I had called here and spoke with the owner the first time around. He seems knowledgeable and inviting. After explaining my issue he said he would get back with me with some answers. He did call but didnt leave a message. I tried to call him right back, no answer. I left a VM. It was never returned, I tried to call back again after a few days, left a VM, again never returned. I went with another mechanic. Sadly though based on other reviews the reliability and communication of this place seems to be lacking.

Good guys who are great at what they do at a reasonable rate, best in town in my opinion. Some want an arm and a leg, this place will not do that and service was so quick. In good hands here for sure.

Nervous mechanics always smoking cigarettes. The place is outdated and dumpy also filled with just garbage. My car always smells like a cigarette when I go in it after service was performed. Just stay away! Sketchy business. Robert W Janas is sketchy also.

I always get great service Rob knows cars and will give you the fairest price there is . Its nice to know if your not a car buff there is somebody that wont take advantage of that. VERY HAPPY CUSTOMER:)

Was having exhaust issues, every place I called wanted to charge me just to diagnose the issue. Budget Auto had me bring in my vehicle and told me the issue without charging me, they then immediately called to see how much parts were going to be and also gave me the option of ordering the parts myself because they would be less expensive. They told me what parts to order and quoted me a price for labor. I ordered them and brought my vehicle back in once the parts arrived and they fixed the issue and charged me exactly what they quoted me for labor which was very reasonable. Would highly recommend Budget Auto.

Rob does a nice job. His prices are great. Hes usually buried in work. Nice guy.

Told me he would order my parts and after a week he said they werent in. After two weeks he told me he didnt know he was supposed to order them. He said he would check and call me back in 15 minutes and never called back. To diagnose it initially he told my fiance to come down and he did. Then he said he wasnt ready to come back in an hour and he did that 3 times just to diagnose. I dont have 3 months to wait on somebody to get basic work done.

I want to put a more aggressive exhaust on my 2016 Dodge Charger. These guys did a phenomenal job, were very cool about everything and listened. They didnt try to upsell or anything. I will keep coming back, they are the best!!!

Ive been very satisfied with these guys. They get you in as quick as they can, are inexpensive and figure out a fix, even if its a non-traditional fix.

I had a timing belt start going out on my vehicle, now I dont know enough about engines to not ruin one in the process of a more complicated repair like this, so I started calling around. Being new to the Wausau area I called 8 different places and the owner of Budget Auto Repair & Performance was the only one who told me I could get it done cheaper if I bought the parts myself and just paid for the labor, so as to avoid the markup on parts costs through mechanics. Parts included, he came out to almost $100 cheaper than the lowest estimate, an average of $200-300 cheaper than his competition, and a whopping $980 cheaper than the highest estimate I received. Additionally, he also discovered the source of a knocking noise in my engine and informed my wife of what it was and the cost for the parts when we picked it up in case if we decided to have it permanently repaired in the future; simply putting in a temporary support band around the part to conceal the sound being caused by the separate issue for the time being. Finding honest mechanics is something that can be an issue, but the guy here is one of them and has certainly ensured my familys business in the future.

This place is terrible! Its not cheap! Save yourself! They are backyard mechanics who think they can work on your car. They smoke like crazy because their so nervous about getting your car fixed right. Pass on this business! The owner has attitude like come in and shut the damn door, its cold outside!
