Pretty good experience. I went through my bank and got my loan instead of going through them. When they pulled my credit report the car I previously bought from a different dealership was not on there. I just paid it off as well. Which I didnt understand that part but my bank gave us the loan and we got the car we wanted. Walter Ho was great.
Appointment is very on time, once arrived, they have someone greet and direct you. Tag, invoice, and adviser are soon then assigned, unlike the other Honda Deal in town, I would need to wait for my turn even appointment was made. Oil change pricing is higher though.
I would not recommend Tony Honda and more specifically the salesman Wes. Wes came off as aggressive and rude. I had to question him multiple times to tell me who I was getting financing with and what my interest rate was. He finally told me “my best rate was 4.5% ” which was absolutely not my best rate, I ask if that’s the best offer and he gets aggressive again trying to tell me that’s a good rate and I should feel lucky to get it. So I go to usaa.com and get approved for the loan in literally less than 5 minutes with a rate of 2.5%. Then magically the finance guy comes through with 2.25%. I guess Tony Honda didn’t want to miss out on selling the loan. Bottom line Tony Honda is shady and will not be upfront with telling you your best financing option. Tony Honda and salesman Wes are trash.
First off, the staff here were nice and seemed patient while I was making a decision. However, I bought a used Mazda here but just felt like the customer care just goes out the window once you buy your car. They told me that the car passed their inspections and a little bit later I felt that my tires weren’t getting good traction especially when it was drizzling (can’t imagine what it would’ve been like in actual rain). I didn’t notice until I had to make sharper turns in the city where I live. I went to a Mazda dealership and after the mechanic lifted the car to check the tires, I saw that the interior of all the tires were really worn out. Not even a month after my purchase I have to buy a new set of tires. I asked what my options were to Tony Honda and they said “sorry there’s nothing we can do”. Just don’t purchase a car here without explicitly stating in the contract that you can return it for a refund after a fixed amount of time (I don’t trust their inspection)… you might be able to find a problem with it and save yourself the money and hassle. Im pretty frustrated cause of the tires.

Didn’t end up entering into the test drive / sales process, but really appreciated that a sales rep meets you at the gate to enquire after goals of the visit.Been to too many car dealers where you have to wander around the lot, enter into the office, and hope that someone is visible or will acknowledge you. I have been reading through the reviews and I must say that my experience (purchasing a vehicle) at Tony Honda was the best experience and easiest transaction I have had out of 9 car purchases from a car dealership to date. The trade-in process was smooth and I was given a very fair value for my vehicle.I would recommend everyone work with Ed Dun as your sales associate. I was very undecided on exactly which vehicle I wanted to purchase but knew the features I wanted and the budget with which I had to work. Ed not only recommended all of the cars in my price range with the features that were important to me, he also searched for any available rebates or programs for which I could qualify that would bring the price down even more.Over the course of 2 weeks, I went to the dealership 5 times and had several phone conversations (2 over the holiday weekend and I did not even realize he was at home with his family until I asked if I could come in to the dealership again then he let me know that he was at home but, he wanted to make sure that I had the answers I needed so he was taking my calls and offering assistance from home).During the actual purchase of the vehicle, Ed Dun ensured my wife and I were comfortable, we understood all of the terms and conditions on the documents we were signing, and explained ALL of the features and capabilities of the vehicle. We felt like family and were never pressured or hassled. Ed even called us this morning to ensure we were happy and to make sure we did not have any issues or questions.We had a wonderful experience. Ed Dun, the Sales Manager, and the Finance Manager, were all very professional, friendly, and helpful. We will certainly be buying our next car from Ed. I have never purchased a car in any way, and he immediately made me feel at home and at ease with the decision I was making. He was very knowledgeable about the car, and was able to answer all my questions! He was such a positive influence that I hope to meet him again, whether it be at Tony Honda or the golf course.

I will also decrease the rating, if the damage is not repaired.]Tony Honda replaced my trunk handle. However, in the process, they 1) bent the adjacent exterior panel, 2) failed to replace the interior clips and other components, and 3) left pliers in my trunk, which rusted and stained my new all-weather liner.I described the first issue over the phone, explaining that the two interior clips were missing, and my service manager told me to bring it in. When I did, they did not have the parts in stock and I was told I’d need to come back in a few weeks. This illustrates Tony Honda’s disregard for their customers’ time.I brought the second issue to my service manager’s attention and he said they’d have to charge me to replace the bent panel since my car was old (2008). He explained that there was unexposed rust (he could not show me), which had required the repair tech to bend the metal panel.He said, “We did our best.” I disagree.

$700+ for normal service interval servicing?? Checked and verified 5yr old vehicle is no longer under any manufacturers warranties. Going elsewhere from now on unless Lex or someone else I go to cant touch a dealer only job.
I purchased my new FIT on March 17 and am very satisfied with it.Ms. Sue and Mr. Limu were excellent, they were fully understanding of my needs and provided the perfect proposal for me. In addition, they gave me a very polite and comprehensive explanation.In my previous 6 car buying experiences, this was the highest level of service I have ever encountered.If I ever have the opportunity to purchase a car, I will do so through them again.
The attention to my auto needs was constant along with the updates.They took my auto even though I came an hour early and started on it right away. I always get my auto back very quickly along with additional information as to the other systems in my car. The agent Sean was always jumping for his customers and never faltered in spite of his fast paced service to me or his other customers.

I spoke to Wade the day prior and he advised that I take it in to get it check out and comforted me that it would be covered by warranty. I have my car safety inspection appointment at 10am, paperwork were prepared. But I finished the check until 1:07pm, they told me that my car has nothing wrong. The people came after me were gone for a while . Is that normal for most of the people?
One of biggest reason I continue to purchase my cars from Tony Honda is the Service Department, in particular from Wade Szameitat, Service Manager. He continues to exceed my expectations whenever I take in my cars for service. He has outstanding customer service skills and makes me feel valued as a customer. A tremendous asset to your company and a major reason I referred several of my friends to purchase cars from Tony Honda.
Months later i need a new camshaft, lifters, and engine mounts. And This was diagnosed by another mechanic . Not Tony’s even when i took my car up there multiple times for them to inspect. told me nothing was wrong. 4500 down payment and now having to spend another 4500 on repairs. Ridiculous!Get your cars inspected before buying from them or anywhere on island.

I had the pleasure of working with Gunner. Gunner is a professional at what he does. Sells Honda vehicles & trucks; he knows his product very well.I purchased a Honda HRV and Gunner made sure I was totally oriented with how to use the vehicle, its safety features, assisted me with hooking up my phone to the vehicle computer. Disappointed in the service department. Brought my van in for the 5th time due to an issue with the sliding door that resulted from a recall they performed. This time fingers crossed it’s fixed, however upon picking up my van the back seats were covered in grease. It took over 30 minutes to get anyone on the phone to share my concerns. Finally reached the manager Mike Carter who did apologize and offered to have me bring it back in to be cleaned/detailed. Fine. Fast forward to the next morning. Brought it in, I get it they are busy in the mornings. I said I have an issue, I need to speak to assistant manager Josh. The check in guy just wrote Josh on my ticket. I went inside service advisor waved me over to empty desks and said he sits there. Went back outside and a nice attendant brings me back in to Josh’s desk. Josh is with a customer, I get it, I can wait. But service attendant lets him know I’m here and Josh dismissed him, tells him to go back out to the line. He’s frankly pretty rude. I was never acknowledged by josh. He was on hold on the phone. A simple I’ll be right with you would have done wonders. Finally my service advisor from the day before asks if I need help, josh tells him that’s Shanna. So he knew who I was and what the issue was. Mark came to look at my car, but never once apologized, acknowledged what happened or said anything about the inconvenience of having to bring it in for a second time. So the seats were cleaned. I didn’t expect more than that. But you know what would have been good customer service? Run my car through the car wash. Do something, anything that says hey we messed up, let us make it right.I really feel that Tony Honda just doesn’t care. They are so busy, and my issue was covered under warranty that they think I have no other choice but to come there. They don’t return messages, they text you reminders and say save this number and text directly with questions or concerns, but they never respond. No one called to say the part was in, I had to follow up. I may not have many choices in regards to warranty issues, but I won’t be buying another car from them. And for anyone that asks, they are definitely not recommended.

Disappointed. Asked 4 employees to help me understand the ACC function of my new car. Car was in for service. 1 employee was obviously inconvenienced and was downright rude. The other 3 said they would ask someone else, but never did. After 2 hours for oil change and tire rotation I left with no answers. Frustrating.
It was good, they picked up car and dropped it off when it was done. As easy as it gets.

My experience with Tony Honda, specifically the service department, has been consistantly outstanding each and every time I brought my car in for repair and service. Wade was always patient and honest with me. He kept me updated on my vehicle status and really took the time to dumb it down for me so I understood exactly what was happening. He also served as the liason between myself and Allstate which was a huge relief! His professionalism and expertise are greatly appreciated.
Daughter made an appointment over 2 weeks in advance for a recall service. Made arrangements for pickup so mom and I took off from work. Could have been a nice family day. Instead we drive in from town and are turned away saying that they dont do recall services on the weekends. You wasted our time. You need to make this right.
I started to wonder if anyone was interested in helping me after I walked around the showroom for 5 minutes. There were people standing around, not sure if they customers or sales clerks because they had no name tags. Some people looked like sales clerks because they were dressed in slackers and aloha shirts.
Wade always gives excellent customer service. He’s been so consistent over the years. He is one of the reasons why we stay loyal to Tony Honda in Waipio.
Updated: prices are to high for dealer repairs, but they do come with a warranty. Diagnostics are $170 up front which also seems a bit high. The sales, service folks, and technicians have nothing to do with the price I paid. For them, I have no complaint.

I had a very positive experience when I went into Tony Honda for a routine oil/filter service in mid-March. Unfortunately not even 2 weeks after that visit, my indicator light for low tire pressure appeared. After inflating the tire in question with air, the indicator light stayed on. I called the service department and to my dismay, the next available appointment wasnt until 4 days and that was a concern for me. So I called Sean Kikuchi, my Service Advisor, and explained my situation. Despite his busy schedule, Sean told me to drop by so that he could get a visual of the tires. Upon inspecting my tires, he found a screw lodged into one. Instead of waiting 4 days for my appointment, he was able to fit me in early the next day. Needless to say, Sean had my tire fixed within 35 minutes, the shortest wait ever. I am happy to have been serviced by Sean Kikuchi again and will never go to anyone else. For those of you who just became a part of the Tony Honda family, see Sean for all your service needs. You will not be disappointed! I hope with all these positive reviews, the Dealership will Reward him with compensation or something other. He deserves it! Thanks again, Sean!

I had a horrible experience here, wish I could tell you the name of the sales member, but he refused to give me a card or a name. I don’t appreciate being argued with by someone who doesn’t know what I owe on a vehicle, or a sales associate telling my wife she can’t afford to finance any vehicle on the lot. Truly says a lot about this dealer and the professionalism of its sales associates when a separate sales associate saw me asking for the name of the guy helping us who said he’s not giving me his name, just shrug and say he doesn’t have to tell you his name.I’d honestly go somewhere else rather than deal with their exceptional rudeness and lack of professionalism.
I purchased a 2021 CRV and my experience with Maria, Tracie, and Scott Matsuoka was nothing less than perfect. They were all friendly knowledgeable and professional. Sean Kikuchi at Tony Honda in Waipio is exemplary in his service to his clients. We have purchased our 5th Honda vehicle—3 Accords, 1 CRV, and recently a Civic EX-L. Of course, we will continue to depend on Sean to take care of our service needs of our vehicles.
Just purchased a vehicle last week and got no discounts from sales for military or even online. Additionally, I question the lack of integrity by their Finance Director Curtis. The paperwork was questionable and affected another personal situation. Upon declining options such as road hazard, extended warranty and etc i ran into more hassles. Those services were still submitted and appeared on the contract anyway and upon noticing it had to chase down Curtis to get it fixed in writing, which he said cant redo contract with it off and instead will need to have it adjusted on the loan. Cindy was the only helpful one who helped get Curtis. Bad service and questionable integrity.

Everything went smooth at the Dealership! Maria wasn’t there so got a sales guy Named Patrick. Patrick is a great guy! With his patience, honesty and integrity, hardworking energetic person which I value the most when I meet people especially in the work scene. He was also cool with my 2 boys! Patrick was not really pushy with the vehicles during the selling. Which I know how sales people are at dealerships. After looking at several color options, He showed us the vehicles I asked for online. Checked them out, which everything checked out good! Took it on a test drive by myself due to covid restrictions. That was nice coz it gives you 1-1 time with the vehicle all to yourself. I could write forever. Anyhow, From my perspective, the arrival, sales, negotiating, even finance, was smooth. No mind...long story.....After viewing a particular pre-owned car online that I really liked, I called Tony Honda to see if it was still available. I zeroed in on the one car because it was a brand and style that I was interested in, had all the features I wanted, the mileage was pretty low for the year and I loved the color. The free CarFax had no major issues reported. Of course the price advertised on the website was the clincher. Very good deal for what the car had to offer.The receptionist transferred me to sales and I spoke with Gunnar Hartner. He was very helpful and professional as I gave him the info on the car I was interested in and he said he would call me back in a few minutes after checking the availability. After a few minutes he sent me a text informing me that he could not find it in the system but since their auto lot was very big, he had to get in a car to drive around it to see if it was still there. About 10 minutes later he sent me a photo of the car and said it was available, already checked, cleaned and certified to go. He also confirmed the low price (which was not marked on the car itself) because they were having an Easter weekend sale and the price would go back up on Monday. The total sale price was discounted over $3000 less than the recommended price. I set up an appointment with Gunnar to come in that afternoon.Gunnar greeted me outside and showed me the car. It had some smaller damages on the driver side, like who ever was driving scraped up against a pole or something. Other than than the car was in pretty good condition. He explained that because it was a small damage, instead of fixing the issue and passing on the cost to the customer they left it as is. I was ok with it, only cosmetic, the guts of the car is what really matters and that was working good.I tested the car out by driving around the parking lot with my Dad. Due to legal and Covid reasons the sales person cannot ride with us in the car as a result you cannot leave the lot, he explained all of that to me and I totally understand. There is some legal paperwork and you have to give them your drivers license and proof of insurance before the test drive as well. The car handled easily and was everything that I expected. It also had some add-ons that a prior owner had installed which were a bonus.Gunnar took the car to be washed and to remove the special GPS that they attach to the cars to track them, we filled out the sales paperwork and he took me to Scott Matsuoka for the financial paperwork. I paid cash for it after Scott and I wrestled with my debit card to see how much my bank would allow me to charge to it, I tried to call them first but all departments were closed for Easter Sunday. It feels great to pay for a car up front and own it debt free.I recommend Tony Honda and would definitely come here again if I ever need to purchase another car.
I had just had the absolute WORST customer experience at Tony Honda (located Waipio, Hawaii). I had an appointment set for 9:15am; I arrived 30 minutes early to drop off my van for recall service. When I arrived, there was a line of cars coming out of their service lot. Nobody was there to direct where I was to leave my vehicle, so I parked it behind the line of cars. I exited the vehicle, and saw a line of more than a dozen customers out the door; again, nobody was there to direct where to check in. I went into the dealership and saw a dozen more customers waiting around, with...again, NOBODY to direct me where to check in. I stood around for 30 minutes waiting for SOMEONE to tell me what to do, or where to check in. I asked the other customers standing around, and EVERYONE was clueless. They just said theyre standing around waiting, too, and we were all talking about how disorganized and chaotic this was.At this point, there were probably 40-50 people standing around during a PANDEMIC. Nobody telling us what were doing or who to wait for. At this point, its past my appointment time, and I went up to a service advisor to ask him what I was supposed to do. He just said, Sorry, you need to wait for your turn, so I asked him how I was supposed to know if it was my turn if we are all just standing around with no direction/line...during a PANDEMIC. This is a serious health/safety concern that should be addressed.At this point, I was done waiting around in a group of people, so I told one of the workers Im leaving, and got in my van and drove off. This was another concern...Nobody even asked for ID or anything. They just let me get in the van and drive off; this was after one of them popped the hood and did a quick diagnosis on the van. How do these workers even know I was the owner? I could have been anyone.Like I said, this was the WORST customer service experience Ive ever gone through...Absolutely terrible, but to make it worse, this could potentially affect peoples health as they had a large group of people just gathered together during Covid. On top of that, they didnt even check to see if I was the owner of my vehicle when I decided to leave.
My wife and I have been loyal to Honda (Windward and Tony Honda) since 2002, as we have purchased five Hondas since then. We last purchased a used CRV from Tony Honda in 2017, and our sales rep was awesome (she is no longer working there, unfortunately). Well, my wife and I just went to try to purchase an Odyssey, and the sales rep Gunnar was rude, spoke over us constantly, didnt want to hear how I wanted either a 2021 or a 2022 (He was bent on selling us the 2021 so the company would get more 2022 vehicles from the mainland). He pressured us into looking at certain colors of the vehicle because it would look cleaner. (I had a dark blue Odyssey before, but he really tried to dissuade us from even looking at the navy blue one on the lot). Im sorry, but Im the customer, and I dont care about your opinion.In the showroom, he kept ignoring my inquiries and loved to hear his own voice (How else would I know where his daughter went to school, where his daughter lives on the mainland, how much her house cost and how large her yard was, and how close her house was located to a Honda car plant?) He spoke more than ten times as much as we did.I told him that we had been preapproved for a certain amount from our credit union, and he got very rude during the haggling process. I finally told him he was being rude, and he said Well what are you going to do if you dont buy a car here? Which dealership are you going to? Toyota? I told him that I didnt need to provide him with an itinerary of my day. Then he said What are you going to buy? Bus? I told him Excuse me? He backtracked and said that he meant was I going to buy a Ford Econoline van. What a lame attempt at trying to withdraw his verbal attack.At that point I demanded to speak to his manager, and he was very nervous about it, but I insisted. The manager was considerate and listened, and not only told me that what Gunnar did was inappropriate, but he was surprised that I didnt walk out a long time ago.Im not sure if I will ever purchase anything, even oil changes, from them again. I may need to drive all the way to Honda Windward like I used to. Their service wasnt perfect, either, but they have never treated me or my wife with such disrespect. I hope no other salesperson acts like Gunnar, who claims to have had over 30 years of working at Honda.
Tony Honda in Waipio, Hawaii is among the best Honda dealerships in the US. The treat you like Ohana!
Charged $160 just to read the codes and repeated what I told them when I scheduled the appt because I can connect a scanner to the car. Go somewhere else.

I got a brand new car that gave me issues from day 1. I took the car back because I was hearing a noise that I could only hear in the freeway. The Finance guy heard the noise and spoke to the service advisor Mark, but it was late so nothing could be done.Long story short, I am so disappointed at the customer service from this dealership. A month and a half later and the issue hasn’t been solved. I’m waiting on a call to let me know that the piece they need has arrived, but it’s been 2 weeks and nothing. I wish I could return the car.The whole point on getting a brand new car was to avoid issues and that’s the first thing I got!

This has to be the worst service department on the island! They quoted me an extraordinary amount to change the hybrid battery in our Honda after we purchased the battery from someone else. They also damaged the car while putting it back on the ground after an oil change. They are only after your money not about pleasing the customer. I was able to get the battery installed at another Honda service department on the island for a way lower price than these monkeys were trying to get out of me
