Oh my, what a wonderful place to begin the day. The smell of good coffee lingered in the open doorway as a few people forming a small line engaged in pleasant conversation. I was able to enter, order and exit within ten minutes and easily made it to my 8:30 rendezvous in the park. The breakfast cookies were delicious! I will sit at the outdoor seating area next time and enjoy the quiet and shady neighborhood.

Great place great coffee but…totally underwhelming and flat almond croissant- needs about twice as much almond paste inside and 4-5 times more almond slices on top. If they would make that a chocolate almond would be ….just heaven.I’d be willing to pay extra if they are skimping on account of costs.

This is the Washington state law regarding parking next to a driveway! )RCW 46.61.570Stopping, standing, or parking prohibited in specified places-In front of a public or private driveway or within five feet of the end of the curb radius leading theretoIs this so difficult to be mindful of??? Respect and not hindering homeowners from turning into our homes without extra time spent to not hit vehicles parked so close????This bakery needs to post this law at the entrance and they would if they cared about the neighbors whose streets are invaded every day by their patrons!!! There is no concern on their end and apparently too many people have no care or respect as everyday someone parks blocking our driveways partially and even totally!!! Dispicable entitled people with no regard for others and their property. If you park any closer than 5 feet from any driveway on 18th ave to visit this bakery, I am no longer calling or coming in to have you move; I am having your vehicle towed.

In Montana, where I am visiting from, there is no shortage of amazing grains, pastries, and bakeries. My group came to Rockwood with Hopes of eating the best that Spokane has to offer and we were not disappointed! First, The Chiche was fluffy and flavorful. Next, the turnover was pleasantly large and had fresh cherries and the perfect amount of powdered sugar. The espresso was crisp and very hot. Plenty of seating in a comfortable and classic atmosphere reminds one of a movie set.

Overall: 85/100Food: 75/100Service: 95/100The mixed berry scone is kinda dry. The apple pie has a great crust and flavor, but the actual apple itself is too mushy for me. I like my apple with just a little bit of crunch, this is more like a apple paste.Good service, friendly, very welcoming.P.S. the parking here is atrocious.

Lets start with the good:The location and atmosphere is great. I love sitting on the patio to read/journal or taking my coffee to go and walking through manito. The staff are quite lovely? Always friendly and helpful. The pastries are quite delicious! The not so good:The coffee. The blend they get from roast house is SUPER dark which is not my favorite as it leans hard into the bitter side has no real discernable flavor (think folgers.... But not disgusting)Most of the baristas dont really seem to know what theyre doing/have good training. Their espresso beverages are wildly inconsistent.Take away:Go for the location, pastries, and staff.... Not the coffee

In an early 20th century market building just steps away from Manito Park is sitting the busiest hidden bakery I have ever been in. I never knew this gem was in Spokane before stepping foot inside. I love the preserved historical aspect of this bakery while never feeling stuffy. They make excellent coffee and tea amongst all the fine baked goods. I had a cappuccino that had a nice layer of foam. The croissant was delightful! It was buttery with a light flaky crunch. The chocolate that was wrapped within was the ideal balance of sweet and creamy while having a softness to it without being messy. I will definitely come back to this place as well as recommend it to others.

So this place was packed in the late hours of the morning (about 10 AM). Fortunately, we were helped in a quick manner. We both ordered the cheese Danish while I also ordered the banana bread. Spokanes living version of a New Yorker cover & the pastries represent well. Wi-Fi-less which is refreshing = available tables. Rockwood bakery makes great food, but if you are looking for something made to order then this is not the place for you. Drinks (coffee and Italian sodas) are the only things made to order while everything else is located in a case and warmed and plated when ordered. Located near the park, this place is usually busy during the lunch hour. Seating is a mixture of tables and chairs and sofa chairs and coffee tables. There is also outdoor seating in the front. Parking is on the street in front of residential homes. If you are bringing littles, there are high chairs and booster seats available.

Overrated (this is a review of their lattes/espresso). I haven’t tried their baked goods, so I’m not bashing that. But I’ve tried espresso all over the inland northwest and this has been BY FAR the most disappointing. The drink was steamed, pulled, and poured terribly. Absolutely no care was put into making the drink and it showed. I can’t speak to the baked goods, but if you’re looking for good espresso, go somewhere downtown.

Id last been to Rockwood some three years ago and enjoyed it at the time. Since then, I moved to Seattle and have experienced many other coffee shops and bakeries in the big city. Visiting Spokane and coming back to Rockwood was slightly disappointing. The atmosphere and staff is good as always, but all the baked goods seemed dry as if they were all day-olds, and the price of the pastries are much too high (3.75 for a plain croissant, seriously?). Cheaper, better quality pastries can be found elsewhere.
