Came here this morning for a little breakfast and coffee. Its really a small Espresso Bar that makes awesome crepes. The breakfast crepe is so filling as well as the Yum Yum crepe. They are so large and enough for two people to share a single crepe. There are other locations around town that are larger. But this one you can go walk around downtown afterwards.
Perfect place to grab a quick - and delicious - cup ‘o joe and maybe a cup of gelato or a pastry. It’s in a historic building, The Marston Department store, and a lovely vintage 1890 space. You can visit the Marston House in Balboa Park. Not really a place for people to linger as there are just a few chairs and tables. Lots of people from the building stop. and then take the vintage elevator up to their office. I love the feel of the place. They roast their own bean.Nice to have such a cute place on the redeveloping Broadway/C Street area of downtown SD.
Best crepe I ever had and I’ve been to Paris
Nice staff, but if you are going to charge me $9.75 for AVOCADO TOAST! I expect there to more than a smear or avocado on the thick cut dry multi grain bread. It also says feta cheese in the description, the cheese I got is like mozzarella or something?? Ummm I just want what is described to me.I have been to this location plenty of times and have never had a problem before, the ratio of avocado to bread was more reasonable!!
Great coffee (get a pour over! Its worth the wait and they know how to do it properly) and delicious breakfast sandwiches. The service is always fast and friendly.
Not the sort of coffee shop to come and sit for an hour with a laptop. This is very much appreciated in and out place. The lady that helped me (young Russian lady) was extremely nice and friendly. The espresso was pretty close to perfect. I visited several times in a few days, and the coffee was consistently great.
I had breakfast here literally everyday for 4 days. I recommend the turkey crepe, it’s absolutely delicious. Espresso and Americanos are rich and full bodied. I had the hush crepe as well, that was good too. Service is excellent, young guy there is courteous and quick to service. The peaceful atmosphere and aesthetics are cherries on top.
I really enjoyed Elixir. My hubs and I were in town on business and try to support local as often as we can. We found Elixir by a simple Google search and were delighted. The ladies that helped us were delightful and cheery (not over the top though). Our coffee art was beautiful and the coffee itself was delicious. I personally am a hard critic on coffee, self-acclaimed coffee snob, so for me to say that is kind of a big deal. There are plenty of places to sit if you have business to do, or just want to sit and read. All in all if youre in the neighborhood give this place a try.
Lost the taste for coffee over a year ago after getting sick from a cup with bad cream at Starbucks. Decided to try some crepes AND a latte on my birthday. John made the best latte and butter crepes for me. Much appreciated!
The location was alright, but the food and the service were impeccable.Food:Turkey Crepes - contains turkey, spinach, and cheese. The crepes were absolutely amazing. The turkey is very flavorful, and juicy. The cheese and the spinach complement the crepes really well. The crepes were soft and chewy. It was very hearty but light at the same time. It is the perfect breakfast.Drink:Caffe Latte Cappuccino - I am not a very big coffee drinker, but the cappuccino had me sold due to the pretty designs. The coffee was okay, a little bitter, but that could be because I dont typically drink coffee. Nonetheless, the design on top of the coffee was really pretty.
Unbelievably amazing! Wanted to get something out of the ordinary, so the barista suggested the Tuxedo. So smoothly and delectable to the taste buds. And on top of that I tried the strawberry and banana crepes, which was so light and tasty, as well as a good sized portion. A find indeed! Love the ambiance and historic feeling as well. Will definitely be back!!
The cafe is nice, located in what looks like the lobby of a building. The cappuccino is good, italian standards! The service was alright. On the website they advertise a lot of good pastries, but once there, they only had few muffins and two slices of banana bread, and it was quite early in the morning. She said that on Sundays the choice is limited, which is completely understandable, but knowing it in advance would have been better!
Very good espresso, and reasonably priced. Located in first floor of office building, so not a very warm cafe atmosphere, but its a well-used space and convenient for those working in the area.My turkey crepe was made with cubed turkey rather than sliced, which seemed lower grade. Then again, it was inexpensive for a nice-sized portion, and tasty, so no complaints!
I love Elixir so much! Cynthia makes the best lattes. Both Cynthia and the other girl with long hair are pretty awesome. The yummy yummy crepe is my favorite.
Traveling for business in San Diego and discovered Elixir near my hotel. Had a great 5 Star latte which was perfect! Delicious chocolate biscotti too. Outstanding service and fantastic espresso.
Best hot chocolate Ive ever had, quick and friendly service, chill atmosphere in a cool building. Could definitely use more electrical outlets for charging laptops though! Overall its great and Id definitely come back!
Its a good place.I like the iced coffee and the discounted refill. I dont usually eat here, but the crepes seem to go over well with other customers. The baristas have different styles, but they all know what theyre doing. They offer a frequent customer card, so every tenth cup is on the house. Sidewalk seating for good weather, as well as sufficient seating indoors.
Cool place with good coffee. Love that they use real cups when you stay to enjoy your coffee. Rare these days to find that.
They have some of the best croissants Ive ever had but the only thing I really dont like is they never open at the time theyre supposed to open
Really cool and nice old building, drinks and food made by hand, fresh. Friendly service. Neat spot.
Best cortado I’ve had in San Diego !
Quaint old-school independent, coffee spot. The use espresso roasted beans to pull their shots. Hallelujah. Unlike most independents using medium and lighter micro roasts.
Good place to hang out and have a chit chat over coffee
I love Elixir. The crepes and coffee are delicious. Service is excellent. When Im in the 92101 during the day, and I want coffee, I go here 1st. If they stayed open during the early evening, it would be better.
My new favorite espresso bar by my office. Cafe Calabria coffee makes for a killer grind. Crepes are very tasty too. Cool building! Go here.
I work downtown and Elixir is one of our favorite spots for coffee! Everything Ive had is excellent and the staff is always friendly and helpful
Good coffee. And great crepes which arent overpriced. On top of that, its quiet during the weekend
Great place to have breakfast, the hot chocolate and the crepes were DELICIOUS !!! The service was excellent!!!! Oh and by the way, no restrooms, just so you know...
Great little setting. A subtle coffee shop. Ive always had excellent service here.
Great Coffee, but most coffee shops open by 6 a.m. during the week and 7 a.m.on weekends. Wish vanilla syrup was house made.
My wife and I are visiting San Diego for the week and we stumbled upon this coffee shop a couple blocks away from our hotel. Best coffee hands down. Will definitely be visiting again before our trip is over.
Great coffee! Great people! One of my favorite coffee spots downtown.
Stopped in for a latte. The mug was beautiful. The employee was very polite.
I loved it. Vintage building excellent coffee great staff
Without a doubt the best espresso so far this US trip. Girl running the bar was a legend too!
Good cappuccino (from an Italian). Dont go there on Sunday, they dont have the usual bakery selection.
Always good coffee and the chick thats always here on Sundays always gives the best service.
Great little coffee bar and excellent service. Love the cappuccino
I would say the coffee tastes ok but the customer service was great.
Visited for breakfast, ordered two crepes, and two Mexican mochas. The crepes were OK, nothing super special but took forever to be made, we waited 20+ mins for them, there only appeared to be one lady making the food, they could have done with another person helping. The Mexican mochas were nice but basically cold :( definitely could have been warmer.
Spent a few days in DT this past week due to Jury Duty and was excited to know that this place was right around the corner from the courthouse. Ive only been to the one at UTC, but their Caffe Vinnese gives me life! I got it iced and they were able to make it in my personal tumbler. It was pretty slow during the mid-day, so I didnt have to wait very long for my drink. The girls there was great.
Nothing special. Poorly roasted beans. San Diego needs better coffee.
Best coffee! ! The barista Cynthia is the absolute best.
Great service! Excellent food :) you will not be disappointed!
Really good latte. A bit hot hanging out in the lobby.
Guys this place is awesum. great coffee Awesome crépes!
I just love this place - a little bit of France on C street.
Coffee wasnt even hot, had to return it. And the dude serving it was a rude little punk
Cheap, delicious crepes and drinks. Really nice staff as well.
Their Mexican Hot chocolate is to die for and those crepes are my everything
The espresso was delicious, the crepe was fantastic, and the staff was delightful!
Good place to stop in for coffee and crêpes.
