I absolutely love this location! They have the best customer service. Secret is very helpful and so professional. I would recommend this Visionworks to anyone, and I’ve been to a few that I would not! Cannot speak highly enough about this store. I love the variety of glasses. I will be returning yearly for my exam.

I just left my doctors office and I need two pairs of glasses, so I called Visionworks only to get rerouted (like everyone else) to a calling center. Too bad because I was looking for a new place to buy brand new glasses but its important to me, that I can talk with people at the store locally, not in another state.

Collection is okay but not the latest.Got a pair of prescription sunglasses.The pair arrived with no wiping cloth with them though!I have never gotten any eye glasses where they dont give you wiping cloth, especially at these prices!

Doctor was quick and thorough, without feeling rushed. after my appointment I was able to buy two pairs of glasses quickly and smoothly at a great price. Stevie was very knowledgeable and friendly! Great place to get glasses

Very poor customer service over the phone. Spoke with a team member and the assistant manager, and both proceeded to speak very rudely and sharply when asking questions about a prescription.

You won’t find people more ignorant and rude anywhere else on earth.

Dr. James Mckelvey was extremely condescending and impatient. The exam was done in a rush while every once in a while the Dr got upset for my inability to read the letters. I left the room shocked, then went to another place that was substantially better, the prescription was very wrong (+1.5 in one eye!) and the other doctor was in shock to see the prescription I got just a few days earlier.

Ordered some contacts here and ended up needing them shipped somewhere else. Would not be a problem what so ever if you could EVER get someone on the phone here. School is out on break and I’ve been on hold for 40 minutes. I wish I could say this was due to covid but even before this pandemic it was impossible to get an associate on the phone here. Looking forward to making this my last transaction with this company if and when they ever answer the phone.

Dr. James McKelvey is amazing! I have been all over trying to get contacts and glasses that actually fit nice and is the correct prescription for many years. I seen him for the first time and he was able to get me contacts that feel amazing and my prescription is correct! The rest of the staff is wonderful there as well. Very polite and helpful. Thank you to the Dr. as well as the rest of the staff at Visionworks in State College, PA.

They refused to accommodate our son with contacts. He has a valid RX and wanted to try another brand and they said he will need to be seen by a dioctor. ... I said he wants the same contact that he had prior to what the DR perclscribed and Secret laughed at one point and stated they cant read his eye balls to determine his rx... he just wanted to Order the initial contact that he had prior to the new more expensive one that the doctor prescribed. Do yourself a Favor and go to another eye center. Secret is an embarrassment to Vision Works !!!

I had to get new glasses and contacts and I was unsure of even shopping here since I wasn’t sure they’d be able to take my insurance, after calling every other place around state college who doesn’t take it. Nikki ? I believe that was her, she had dark hair. She was very friendly and helpful and answered any questions I had regarding the pricing etc.

The staff was friendly and very patient with me. The optometrist was great too!

So, I got new glasses from a different Visionworks in Ohio near home while I wasn’t at school, and 4 weeks later before the first football game with the Blue Band I took a nasty fall on the concrete in uniform while wearing my new glasses and busted up the frames (and my face with 5 stitches to follow). I went to this location, where I have gotten frames once before and they helped me figure out the best way to replace my frames and get me seeing clearly again as quick as possible, even at no cost to me since it was under the 100 day guarantee that the company offered. I am SO relieved and happy with this team!! They’re the best!

My appointment was the best ever, the doctor was incredibly sweet, and made the visit super comfortable and easy. Secret helped me find the best glasses for me and was very sweet and pleasant to be around. i definitely recommend coming here for any eye needs you would have. The deal that they are currently having is such a money saver!

I was very pleased with my experience here. All of the employees were very friendly and chatted with me while I got ready for my eye exam and filled out the paperwork. The doctor was also very friendly and personable, and everyone answered all the questions I had. The eye exam was also very inexpensive...only $29 with a coupon from their website. Overall, just a great experience!

I had an incredible experience with my eye visit! My doctor was very personable and professional and had my exam done within 10 minutes. When it came to picking out glasses, Rachel & Shelia were so down to earth and accommodating! They fully explained my insurance coverage and gave me some style tips to pick the best frames. My glasses were ready to be picked up in less than a day!! I was extremely satisfied & will definitely be returning for all of my future eye visits!

I went there for my first time and I had a wonderful experience! Everyone was so upbeat and very, very friendly! The doctor was very professional, made me feel comfortable and she was so pleasant.

I was told my insurance was terminated and could not be used, checked with my insurance and a different vision works location and it can be. I dont know why this location told me it could not.

Had a coupon for another store but Vision Works was willing to get me a better deal!! The manager was so helpful in working with my price range. I even ended up paying half the cost of what I would have payed at the other store!! I will continue to go shopping at Vision Works for now on!!

I have gone to another eye doctor because I refuse make an appointment on line. I want to talk to somebody on the phone. I waited an hour for somebody to answer the phone and was unsuccessful.

I set up a apt online, NEVER received the comfirmation email with the 4 pages i NEED to have filled out b4 my husbands apt. I have calling everyday sometimes 4 times a day they dont answer, they send me to the operator which for 3 days now have been on hold for 45 minutes PLUS. i dont have time to sitting here waiting for a 5 minute talk like this. Which is why ive called back 3 days in a row.

These people were awesome! They were very accommodating even when I made multiple changes to my order and they didn’t have to be. A+ customer service!

Knowledgeable, courteous staff ! Dr. Ya a Bargender is absolutely the best! I found her down to earth, extremely honest demeanor very refreshing. I certainly don’t plan to go anywhere else for my eye care.

The only reason I’m not giving one star is because of one of the employee’s brief apology for their appalling lack of effort in billing my insurance. Despite repetitively telling these employees that my insurance DOES work at this store, two Visionworks employees argued with me for 5 minutes before even attempting to enter my insurance (and then realizing that I was correct! What a concept!) Once we’d sorted all that out, one of these two employees fitted me for my glasses and was horribly rude throughout. Not to mention, I had to listen to a different employee berating another customer because of a language barrier. Visionworks! Why are you guys so rude? I expected more!

I went In to pick out glasses and Rachel was extremely helpful . She greeted me promptly even though it was busy and helped me find the perfect pair of glasses. When looking at glasses she explained how it would work with my insurance and was not pushy at all. She was efficient and I actually ended up choosing a pair I wouldn’t have if she hasn’t shown them to me. I love my new glasses.We had to order my new glasses and the only downside was that they couldn’t track the order & tell me when they would come in. That’s the only reason I did not give 5 stars, but my overall experience here was pleasant. Rachel was incredibly knowledgeable on prices of everything, including different upgrades . This is probably the best place to go if you have insurance for glasses, you can get them for a good price .I should note that I did not get my eyes checked here, I went to an ophthalmologist. I can’t speak on that service. I was impressed with their customer service here

I was recently in the state college store and the associates when above and beyond to help me pick my sun glasses. Julie was really friendly and bubbly, and the manager made sure to check in with me to see how it was going. I will be back for sure

They fixed my broken sunglasses and replaced my nose pads on my prescription glasses for no charge! Definitely coming back when I need some new frames.

We will not use this store again. We have purchased glasses for our family for several years here and each time there is an issue, either they cant figure out coverage or they try to up charge for something. This time we were assured that the lenses we selected were the same as before. The lenses were much ticker than the ones in the current pair. My husband stopped to see what could be done and was told it is what it is. Well indeed it is, I will be sure to go to someone who is willing to serve their customer rather than not.

After company insurance changes, I had to find a new eye doctor. I originally decided to go to VisionWorks because they had a huge selection of frames; more than Costco or the other providers that were covered.I wasnt sure what to expect- it was my first time using an chain optometrist. I was pleasantly surprised once I got there though as the doctor was very personable and knowledgeable. He explained to me how and why my eyes were changing and the therapeutic effect that wearing the glasses would provided in addition to providing clearer vision.Store was well maintained and staff was polite.

I know business i know you have to make some dollars at the establishment but lying to people telling them that their ensurance wont cover anything but the exams and when you call your ensurance they tell you that they cover everything. Thats very low. They are scammers in my opinion

I just got 4 pairs of glasses. great sales and people. My husband and I have been going to this store since 2012.

I have such a rough time picking glasses, & today was the 2nd stop into this store. I picked up a pair & I loved it, I also had #s of ones that I liked from my 1st visit. The male sales associate was able to help me find those #s & then went on break. My daughter also needed glasses. She picked hers right away & I was having a tough time deciding between 2 pair. The Genral Mgr Shelia Kury allowed my hungry 4 year old & I to go get food & eat &sit on it we returned & I thanked her for dealing with me & my indecisive self & then I saw that if used insurance you could get 2nd full pair at 50% off, although this would have been nice to know of earlier in my 2 hour ordeal it was nice to get that because she then honored it for my daughter that we had just ordered for before lunch & told me of an even better deal & took her up on it. Getting 5 pairs of glasses for a super great deal. Highly recommend & go & deal with Sheila. You wont be disappointed

I went in there motivated to buy a new pair of glasses. As soon as I entered the store I imidately didn’t feel welcome. I wasn’t greated even though I was one of only two costumers in there at that time. After one of the associates explained their sales to me with a rude undertone I started shopping around. There was no costumer service given, no assistance offered! Once the second costumer left both associates started gossiping about the lady that had just left. Instead of offering me help finding a pair of glasses both ladies just continued talking bad about that previous costumer and her son. Working in retail myself, I was just disgusted by the lack of costumer service as well as their behavior as grown women. I left the store without a word, just startled by what just happened and when I looked back one of the associates was waving me good bye with a stack of papers! Unbelievable what had happened there.

Arrived with plenty of time for my 13 year old daughters 5:30 appointment. 3 female staff members were the only ones present. When I stated my daughters name I was immediately asked in a condescending tone with complimentary eye roll if I had an appointment. To which I replied yes. Rachel got up from her seat and irritability asked if the receptionist if I filled out the paperwork online. The receptionist stated yes but I needed to fill out the last page. Ok, no problem I thought. Well the last page given to me by Rachel was referencing consent to dialiate or not to dialiate. I asked Rachel the recommendation and she replied with another eye roll, every 2 years. I asked the receptionist if she could tell me if my daughter had been dialiated the previous year. At this point I confronted Rachel who was standing in the receptionist area, in front of my daughter and I and told her she was acting very annoyed and irritated to which she replied its not you guys. We continued with the eye exam and saw the doctor. Purchased a pair of glasses from another associate who did not at all seem bothered by doing her job. Rachel was very unprofessional but I thank her for the experience. It gave me the opportunity to teach my daughter a life lesson. I hope you see this Rachel and have a better day today!

Great people glasses got a scratch they replaced, had for 3 months lost glasses when went overboard fishing replacing at no charge . Now thats customer service

I had a long, drawn-out and ultimately poor experience getting my glasses at VisionWorks. There were several issues, including: 1) The glasses were first promised to be ready in 2-3 days, but later were not found in inventory and had to be ordered from a warehouse. This took about 2 weeks. 2) The initial prescription I was given by the doctor on site wasnt suitable (the glasses gave me headaches for 3 days before I took them back). The staff sent me back to a different on-site eye doctor who provided a different description and I was assigned a new pair of glass which 3) took another 2.5 weeks to arrive but did work well. 4) On billing I found that I had been upsold to the expensive HD lenses, without me asking, when I had asked for the cheapest pair of glasses with no coatings that I could get, and 5) After about 5 months, the right lens is deteriorating badly. It appear that some coating (which I never requested) is starting to come off and the lens is increasingly scratched and foggy. The left lens is perfectly fine. There were other small issues, such as the clerk taking the wrong color for my initial frame order (though this was fixed promptly). On the positive side, the staff there were very friendly and quite apologetic each time something went wrong with my glasses, and the extra doc visit and replacement glasses were not charged to me. However, given the facts that it took 5 weeks to get a pair of glasses that worked and that the glasses themselves have been more expensive and deteriorated more quickly than any I have ever owned, I can say that this has been the worst glasses buying experience I have had, and that Ill be looking for a new pair of glasses somewhere else after only having had these for 5 months.
