Spectacles is the friendliest and most accommodating eye care store I have ever visited. They have a noticeable presence in the Penn State community that is attributed to their diverse product selection, friendly and knowledgeable staff, as well as their pricing and payment flexibility. While it may be a small store, it boasts many high-end brands you cant find in other stores or for as good of a price. Whether youre a student, faculty, or just a visitor, I would recommend this store for all your eye care needs.

I went in last week with a prescription looking to get a pair of glasses for classes and everyday use. The staff was immediately very welcoming and helped me find the perfect look for what I needed. This was my first time getting prescription glasses and I would 10/10 recommend coming back to Spectacles. It took only a few days and Charlotte at the front desk helped me through every step of the process!

I had a great experience at Spectacles! Its family owned and run. They are as concerned about Luxotica and their predatory practices as I am. Honestly they really took care of me it felt like a VIP experience. The glasses they sell are very high quality. Be aware that youre going to spend for quality, but these are an investment. The frames can be reused and will last a long time. Seriously impressive.

I broke the hell out of my only unbroken pair of glasses and the two ladies working on 10/8/21 around mid day we’re able to frankenstein my two broken pairs together in just a couple minutes. Extremely grateful they were able to bless me with sight on such short notice

Also, Joseph will make you knowledgeable about caring for your new spectacles. I loved their thoroughness, skill and unique glasses! Charlotte, Front Desk Staff was courteous. This is my second time purchasing spectacles from this small, quaint and hip independently owned business.

Highly recommend! The best place Ive ever gone to for my eyes. Dr. Halouha is kind and passionate about her clients; and her staff are so personable and beyond helpful. They all exhibit extensive knowledge in what they do and take their time in helping you be able to leave their office with confidence.

The doctor is fabulous and thorough. The optician is knowledgeable with a great sense of style. The staff is delightful. The products are hip. I can’t say enough good things!

The store owner Joseph is friendly and knows glasses very well. I got a pair of progressive glasses. It took a bit of time to get used to it. Joseph was patient to explain and help make adjustment to make sure the glasses fit.

I rarely give any google reviews but this place is just so amazing. Everyone is friendly, willing to help, and extremely professional. Some parts of my glasses went wrong and they helped me fix them. It was a small fix but they didn’t even charge me. Thank you so much for fixing my glasses on the first day of the finals week. You guys really made my day and I just wanna say THANK YOU!!

The staff at Spectacles are top notch, welcoming, and extremely helpful. I came in very uncertain about what I wanted, and they helped me land on glasses that Im extremely happy with. They also kept me up to date with the progress and ETA of my glasses. I was also extremely grateful when they recommended that I not purchase what I came in for initially, because with my insurance plan they pointed out that I wouldve wasted a lot of it. All in all, fantastic place that I feel comfortable putting my trust in.

Our household has three generations and we all go there for many years, the manager, the sales associates, the optometrist, everyone there is charming, well mannered and incredibly professional. They listen to your needs, give you advices, they are just great. We never had to complain in more than a decade.I highly recommend that store.

Ive been seeing Joseph and Julie for over a decade, I can confidently say they are the best in State College. During the past decade I have ventured out to other local vision providers and each time I have missed the dedicated customer support, attention to detail, and the huge selection of actually unique glasses. Joseph and his team are technicians of the highest level. They always make a perfect fit for perfectly comfortable vision (Truly an art form getting a frame to custom fit YOUR skull!). Since the office is smaller I really feel personal touch to ever interaction I have with them. Charlotte always works to find the best balance of using my insurance to ensure that between contacts and glasses I save as much as possible. Charlotte is always kind and courteous, even when Im late for the 20th time to my appointment(I think they plan that in their schedule at this point ha!) I will be truly sad if i leave the area and I am not able to easily use this office in the future.

Great service by great people. Very educated about products. Always willing to adjust and clean my glasses.2/8 update.I went back because I thought something did not seem right. Julie and their staff spent the time to figure out what was not quite right and made the necessary adjustments. Now I am good to go! Yay!

The office manager Charlotte and her other female employee at the front were extremely unprofessional. Unsure as to why there are so many positive reviews. Don’t go here!! The staff and office manager is deceitful and they lie about prices and add ons (uv/scratch resistant). They overcharge and refuse to give refunds for overcharges that you never agreed to. They mislead consumers and are just trying to make money off of you. Then when being dissatisfied for being overcharged, they blame the customer (the office manager pointed her finger in my face) and call you disrespectful for being misled about prices and charges. F.Y. Eye does not care about the customer. Worst and most unprofessional eye doctor/eyeware company in state college.

Rarely do you find a place where both the optometrist and optician are both stellar -- but Spectacles does it right. Dr. Haloua is very accurate and detail-oriented. Not all eye doctors are created equal, and youll appreciate the ease and professionalism of the exam. Once you have your prescription, Joseph will help you pick out a fantastic set of frames from the large array or fashionable options they stock. The variety allows for any budget -- anything from basic specs to the latest hand-picked looks from New York and Paris. Then, Joseph will clearly describe how different lenses function based on your needs, and which will fit best within your chosen frame, so you can make a solid decision. After many years as a client at Spectacles, I can confidently say I wouldnt trust anyone else with my face!

I bought a pair of eyeglasses from Spectacles a month ago and I couldnt be happier with my purchase. The store carries some of the usual brands, but also a variety of other brands you wont find in other stores, with really cool and interesting styles. The optician, Joseph, is very friendly, and he was excellent at suggesting different styles. He helped me find a pair of glasses that was just right for me. Ive gotten over a dozen of spontaneous compliments from strangers since I started wearing my new glasses! They are very nice here, service is great, but they are way too expensive. With my insurance included for glasses (the cheapest pair I could find) as well as a years worth of contact they wanted to charge me about $600. I went back to the Lehigh Valley where I have my traditional eye doctor and got a years worth of contacts, had my examination, and got a nice pair of glasses with everything I wanted in them for a total of $200. Very nice place, very nice service, but you can get the same service somewhere else for 3x less or even more, than here. Wouldnt recommend it unless you like blowing money.

This store is GREAT! The owners are always there, ensuring the best customer service and that everything is to your satisfaction. Ive bought about 10 pairs of glasses from there over the years, and they will do what they can to give the best price. As per other comments, you cannot compare this store to Wal-Mart, this is not a chain, this is a local family owned and operated business, who unlike Wal-Mart care for you like a family would. Even if some items are pricier than Wal-Marts, the service and quality are well worth it!

Dr. Haloua was phenomenal. I can tell how considerate she was to ensure that I get the best prescription for my lenses to the point that she did the whole procedure twice and even made trial glasses for me to try on - absolutely thoughtful! She also took into consideration all the issues I mentioned, because she tried to fit my needs by correcting these problems I was having. She is super patient and kind hearted, and I felt extremely comfortable with her; I loved her.When I came to choose glasses, Jodi was equally amazing. She took notes on the styles I like, but she also made sure that I look great in the frames, so I definitely appreciate how honest she was rather than sugar-coating her feedback. Choosing glasses with her was also super fun, and she surprised me a lot because she picked out styles that I never would have considered trying on, but to my surprise I LOVED. I am so happy with my experience, and I am looking forward to seeing how my new and different glasses are gonna turn out! And an FYI, I am SUPER picky! LOL. She deserves a golden medal bwhahaha.One concern I do have is the small collection of offerings. The frames I chose were beautiful, but super expensive, but there weren’t one similar to it at a more affordable price range. Perhaps, if they consider adding more variety and pricing points, it could help a lot since I am sure most of the visitors they have are college students. Doing so will definitely encourage a lot more people to come, because I was definitely warned by the pricings.Other than that, overall? Exceptional.
