I went in for a second opinion after a previous shop I went to told me I needed over $1,000 worth of repairs done. I had a check engine light and a bad vibration. Turns out I just needed my tires balanced and Adam went over the check engine light with me throughly and made sure I was comfortable and understood what was happening with my car. Absolutely wonderful service I will definitely use them for everything in the future. Adam definitely knew what he was talking about and knew how to make sure I understood what he was saying and answered every question I had. After everything was all said and done I ended up only spending $200 so thank you to everyone at Pope Davis for the wonderful help!

I took my 2006 avalance1500 to fix my engine light issue I was told it was my 214-2149 evap vent solenoid aap come to find out that wasnt the problem they changed me 371.46 but didnt solve my problem I took it back one week later and was told its something else that was the problem. Dont trust them with what they tell you. They will take your money but wont solve your problem.one star I wont trust them again and will tell friends and family about my lose of 371.46 to this company

Straightforward pricing, friendly people, and excellent communication. Lets be honest, a five-star rating for a garage does not mean this is Disney World. You wont spend your week looking forward to going to Pope Davis on the weekend. But when you need someone to tell you straight up the facts, and to follow through to do what they say they will do, this place does it. Not only do they give you a printout of your service, they email it to you, and they make it available to you online along with past service and service on other vehicles. You may get this sort of technology in some ridiculously priced dealerships, but to be able to manage all your vehicles and the vehicle service in one place is amazing!I have had three cars service here, some more routine then others. I was also able to shop online for a set of new tires, and they put them on in good time and at the price that I found them for on the web. No surprises, no excuses, and excellent tires.

Great group of people. They were courteous and professional when I walked in. They acknowledged me right away. The guys at the counter were quick and asked what I needed to get done. They werent pushy about their other services. I was in and out in under an hour for a oil change and tire rotation. Im a woman, and I was alone that day, I felt perfectly safe. They werent trying to swindle me into buying all these extra services like they do at the dealerships. All in all a really good experience.

A change in my old tire place led me to try out Pope Davis.. since Ive heard so much about them. I was not disappointed. Professional work, Friendly Service, all the cliches that you hear about but never appreciate to you receive them. The suggested set of tires was absolutely what I was looking for and the fact that they did a four wheel tire, alignment, brake and rotor job in the same day, ahead of schedule really impressed me.

Repaired my flat tire for free and had it done in great time. They were a little hard to get on the line initially, but Justin at the front was very kind and courteous.

Vincent, the manager was very accommodating and Blue did an excellent job getting the nail out of my tire. I was so grateful to Blue for getting me on my way safely.

Took four mounted tires on wheels and requested that they remove the tires from the wheels. I did not ask how much it would cost, but when I went to pick up the wheels, I was told the cost would be $120.00. I was informed when I dropped them off that it would take about 20 minutes to remove the worn out tires from the wheels and they would not charge me to dispose of the tires that were worn out. I have mounted 100s of tires and know what is involved in removing a tire from the wheel and $30.00 a wheel is quick and easy, especially when I delivered them, they did not have to jack a car up or remove the wheels. Twenty minutes at $120.00 is quite excessive!!!! Will never do business with them again !!!

They were supposed to fix a noisy wheel bearing. They “fixed” the wrong side, gave me a BS story about a bad spindle and “frozen” tie rod ends. Long story short, I will never go back. They should have owned the mistake, everyone makes them, and I would have worked with them. End of the day I paid $189 and waited all day to find out that it is the passenger side that needs repair. Find someone else to fix your car. Terrible.

Tried to simply get air in the tires cause it was visible and the icon kept flashing and the tire worker sitting there goes “yeaa someone will be with you shortly” and more people come out, DONT EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE I’m there and keep on working as if I’m invisible. I was willing to be nice, thank them for the service, offer some cash even! That’s definitely not how to be treated when you need a service done like that in an emergency so stay away from this place, and just know when you need help they won’t help you.

I schedule a time to have all my tires changed and right off the bat I have to give them all the info they supposedly set my account up with the day before. Like why did we go through that whole deal just to not have you save any of it? I get to my apt on time and there is no room in the bay to get me started immediately. Ok whatever. And then the tire guy shows up late. Overall not a huge deal but when you’re spending over 6-700 dollars...you just hope that people are more on top of it. Ya know?

Was driving home from vacation and picked up a screw in our tire. Was more than happy when we were told that there was no charge to fix it, even though we were from out of town and had never done any previous business with them. The true meaning of customer service!

I dread dealing with anything automotive related esp since my boyfriend is overseas. I dont know a lot about cars and I dont pretend to and others in my situation may find themselves taken advantage of by some mechanic shops. However, I used to deal with Pope Davis years ago and since they were always honest and did a great job in the past, I decided to try them again once I moved back to this side of town. I have used them twice in the last couple of months and BOTH times they were very honest, upfront, and took great care of my car. They had an opportunity to overcharge me TWICE because others said I needed certain services completed on my car, when in fact I did not. Im not sure how they compare to other shops as far as price because I will only take my car to them now. Even if they are a little more expensive it is worth it to me to pay more for the integrity that I have witnessed first hand. Im sorry to hear that others had such bad experiences but Im very pleased and I trust them to charge me fairly and accurately. Furthermore, I highly recommend them! If I had any complaints, it would be the wait BUT I understand the dynamics of a mechanic shop so I just drop my car off and make other plans for my day. Easy enough!

I was in their own time and they took the vehicle straight in and got it out in a very timely manner. They gave me a workstation so I could use my computer and finish some work while I waited. I had to get the fuel pump fixed on my truck. So i called these guys up they gave me a quote that was pretty close to what i had to pay. They did a good on replacing the fuel pump and pointed out a few other things that needed some attention. But overall they do a good job and keep you posted on when your vehicle will be ready.

Theyre very qualified they run a pretty tight ship and on weekends I almost want to say theyre short-staffed but they just they werent they didnt seem that busy

Is it good practice to put tires on a car when the tire was manufactured over a year ago? Out of four of my tires, 2 were less than a year old, one was slightly over a year old and one was 1.5 years old. Since my Toyota manual recommends not having tires on the vehicle over 6 years old, Ive already lost 1.5 years! I called and they said the warranty will extend from the manufacture date. Rubber tires start aging as soon as they are manufactured and currently there is no law stating that Pope-Davis cant do this. I just dont think it is a good business practice and they should only install tires less than one year old!

My wife was the original person to go here. It was obvious that they take advantage of women and men who seem not to know much about tires. My wife was meticulous on the maintenance of her tires because she was majorly overcharged $900.00 for a complete set of Goodyear tires. Goodyear are good tires but not worth the money Pope Davis charged. Within months one of the tires got a slow leak.I told her to go by Pope Davis for a road Hazard. They plugged it at least they said they did, I couldnt find where they plugged and I know plugging. It took her 2 or more times of plugging and they still got it wrong. Finally I decided to go in place of my wife, this time it’s held. Dont do business with Pope Davis they cheat all people that arent mechanically knowledgeable.

Its a good place to get your car fixed youre very honest

Took my mini van in because door would stay closed. They said it would be 1800 to fix. Van isnt worth that. Asked them to just make the door close. They did about a day later. A week later door came open again. I started to repair it and found they cut wires without informing me. Their diagnosis was all wrong. They did reconnect the wires. But van still is having problems. Should have gone to the dealer for diagnosis. They hacked my van and I had to pay for it. They owe me my money back.Stay away from them completely!

I called to get a price on a set of tires. The sales rep I spoke with asked if he could get the tire type and size I looking for and he would give me a call back. The tires I was inquiring about cost around 1200 -1400 dollars a set. I never received a call back. Maybe this sell was not large enough to deserve a return call.

Their labor rates are not too high. The technicians are good. The quality of the work performed is high. I have a considerable amount of work done and have no complaints.

Purely unethical. Charged me for a brake job, made me wait 2.5hours and two weeks later I realized they did not perform any service.Took my 08 Silverado in to get new brakes pads installed in the front. I bought the pads from advanced auto parts because I am very picky about what type of pads I use. They made me wait 2.5 hours just to switch my front pads and turn my front rotors. Charged me $119.00 for the service EVEN WHEN I BROUGHT THE PADS TO THEM. And Two weeks later on my way to work I hear metal on metal when I hit the brakes. Checked it myself and realized they never changed out the pads. Its one thing to over charge someone but its just messed up to charge someone for a service and not preform it.I have already filed a report against them. I wouldnt even tell my worst enemy to to go get their car serviced here.

Bought tires from here a little while back. Since then I have taken the car in because of tire issues. Shaking and noise. The Problem is still there and I cannot see where anything was done to correct it. The tire shaking was not there until after I purchased the tires. I do not reccomend this place for tires . Now I will have to pay someone elese to fix the problem.

So, this wont be your typical one star review full of expletives and and rants targeting the personal character of those involved. Rather, I would like to tell my story complete with what they did well and what they did not so well, and why they still got a low score of one star.My car did at Starbucks. Wouldnt start. I tried to the best of my limited know how and could not bring about a solution. I called a tow through insurance and then came the dilemma. The body shop we had been using for year had just been sold to a larger company and they were solely doing tires now. So, in comes the feeling of helplessness as I ponder the hundreds of google results trying to sort through my best option. Then my wife calls and Pope Davis- Irmo was recommended by my father-in-law. Ok. Lets do that.My car is towed in at 10am and by noon or so I reached out to see that they had my car and if they had a chance to check it out yet. After the second call I got someone who indeed told me that she had all the info and would be in touch shortly. So far, so good.Next I get a call 10 minutes before they close saying that they need to replace my battery terminals before they can even test the starting system. I tell the lady that I had replaced the battery terminals with heavy duty ones about a year previous. She gets a little attitude-y and says ok I will ask so and so and give you a call right back. That was it for that night. No call back. Ok, perhaps they got busy as they were closing?Next morning she calls to say that Mr. so and so in the back replaced a battery terminal and my car was ready. I realize that I never gave them permission to do that, but at least its not the alternator or starter, so I am relieved.I get in there and the total is $36 or something similar. Little steep I tell myself, but remember that alternators and starters are much more. I am willing to leave at this point and make my way to my car. I then thought I should perhaps check out the new terminal before I leave. I go to pop the hood and the pull tab has been broken off my car. By that I mean since I saw it last. I go back in and the manager tells me that Mr. so and so in the back says it was like that when it came in. Hmmmm. I call the tow company and he assures me that they have no reason to pop the hood and they simply towed it to them. I go back in and tell them my findings. Then she changes her story and says that she personally inspects every car that comes in and she personally noticed the broken hood pull herself.Puzzled, I ask if it was her or Mr. so and so in the back who noticed it. Clearly unsure about how to proceed, she says that my options are twofold: 1) take my car and go OR 2)she can take the new battery terminal off of my car and my car will once again be stranded (not kidding). Seeing that my best option is to get to work reasonable on time, I chose option 1 and began on my way to work.Before I left, however, I go the owners name and number. I called him on the way and it went to voicemail. I tell him about my situation expecting at the least a call back to say why he is choosing to back his manager and at the best a call to say that they will refund the money for the fix (and broken hood pull?). Yet, nothing.Honestly, that is what prompted me to write this review. If someone who owns a business cant take the time to call me back when I feel I have been wronged, they dont deserve my business. Indeed, the owner will read this and like the Southwest Air CEO once confidently quipped, we will miss you. Still, perhaps you, the average Joe or Jane in search of a new repair shop will be reading reviews (on a rainy day because isnt that what we all do for fun?) and think twice about using these guys. I know I would.On the other hand, perhaps it was the tow company who broke my latch. Not sure and I will never know. But absolutely...someone could have called me back to explain just what happened, dont you think? All in all, just my two cents and its worth just about that.

Weve been taking our cars here for years and always felt like we got quality honest service. The last two times this one included we felt we were being ripped off. Turns out we were. I was quoted an insane price and for a service I did not need. Two other places quoted me half the price and flat out told me they were selling me on an unnecessary service and more than needed. Very sad.

Took my truck in for balancing & rotation of tires. After 45 minutes, they called and said that they didnt have correct tools to remove lugnuts from my truck (I have aftermarket rims) and, hence, theyd have to order socket & reschedule. Although I appreciate that they didnt perform the work since they didnt want to risk damaging my rims, I find it odd that they didnt have the tools to do the work. To me, this is a shortcoming of management / ownership.This was not the first time that Ive had problems with Pope Davis Irmo. About 2 years ago, I took my truck in for balancing & rotation of tires. The advisor who took the order actually backed his truck into mine (parked) by accident, causing my front bumper to be dented - Ownership said that advisors insurance responsible, and I settled with advisor without getting insurance involved. Additionally, when I got home, I noticed a couple of my lugnut caps (caps, not lugnut) were missing, so I had to replace them - Perhaps because they didnt have the correct tools to do the work?Needless to say, I wont be going back to Pope Davis.

My visit was on a Saturday. They were not busy at all. The lady who greeted me was friendly. The services I needed for my car were a wheel alignment and tire balancing. I specifically requested that the steering wheel be recentered. At the completion of services, at check out, I was not given a printout of the results of the alignment check, which was the whole purpose for getting the alignment. I was told that the machine didnt print out an analysis prior to the alignment. The one printout I was given was supposedly after the alignment was performed. I had no way of knowing whether my car was in alignment prior to the service or not. And, of course, now Ill never know. The steering wheel was not recentered as requested. As for the balancing, the tires were worse than before the balancing was done. So I ended up taking my vehicle to Discount Tire, and they balanced the tires. Then I took the vehicle to Honda of Columbia and had the alignment checked again. Alas, it was out of alignment. So it appears that an alignment was not actually performed at Pope Davis Tire. I wasted $120. I will not be going back to Pope Davis Tire.

Recently had new tires put on and a front end alignment. When I got my car back they werent balanced and I had to go back. Then I noticed the car did not feel aligned at all. I was all over the road, so I took it back and they told me I just needed two more new tires but that the alignment was fine (I did need the tires.) I had those tires put on and the alignment still didnt feel right. I finally took it to Clarks Auto downtown on Sumter and Elmwood. I was right, the front end was bowed out and not aligned straight at all. Clarks will be my new go to, and Im pretty disappointed that Pope Davis didnt get the balance or alignment right considering thats what they do daily.

Second free rotation service was good. Only problem was they notified me I was missing lugnut on tire. The only time tires were off previously was by Pope Davis at 5,000 mile rotation so it must not have been tightened right the first time was not pleased.

So, I go in to the local Pope Davis (Irmo) to have them replace a stem on an old farm trailer tire. The salesman tells me that DOT will not let him fix the tire as the law requires a new tire after 5 years. Having had farm trailer tires fixed at Nuttalls with no questions asked, ever, I knew he was lying to me.I left, went to Nuttalls, again, with no charge and no questions asked, I got my tire fixed. I even asked them about the law and they said there was no such law...Ill never go back to Pope Davis for anything again- because of this lie I wasted half a day....

I am generally a very fair judge of service and understand that not everyone is perfect. However Pope Davis told me I needed new tires and I had just purchased new tires a year ago. They also flushed my transmission fluid and made a mistake while doing it. My bill was $600 and my car broke down in an Irmo parking lot the next day because my transmission locked up. Stay away. Only reason I tried them is because I had a $50 gift card. Ill always go to Irmo Tire from now on.
