Ive been dying to try their ice cream, finally today for the first time the line wasnt bad at all. The space is small with very few seats inside (about 4 bar stools) but probably because of COVID no indoor seating. However there are plenty of seats outside the shop. The service was quick and the cashier was very patient with us. We had 4 kids under the age of 6 that kept on changing their orders. Everything we chose was good and the price was good. For those who dont like ice cream or would like something warmer as the weather is starting to get chilly, they serve coffee as well.
The ice cream Is really great and fast is really good. The drawback of it is a long line before you can buy them. And whenever you get such long queue the cone in the shape of fish is hot. This was a bit hassle as we had to make sure that we are eating fast so that the ice cream doesn’t start dripping.
I honestly thought this was going to be one of those overrated foodie places people just go to for aesthetics however the ice cream and cone were actually incredible and very yummy. I ordered the #1 and ice cream was sweet and creamy and the cone itself was soft and tasted like a pancake. Will definitely be back. I can understand now why there is always a line out the door in the afternoons! If you want to avoid the line go earlier in the day around lunchtime/ when they open! They require masks inside and only allow two people in at a time since the storefront is pretty small.
Fancy icecream which I thought people would be going just for aesthetics and to try something new but the flavors and the custard filled fish shape waffle cone was indeed good and very different. Weekends are a bit busy and waits are like 20-30min long but to try something diff it’s worth. Parking is a problem around this area unless you want to pay $15-20.
I bought a matcha and a unicorn ice cream for my granddaughters and of course they loved it. Theyve been to this place before. The only problem i had is the ice cream were melting really fast. They could not finish it so we had to get rid of half of the ice creams. I dont know if i want to pay $25 for ice cream you cant finish if its melts right away. But, other than that the flavors were great.
🍦🍦🍦🍦YUMMY ICE CREAM ALERT🍦🍦🍦🍦So excited to get to try @taiyakinyc ice cream. Got into the store around 10:11 pm and the store closes at 10:30 pm. People were still getting ice cream when I got there!!! It was on my food agenda for today and I would have been really sad if I didn’t get to try it!!It was delicious!! Loved the unique flavors. We ordered the Beach Please, Straight Outta Japan, and Unicorn Taiyaki!!!!I really liked the matcha flavored ice cream. The ice cream melts super fast because of the taiyaki (fish cone) so eat it quick.Definitely get their taiyaki. They are made fresh and still warm when you get it.Check it out!!! You will love it!!!
Mind-blowing Icecream!!!Its textured like a soft serve but extremely creamy and flavorful. The fish cone comes with custard. I loved the ice-cream but I did not like the cone. My friends loved both. We tried the chocolate, straight outta Japan and a Strawberry sorbet. I have already been here twice in a week. Cannot wait to go back!!
I got in line about 9:45 on a Sunday and I was worried I wouldnt be able to make it inside due to the length of the line. I had my order in hand by about 10:03p. I got the #1 Classic. It was yummy. It was like eating ice cream with a cone the consistency of a waffle. The custard filling was so-so I could have done without it, but it wasnt bad.
We fell into the Instagram moment of this place. There is a line outside pretty much all the time. We ordered 2 cones. The price is high for what you get and the ice cream was just OK - nothing special but the presentation is what attracts so many people to this place. The fish shaped cones are more cake than traditional American cones and there is a blob of Japanese custard taiyaki in the bottom of the cone that looks like chocolate but isn’t - a bit of an acquired taste. Maybe a return trip for the fluffy pancakes in the future but will save my money on the ice cream. Good to know: expect to wait but the line moves semi fast, the inside is small so prepare to stand outside (umbrella is raining), take your Instagram pics quick if it is warm out - the ice cream melts so quick, parking is really tough in this area, they take Apple Pay.
I feel like overall this place lives up to the Instagram hype it has tagging along with the name and product. 90% of the store was closed off and they were only allowing two people inside at a time so we ate outside. The waffle part is to die for. It’s so good. The ice cream is good soft service and I will agree it does melt very very quick so get napkins. Pricey, but worth it at least once.
IG:@daysoffwithrayIts good! The waffle with the custard omgg!! This hits harder especially when the brain freeze kicks in. Ita not my fault I cant control my self. Im a fiend for taiyaki. *Side note it melts fast cuz of the wariness of the waffle and also it was hot outside.*Parking is a bytch, but it probs wont faze you if you college kid coming from mission hill. You probs gunna uber or train it.
Very sweet ice cream, good on a hot day. The taiyaki is just a bit crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Fun to build your own: I got the mango ice cream with red bean filling and coconut flakes.Line may look long at times, but moves pretty quick.Melts fast, so consider finishing in the lovely courtyard space before continuing your Seaport adventures.
The ice cream is very cute and catches peoples attention however it did not taste very good. I ordered a mango ice cream with condensed milk and colorful sprinkles. I never got the cond. milk and the sprinkles were hard, not my favorite. The cone was yummy. The ice cream melts very quickly and its a big mess! The staff was not in her very good day probably. I believe the place has potential but there is a lot that can be improved.
The matcha flavor is really delicious and has a great thick texture. Unfortunately the chocolate or vanilla flavors are very mundane and not worth the price, my kids didnt like the unicorn ice cream with vanilla, and they didnt even wave to finish it!We got the green tea matcha flavored soft serve in the soft bread cone with custard. Its great! I kept taking a bite after bite because its just such an enjoyable flavor. The only issue is the price and the size. For $7.99 I expected more ice cream than what I was given.Careful holding your cone! If you get the soft bread fish cone and you hold/squeeze it too hard, your ENTIRE ice cream will pop right out! It happened to the child in front of us.
It was so much hyped on instagram. So I needed to try. And it was worth it. My kids loved it. Ice cream is like soft serve ice cream . Taste was yum. Presentation: full on instagram worth! 💯Due to covid there was a big line outside of the shop. Always carry one extra layer because its always cold near seaport.
Taiyaki NYC is an absolute delight. The ice cream and Taiyaki are indulgent and delicious. The souffle pancakes are also worth a trip if you can get there during the magic brunch window. Theyre slow going in the morning, best to get there after noon but before 2pm. Any wait is worth it.
You know how you read a great review, you get there and find a line, you wonder, is it really that good? YES! It is so good, the cone alone is worth the trip. The ice cream was cold and creamy and flavorful. You get your choice of several toppings. It is not cheap but go ahead and treat yourself this one time .
A twist on ice cream. Had a chocolate with red bean paste. Tasted good, but melted really fast. Not sure if it was the recipe or the blistering heat outside!!Ice cream comes in a fish shaped cone; the frozen treat goes in the mouth of the fish. The fish cone was attractive but not tasty; not at all crispy, but soft and chewy.
Kind of overrated. Ice cream is alright. Melts really fast. Cones are cute and taste good. Sprinkles fall off right away because of the melting.
No line on a weekend autumn afternoon. Good, but not much chewiness to the taiyaki. Really crispy. I think its overpriced but their matcha soft serve flavor is good. They have souffle pancakes between 11 am-2 pm on weekends.
Found this place while scrolling through Tiktok, and made a bit of a note to visit during my vacation. The line was a bit long around 9pm, but getting my ice cream was quicker than I anticipated! I have the Beach Please and Everything From Japan, and my only complaint was that there wasnt as much red bean paste in the taiyaki as I was hoping, but all in all the desert was great~
This is some of the best ice cream I have had ever. Not to mention the cups are so cute! Overall such an amazing experience and I would recommend everyone to go here.
My family and I ended up here because of my terrible navigation and it was so worth it! My aunt is vegan and the vegan ice cream was a little sweet until you reached the cone. The cone is spongy and amazing! It tastes like a mix between waffles and cake! I would definitely come again!
How I wish I read more of these reviews before visiting Taiyaki! What a disappointing experience we had...Today was unpleasantly chilly for July 2 but we still decided to stop by at the recommendation of a friend. We purchased two pancake cones and two cups of beautifully decorated soft serve ice cream. Within seconds, after stepping out into the cool 59F air, our ice cream started to melt excessively. It dripped all over our hands, onto our jackets, our pants, our shoes, the ground... you name it. Ice cream soup was everywhere. You would have thought that it was 95F outside.I had to wipe my hands on the concrete planter we were sitting on just to get enough of the ice cream off before I felt comfortable fishing for the wad of napkins in my pocket. My wife ran into the store to get an extra cup in order to flip her cone into it, but it was already too late. The ice cream couldnt be saved. Fortunately we found towelettes to wipe our children down. After eating what I estimate was about $7 of our $27 order, we had to throw the rest away. Maybe this will give us 5 star laughs when we reminisce on the experience in the future, but for now it is a 1 star review only because Google doesnt allow for 0.I recommend checking your machines condenser for proper function, or make sure you have a full charge of refrigerant...or give your customers Tyvek suits to eat their ice cream in.
This place was spectacular. Their fish cones were so soft and they were super delicious. I would 100% be back!
This place is a joke for customer service. I wanted souffle pancakes, came after work one day after 3pm. Was told they only serve pancakes from 12-2 pm. Ok, it says this NOWHERE on the website, but ok. So I figured on my day off I would drive in and be here between 12-2. I live 1 hour away btw I get here, find a parking space, and now they say oh we only serve them on Sat and Sun from 11am-2 pm. I had tried calling before I came to make sure, and phone was off the hook. Again, NOWHERE on the website or online menu does it state this. No 3rd chance for this place!! Ridiculous!!!!!
Ridiculously good ice cream with a crazy long line because of it. Customer service was great though. Well worth the wait and line.
My first impression of Taiyaki was with the staff. They were super polite and quite honestly did remind me a little bit of being in Japan. The small venue smells delicious due to them baking their own famous fish-shaped waffle cones. There are not too many flavors, but I think the main attraction is the cones and the ice cream is of good quality. There are also a lot of fun toppings. The only downside is that since the cones may be warm, the ice cream will melt quite fast, so be prepared with napkins.
I wanted to try this at NYC but didnt get chance. Glad I found it here. Really tasty just need to stay in line for a while because its too popular 😂
A very unique experience to having ice cream. Must try. Especially the taiyaki come with red bean inside.
Absolutely delicious. The line is 100% worth the wait - dont be intimidated, it goes pretty quickly and youll get your order almost immediately after you pay.
SO good. Although the line outside was a 30-40 min wait on a sunny day it was 100% worth it. Its super cute inside and there is seating outside and the flavors were very well matched. I got a #4 and i was worried there wouldnt be much red bean inside the cone but i was very wrong (pleasantly surprised). Super fast and nice service too.
Latest ice cream joint in seaport district. Its off the main road and has decent road side parking. It can get very busy during the evening hours. They server ice cream on a waffle shaped as a fish! It looks amazing and tastes pretty good too. Ice cream flavors are limited to 5-6 and are pretty good. The do offer beverages of Matcha ... Pricing is decent and service is pretty quick. Seating though is very limited but there is a very good outside seating place thats perfect when weather is good
This place offers unique Asian sweets called taiyaki (carp-shaped baked goods stuffed with red bean paste). Using taiyaki shaped cones, tea flavored ice cream is served with some toppings. I visit this place whenever Im in Boston. Besides bubble tea, this is one of my fave snacks. I recommend this place if you havent tried one yet.
Novelty place. Soft serve ice cream in a warm waffle. Good, but not anything amazing.
This place is a bit over-rated. The lines are always massive and youll end up waiting about 30 minutes for mediocre ice cream. The product looks good and I think most people wait in line just to snap photos for their social media. Thats not really my thing so I wont be returning.
This was a wonderful treat. We loved everything about this place and as we continue our stay here in Boston, we will definitely be back. If you are even thinking about it, just go!!!!
Good ice cream mean staff. Last Saturday night 7/17.. my mother and I met up with friends, laughing and taking pictures with the 6 foot bear on display. This led to us being told to leave and threatened to be BANNED? WARNING IF ATTENDING .. DO NOT LAUGH NOR TAKE PICTURES WITH THE BEAR!!!
Been there with my flat mates a couple of days ago. I’d have to say that I expected a bigger store and when we got dropped off by our Uber I did have a look of disappointment. But that wasn’t to be. The immensely popular outlet had a massive queue and I was sure that there’s more to this place than it seems like. Couldn’t try the pancakes because those are only made in the first half of the day. I made my own Taiyaki and it turned out to be absolutely delicious. I’d advice visiting at least once just for the uniqueness factor.
I cant even being to describe how much I love this place!!!! The staff is always so so friendly and the ice cream is FANTASTIC and beautifully decorated. On days they are busy they are always so efficient. I will come here again and again!!!! Definitely a stop if youre in Boston!!
Great ice cream in a nice area. Reasonable prices considering the location. Very friendly staff even though it was very busy and the wait was close to 2 hours in line due to the grand opening. The cone was still warm when I ate it and the ice cream was very high quality as well. Great idea for after dinner in the city. The taro root shake tasted faintly of a fruity cereal to me and was very refreshing. Overall very happy with my experience here and will be returning when I have the chance in the future when in Boston.
This is the coolest ice cream around. If you see a super long line coming out of this place, there is a reason why. This ice cream not only looks cool but also tastes great! Sure its something like $8 for an ice cream but if you try it, you will know it is worth it. This Ice Cream is so unique in Boston, it is worth it just to try it. Totally go anytime I get a chance. This fish cray.
Cheap, fast, delicious, beautiful. Their ice cream is fantastic.
Waited in line for an hour. Small space with lots of activity. You can watch the cones and unicorn ears and horns being made in front of you. Not impressed due to the fact that our cones were still warm when filled so the ce cream was melting fast creating a hole in the belly and to my childs dismay, quite a mess. They ice cream sure makes for good pictures.
Its ok, the ice cream too soft. The corn not crispy.
So I ended up going to the grand opening which was kinda crazy seeing how long the line was. But it’s not unexpected as a lot of people were waiting for the taiyaki ice cream to come to the Boston area as the one in NYC is very popular. The selection was very good as you have plenty of options to choose..from ice cream flavor to toppings & other extras. I ended up getting the straight from Japan & it was very good. The red bean paste was something I was not a fan of as I didn’t like that after taste to it but it does keep the taiyaki from leaking from the bottom. I also got the shake which was my least favorite as it was extreme sweet but I guess to each their own. Parking is absolutely a nightmare of course being in the seaport area, but that’s Boston. In the end it was a superb place to by for some ice cream the staff was friendly & very welcoming & the place was well maintained.
Super cute Ice cream place. Went on a weekday evening around 530pm. There were only 2 ppl in front of us so ordering happened quickly. Both my oldest son and I ordered the fish waffle with ice cream (mango for me and chocolate for my son. My youngest son got just a plain fish waffle with red bean filling. Ice cream melted quickly even though it was a bit cool outside. All in all the ice cream was refreshing and the waffle tasty. A bit pricy at $8 ($3 for just waffle) which would keep me from coming often but it was a nice experience. All the workers were nice and the space clean. Its on a little side courtyard in the seaport that is bit hard to miss if you dont know exactly where you are going.
Fantastic soft serve with custard and red bean added as an option to your fish shaped cone.
Its ok.. seems like people go here to take pictures of the food more than going here to eat the food. Cone tasted undercooked but I think thats the way its supposed to be. Over priced but thats to be expected in this area. Wouldnt go out of my way or wait in line for it but its not bad. Store is tiny with no seating. Service is not worth mentioning.
Great ice cream. A bit too pricey though. Also, be ready to stand in line
Fantastic!! I had the Matcha Better, and their matcha is delicious. Smooth, thick ice cream served in a perfect swirl. The fish cones are amazing! Very fluffy and thick; rich and sweet. And the red bean at the bottom of the cone to finish it all off. Absolutely spectacular; 10/10 ice cream experience.
Wow, this is delicious! 🤯
Great! The combination of ice cream and taiyaki is delicious! The taiyaki is crunchy and the ice cream is cold and sweet. Definitely recommend. Just be sure to eat it before the ice cream melts!
Really good and crowded, but the line moved quickly.
Just wonderful food and a cute little place. Love to see them keeping on keeping on through the pandemic, and I wish them well as tourists start to come back to town!
My son and his friends came here and told me about it, I thought it was a steak place but actually they have some of the best ice cream in town. Delicious chocolate sundaes!
Great taste, quick service!
Taiyaki is always a go to when it comes to japanese desserts. Nothing can be the culture of japanese desserts. The way is always not bad or long goes by pretty quick. The only bad thing is there’s never parking in seaport. I love matcha and if you do too you should definitely try horchata with it. I just wish the new workers there were a little brighter. 😕
In line for 30 minutes on Sunday at 4pm, fish cone isnt not crunchy this time. Someone had it before the fish cone was crunchy. It isnt worth 30 minutes wait.
I dont get it. $8 for an ice cream cone that looks fun posted to social media. Maybe its the slimmed down covid menu that completely lacks flavor, but Id take a McDonalds soft serve cone over this.
Delicious soft serve ice cream. Unique flavor combinations.
My issue with Taiyaki wasnt the taste of their ice cream, nor was it their prices. It was the experience of waiting in a long line outside on a hot weekend, only to have my ice cream melt into a soup in less than a minute. I dont know if this happened to be on a day when their freezer wasnt working properly or if this is a common occurrence, but I was very disappointed with my ice cream soup, which wasnt very enjoyable. (Btw I got my ice cream in a cup, not in a taiyaki)
When we went to taiyaki (pre Covid19) the wait was very long with the line nearly out the door with the employees not able to keep up with the amount of people. The actual ice cream was yummy and the cone was soft and tasty.Overall, it felt like a one and done experience.
Great Ice Cream. Melts fast! Lol
