of high quality specialty ice creams. Skip the normal stuff, go for the tropical fruit flavors. The banana is DIVINE.

I wanted to like this place the ice cream was so so good! I went back two days later at 1230 on a Friday when their hours SAY open and the doors were locked . Other people were outside too . Pretty disappointing

Fantastic Ice Cream!Fantastic Assortment of tropical fruit flavors.This local ice cream shop makes their own ice cream. The owner is from Jamaica and has specialized in bringing tropical fruits into to his ice cream flavor selections. My familys favorites are Mango, Guava and Lychee Fruit. Today he had Raspberry as a seasonal flavor and it was delicious.If you are an Ice Cream lover this is must visit! There are prepacked pints to take home as well.

We have never been disappointed with this ice cream. In fact, we consider it the best in the area.

This is hands down the best tropical ice cream place in Ive been to. All the flavors Ive tried are great, I especially recommend lychee, guava, black cherry and passion fruit. A single scoop is a bit pricey at $4.99, but the serving sizes are larger than you get at Baskin Robbins or Ben and Jerrys. Its also a better deal to get two scoops, since its only $1.15 more.Overall, I highly recommend York Castle Ice Cream

Very unpleasant clerk on July 8th 2021. I was the only customer in the shop but she did not look, so I waited. She ignored me for more 5 minutes, so I left the shop without any ice cream.

This is def a local go to for delicious ice cream with unique flavor options. I have been going here for years and love bringing my kids when I can. Not the best seating outside for little kids as the area is always very very busy with cars but nice that there is seating at all. My gripe this visit was with the lack of understanding by the associate who helped us. I specifically asked about Nuts and to make sure what we ordered contained no nuts since my son is allergic but was dying for a brownie sundae. I should have avoided it but figured I would ask. He said no it didnt contain nuts. Sure enough, 10 mins after eating it my son got the tingling in his tongue and lips and hot really nervous. Nothing happened but it was more the scare. I should have just avoided the brownie but employees MUST KNOW WHATS IN THE FOOD!!! Thats all!

Usually very good, but arrived at 12:30 pm and the place was still closed. No sign with new hours... Good luck if you actually want some ice cream during business hours.

So good! And so much icecream! It was a bit expensive ($5 for a one scoop cone) but they basically gave me two scoops instead of one anyways.

Texture and creaminess of icecream is very nice, almost like custard. Would recommend the lemon or mango. The fruity flavors retain a lot of their fruity qualities in the ice cream.

A glorious taste of the Caribbean in Montgomery County. York castle ice cream is delicious and well made. The owners are from Jamaica and have ties to the old Giffords ice cream place that only the truly old school will remember. Flavors range from the average vanilla, strawberry and chocolate. To the exciting and exotic soursop, lucuma and Guinness. Plus much much more! I highly recommend!

Best local ice cream Ive had in ages! Great flavor selection and even better options for smoothies, sundaes, and even splits! Try out the banana flavor with butter pecan. Great combo!

The ice cream is pretty great here, and they have a number of exotic flavors. If youre just going for normal flavors like chocolate or cookies and cream its probably not best to go here, but if you want an exotic tropical fruit flavor this is your place. The service was quick and friendly, but the atmosphere isnt the best right next to a busy road and there isnt much seating inside.

I’d give it a 5 but they don’t offer Swiss chocolate ice cream anymore, Giffords recipe.

These flavors were amazing! Despite the line, the employees allowed people to sample the different ice creams. Plenty of different options, including shakes, splits, and brownie sundaes (i.e., castles). Prices are affordable as well. This needs to be on your summer to-do list!

I took my 3 year old here last year and discovered a penny in the middle of her ice cream. When I pointed it out to the server he simply said “You can keep it”. Never been back and don’t remember anything more about my experience there. That was memorable. Since that was about a year ago, it seems harsh to mention it now but given it’s listed in the top 5 best desert places, it seems fair enough to share. Homemade ice cream never seemed so unappealing.

Tropical flavors include original recipes. Located in Rockville near Montgomery College and great ethnic cuisine. You wont be disappointed, but check the non-summer schedule.

I honestly think this is the best ice cream I have ever tasted. They have many wonderful homemade tropical flavors and your old standbys as well! It makes it very hard to choose but they are very happy to give you tastes so you can make up your mind easier. Friendly service and very large portions make this even better! A scoop in a bowl there is at least double what the size is anywhere else, which is good because one scoop starts out at $4.69, but each additional scoop is just about $1.00 more.Plenty of free parking and late hours make it easy to go there.

First I would like to say thank you to the person who started this company. I have had other brands of grapenut ice cream. This one is by far my FAVORITE. All natural ingredients come together to create a creamy and delicious flavored sweet treat. My 1st experience with caribbean flavored ice cream was as a teenager. My family visited my fathers home country of Trinidad and Tobago. He purchased grapenut flavored ice cream that was homemade at a popular market. Well I was hooked. When we got back to the states (we lived in NJ)he showed me where we could get some. I didnt know a company in Maryland made caribbean ice cream until 06-22-2020. I had gone into The Golden Crust to get a chicken and vegetable patties. As I turned to leave I saw the ice cream freezer. I peeped inside and saw my favorite flavored caribbean ice cream. I purchased a pint which came to $6.00 and some change. It was totally worth the money. If your in the mood for a delightful creamy sweet treat thats a little different get you some York Castle Ice Cream. You wont be disappointed.

Not your normal ice cream chain. Ice cream with a tropical twist. Lots of Island flavors and options. Not a lot of seating (a few stools inside and a couple of picnic tables outside. Napkins were in short supply.

Love their milkshakes. Jamaican flavors. I usually get mango or guava or jamaican cherry with coconut. Right next door to a seafood market so go order crab cakes or scallops and get a milkshake next door while you wait.

Wonderful unique flavors from Guinness, to guava, to various tropical fruits even I have never heard of... Unlimited free tasting of these unique flavors, too.

One of my favorite flavors of ice cream is ginger and thats just one of the flavors you wont find elsewhere. Another one I found that was fun on one of my visits was lucuma.They also have more common flavors but so far I havent had any ice cream that I didnt enjoy.
