This was our first time having an eye exam here, and I must say I was thoroughly impressed. There were numerous tests performed on our eyes, more than Ive ever had done before. They took their time with each test, including explaining what each test did. We will definitely be returning for our exams here in the future.

I want to thank Dr Gelb for saving my sight, after a second Lasik procedure I was left blind unable to drive, work or take care of my 2 little babies. 4 different eye doctor specialists told me there was nothing that could be done. A friend recommended Dr Gelb, not only is he caring but hes a true diagnostic genius. He fit me with special contact lenses, that I was told I could not wear by other eye doctors. Not only was I able to see and go back to work but these miracle contact lenses reshaped my eye and cured my blindness. I no longer need the contacts and I can now see almost perfectly. I can now work, drive and take care of my children. Thank you Dr Gelb for restoring my sight.

Dr. Gelb is the best optometrist. He has recommended the CRT contacts ever since I was in elementary school. My eye sight is perfect. He uses evidence based medicine to answer all my questions and is exceptionally thorough. As a young practicing medicine doctor, I never met such a caring and compassionate optometrist. I’ve never written a review before, but I was so displeased with my experience I wanted to share so no one else had the same experience that I did. This office was recommended to me by a colleague. I read the reviews and I thought I’d give this place a shot since they accept my insurance and my coworker spoke so highly of the doctors.However, I felt that Dr. Gelb was condescending towards me. He made a lot of assumptions about my personal eye care and when I tried to explain to him he cut me off. He said “you should know this you’re a nurse,” and “I think I know what I’m talking about I’ve been doing this for years.” I wasn’t questioning his knowledge. I was just trying to tell him I would just prefer having monthly contacts over daily contacts. He spent a total of 5 minutes with me, granted that’s all he could do for my situation. Also he touched my eyes without gloves and I’m not sure if he washed his hands before. I think he’s knowledgeable but I did not get the same kind of care people described in their reviews.Only reason I’m giving 2 stars is because the staff was actually really sweet and friendly when I explained my experience. They kindly recommended another doctor for my follow up. I left the office very upset.

“I have been a patient at Contact Lens and Vision in Woodbridge NJ branch for more than 10 yrs; now and Ive always been impressed with their pleasant, yet professional atmosphere. Staff know what they’re doing and equipments are all updated and advance. One of the best part of the eye exam which is very comprehensive compare to other eye clinic that i’ve been to before is the Retinal Imaging which took a picture of the back of my eye. Dr. Gelb who examined had a better assessment not with my eyes but with my health as well. I highly recommend this office for all your eye exam and vision health needs.

I visited Dr. Gelb over a year ago after him being recommended by my general practitioner. Dr. Gelbs exam was very thorough and after running some test, he was able to inform me that I had very high inflammation in my body for somebody my age and that this could lead to some serious health problems down the line. But Dr. Gelb had a plan, he suggested that I make drastic diet and lifestyle change and after 18 months I was able to completely reverse the inflammation that was inside of me.

I recently Visited Dr. Gelbs office for a routine checkup and to get a new prescription for contacts.I was very pleased with my experience, the staff was very nice and Dr Gelb was very knowledgeable. I had previously had a chalazion and after explaining to the DR about my concerns and after taking a look he recommended i switch to daily contacts.I love my new contacts and find them more comfortable than my last pair i wore. I was referred to Dr Gelb by my internist, My vision has always been poor at night and my current eye doctor said he couldnt get me to see any better. My internist said try Dr Gelb hes very smart... Dr Gelb discovered I had keratoconus, he fit me with a contact lens made for my condition...Im thankful I can now drive at night...Dr Gelb is awesome!

I dont even know where to start with this place. When I made an appointment last year (vision and contact lenses) I was told that my insurance doesnt cover the contact exam (which I already know) but their prices are through the roof. They even charged $75 EXTRA on top of that for a Halloween lens fitting even though they dont even fit you with those lenses! I cant even stress how illegal this should be. I understand that there are guidelines and whatnot, but if Im purchasing Halloween lenses directly from you (at a 300% markup over market value, I might add) then I shouldnt have to pay extra for a fitting when there is no fitting involved. My latest issue with them... They REFUSED to write me out a copy of my prescription for my contact lenses even though my prescription was not yet expired....this is illegal BTW, eye doctors are required to give you a copy which is why I will be filing a complaint with the FTC. I wanted to order contact lenses online because they are significantly cheaper and they refuse to price match (unless youre buying a year supply. I am not a regular contact wearer so this would be a significant amount of money that I cannot afford and would not use) I also do not have the time to pick up their over-inflated contacts during their business hours. The woman at the desk suggested that I order from their online portal to have them shipped to my house. Given that my prescription was almost expired and I do not have the money for an exam, I agreed. She told me that she would create the account for me and add the contacts to my cart so all I have to do is check out. So thats what I did.... guess they put the wrong prescription in because what arrived to my house was the correct brand, but positive power instead of negative! Upon calling to tell them, I was told they would re-order the correct ones and I can come in and exchange them. That brings me back to my original dilemma. Not only did they screw up my order, but now I have to find time out of my busy work schedule to come and pick them up. If I could give them zero stars I would. I wish their support staff was better because I really liked the eye doctor that I saw.

Ive going to this location for many years and basically Id just go and get a check up on my eyes, probably up my prescription. All in all I always had a pleasant experience.But recently I went in curious to know about contacts. It was my first time ever going down that road and the doctor was great at explaining both the ups and the downs of contacts. He went as far as putting them in since it was my first time. (That was very interesting haha)What really made this a great experience was one of the employees whose name is Jiele. He instructed me on how to take them off and clean them. And let me tell you that was no small task. I spent almost ten minutes on each trying to take them out and then putting them back on took another 15 minutes each. He even told me to that it was important to put them on before putting on makeup. He was honestly great. I really appreciated his easy going manner and the fact that he didnt rush me AT ALL.Thanks to these guys Im really considering making the move to contacts.

For years I have been going to Contact Lens & Vision for my yearly eye exam. Let me say the doctors and staff there are wonderful. The doctors are very smart and personable, and honestly care for the well being of you (and your eyes). The staff has always been polite and professional. Have questions about your eye insurance? Dont worry about it - the staff here is very knowledgeable and will be able to help you get any insurance issues straightened out.A personal anecdote: Last year around this time while I was working out of state I injured my eye in a sports mishap. (tip: Always where eye protection while playing racquetball) I went to the ER, and also saw a local eye doctor about it. A few days later I had some general questions, so I called up Dr. Gelb. He wanted me to come in as soon as I could so that he could take a look - no because he thought I was in any eminent eye danger, but simply because he cared and wanted to make sure that everything was ok. He was able to see me in the next few days, and spotted a few things that the first eye doctor missed. He did a great job.I would definitely recommend Contact Lens & Vision Consultants!
