Key Whitman is Plano is great. The staff are friendly and fast, very thorough. I was really scared for lack of a better word, but now I understand what is happening to my eyes and how they will fix the problem. I cant wait to see out of both eyes again. They are giving me my independence back. I would encourage anyone who is losing their sight to go see them. I cant wait for the next step in my treatment.

I went in for an eye exam here because I thought I was being examined by an ophthalmologist. Instead, I got an regular optometrist. Fine, I got the examination which took two appointments cause they couldnt get it done in one and was told that my prescription hadnt changed. I realized that I was never given the actual prescription. I have called and emailed to get the prescription so that I could order contact lenses. No response from these requests. The voice mail goes to some sort of generic mail box. I would think for my $150 payment, that the company would actually take the time to respond to requests like these.

Worst eye examination I have ever experienced. When I called to make my appointment I gave my insurance information and wasnt told there would be an issue. When I went in for my appointment they asked for my insurance cards and was still not informed there was in issue. It wasnt until I got to the exam room that the assistant who was performing my exam told me that they didnt accept my vision insurance and would have to bill my regular health insurance. If I would have known this when I first called to schedule I would have went to another center who actually accepted my vision insurance. But I was already there and needed contacts so I decided to continue with the exam, terrible mistake. The assistant who was performing my exam was new and still in training, which is no issue I understand that. The problem was that her trainer came in when I was selecting which lens was clearer. On my left eye I stated that the second option was better and her trainer said not to do that one but go with the first option because the goal was 20/20 vision. This didnt make sense to me because it was blurry, but this is not my field of work so I just said ok. However, now that I have these contacts my left eye vision is notably worse than before. It is very frustrating to have one eye that is fine and one that is blurry, it causes me to squint which in turn causes tension headaches. I would not recommend this center to anyone and am very frustrated and upset that I spent money and time to be dissatisfied with my results.

The staff were professional but that’s it. I didn’t feel that the staff cared about me as a person, it felt more as —your the patient and were the staff. Also, when it came time to pay for my visit, the lady charged me for each procedure done instead of just billing me my copay and billing the insurance company for the procedures done during the visit. I called the insurance company and asked if that was what was suppose to happen and I was told no. United healthcare representative said what she did was charge me what they wanted for the procedure instead of what would be agreed upon between them and the doctors office. I felt taken advantage of and I will be fighting back on this issue.

After visiting five different eye surgeons I chose Dr. Haq with KWE to do my cataract surgeries. My decision to go here was based on several factors: 1. Dr. Haq was the only Dr in 5 offices to take the time to talk with me extensively and give me an honest opinion instead of only upselling lenses. He weighed the pros and cons and gave me his suggestions. 2. Staff, this was the only office where every staff person I encountered was pleasant and helpful. There didnt appear to be a lot of turn over or frustrated empoyees. 3. Wait times, they have their processes down and the wait was always minimal. I wish all my Doctor appts were that way. 4. Communication, every time they told me they would call, they did. When I called with a question I was promptly responded to and assisted. 5. My results are great! Im very happy with my outcome and how well I can now see. Id highly recommend this practice.

I knew that my eyesight had deteriorated, but I had no idea how bad it actually was. Within a few hours after the procedure, I was able to see things clearly. On the day after the procedure, I went for my first post-op visit. My vision was 20/20. The clarity of everything in my field of vision was amazing, and colors were so vibrant I thought we had a new TV.Dr. Haq and everyone else I dealt with at Key-Whitman were competent and caring at every stage of the process. The professionals at Key-Whitman are making an enormous difference in the lives of so many people. Very poor service. They had only one ophthalmologist and several tens of customers. It took them one hour to call me in after I arrived at their office. Dr. Razis visit did not last even 5 minutes and she was in rush to be done with me and go to see other patients already in other rooms. Although I told them that I had scheduled an annual eye exam in a week, they went ahead and charged me $55 extra for the refraction that I would have not approved for. I went to their office with an eye condition and apparently could not wear contacts, but they knowingly pushed for refraction without contact fitting.

The tech that did my refraction, which is when they put your eyes against the machine and change lenses to figure out your prescription, was rude and very abrupt. I asked her about why my right eye has been twitching? She immediately said I can’t discuss that cause you are here for eye exam. And I said but I am discussing issue with my eye. She very abruptly said we can’t discuss anything because your insurance would have to switch from eye to medical. I was dumbfounded that a medical staff member had no courtesy to be respectful of a patient!!!! I don’t know This female tech’s name as I didn’t catch it because I was so emotionally stricken by her attitude but remember she has a mountain tattoo on her right arm. The Doctors are especially personable, thorough and fantastic in both bedside manner and treatment with outstanding success! FIVE STARS! .... HOWEVER, the accounting, insurance processing and financial office people cannot be trusted, NO STARS. They say one thing, agree to one payment process, but then blame insurance companies after giving assurances that the procedure is accepted, authorized, approved and covered by insurance.... until you get a surprise $3000 bill in the mail saying that the insurance coverage, tho approved, and paid, is denied and withdrawn, leaving me to pay what I told them from the beginning that I could not afford. I made it clear that if it wasnt paid by insurance, I could not afford to have my eye operation. For this reason it was rescheduled twice before I actually got assured insurance approval that later proved to be a false assurance. I WAS ASSURED THAT IT WAS APPROVED AND WOULD BE PAID BY INSURANCE.Be careful because apparently even tho KW says that the they have called the insurance company and gotten written assured insurance approval, the insurance company can do a take back AFTER THEY HAD APPROVED AND PAID THE CLAIM!!!!MAKES YOU WONDER IF YOU CAN TRUST THAT KW HAD THE APPROVAL OR WHETHER THE FINANCIAL SIDE JUST WANTS TO MAKE THE SALE AND BOOK THE REVENUE.i know of no insurance companies that pay for surgery and then want the money back after the surgery is completed, leaving the insured stuck with the whole bill! I paid the deductible and all the premiums in advance.

Completely unprofessional to not be advised that the patient will have to pay for ALL services out of pocket at the time of service after being seen by the doctor instead of being billed. The front desk staff should advise prior that the patient may potentially have to pay for the office visit, and any add one, not walk out to a charge of over $300 and be expected to pay at that moment. That just isnt good business, especially in this current economic climate. Also, I wasnt provided an itemized breakdown of charges like every other doctors office Ive ever been to in my life, and when I called back for it, they emailed me the form the staff member jotted down some figures to add up the charges...smh.

For the same procedures I paid my optometrist less than 1/8th the cost last year and that was under VSP.They dilated my eyes and I thought I should have been notified of that intention so I would not have to drive after or at least offer me those cheap film sunglasses. OK, so the first time I went in, I was to see Dr Razi, but she never showed. I was tested by technicians, not an optometrist or doctor. I saw Dr. Haq for about 5 minutes. They said I needed cataract surgery. I wasnt sure if I wanted the monovison or to be corrected in both eyes for distance. They gave me contacts to simulate monovision. I could not wear them at all because I could not see anything. So I waited on doing the surgery. When I went in again to see about the surgery, I again was tested by technicians, no OD or MD. Dr. Razi OD came in at the end of the testing and was upset with me for not being able to decide on monovision. She claimed that I was there 3 times, but it was only two. I asked again about the contacts to see if I could try them again. Razi said no. She said that I have cloudy vision in both eyes and contacts would not tell me anything. Whatever. So I decided to go ahead and get the cataract surgery in one eye. Never saw Dr Haq again although he was the surgeon. I had to have someone drive me there (location in Dallas). Although there is plenty of seating, they would not allow my driver to wait in the waiting area. And she could not leave the parking lot! So she had to wait in her car. The place was like a factory. They prepped me in about 5 minutes. During the surgery I had pain. That is not supposed to happen. Then afterward, they dont give you anytime to recover from the surgery. It is stand up and leave right away. A woman had to walk me out to my car! I was still under the anesthesia. I went back to see the doctor for a follow up. Again Dr Razi at the end of testing by a tech. She seemed irritated when I told her of my experience and when she checked out my eyes she barked at me to look up/down/left/right. I have had it with her. I have yet to see Dr Haq. Not a good experience.

Good staff expensive medication.I saw Dr. Jacob for Conjunctivitis. She was really good and helpful. However she prescribed eye drops that are $250. The nurse gave me a coupon that brought the cost down to $40 but still too expensive in my opinion. There are no generics for this medicine. I find it hard to believe that a cheaper generic medicine does not exist in the market for such a common disease.Edit: The pharmacist told me that the there are cheaper drugs available but then I would have to call the doctor and get a new prescription. To the response about 84% reduction, I would say that I am not sure why the price was not $1000, the reduction would would be 96% then :). Like everything in health care list prices are some ridiculous number that you given deep discounts on to somehow make you feel that you got a good deal.

Key Whitman Eye Centre -- Plano, Texas is always able to provide quick service upon my scheduled appointment. All the medical personnel are very knowledgeable and able to explain their procedures so that you are fully aware of the purpose of various tests and Dr. Haq is always able to provide details of any procedure and explain what the expected results should be and which seem to be spot on -- at least for me.I would easily recommend any of the Doctors at Key Whitman Eye Centre for any type of eye and vision needs.
