Service staff was great initially. Quick and honest about a recall and other problems typical to my car that my previous dealership refused to talk about. Semi joking, but I do wonder if they disconnected their phones. Called multiple phone numbers multiple times for two days now trying to get an update or loaner car but never get answer. Hard to plan trying to get a ride everywhere if you cant get an update on how long it will last.
All of the sales people and front office staff are very cordial and polite. Great experience if youre buying a car!HOWEVER, the service department is very unresponsive. Leave a message requesting information or an appointment? Dont expect to hear back for days or weeks(!?). Getting through to a person has not been successful for me at the service desk. Be warned.
Absolutely terrible customer service and lack of compassion. My husbands father became very sick and was told he doesn’t have much time left. We had to cancel our purchase and the manager is just refusing to work with us on previous deposits. It’s unfortunate this is happening to us and the manager is not willing to work with us.

During this challenging time in the world, kind and compassionate customer service is well appreciated.Mr. Greg with the Volkswagen service department is one of the most amazing people I have ever met in my whole life. From the first time I called to book an appointment last week, and today, words are not enough to thank Mr. Greg for being amazing.Last week Thursday, during the storm, he went under the rain to see that I got home safely. Due to the Tornado watch, service at the shop came to a halt, and people were encouraged to take cover at the end of the workshop for safety.Earth angels are still living amongst us, and Mr. Greg is sure one of them. I am very grateful for his professionalism and compassion! I pray that the company will recognize what a jewel Mr. Greg is, and I appreciate him for representing the company in a great light. Show up for service and its been a hour almost with no update. Go outside and find the car parked and all that was needed to be done was to have it on the car reader to find out if we were going to leave in it or drive home in a rental. Doesnt make any sense that you cant find out what the issue is because they have other more important things to do. It takes less than ten minutes to read a car.
These people never return your call or voicemail.I took my car here for service and they tell me nothing is wrong, yet My car is still showing the same symptoms. Cleary they were so overwhelmed with cars that they didn’t even look at my vehicle.

Dont go anywhere else if you own a VW. This is the only honest, polite, professional VW Service department I have been in. I love my Tiguan so I want to keep it a long time, therefore Royal is my go to place for any Tiguan related issues. They really deserve 10 stars.
I brought my new vehicle in for an oil change, tire rotation and an issue with the trailer lights. The rep I met was very helpful and immediately began to diagnose the light issue. After resolving the light issue he had the other service taken care of rather promptly. Overall an above average experience.
Royal was very accommodating and professional during the whole car buying experience. While shopping I had several other dealerships that were to aggressive. Justin and his manager were very forthcoming throughout the whole process and were willing to answer any questions and were patient with me. Buying a new car is a very big deal and they made the experience very smooth. Even though I would be considered a “warm lead”, they took my needs into consideration throughout the whole process and very customer focused. I would highly Rec commend Royal VW to anyone.
The customer service here is great and the establishment was clean. I came earlier than my appt. time they greeted me with smiles and offered muffins/coffee from there hospitality area. They even recommend a spot for breakfast and provided a ride there/back. I had a routine (in warranty) oil change, so I cant speak to prices, but they finished quickly. In CA whenever you get a service to your car they wash/vacuum, considering the $$ for these vehicles, why not.

I bought my jetta from this dealership in 2019 and had no problems, everyone was fantastic. Ever since then, Ive not been able to get a single service scheduled and call multiple times a day. The online scheduling form does not work properly, I never receive any call backs for requests, and when I do get someone on the phone they are extremely rude.UPDATE: Although it took forever to get in contact with them, they are extremely helpful and nice when youre able to book with them. Still needs some work on the website for scheduling and contact of service department.
Highly recommend Steve Lovelace to and Royal Automotive for buying a new used car! I was able to test drive, take to my mechanic to look over, and there was no pressure. I went in on a Monday and Steve was a pleasure to work with. Went back that evening and was in and out in 1 1/2 hours and drive off with the car! From my understanding they only sell cars that are turned into the Volvo, Buick, and Volkswagen dealership...no auction cars.

Very easy to book my appointment through the Volvo App! Received prompt service as soon as I pulled up, was given an accurate time estimate, and offered a ride. The team did a great job with my regular maintenance and helped fix an irregular issue I was having.
They are really helpful and courteous. They usually come outside to help you very quickly. They fixed a recall on my truck without me having to ask. They usually give you a pretty realistic wait time. They have a really good group of guys there.
I gave 5 STARS because of their 5 star service! When arriving to the Buick service area there was someone immediately there to great me. You literally pull up and dont have to exit your vehicle. John my service advisor kept me informed on my vehicles issues and he worked with my extended warranty company to get my needed repair completed.
Since moving back to Birmingham the team at Royal Volkswagen has bent over backwards to continue my warranty service. They are very transparent with updates about my car when its in for service, and during an extended warranty fix provided me with an excellent loaner car to keep me on the road. Great people, and I enjoy doing business with them.

My car had a warranty issue that was very uncommon. The service team was very helpful and accommodating. The repair was going to take several weeks, so they provided me with a loaner vehicleand kept me up to date on the repair process. We have always been very happy with the service department at Royal, and this time has been no exception.

Worst service I have ever experienced. Took my car in to be looked at due to the service light being on. After being looked at, was told it would cost $1200 to fix. I cannot afford to pay that at the moment so I decided to take my car. Kate refused to give me my keys unless I paid a $125 “diagnostic” fee. we Have just moved to Birmingham and my volkswagen dealer back home does not charge this (and if they do charge ANYTHING, they let me know beforehand). I did not consent to this nor was I even informed that there would be a fee for looking at my car (or that it was that expensive at that). Will not be coming back.
The entire team but Volkswagen service, particularly Will, were absolutely great to me. Each went out of their way to assist and finding the problems with my car and then finding solutions. They were also happy to work with me on my budget to find solutions that would work and that I could afford. Each went out of the way to be of assistance to me. Kind, understanding and efficient. What a great experience! We traveled four hours to pickup our 3500 GMC Denali. Mark Elliott was very helpful and supportive. The young lady who finalized our paperwork was efficient and thorough. Our business insurance company made a mistake with our vin number. She caught the mistake, and we were able to call the insurance company and correct the number before leaving the dealership. We highly recommend Royal Automotive of Birmingham. It was well worth the four hour dive. We love our truck.
I had an oil change, replacing a fuse, a couple lightbulbs and three recalls one which involved replacing the fuel rails, all which they did in 6 hours. Given that just the fuel rails alone normally take 4-6 hours, I have to say I am impressed with how quick they were and was also happy to see that they offered a shuttle service if I did not want to stay at the dealership. Will happily return to in the future.
This was my second time to schedule the same job the first time the mechanic had been out sick and was behind on his work, so we reschedule for the next week. My appointment was for 8 am, I got there at 7:30 am they finally finished the kids at 1:30 pm. I know that my car was not worked on for 6 hours. If you make an appointment the shop should be ready to fix your car in a reasonable amount of time. This is not only time this has happened. I scheduled an oil change and it took 3&1/2 hours. Why scheduled an appointment if you have to wait so long to get the job done. The only positive thing I have to say about the service at VW place is there service lady at the counter named Kate was very nice and helpful, what happened in the shop was not her fault.Joe Ballard
Was absolutely the easiest and painless vehicle purchase Ive made. I have bought over 15 brand new cars from dealers all over the country from being in the military. No matter where I am at in the country I will return to Royal for my next purchase. Price was great, salesman answered all questions honestly and was prompt. I live 3 hours from the dealership, they had everything ready and waiting on me when I arrived. I was there less 1 hour and back on the road. So far, this has been painless and the best experience in a long time. The sales representative even met me half way from Dauphin Island to get everything done before the end of the year. Also, the dealer doc fees are the lowest you will find. Most were anywhere from $350 to over $1,000. Royal was $75. A great dealership
Moved to the Ham 6 months ago and needed my Buick serviced and starter checked. I was surprised they don’t have appointments, but it went very smoothly. I made sure to arrive when they opened and Ralph Daniels was my Service Advisor. He was really nice and explained everything and arranged the shuttle to take me home. He called abc updated me on what they found with my started and quoted a fair price. Everything was easy and he was nice and kept me updated. And I felt the rates were fair. Very pleasant experience!

I cant say enough about Royal GMC and Buick. I purchased a new vehicle there on Feb 24th and I have to say in my 73 years it was the least stressful deal I have ever made. I had two figures in mind for the deal to work, one for my trade in and another for the new car. Both were matched instantly without me even saying a word. It was like they could read my mind. I was only in the VW dealership for a recall and that went fine. My disappointment we the lack of correct mask wearing by staff. While most customers in the waiting room wore mask the employees did not. Salesmen and parts dept employees had no mask and are in close proximity to the area where customers must wait. I will avoid this situation and advise those at risk to do the same.
