I went in looking for hiking boots. Haven did a fantastic job helping me decide which boot would be best for me and then made sure the size was perfect. After a few long hikes I’m very happy with the choice. Great job Haven!

I’m a regular shopper at Sports Basement in Santa Rosa. A super motivated salesperson named Lynette helped me today. She was surprisingly knowledgeable about shoes. I was a little taken aback by how knowledgeable. She was also not afraid of approaching customers like i have experienced with younger generations at other stores. The staff were all very helpful, and offered ideas to make shopping here better, such as saving 10%. Awesome! And, they have good choices for drinks so we could grab something cold, and yeah, saved 10% on those, too. Cool. Then, I noticed recycling bins for lots of things, not just cans and plastic bottles. Way to be proactive, good job!Did I mention they have a great selection to choose from? We found everything we wanted! Saved us from going anywhere else for tennis gear :) nice!

When I first called Sports Basement to inquire about E-bikes I was able to speak with someone right away . Joes demeanor was friendly throughout the process which made the process a lot easier .I had a lot of questions and It was was bit intimidating at first for me . The staff was great and answered my concerns and questions ..I got the impression that people seemed to genuinely enjoy their jobs. I ended up purchasing the E-bike Joe initially recommend ...Sports Basement even has gently used items .I am very happy with my purchase and I highly recommend them .

TLDR: Great folks, great prices, awesome selection and bike mechanics.Sports Basement is always my go to place for anything sports related. They are the source of all my cycling and running gear and conveniently are a frequent packet pickup location for events that I participate in (which is REALLY nice because they give you a 20% off coupon on your purchases with your bib!!) They also have their own community for running or cycling which is amazing. I am always referring people here because they are extremely knowledgeable and very friendly. Top marks!!

Joe is wonderful and a huge asset to Sports Basement. He helped me pick out a bike lock for my husband and spent time doing so. I asked him if they carried a certain type of shoe. Sonoma Clean Power is offering vouchers towards the purchase of an E bike with certain required qualifications. I met the criteria and went on line to look at the list of participating bike dealers. Sports Basement is one of them and they had a bike on line that met my list of would be nice to have. Visiting the store in Santa Rosa I was greeted by John the department manager who beautifully and plainly answered all my questions and went over the differences between the brands and options. I selected the Cannondale that I saw on line and it was their last one. John and his staff greatly assisted me in selecting add ons such as a more comfortable seat and most of all a bell....They made sure the bike fit me properly. Their bike technician Bender did a very detailed go over of the bike including making sure the wheels were trued and gears in perfect working order . Then came the fun part of finding the best way to transport my new bike in my Honda Ridgeline. John assisted me by doing research on the web and they happen to have the right one in stock and it was the last one...He assisted me attaching the tailgate pad and securing my new e bike for the ride home and future destinations. They store manager even congratulated me as their first customer using the Voucher. Found all the staff to be welcoming and accommodating. I so appreciate when staff takes extra steps to insure customer satisfaction during the purchasing process.

I wandered in last week to look at bike gear and ended up buying a weight bench. The staff was incredibly helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. They even brought it to my car and patiently waited while I figured out how to fit it in. Im a basementeer (and a fan) for life.JSD

Brought our son to the Basement to look at a mountain bike with no intention of buying one. He was showing me all the pluses on this one and the sales person came over taking the bike of the rack. He also seemed to be very into Mountain bikes and explained everything throughly. Winston was rather excited when the sales fellow asked if Winston would like to take it out for a test ride. Winston returned and and his excitement was flowing. The fellow explained more as I realized Winston was wanting to buy it and knowing he was saving for just that bike but no way near the $$ needed just then mom came in well between the two of us we bought it. I can’t say enough about the bike technician/sales rep he was very informative. Thanks!

It about the friendliness place out there

Went in looking for new skis. Reed was super helpful and knowledgeable about various types of skis and recommend me a pair which I ended up purchasing and absolutely loving. Great customer service and all around experience.

Whitney assisted me in finding the perfect pair of running shoes to get back into running, she asked a lot of questions about how I run such as if I’m flat footed, if I experience any pain while running, and so on. Whitney even showed me a new way to tie my shoes so that my heel does not slip, and they’re tighter around my ankles. She is a running/shoe expert, and I would highly recommend visiting her if you need help finding the perfect shoe.

Always a good selection of stuff, every sport showcased. Cool to see a fairly large selection of womens MTB biking stuff!

Yesterday I bought a new bike at Sports Basement in Santa Rosa. The entire team in the bike department was fantastic; they were friendly, knowledgeable, patient with all of my questions, and did a lot of work to make sure that I got the right sized bike for my body.My job involves customer service and I understand the work that goes into making a purchase like this a great experience. The Sports Basement team has put in that work and I do appreciate it.

I rented some equipment for snowboarding and they employee that assisted me was awesome. He knew what he was doing and was very polite.

Great help in the shoe department

They had a decent variety of equipment but no range in quality. They have bikes to baseballs but only the higher end name brands. Everything was pretty expensive. The organization of the store was also sort of scrambled.

Reed, the di boot specialist really knows his stuff..!!..having grown up at Lake Tahoe and having worked in ski shops since 10, is the dude to see..!!..we have a new cool running boots, skis & poles..!!!

I LOVE Sports Basement!! Great selection, good prices, really nice people, awesome bike mechanics. Im so glad we have a store in Santa Rosa! Im high risk for C-19 and they did everything right in the safety protocols. I was able to rent a bike to test it out, pick up and drop-off curbside. When I bought the bike a few days later, I got my rental fee back and a nice discount cause Im a basementeer.

This is hands down the best sports store around. I just moved here in July and I have just purchased my third bike here. I often come to talk to the crew as they all have been very knowledgeable and extremely helpful and patient. I have not found better deals anywhere including online. They are willing to special order at no extra cost. Their service and warranty is superior. Come support this local chain you will only be pleased and your needs more than met. I plan on buying a fourth bike before I move in two years just because I love this place and the people that work here.

Went in to buy some ski poles ended up walking out with a new set of skis and bindings. Not only did Tommy sell me on a new set of skis and bindings but he hooked it up big time and was able to mount the bindings in less then an hour rather than their typically 24hr turn around and I was able to ski with them the next day. Huge thanks to tommy and if you’re into skiing and looking for new stuff definitely ask for him.

My first time at SB and I was impressed. Stopped by to rent some skis and pick up some new snow wear and could not have been more impressed with the selection, the prices, and the feel of the store. The guy from the ski rental department was one of the nicest employees Ive encountered in a long time, we had to wait a bit because they were busy but we didnt mind because it was clear when he got to us wed receive his undivided attention until we were satisfied. We watched him go above and beyond to satisfy each customer. A great first time experience.

Ian in the ski/board department was very helpful. Unfortunately the ski guys where up on the slopes that work there.( It just dumped in Tahoe, you can’t blame them). Ian was new to the world of ski but if he didn’t know an answer to a question he didnt hesitate at all to get the correct info promptly and professionally. He helped me look through reviews to narrow down my search and gave me insight on what other customers thoughts where on the boots that he had helped previously. He provided a great service and I highly recommend asking for him if you need some ski boots. 🎿

Noah was very helpful and full of knowledge when I was shopping for new skis, boots and poles. He helped find the right gear for me and the next day the bindings were on and boots fit in just right!

Happy and able to help was what I experienced from Andrea. Not only that, she listened patiently to me as I described what wanted to find, and then brought me right to the where it would be. However, the shirt wasnt available in the size I needed. Without asking she had pulled up an order page on her phone, found the size at the Berkeley store, and asked me if I wanted it sent to my home. Awesome! Thank you Andrea.

We rented bikes for our teenage granddaughters to use when they visited us this summer. The girls loved the bikes and Sports Basement made sure each bike was correctly adjusted for each girl. Renting was a super easy and friendly process and we had lots of family fun riding together.

I thought this was kind of a bargain basement type of place but I loved this store! Great clothes, shoes and the nicest most helpful crew. I rented last minute snow gear and left with a cute women’s T-shirt for myself too.

After trying in vain to find a size 6.5 D width quality running shoe online for my wife we ventured into Sports Basement in Santa Rosa CA. They had the shoe and at a great price! Were happy campers!

Now that Im able to get a reservation at one of several pools, in Santa Rosa, Rohnert Park and Petaluma, I needed more pool toys, including flippers and goggles and Teva flipflops as well as Sun Bum sunscreen. Im happy!

I found myself in need of having to ship my bike back to the manufacturer in Florida. Having to navigate the logistics during a pandemic was quite the experience. My first inclination was to go to FedEx. This proved to be futile. While I was getting my gears adjusted to ready my bike for shipment, Colten at Sports Basement in SR, told me he could package it and have it ready for shipment. YES, thank you Colten for such a wonderful job. What a relief to have such good customer service during this crazy time. I will only use Sports Basement from now on for all my biking needs. Colten, you won me over!

I went in for a pair of cycling gloves and connected with a gentleman in the bike department. He was AWESOME!!! He went thru all of the types of gloves and spent a good 15 minutes with me explaining what I might need to keep my hands from being numb on my early morning winter rides. Last minute snow equipment rental, Forest was amazing and helpful, got the student what they needed, and was quick and painless. Explained all the options for rental and time periods. Prices were fair, and the return was as easy as waking in, checking the bag in, and a thank you and smile from the other attendant.

I recently had my Specialized road bike serviced here for an annoying creak and all around tune up. John in the service department did an amazing job diagnosing and fixing the problem. He explained the issue thoroughly in a way that was easy to understand for my novice cycling vocabulary. Definitely my go to service department in Santa Rosa. Rented some snowboarding gear and everything worked out great. The gear was actually pretty good (great for a rental) and like new. The prices were surprisingly good too.

We had a few newly discovered bike issues late Friday before Gran Fando. Thankfully Sports Basement was open past 7, no other shops in Santa Rosa were open. Preston was the mechanic on duty, we found him to be very professional and willing to go the extra mile. He really put great effort in getting us squared away before our big ride. We were lucky to meet a knowledgeable mechanic during an off peak time and who was so overly helpful.

I only became conscious of this store during the Santa Rosa marathon. The level of engagement by the staff is fantastic. They have been very helpful to me on numerous occasions now, and I really appreciate it.

Rob, spent more than an hour with my wife and I yesterday helping us prep for a trip to walk the Camino de Santiago. He was awesome to take the time to fit my wife with Superfeet foot beds. We were prepared to purchase new hiking shoes if necessary but he assisted us with several different foot beds until we found the right one! Rarely do you find someone as service oriented in this day and age. He then introduced us to Noah who spent another 45 minutes fitting my wife for a lightweight backpack. John runs an efficient and inviting Bike Department at the Santa Rosa location. He communicates clearly with customers over the most complex and technical mechanical fixes and diagnoses. I have found the whole department staff approachable and helpful. SBSR is not yet well known as a source for equipment and service as it is still a very young store. This will change fast as more customers visit and get to know their reputation for quality, service and an overall good vibe.

Great first day at their Grand opening event. Even got a free lunch! I look forward to shopping with them. Big opens space, rustic, comfortable interior. Hopefully, though will be having a bit more inventory to choose from.

The prices are awesome, its a Big Box store with employees that treat you like youre in their personal shop.

This is a long overdue review for John Blackwell in the Santa Rosa bike department. I had taken my bike to the repair department of a well-known bike store with multiple Bay Area locations to fix a derailleur issue. After three attempts, the last of which involved the installation of a washer that did not belong on the bike, failed to fix the problem, I went to Sports Basements Santa Rosa store. John diagnosed the problem, ordered the necessary part and fixed my bike on his first attempt and its felt like a brand new bike ever since. John was helpful, friendly and communicative and will be my go-to guy for service and repair going forward.

Okay these guys are great. I rented a snowboard and shoes for a weekend and had a great experience. Noah and Jayden were awesome helping get the right gear. And to top it all the way off, I ran into the two of them ON MOUNTAIN, and they were kind enough to help me adjust my board to goofy stance on the DAMN PEAK. Hows that for customer service. Not to mention V at the front desk is a total boss..You know what, they all need raises asap. Im starting a petition.
