Really excellent coffee. I dont mean the sugar milk stuff, which is certainly also tasty, I mean the coffee. Perfectly roasted, outstanding selection, yum! Get a cup of brewed coffee.

I loved the menu here, it’s creative. A little pricey, I think, but worthy if you are just staying for a couple days in town. I went back 3 times and all my drinks ranged between $6-7 with milk modification.Ask for drinks in their own cups to avoid plastic. Their plastic cups are not environmentally friendly. Play the ones they got are way prettier.It has a student vide definitely. Good music and quite atmosphere. They got some specials for students too but this vary throughout the year so check their Instagram constantly.Don’t call. I tried calling 2 different days, no one picked up.A shout out to the baristas! They are very friendly. I was asking a lot of questions.I had a strawberry matcha with almond milk, a Secret drink (name on my blog) and a Sakura.

Walked into the business and there were at least 10 people sitting inside at tables with no masks on. I did not have a mask and approached the counter to order some coffee. Before I could even reach the counter the girl at the register asked me across the room if I had a mask. I said “no, I don’t” and looked around the business at all the people without masks on. She then said I needed a mask to order and offered me a mask from behind the counter. I asked her if she was serious and then looked around the room again at all the people now staring at us. She said yes. I turned around and left.This review is to address the wokeness and virtue signaling that apparently is more important than customer service and not publicly embarrassing potential patrons. If you’re going to be open and allow people to dine in your establishment and eat and drink with no mask but require a mask to walk to your register to order, you’re not concerned with health, it’s WOKE theater. If the place was “Togo only” I would kinda understand. It’s not. There is nothing scientific or health conscious about making people wear a mask to walk 10 steps and place an order, only to remove it once they sit down at a table.

The coffee here is pretty great. Ive become addicted to their take on Vietnamese iced coffee. They only take cards and not cash, though, so thats a bit annoying. I also wish they had outdoor seating under their awning as well as the indoor seating they offer.

Good atmosphere, good music and even great coffee. The girls in the front were super attentive and gave some great recommendations will definitely be coming back.

**EDIT**Stellar is under new management! And with that came an entire remodel. While the old cafe was adorned with unique mementos, photos, and had more of a house-turned-coffee shop feel, the new layout is much more modern. Everything is uniformed and tri-chromatic. It’s the IKEA model of coffee bars.Now with the name change came a change in coffee source. The beans come from Austin, TX. Their blends are slightly more robust and flavorful. Yet the prices have stayed the same.Fair prices. Friendly staff. Students welcome. Plenty of outlets. Fast free Wifi. Desks and coffee tables to work in groups.

We stopped at this local coffee shop to get some coffee for our road trip. My husband and I both ordered cold brew coffees and it was some of the most flavorful coffee Ive had in a while. The barista was also very friendly, we swapped stories about random things. We plan to visit again when we visit San Marcos.

Good coffee with an updated modern feeling inside and a porch out back for winter evenings outside. The coffee isnt cheap but it isnt outrageous either. It is more open than it used to be with what I assume to be their slogan on the wall. Be a good human. Who cant get behind that?

Just your run of the mill overpriced coffee and teas, I got a chai tea latte and it didnt even taste good.

3 starts due to the amount of seating and environment, but when it comes to the taste of Chai tea, I wasnt fond of it. As a Chai tea lover, this was the worst Chai I have ever tasted. It was nothing but milk and I despise milk. I personally like to taste the spice more than the milk. Please reconsider how you serve Chai to Chai tea lovers. You can always add more milk to take the spice away, but you can never add more Chai to already served glass. You could check on Google and notice the color of the Chai that is served here is significantly lighter in comparison to milk more than Chai. The brew is suppose to be stronger, the taste of spice is suppose to come out. Those are just little tips to attract more tea lovers.

I love the people here, and the coffee is on point! A cortado is my go-to and the first thing I order when I walk in. The new owner and team are really gonna make this place something! Im so glad San Marcos has a specialty coffee shop I can call home.

Great location, service, and atmosphere. If theyre serving Flat Track (Austin) or Edison (Dallas), youre getting the best cup of coffee you can in San Marcos.

Service was great and the space is pretty relaxed. Coffee actually wasnt that good. Had the americano and a drip medium, both were bearable. Nice coffee spot in a pinch though!

Love the coffee and the staff. They take caution for Covid 19 . They spray your credit card with sanitizer after they swipe it and before handing it back to you. This is not that big of a deal, but, during this pandemic, any small step taken to help prevent is worth it. Also, no other stores do it.

The coffee was good and the service was good but $12 for two small cups of coffee is crazy.

They have delicious coffee and a nice atmosphere inside, however Im giving Stellar a one star review after being a regular for over half a year now due to the staff and management. I never had issues with any of the baristas until recently- I had a very unprofessional experience with the store manager and after reaching out to the business owner about it, I had another similar experience. I loved Stellar, however due to the way theyre treating their regular customers like myself, I would highly suggest not supporting this business and opting out to Coffee Bar a couple stores down instead- their coffee is just as delicious (if not more) and has much better management and customer service. Pay attention to the businesses youre supporting!

Update: I believe they have fixed AC issue. Time will tell. So I updated review.Everything will be great when they stop setting the AC to freezing.Its cold outside and they keep it freezing inside. Not the environment for a place where people come to work and read.

Love this place! Currently trying to visit all the coffee shops in San Marcos but I always seem to come back to this place. They do a great deal at night where coffee is half off until closing time and their rewards system keeps me coming back. I enjoy waking up early and getting to study here.

Such a clam and peaceful environment with a lovely atmosphere that radiates a warmth i cannot quite describe. The acoustics are amazing with very great music being played and a lovely projector showing anime. Great coffee and great customer service.

A cute, clean establishment with a good variety of coffee drinks and excellent service. It’s nice to have a coffee place that’s suited for both take out and study sessions between classes in downtown San Marcos.

Not much of a coffee drinker, but the hot chocolate was amazing. And yes I gave it 5 stars because when you enjoy something you enjoy it. The staff was friendly and upbeat. Great atmosphere, and the music is jazzy so nothing to complain about there. Very nice and organized as well.

Nice, quiet coffee shop right off the square. Great place to study as it is not a long walk from campus. They have many unique drinks that I have not seen at other shops, and also offer two different types of espresso which is very nice.

Stellar coffee co is just STELLAR. It always taste yummy and the ambiance is always amazing. The team is super sweet.

Stellar is a chill coffee shop with good coffee (espresso drinks). They dont harass you with country music like the place that I walked out of before coming here, but blanket the place with low and unobtrusive jazz that mercifully isnt of the smooth variety. The atmosphere is relaxing, there is a mix of tables large enough for two or a laptop, a decent amount of accessible electrical outlets, and several seats of the more cushioned variety. Improvements would be in the form of adding solid fare to the cafes offerings. Or, if they already offer food, making it apparent.

Spectacular coffee. Get your coffee here. We had a group of four and ordered a plain latte, the lavender mocha, model T, and the lucky latte. Perfectly creamy drinks with a great coffee flavor. It was pretty quiet when we were there. We will be back if we come to the area again or pass through anywhere near it.

Sometimes it is good, other times not so much. It seems like service is always pretty slow though regardless. Their cookies are really good, as well as the dirty horchata in the winter. I would recommend but be prepared to wait a while.

Their new location directly across from the old store has allowed them to expand their seating and overall guest accommodation. They recently had a small food menu along with alcoholic options.

I really love the staff here, theyre always friendly and more than happy to answer questions. They keep the place very clean so it was a comfortable place to bring my daughter to do school work. I have really enjoyed the time we have spent here!

Amazing local business, choose your bean/blend, and your brew method, lists different flavors beans have in the menue, other small snacks like cookies pies etc. Staff was very friendly and they stay open late during finals weeks for students. Also hot coco is absolutely amazing! Great joint if youre a coffee snob or even if youre just a fan of the cafe aesthetic its a nice place in town to visit. This is a great place to study. Their tea selection is wide and delicious. The employees are kind and the atmosphere is pretty chill. Just kinda wish they had a better seating area inside, its kinda cramped.

Crazy good coffee. Coconut Oil Mocha and Lavender Mocha are among my favorites. Super location, ambiance and backyard patio. Establishments like these make San Marcos unique.

While clean, pleasant atmosphere, and friendly baristas... This place just feels average. Like its a generic cafe with nothing that makes it stand out. The coffee isnt notable and lacks the deep fulfillment of that first sip.

I personally think that Stellar Cafe offers the best coffee in San Marcos. They care about the quality of their beans, where the coffee comes from, and switch out options often to allow a fun change to the menu for their pour over coffee. This is also the only location that I know even offers pour over coffee in SM. The only reason I dont frequent it as often is because despite the amount of furniture now made available I feel that only half of it is of a good sturdy quality, there are only one or two tables that allow you to truly spread out your materials and work on things, and I find myself scouting for a table that will allow me to cross my legs under. Many are very low to the ground or thick. I am also constantly concerned about the parking situation and whether or not my car will be towed after two hours unless I park close and can watch it from within the venue. I hope Stellar keeps getting business because they have the best coffee in SM!

Short version:this place is absolutely amazing.Long version:My boyfriend and I had just recently visited here since moving to San Marcos, and let me just tell you... This place is amazing. Dane and Tyler were the baristas working at the time, and they were so friendly and welcoming. Ive seen a few reviews saying that employees here werent big on conversing (??lol, weird), which I understand they kind of have to be to keep the atmosphere. So we just had small chit chats with them but it was still a pleasant conversation on terms of employee-to-customer.For drinks, I had an iced white mocha latte, and my boyfriend had their featured iced blueberry muffin latte (both were with oat milk instead of dairy). Their espresso was so flavorful and extracted perfectly. Not too acidic, but not too smooth. I could also tell they care very much about their products quality since they use Oatly as their option of oat milk!We were there for about two hours and the atmosphere and aesthetic of the building is so calming! It was VERY clean and spacious.When leaving, we HAD to get some to-go, so I got their featured smores cold brew since it sounded pretty interesting. It had a fluffed marshmallow cream on top of house made cold brew, and if I remember correctly- there was just a tad of syrup flavoring the cold brew to taste like smores, or maybe it was just the marshmallow? Either way, it smacked, of course. Im so picky when it comes to cold brew because I like to enjoy it black (with the exception of a bit of flavor added, sometimes) and there are specific notes I enjoy tasting from the actual bean that is used. The smores taste was extremely enjoyable and yet it wasnt overpowering- and I could still taste and enjoy the notes of their amazingly crafted cold brew.Lastly, my boyfriend had a hot dark chocolate mocha latte (with oat milk). When they gave it to us, the first thing I noticed is that it was a PERFECT latte. The ratios were near exact, and the foam was so smooth and silky. obviously, it tasted amazing, and the dark chocolate didnt make it bitter. I noticed at the time they were using Ghirardelli syrups for their chocolate flavors- which is really nice to see.Stellar is definitely on my favorite top 3 of coffee shops I have visited... Ever. They definitely focus on the craft and quality of their drinks which is harder to find at other shops nowadays. This isnt just another wannabe coffee shop that masks its chemical-fire-roasted-beans with twelve pumps of Di Vinci syrups. With Stellars quality, I understand their price point. Its delicious. and I hope to start coming here as a regular.

Mocha lavender is awesome. I love how the coffee is always the perfect temp when you get it and is drinkable instantly.

I love Stellar Café! The baristas there are friendly, laid-back, and really good at what they do. Savoy is awesome and he makes the best frappe Ive ever had. This is definitely a place to go hang out and get a great cup of coffee. My favorite is the Show Boat. The atmosphere is relaxed and quiet with a variety of seating areas to read, study, or catch up with friends. I definitely recommend this place. They also have nice bathrooms which is always a plus.

Green tea latte has zero flavor. Im not talking sweetness, either, like most people probably would. Im talkin flavor. Nothing. And the pumpkin spice latte is gritty and unbalanced. The vibe is try-hard and generic.

Decent coffee shop next to this great place called the Cattery Lounge its a net feline adoption facility where you can go in and chill and play with the cats work on your student papers use their Wi-Fi by a drink or a snack and even adopt a cat and take home your best friend. the coffee next door is okay.

First time visitor from Ohio! Heres my 411- Great place, helpful customer service and they took the time to give me a few pointers. I tried their white mocha, which is the best one Ive ever had. Im usually not a mocha person. I added cinnamon and had 2 pumps of syrup instead of their 3 for a large.​ The atmosphere is cozy with easy access for a wheelchair, besides the door; youll have to open it yourself or have someone help. They do have easy/ish access bathrooms, except you have to ask for a key to get in. They have lots of cozy spots to sit, free wifi, and nice lighting.
