Chris was fantastic, he let me take a Prius to Kool for a pre-purchase check. Chris repaired or replaced everything Kool found except for new tires and was really great to work with. Did not feel at all pressured or scammed. One of the least stressful car purchases I’ve ever made. Car is fantastic & we hope to drive it for years! The only suggestion would be for Chris to update and use his Facebook page or create a website. Just from the Craigslist post I had no idea what kind of dealership I was going to and was a little worried it was going to be sketchy. Plus I want to recommend him to friends but there’s no way to know what he has available. Otherwise, 10/10 recommend!

Very disappointing experience with Chris Thompson at Horizon Motors. He advertised a Toyota Prius as in great shape with no warning lights on the dash. While speaking to him about the vehicle, he confirmed it had not been looked at by a mechanic, so I told him we wanted to do so and that it was going to cost me around $180. First thing the mechanic told me is that an engine light code had been cleared. They said Chris provided them the code number when he dropped off the vehicle so they roughly knew what the issue was. Potentially costly fix. No way to repair until engine light comes back on... Why mislead a buyer by saying everything looked great and no lights on the dash when there had been? There were also a number of minor issues (turning signal lights burned out, etc) that would have been easy to fix and werent that gave the impression that the car was being flipped as is from the auction where it was purchased rather than from a reputable dealership. I was not willing to negotiate after being mislead and allowed to effectively throw away $180. Buyer beware!

You will not find a better car buying experience in Grand Rapids. Chris at Horizon is an expert, and most importantly he is trustworthy and a pleasure to work with. I had a horrible experience. Chris is very hard to get ahold of and when you do he is very pushy. Normally I would completely walk away from a car salesman like him but I really liked the car. I was told that there was nothing wrong with the car but decided to have it inspected prior to purchasing it. Wow am I glad I did. The mechanic gave me a 2 page list of repairs that needed to be done! When I went back to discuss what I found out, Chris told me to take it or leave it. He then proceeded to explain how he could sell it to someone else who wouldn’t take the time to find out the issues it had! I was astonished at what I heard. I took my business elsewhere and I would advise anyone reading this to do the same.

I was hoping to leave a great review as Chris at Horizon Motors seemed very professional while still being very friendly. I found a listing of theirs on Craigslist, I was very interested and got an email back right away. We had set up an appointment for Friday 5/31 for me to purchase a car from them, I had full payment ready. I was just informed that the car sold. I was under the impression that the dealer was holding the car for me, otherwise the appointment we set would have no value. I was not able to make an appointment sooner due to their extremely limited hours. Overall very unimpressed and would not recommend buying from this establishment.
