This is a very healthy option in downtown Valparaiso! The cafe has a cozy atmosphere with a unique setup. The food was absolutely delicious!! So fresh, and like it was made right in your own kitchen. Even the smoothies are outstanding, especially the Nutty Brothers. I definitely left feeling good!!

Very friendly staff. Variety of delicious vegan foods and Smoothies that can be made into a bowl. Great atmosphere. They have WiFi if you need to do homework or have a study group.

This place is a hidden gem. It has a really cool and artsy aesthetic. I came in because all of the great reviews and nice pictures and I was not disappointed. The smoothies here are so unique in the best of ways and the customer service was amazing! Olivia really went above and beyond! Definitely give this place a try!!

Phenomenal Customer Service! When I went in they had run out of frozen bananas but offered to use ingredients/make a smoothie similar to the ones we ordered. Their substitute smoothies were so good, you couldn’t even tell the difference (and my sister is a picky eater).

Always the nicest people working in t he cafe, and they do sweet things like give you extra food or larger sizes for free. They are always radiating good energy and positive vibes. The food and juices are also always delicious and make you feel good after eating them! Definitely some of the freshest raw food in the Valpo area! I drive 20+ miles just to come to this cafe! Love it.

The smoothies are incredible and the service is great :) the workers are so kind and very personable. I love that the cups are made from plants and compostable too!!If you stay and sit down, the tables dont get cleaned very often, but thats the only complaint. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

I order from here regularly, today placed an order online and never got the order. I cannot get anyone at Roots to answer, called DoorDash and they said my order was delivered, but cannot get ahold of Roots either. This was ordered during an important meeting with an out of town client, and I am very disappointed. Got an email back from Roots - Their phones were down and DoorDash took off with our food. Although we were hungry the rest of the day, at least Roots made it right. Happy they got back to us and refunded our money.

I’m obsessed with this place! The food is always so fresh and yummy. I feel so good after I eat here. Smoothies are really good too. If you’re into healthy, Mediterranean type foods this is your place to go.

My kids love this place. Theyre willing to adjust their smoothies (within reason) to meet your needs. The mom in me loves that they are trying new things that are feeding their bodies.

Ew salad was so yuck I had to throw it away. Paid $12 for a salad I didn’t even want. I wasn’t gonna go all “Karen” though and take it back. Just won’t ever be going here again. Cold, rigid, clout and expectations… they make eating healthy a mean girl lifestyle and I want no part of it lol

LOVE Roots! It’s definitely a go to vegan spot for me in Valpo. It has a great atmosphere, with split level dining and a small one seater bathroom on the lower level. To my understanding, they make everything fresh and in house and you can tell as soon as you take your first sip or bite of what you ordered! You can also see the fresh produce they use because they keep the refrigerators across from the register.They have artwork on the walls for sale, and they also let places post flyers and business cards on a wall at the lower level.While the food is excellent, it is a little pricey for a college kid. I had one of their wraps and a smoothie recently and was hoping for a little more food for the price I paid. However, quality is definitely 5 star worthy.I recommend whatever vegan muffin they have at the register! The last one I had was a banana nut muffin with chocolate chips! Best ever muffins!

Im not really into this type of food, but my friendis so we gave it a try. I foundthus place to be very welcoming and the food surprisingly tasty. I would definitely go back again sometime.

Loved the 1st smoothie I had, but on my next visit, the same type wasnt good since they used an under ripe banana which tasted very green which over powered the taste so it wasnt sweet at all. I can only drink a green drink if it tastes like fruit and is sweet. Id go there every day if the bananas were always ripe (yellow with no green) and if it didnt cost $7 for a small ($8 since I get protein powder to not get a sugar crash later. I cant justify spending over $2,500 a year just to get all or most of my veggie servings per day.

I enjoyed it very well. Nice friendly place. Had the Hummus Platter with Veggies and a Banana Blendz Smoothie wih Coconut Milk. Was delicious. Very pleased

Loved the juice here!! I was really looking for something to heal my digestive track after some not so great food. This really did the trick! I got the apple carrot ginger juice and it had an amazing flavor. If it was me, id add in a bit more ginger, but I like a spicy juice. My friend got a green fruit smoothie (banana apple kale spinach, maybe more) and she said they perfectly balanced the sweet flavor with the green flavor. If it was an option, she would go there every day for breakfast (we dont live in town, so not an option for us). The color for both of them was vibrant. They had a wide variety of options too. I also really appreciated the adhernece to social distancing and wearing masks. I felt safe and healthy - exactly what i was looking for. Plus a great location and comfortable outdoor seating.

I loved this place as soon as I entered. I was here for lunch ordered a large salad. It was so large that I had to take half of it home. Atop my spinach leaves were a plenteous amount of walnuts, feta cheese, and apples. Mmmm! I also loved my Thai sweet potato carrot soup. They have a good selection of gluten free muffins that are extraordinary. Mine was a spinach feta muffin and it was so moist and delicious. Next time I want to try a smoothie. I think the prices were reasonable for the portions I had. I highly recommend it for people who are looking for healthy, delicious, and fresh food.

So much easier than trying to make this on my own! Their smoothies and juices are so fresh and tasty. My Weight Watchers meeting this morning was talking about how wonderful their food is for meals! Everything tastes so fresh and generous portions but you never leave feeling like youve eaten too much. The atmosphere is beautiful to meet a girlfriend and Lounge on the couch but theres also bigger tables in the downstairs dining area and its such a aesthetically Pleasant place to be. I feel healthier just sitting there.

I ordered from out of state for a in-state family member that needed some healthy juices during a tough medical time. Roots easily and happily accommodated my request/order! Well done ! !

Got am apple cider which turned out to be over 200 degrees. Burnt my mouth to the point that it took a month to get feeling back on my lower lip. Took even took 65 minutes for the cidetvro cool to 160 degrees which is ideal temperature. Or tasted like pure ash. It is amazong this place is still in business but there are no standards for this area when it comes to tea, coffee, juice etc.

A little pricey but well worth the money. I love their juices and I had a lemon quinoa soup that was to die for. I love that they’re vegetarian so I know I can just order without having to ask.

First of all the food is great. Its very fresh, tasty, and healthy. Pretty much everything is vegan and gluten-free. Highly recommend this place for the taste. However, the prices are way too high and the portions are too small. If they would either make it cheaper or give you larger portions I would have no complaints. Great coffee and great smoothies as well.

Me and my wife are vegan so it was nice to find a place with those options here in Valpo! Food is fresh and simple. Really enjoyed the atmosphere as well. We will be returning, we are more than pleased with our experience.

Their juice and smoothie range is great. Also its the only place offering 100% organic goodies. Food menu is limited but I tried Garden Humus wrap and it was delicious. The only thing is they have pour on coffee only and if they had proper espresso machine it would be a 5 star for me.

I must admit that this fine establishment far exceeded my expectations...sadly five stars does not do it justice

Upon walking in I noticed a lady tidying up a plant. Nice place I thought...then I made the mistake of ordering their most unique juice. My mother and I took no time at all to destroy a large Pineapple Punk. So so good. I will def be back and tell others about this tasty bar. Ps. The plant tidying lady ended up being the owner. I could tell shes really put a lot into this place. Good job!!

I love this place! This is where I first learned about wheat grass shots. I love Valparaiso because there is so much to do and the people are super friendly.

Really love having a local smoothie shop, with clean ingredients and a kind staff. The only down side is that the smoothies are unpredictable in taste as well as consistency- some days the smoothies taste better than others which can be a let down when you pay a decent amount for one. Ive learned which ones tend to be a little too runny and lacking flavor and compensate by asking the staff to add ingredients- but some days the smoothies are perfect which keeps me coming back.

The food (fiesta quinoa bowl) and smoothie (pina-berry) was really good, and the workers were friendly.

Delicious drinks and a great selection... quite pricey though, so be prepared for a little sticker shock. Two large drinks with a couple add-ins at only .50¢ a piece came out to 20 some-odd bucks.

Really good stuff, if you want your drink cold make sure to ask for Ice.

Freshly brewed iced coffee is no bueno, and waiting nearly ten minutes to find out is extra dissapointing. Staff wasnt very personable either. Thought itd be a cool spot to visit but wont be coming back.

My family and I went in for a quick stop while we walk around Valpo after my sons first haircut. We were extremely disappointed. We got a few muffins, apple slices with PB, and smoothies. Seems like this place has never heard of lemon zest or the flavor enhancement properties of adding salt to baked goods. Everything was so bland. Surprisingly, even their PB wasn’t good. After living in Japan, my wife has developed a love for macha but she complained how the Macha Smoothie tasted like green coconut milk and nothing like macha. I highly recommend that quite a few things get revamped with the goal of increasing flavor. We couldn’t stop joking how this is one of those places that give the life styles of vegetarians and vegans a bad rep. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere more appropriately priced that has better flavor.

Not very impressed, over priced for what you get. Not very friendly staff and wanted a tip for really doing nothing. There is better places in this town, but it was clean and stuff seemed fresh and decor was fabulous.
