A feast for the eyes! And they serve food, too?So let’s get the basics out of the way: the food is five stars plus. From seafood to pasta to desserts, from the familiar to the more exotic, every dish is superb. Service is exquisite. But the star of the show is the decor and the ambiance to which it contributes. La Griglia is a complete dining experience.
Was very disappointed - we went on a Tuesday evening as a celebration. The ambience is great but the service was severely lacking throughout the whole service. It took about 10 minutes for anyone to come over after we were seated; for our salads we asked for fresh cracked pepper (the table next to us had the pepper service brought out with their salads) - our waiter picked up the pepper shaker and moved it over next to us and told us “here is your pepper.” The food was overall mediocre, and the wine that was brought out for my meal is not the wine I ordered. Just very confused; it was not busy and seems the service should have been a lot better. Really put a damper on the evening. They did bring out an anniversary dessert - that gained a star back.
This restaurant is consistently a wonderful dining experience. The food, cocktails, service is impeccable… The only thing that could be improved is the music is too loud in the background, making it a bit difficult to have conversation. It has not always been that way, but for the last couple of visits…DEFINITELY get any of the pasta dishes…. So good
Love this place. A few months ago I ordered the gnocchi and almost fainted at how perfect it was! Even the sauce was incredible. Did I mention they give you a pizza crust like bread as an appetizer? Yummy.
Oh my five gastronomic stars!! Service was prompt. The food was absolutely killer. I was first shocked at the idea their iced tap water was as clean tasting as the clear crisp aqua panna…. Started my meal with the scallops which were top notch. Perfectly to temp. The still crisp al dente vegetables in the risotto played nicely against the soft scallop; the herbed pesto drizzle around the outside edge just smoothed the whole thing out on the palette. The boar chop was without a doubt the star of the show. Crispy brown on the exterior, salty fatty layer underneath- and the double frenched chop was temperature perfect. The meat around the little ribs was so sweet and tender it quite actually melted in your mouth. Definitely carrying my lady back for dinner here.
Came on July 23rd 2021 and loved evreything about this place! The atmosphere was great, staff was attentive and kind and the food was delicious!! I got this pasta with mussels and crab and calamari that was soo good and their multi layered chocolate cake! Their cocktails are also very yummy! Ian was my server and he was great and helped recommend dishes when I wasn’t sure what to choose!
Great Italian restaurant. The food is wonderful, portions are large and staff are very professional and friendly. It is our go to for Italian food. The atmosphere is very interesting and the outside patios make for a wonderful dining experience. They have great desserts and the complementary cookies and pizza strips are a wonderful unexpected treat! You can go casual or dressed for special occasions .
Gluten-free friendly!Love this place. Go on a regular. Their pasta bolognese is off the menu and is my fave.
Everything was very delicious. The frutti de mare pasta was fantastic. I love that they give strips of their delicious pizza as their complimentary bread. The cucumber basil gimlet is my new favorite. Friendly staff, the hostesses are beautiful and sweet and everyone is very knowledgeable. Great dining experience!! Highly recommend.
Delicious food and excellent service. Lunch is great prices are not bad and their portions are big. We didnt have enough space for dessert but they gave us a little tray of Italian cookies and sweets anyways. Such a wonderful experience. We did have to dine in doors but tables are spread apart well. Wait staff wears masks. Plenty of parking at lunch but they do have valet for dinner service when it gets busy.
1st time coming, but will definitely be coming back. The servers were very informative and loved that they were so attentive. The food is great. I especially loved the peppered tuna. Also try the mango sorbet its phenomenal!
Amazing date night/special occasion spot! My partner and I love coming here for the pasta, wine, and great service. One of our absolute favorite restaurants in Houston. The food is always amazing and enough for left overs the next day.
Stopped here on a rainy day before going to see a movie at the River Oaks Movie Theatre. Good choice. Parked our car in front of the theatre (lucky us!) and walked over with umbrellas up. Sat up at the bar. Our bartender/server was Craig and he was great. Very, very hospitable and even reminded us at the end of our snacks that La Griglia is a Landrys restaurant, so we were able to get our points because of him. (I still always think this restaurant is owned by the Vallone family. Dates me, huh?)I had the bowl of the tomato and basil soup (hot and yummy) that I shared with my husband and he had the grilled marinated calamari (they make them fried, but Craig said they can sautee them). Both were excellent.Oh, remember, they serve you beforehand this magnificent basket of bread and pizza slices. I just love the soft, warm long breadsticks they serve in this basket. But, be careful. You can fill up on this basket alone, especially if you are by yourself.
Excellent venue for indoor, outdoor and banquet seating. New heaters on patio enable comfortable dining on cool evenings. Craft cocktails are top notch, we enjoyed the vodka basil Martini with signature pizza and salads. Watchout for the desserts, you need to leave room for them especially the chocolate cake. Very clean restaurant that complies with COVID-19 policies.
Well served. Enjoyed every moment.
Unfortunately this place has gone downhill. We ate at the bar at 1:30 pm on a Wednesday, just as the lunch crowd was leaving. The service was terrible. Server got the order wrong. No bread basket. When we asked for it to nibble on as we drank our wine and waited for our appetizer, the bread was very stale. The wrong appetizer arrived. Our main course took 45 minutes to arrive. To add insult to injury the server charged us for more expensive wine than we had ordered.A terrible dining experience from a restaurant we have loved and where extraordinary service has been the hallmark. Never again.
The eclectic, warm artistry of their interior is just right for a comfortable diner w friends or romantic night out w ur person. Haven’t been here n years and forgot just how special their old world Italian really is. They have one of the best selections of Italian wines n town and lots to enjoy them with. My veal piccata was easily one of the best I’ve ever had, even when compared to my favorite shops n Boston and NY. It’s thicker than most and that’s all right by me. I enjoyed the bisque w the caprese but wished for a bite from some balsamic vinegar that was lacking for my taste...the service was attentive but not oppressive. I’ll not wait so long to get back. PS - key lime was delicious.
Everything was Excellent waiters were extremely polite and very helpful on our first time I thank you
La Griglia is one of my favorite Italian places in Houston. The service is always impeccable. We had a birthday party here and they were very accommodating with our guests.
GREAT FOOD BEST ITALIAN I EVER HAD 😁 my pasta was so delicious everything was perfect from the sauce made with the freshest ingredients and my chicken breaded perfect the seafood soup was excellent salmon dish with shrimp was great the waiters were attentive manager polite valet was great music made us much more comfortable the art work is beautiful this place is my new Italian spot MUST GO TO spot right by our spa relaxing outside fountains too
Great lunch menu at Great prices. My veal and spinach stuff canneloni was delicious.
Excellent wait staff. Everyone is extremely friendly and attentive. Clean and kept environment. Food was good but not great. Pasta didnt hold the depth of flavor I was expecting from the presentation.
Its impossible not to love this place! Quality and service is 10/10. My husband and I went to celebrate our wedding anniversary and loved it! The shrimp and crab cheesecake was our favorite.
Their mushroom lasagna is delicious! Very rich and so full of flavor! My absolute favorite dish here. My second favorite is the Margherita pizza!
I am so impressed with their customer service and the food was outstanding. I ordered delivery through a third party and an item was missing. The manager apologized and personally ordered us another pizza through his own Uber eats account to make sure we got it. In addition, he sent a couple of desserts along. What outstanding service. We will be coming back time and time again, and recommend that you do too. We tried the Boyd, Forest Mushroom lasagna and pagila e Fieno along with the tomato basil soup and it was all devoured. Yum.
Very nice restaurant, I love the atmosphere both inside and outside... But its the second time that my mushrooms lasagna comes way too salty...
Food very good, meat portions fairly small. Appetizer ridiculously small for the price. Nice Patio, shaded with fans a bit pricey for lunch
Beat spot to go been open 2 generations love it. Keep it up
Good breads and salad. Nice atmosphere.
Excellent food in a great ambiance. Lunch menu is affordable and diverse.
Amazing happy hour, amazing dinner and great atmosphere! Will definitely be back.
Wanna spend four hours in the bar enjoying great happy hour food and drinks? Go to La Griglia. Beautiful decor will greet you as you walk in the door and you will continue to be embraced with unique art fixtures throughout the space. Fun, sexy atmosphere, & good drinks. Our waiter was a little ‘seasoned’ so we had to repeat drink and food orders but he was a sweetheart so we let it slide. It’s a political hot spot so prepare to see a Councilmember or two.
Personal favorite. You cant go wrong, but the mussels are 🤌🏾.
Hey honestly the food is mediocre. Given so many positive reviews we had much higher expectations. Also the environment was a little overwhelming, not the ideal evening meal for a pair of peace seeking food connoisseurs :/. Not worth the price. Everyone was super nice though!
Great service...above and beyond. Place is elegant and groovy at the same time. Love the food ... starting with an awesome salad, then mixed seafood tortellini- amazing and ending with a chocolate pie which was delicious! First time and wont be my last.
An extraordinay italian restaurant in Houston, if you are looking for real italian cooking not adapted.... This is the place
Excellent service at the bar! Juan Pablo is awesome! Well definitely be back😁
We had such a nice time there, the staff were so warm and welcoming, and the food and service terrific!
The dinner was exquisite! I ordered the red fish special, with shrimp and spinach. Delicious
Great spot for a dinner date or celebration. I took my lady here for a dinner date a few days before thanksgiving since were were spending it separately with our families. The food is amazing. The atmosphere is even better. The service is fine dining level. I honestly have no complaints. I had the lamb chops which weren’t on the menu but the server recommended. Flawless. My lady had the mushroom lasagna and it had a surprising yet wonderful flavor profile. The wine selection is broad and the tiramisu is on point. It is a little pricey, but this is one of those places you make a reservation and plan to spend $100+ for a nice dinner date.
Veg ravioli was really delicious. The staff was courteous. Ambience of the place is very nice. Their ravioli is must try.
Restaurant was beautifully decorated. Service was def lacking. We didnt get asked about appetizers or food for about an hour. Drink order was taken 30 min after sitting down and didnt arrive for another 10 min. We were a party of 8 and it felt like they put us in the back burner since they would automatically get 20%. As the night died down and ppl left (it was a busy Saturday) we got appropriate service, but by that time we were already almost done. We had the byod pizza it was fantastic. We also had the wild boar..I felt the meat was not up to par but the sauce and sides were good. My friends had the salmon (she loved it) and the duck lavender (he rated it 8/10). Someone got the seafood pasta and they said it was ok. I will probably go again with the hubs just the two of us to give the service another try. They split our checks graciously at the end and provided cake service since we brought our own cake for the b day girl.
Late lunch by the fountain….Perfect. Excellent food and service.
Great food, service and atmosphere at a decent price.
The atmosphere here is one of the best in Houston, one of my favorite places.
Fun beautiful place with excellent service
Great atmosphere and the wait staff is very attentive. The food was delicious. The salad and pizza bread are my faves!!!
Had lat dinner with a party of 8, everyone liked their food except the 2 people that ordered the wild boar. It wasnt that busy and service was slow from the beginning to get our waters, through our drinks and food, as well as to refill waters.Would still go again.
Love this place, my favorite local:) staff are so attentive, professional; food is excellent; HH apps, etc.. can’t rate this spot highly enough!
I ordered take out from la griglia last night. There were 3 things that bothered me about my experience.1. I opened the bread and there was a black hair on top of the pizza (I am blonde). I understand that these things happen but thinking about sanitary precautions now more than ever with COVID it ruined the whole meal for me.2. I asked for all white bread because we don’t eat the other kind. They gave me 2 pieces of white bread with all of the other bread.3. They are now charging a service fee for Togo’s...but never mention that policy anywhere. I was already planning on tipping 20% but I didn’t know if that was supposed to be in place of a tip or what.Overall a disappointing when I am usually a fan of this restaurant.
Amazing food, atmosphere, and staff!
We had our rehearsal dinner at La Griglia and had a wonderful time! The food was excellent and everyone who attended had a great time! We did the miniature meatballs, miniature crab cakes with remoulade sauce, oven roasted tomato with goat cheese crostinis, and mini bruscetta classico and passed pizza slices of the roasted chicken pizza and wild mushroom pizza to start. The dinner menu consisted of a grotto salad or lobster bisque, grilled salmon or roasted chicken or veal, and key lime pie for dessert. Everything was perfect, and the service was top notch. I would definitely recommend La Griglia for any event, as well as just coming here for lunch or dinner (which I have done a few times :) ). Thank you!
Most aggressively mediocre Italian food I have ever had.
Went for lunch. Had salmon. It was amazing how they paired it with Asian mushroom. It was very flavorful. For desert I had crème brulee, which was pretty on the outside and sweet on the inside. Waiter was very professional. It was a very good dining experience.
Attentive staff, nice event room.
We had a birthday celebration that was made up of 10 people and they accommodated us perfectly. The food was terrific, the wine was spot on but it was the wait staff that capped it all off and made it a 5 star evening.Cannot go wrong with anything on the menu but pay special attention to those items that have been on the menu for 29 years, taste and you will see why they have been there so long.
Server, Henry is the best, we had a fundraiser here and the servers were excellent
Best tomato basil soup
Hey Tilman! Nice kitchen and place to chill! But I’m ready to see some of the staff’s smile..As a customer i want to see the staff without masks!!! Have some balls and lead the way! It’s time
Cool art deco, great service & fantastic food!
Wow, still a great little gem of an Italian restaurant that keeps doing things right
Amazing experience! It was my wifes birthday and even though we came late we were treated like royalty . Fernando is a very sincere gentleman and made us feel so welcome and at home. We felt like the whole place was ours . Very delicious food and exceptional service.
Good food and good service
Awesome atmosphere, great food, and amazing service!
Always a great experience. Just a gem. Consistently great.
I love the lighting fixtures and I love the cheese that they use on their Pizza. Both are the real deal.LaGriglua has long been one of the standards of what exceptional dining is in Houston. They never disappoint and theres always the opportunity to try something new but I always go back to this the cheese on their pizza is sensational
Came here for lunch. This is a terrific restaurant. My fish was cooked perfectly. Flavors on point. The décor is spectacular but not visually distracting. The wait staff is friendly and just the right amount of attentiveness. Beautiful atrium in central dining hall. Upscale clientele but I was in jeans and sneakers. Seems like a great power lunch/date place. There is valet.
The food was excellent. The waiters were wonderful. I cant wait to go back.
My friends and I enjoyed happy hour followed by a delectable dinner. I had the Braised Short Rib dinner which was delicious, fall off the bone, tender and melt in your mouth not to mention the wonderful mushroom risotto. My other friends had the Paglia e Fieno consisting of homemade spinach and egg fettuccine with grilled chicken, pancetta, peas, mushrooms and parmigiana-reggiana (I tasted and will definitely order next time). Our other friend order the Frutti di Mare and she loved it! The Strawberry Shortcake and Tiramisu were out of this world.
All I can say is WOW. The ambiance set the tone for a lovely dining experience with friends. The food was perfect and the service was impeccable. I will definitely be back soon!
The place has good food and I enjoy the atmosphere, but the last time I went I ordered a silver tequila with club soda and a lemon. What I received was an aged tequila with a lime. I would never ruin a nice añejo tequila with club soda.. I am a veteran bartender so I usually just order something neat or on the rocks to avoid a bad drink situation, but I hoped that by being at a nice restaurant that it wouldnt be an issue. My friend ordered an old fashioned with a nice rye and the drink had an obscene amount of simple syrup and was served in a really large glass that was then filled to the top with club soda. That is not an old fashioned. My friend is also a veteran bartender and he barely touched his drink...
Waiter could of been more attentive. Food delicious, pizza so good... the restaurant is very nice & the tables as well ... location not bad, parking is valet, that’s if you’re OK with a stranger driving your car touching your steering wheel with his dirty hands...
A special place for special occasions or somewhere to let the world melt away, you decide.
Good food. Great service. Nice decor.
Awesome food, awesome service
Excellent food and atmosphere. Went for a business lunch and received great service from every employee. Reasonable lunch specials for the quality of restaurant.
Great place for happy hour with girlfriends. The service is fantastic and appetizers are just the right size. I especially live the atmosphere at Christmas time!
Food seriously lacks flavor, wine per glass $18 was a little expensive, ordered brick oven chicken with sauteed mushrooms that didnt come with a starch was an incomplete meal in my opinion. However, the ambience, waiters were very attentive.
Had a lovely dinner on the patio....so we felt safer than dining indoors! Our waiter, Steve, was awesome. Our meals were amazing. All waitstaff were wearing their masks.
Great service & food as always.
Great atmosphere and food 😍
Very nice atmosphere! I love the decor, but more importantly... they make a proper Old Fashioned!! We had a great time celebrating my cousins anniversary.
