Dr. Cutler was very helpful and considerate. He was exceptionally knowledgeable about my situation. He not only treated my eye problem but notice something else that concerned him and recommended I go straight to the ER. After taking his advice i was very thankful and can say I am doing well. He has more than bedside manner he truly cares about his patients.

Ive been going to Kirkwood for almost 2 years now and have a wonderful experience each time. Whether Im ordering and picking up glasses or there for my annual eye exam, I always feel welcome. Dr. Brooks is great and the entire team are very helpful and knowledgeable.

UHC member beware....To all UHC members. Please be careful when visiting this kirkwood Eye Center. I schedule an appointment and they were going to charge me 75$ for an eye exam. The lady that I spoke with said that the eye exam fell under the medical insurance and the vision coverage is only for the determination of a glasses prescription. I walked out and went to call my UHC insurance provider.When I spoke with the Insurance rep. at my company. They told me that the only reason an eye doctor should be using your medical insurance is: 1) if a patient does not have vision coverage but does have medical insurance, they can file your exam under your medical insurance. 2) if you have an actual medical condition or a medical procedure that is needed, i.e. form an injury or some other underlining issue… other than blurry vision from old age. 3) They dont accept UHC vision coverage.According to my insurance rep, UHC’s website thats how it works, even the Kirkwood eye centers website says this is how it should be. But when I showed the lady my vision card that stated my exam was only a 10$ copay, she still tried to charge me the 75$. My insurance provider said I can always file a claim and get that money back… but should I have to?If you have UHC vision coverage, be careful with this place.

At the recommendation of a friend, I made an appointment to see Dr Brooks. Overall, my visit went very well. While the cost was $50 more than I was paying my former eye doctor, the examination was more thorough and with modern equipment. The staff was very friendly as well. Dr Brooks has done a wonderful job with my ortho-k lenses. He is very knowledgeable, stays up to date on hi s field of practice, takes his time to understand and throughly answer any questions I have. The staff is very responsive, respectful, and warm. The waiting area is tastefully decorated and comfortable. They also have a nice variety of eyeglass frames. I have been with Dr Brooks for over 14 years and will continue going to him, even though he is over an hour away from me.

Great experience! I had something stuck in my eye and I couldn’t get it out no matter how much I flushed- I was miserable! They got me in fast and Dr. Brooks got the little thing out of my eye right away! I felt immediately better and I’m so grateful! Thank you!

I had a corneal ulcer that turned into a viral infection. The level of care I received was amazing! I thought I was having a relapse and called Dr Z on his cell phone at 7:45 at night and he told me to meet him at the office. He took the time to check me out, only to find that I had gotten metal in my eye. He removed it and sent me home without pain. He also texted me first thing in the morning to follow up. You just don’t get that level of care anymore. The entire staff has that culture of taking care of their patients. Thank you Dr Zanella and staff. You impress me every time I’m at your office!

Dr. Brooks and the entire staff were amazing! My 17 year old daughter has had to see a different eye dr for the last 3 years due to insurance but I am ecstatic that we can return to Dr. Brooks!! My daughter is comfortable with them and I dont have to worry about unnecessary things being done just to make more money! We hope to never have to go elsewhere ever again!! My family has been going to the Doctors Zanella for years and could not be more pleased with the personal and quality services delivered. I will not be returning. I walked in telling him the contacts (for one eye only) werent working anymore. He proceeded to lecture me about wearing my glasses that are apparently stronger than I need even though I clearly told him theyre the only thing that makes me see clearly. Then gave me almost the same prescription contact (again, for only one eye), and ignored me when I told him it still wasnt helping during the test. I didnt even want anymore contacts. Lastly, got charged a pretty good fee for the contacts I didnt want after he said he was just giving them to me free. He seems an alright doctor, BUT he does NOT listen to his patients. Waste of my yearly checkup. Look elsewhere because Im sure theres better.Sincerely,Blind until next year.

I was nervous about trying the Ortho-K contacts in the beginning because I had difficulty getting traditional contacts in & out of my eyes, but to my surprise, I adjusted to them quickly. They are much easier to get in & out, comfortable to sleep in, and your eyesight is clear by morning. The best thing about them is that my eyesight wont continue to get worse overtime, and I can go to school, play baseball, football and run track without the hassle of contacts or glasses during the day. The whole process is easy and super convenient.

I was having trouble with some blurring in part of my eye. Dr. Deborah was so helpful and their many tests helped to find the problem and recommended me to a specialist. Kirkwood was fantastic - seriously the best, most thorough exam Ive ever had. Dr Brooks listened to my complaints about dry eyes and floaters and gave me a specific plan of action to get my eyes to optimal health. Ive been battling dry eyes for years, and he offered two solutions Ive never heard of and are already making a difference in my eye comfort level. He also explained everything to me as we went, and I left with a better understanding of what was happening in my eyes.The offices are beautiful and the staff is very welcoming and friendly. I have been a patient of Dr. Brooks for at least 12 years, and I have to admit, I miss Dr. Brooks old practice and his staff. My first visit was very disappointing. The new facility may look expensive and amazing, but I found the environment and staff to be cold and impersonal. First I was met by the unfriendly front desk person who had a hard time finding me in the computer for my appointment, and then proceeded to tell me that my vision insurance couldnt possibly work the way that I said it does (exactly like it has since I have been a patient) because BCBS doesnt usually do it that way. And, of course, she was wrong. I was disappointed that no one had looked up my vision benefits prior to my arrival. I shouldnt have to dread going into an appointment because of the fear of unfriendly office staff, and them having no idea how my insurance works. The girl who called me back for my appointment was cold and rushed through her part of the eye exam. I felt Dr. Brooks rushed through his exam and time with me as well. I felt very unimportant there. So disappointing, especially since I have been a patient for such a long time.

Called to check what the charges would be with our new insurance. Was told we have no changes to the charges. After the appointment they added charges that we not covered and never discussed due to new insurance. Asked to talk to Dr about charges and they refused to discuss.

Ideally, I can not post review as I did not have an appointment. But I am very discouraged with front office staff and they do not even bother to check insurances and it seems they are very premature in rejecting or billing patients very high. Doctors may be great, but front office was huge turn down.

Everything about Kirkwood Eye Center is amazing! When I walked in the door, the office staff all said hi and offered me coffee and water, and even joked about how it was a little late for coffee. By the time I was finished filling out the paperwork and returned the clip board to the front desk, I waited less than 5 minutes to get called back. The first person who helped me, was very nice and explained everything that she was going to do. When I told her that I was extremely nervous about the puff of air thing, she made me feel at ease and we only had to do it once (at my previous eye doctor, the puff of air test was done several times and once I didnt even get it done at all). The doctors were also very friendly and I like how I was given several options on what to do about my vision. Finally, the office is extremely clean! I will definitely recommend this place to all of my friends!

This is not your average eye exam. I made an appointment for my eye exam with Dr. Pete Zanella. From the moment you walk in the staff is so incredibly professional. There are two employees at the front to check you in, take your coat and offer you a cappuccino! I get an eye exam every year but I have always been hesitant to get my eyes dilated for the glaucoma test with my previous doctor because I would not be able to resume my day until my eyes were back to normal. Kirkwood has a digital machine that gives an image of your entire eye that was so cool!! The test was so fast I didnt expect it to show so much on the scan. I didnt have to have my eye dilated and Dr. Zanella was able to tell me I didnt need the glaucoma test at that time. Dr. Zanella took a lot of time to explain everything to me on the scan even though it was normal. I really appreciated the details and the way he wasnt in a hurry to get to the next patient. Bottom line, the staff and the office was incredible and all the technology they offer is really impressive! Its unlike anything I have ever seen before in an eye doctor exam. Highly recommend this office!!
