Upon entering Max Brenner, the aroma of chocolate is delightful and initiates the craving for sweets! Their specialty is chocolate and deserts so that is what I planned on experiencing. They did not disappoint. I personally am not into anything super fancy or anything, but i shared a very large pie shaped chocolate chip cookie that was everything a cookie should be. The presentation of everything ordered was amazing (again, i only ordered chocolate and deserts), and tasted very good! My favorite part was most certainly the drinks. Each drink ordered had a generous amount of alcohol, and could be treated as a dessert in itself.Aside from the food and drinks, the cleanness of the establishment could use a little more work. There is creative decorations within the building and the layout of the seating is pretty, but slightly crowded (even though it was nearly empty when I visited). The service was ok, a little need of improvement regarding customer service. Even sitting at the bar the customer service could have used a little more work. My party did feel slightly rushed (only in the establishment just under 30 minutes), and despite each menu item feeling somewhat overpriced, it was very nice experience overall. I did get a confused vibe of which crowd the owner is trying to attract, it feels very family friendly however the music genre and volume felt like they are advertising for the young party-go-errs. Great experience, and the location of the establishment is in a very touristy area!
Great service but the bar was slow so getting a drink took a while other than that this was a great place to eat and go into a chocolate coma. Next time wed may just go for the deserts they are that filling and delicious. The food looked just like their pictures. They take pride in what they do here. The manager came by our table 2 times during our meal to check on us. This is a must try.
I really wanted to love this place and I do think its good but it just cant get 5 stars....why? Well,It was down to the experience and that was down to the staff. We brought our 10 year old here for her birthday with her 12 year old sister. I had built up the restaurant and was so excited. We came in and the front of staff was great. Very warm and friendly. We were placed at a table on the outside of the inner circle and waited for our server- timeliness was not the issue. It was when she walked up, we were all excited about this unique restaurant, you could tell she just wanted to get through the day. So our excitement was slowly diminished as lunch went on with our drip of a waitress. The food was good but not incredible. It felt like you could get it anywhere - like The Friendly Toast. It didnt exceed expectations and I could have pushed this to a 5 had it been really good. But the food was just good not great and the staff was ok not good- so heres where we are. The cups for the hot Chocolate were great though and we bought 2 of those in the shop. Also, just a note, it was a birthday lunch and nothing was done to make my daughter feel special. I booked it and told the hostess. A birthday hot chocolate or a cupcake with a candle could have been nice, but maybe this is done on purpose to get you to do the dessert. We probably wont trek into town again to go here for lunch. And we probably wouldnt come back if I was in the area.
The chocolat which supposed to be thé concept of this restaurant but I am trully disapointed when I saw my dessert with à tiny bowl equivalent at 2 spoons of chocolate.👍The hazelnut waffle was super good😔I am little bit desapointed about the waffle tacos it was not tasty and not enough chocolate. It is really expensive 15dol for a waffle without taxes and tips.👎For the price I exepected something more tasty with better quality.👎Not enough chocolat🙄Tast of the chocolat was soso👍 Food presentation
I first tasted this restaurant at Philadelphia two years ago, the experience was amazing I just felt in love with their food. Yesterday was the third time visiting this restaurant but in Boston, to celebrated my birthday, everything was so good, our entrees and the dessert. I really love their food. They kept the quality in food and services. Excellent!
Absolutely loved this place! This place is all about chocolates and deserts. They also have a bar and a chocolate shop inside. They have a wide variety of chocolates and deserts on their menu. The presentation is something I was really impressed with. The ambience here is great and makes me feel like coming back every day!Its definitely a must visit place for deserts.
Insane place! Sure, it’s very chocolate focused not also great food, admittedly comfort food primarily. The quesadilla was amazing, not a heavy soggy affair, light and flakey like a thin crust pizza crust. The Mac & Cheese was excellent. Desserts were crazy, try a Hug Mug or jar dessert. Great service, fast, friendly. Lots of good choices in the area and this place won’t disappoint. Go and have some fun.
Noah behind the bar was friendly, fantastic, and made great conversation as we were the only guests at the bar at the time (1 pm on a Monday). We came in just for a sweet treat and were not disappointed! Will definitely be back to try a more substantial offering next time we are in town. Have fun in Canada, Noah!! Good luck with the music!
I usually go here only for desserts. They have a really good chocolate fondue. It comes with good options (strawberries, banana, brownie etc) and is enough for 2-3 people. If you feel adventurous you should definitely try the chocolate pizza. They also have a small shop attached to it where they sell chocolates.
Smell is amazing when you walk in the door, and its a bit downhill from there. Too loud music, food was creative and fine, but not good. Macaroni and cheese not really cheesy, and the fun sounding cheese steak on a waffle seemed like it was infused with fake syrup. Crepe was rubbery, but the chocolate salted caramel crunch on top was good. Best part was the drinks, fun flavor packed alcohol with so much sweet it was a dessert itself.I have never seen such a poor restaurant bathroom though. It was so gross I couldnt wait to leave and wouldnt even drink the hot chocolate Id been awaiting . Even the hot chocolate itself was just ok. If you want better chocolate and atmosphere go to L.A. Burdick or Tazo. Its you want more pleasant host, or useable ladies room, go anywhere else.
While worth visiting once, the Max Brenner chain has devolved into a sports-bar-type service environment with a waitstaff that is poorly trained, not at all sophisticated and just generally getting through their day. The food is still good. I had the waffle cheesesteak which is basically beef and cheese sauce in between two waffles. It was exceedingly unhealthy and I loved it. My wife had a vegetarian sandwich. She found it to be too peppery for her taste but I note she finished the whole thing. That brings up an important strategy lesson -- eat dessert first OR eat only half of your dinner and take the rest home. The desserts are far and away the highlights of Max Brenners. We had the chocolate noodles with chocolate ganache (the latter of which which they never brought out). This is milk chocolate and dark chocolate noodles made of crepe ribbons. White chocolate shavings are mixed in. We didnt get to taste it with the flagon of chocolate ganache promised on the kent since they forget and then never brought it out. We also had the molten chocolate cake. This was just average. The cake was nothing special and neither was the chocolate inside. This was to be served with a milk chocolate shot which they also forgot but was later delivered. A tiny spoonful of vanilla ice cream was also to be served with the cake but this too they forgot until we spoke up. The server was nice enough but the forgotten components of our food was too much to easily forgive. I would just say that the overall service and professionalism that should mark this restaurant (and which used to be the case in Manhattan) is clearly lacking.
Service was nice, even during busy hours our waitress was attentive. Food came relatively quickly, and it was delicious! Dessert took a long time, and to be honest it wasn’t as amazing as I was expecting. We got the celebration waffles so we got to try 3, and basically I just wanted a lot more whipped cream and sauce, and a lot less mediocre vanilla ice cream and flavorless crisps. And we didn’t get any chocolate sauce. Sad.
Max Brenners is by far the best chocolate experience that one could ask for. If youre someone that loves chocolate fondue, chocotinis, chocolate crepes, and everything chocolate this is the place to be at. I would highly recommend the sharing fondue for 2. The only item on the food menu that I would highly recommend would be their waffle fries.
Checked this place out as many of my colleagues suggested that its a must try. They have interesting desserts menu.I tried the white chocolate with Oreos and its really nice. This place also has variety of chocolates for gifting.over all had a good experience and the taste is great too.
This chocoholic died and went to chocolate heaven!
We had waffles and hot chocolate ones which were pretty good!
Good crepes but I was not very impressed with the rest of the food. I had the mac and cheese and a waffle steak sandwich.
Must see once if you are in Boston. Great food and desserts.
Pub Steak with Potato fries. Not bad. Its a cool place.
This was my first time in Boston. I went to this place mainly to try the chocolate fondue. I had fondue before at melting pot and I loved it. My experience here was a bit underwhelming. First of all the amount of chocolate they gave us was really less. We had to ask multiple times for refills. Next, they gave too much of chocolate items to dip intlo the molten chocolate. It would have been nice if they had more non chocolate stuff like bananas, cake, Graham crackers etc.
Great drinks at a steep price. Service is poor in the evening when they’re just too busy and don’t have enough staff. That being said, it’s a neat concept and the chocolate is delicious! I highly recommend the White Russian and churros!
The best hot chocolate in Boston.
Completely delicious! Could totally come there just for dessert. Very young. Would go again!
Good food, however the chocolate pizza is a disappointment. Ive been going to Max Brenner for a couple years and I was disappointed at what I was served. The presentation was great, however the pizza was way too doughy and tough to chew. The chocolate spread tased more like Nutella than their usual chocolate. Overall it tasted like I had been served bread and Nutella. On the other hand their milkshakes are amazing and they have great food, so Ill definitely be visiting again, but wont be ordering the desert pizza.
Went for a drink, great cocktails. Staff was friendly and the chocolate retail section has a delicious selection. Will have to try out their food items next time, dont Ill be disappointed
Very nice!Great concepts, great service, not completely thought through execution for some of the best concepts. For example, the tea was served in a visually striking teapot with an interesting mechanism- but the pot was made of plastic and my girlfriend noticed a plastic taste, presumably from the pot. Another example, the signature hug mug, very neat concept but ultimately my friend decided that he preferred an ordinary mug. Maybe more importantly, we shared a fondue dessert platter that was beyond generous in portions. There was so much delicious chocolate brownie, chocolate confection bars that I dont know the name of, a crepe, waffle, marshmallows and a flame to toast, and amazing white and dark chocolate fondue. A striking presentation artfully arranged around a slate platter with the dancing flame and fondue at the side- it was perfect.
Not only known for their irresistible chocolate fondue but also for their yummy food! The onion rings were crispy, though the chocolate sauce was a weird mix for me. My friend got the waffle fries, which came in a whole basket and was quite tasty. Would recommend their mayo dipping sauce for both. If youre going in a party of 2, Id just order 1 appetizer to share and either share a main to leave room for dessert. Or, you can each order a main and expect to take out leftovers because portion sizes are fairly large! I got the quinoa bowl, which was super tasty and complemented the guilt of getting onion rings and a Share for 2 Fondue later. We couldnt finish the chocolate fondue ourselves, so Id also recommend getting that for a table of 4 people to share. It was my birthday, so they brought out the fondue with a little firecracker that was quite cute and insta-worthy.
If there is a chocolate heaven then this is it (as far as I know ;)
Delicious deserts.
It was amazing! fells like being in a dream! Didnt try but I bet walls are made of chocolate too! Maybe next time.
Max Brenner has the best hot chocolate Ive ever had. If you order anything, it must be the hot chocolate.
I had the mess party desert which was amazing. It was basically a big mud cake flavour brownie with fruits and vanilla icecream scoops.
Good variety of chocolate inspired desserts and drinks.
Great food love that place. I will definitely return to that place with my cousins and relatives
Amazing food at break prices (I think the most expensive food there is $25.50 and is definitely enough for 2) and cannot be recommended enough! Wonderful atmosphere with wait staff that seem to love their jobs and beautiful decoration! Their white chocolate teas are amazing and served in fun creative ways, their food is astounding, and their desserts are to die for! Get their Fondue to Share especially, it is one of the best things I have ever tasted!
One of the best places if you are a fan of chocolate. Their deserts are really good and come in huge portion. Although the prices are on a higher side, it’s definitely worth the cost. You can expect a waiting time if you are more than 2. Overall this place is fun to enjoy your chocolate cravings.
Different. Go inside if you like specialty drinks with chocolate.
Amazing chocolate except for the stomach part afterwards combined with their lack of toilet paper.
We were pleasantly surprised at the portion sizes that we received. We enjoyed the quinoa salad and margarita pizza. The desserts were fun and delicious--we tried the waffle and the build-your-own cone. Our server was attentive and helpful. Max Brenners is an excellent choice for any chocolate-lover and would be a great date or girls night out spot.
Good place to hang out but was too noisy for kids
Now this is wrong 😂 But hazelnut chocolate was nuts 😉Early in the morning is the best time to enjoy it since it’s less crowded.
Great concept... way understaffed! Food just ok... desserts very good... had reservation for 16 people for a birthday party... waited 40 minutes for drinks ... an hour and half for food... waiter was very nice and tried but had 3 large tables and tried to do everything by himself. The fault all lies in the management! Need to do a better job!!
Prices are extremely high. With that said the desert was Amazing. We had a great time. The service was so outstanding. It was worth it. Money cant buy happiness, but it can buy three different chocolate fondues. And the smells, the smells is like what one would imagine that heaven would smell like.
Yummmy chocolate worth a stop
Great little shop if youre a chocoholic, great variety of chocolate inspired food and drink items. Came in tonight for a place to have some dessert, hot chocolate, and conversation. Music seemed loud for this type of restaurant, but my friends and I had a great time.
Very nice way to begin an otherwise chilly morning in my city - Boston. Churros y chocolate, espresso ... ah ....
We only went there for a dessert. The dessert looked and tasted good but the cookie was a little too hard because it got cold before it was served.
Mad Max meets Willy Wonka!! Kids of all ages will find something to love here!!
Went mid morning with our three your old granddaughter. There is only one way to describe this place - chocolate heaven!Service was excellent and staff friendly. Great selection of ice creams. One little observation- there were lots of fruit flies about. But that didn’t distract us from a great experience.
Went for my first time with my husband and son tonight. It was a Sunday around 4, wasnt too crowded. From the start it took a bit for a wait staff to even come over to us to see if we wanted a drink. We placed order for 2 alcohol drinks and deserts at the same time. Our food came pretty quick but we waited 20 min for the drinks to come. Our food came out before the drinks. My husbands ordered a frozen Irish coffee myself the bananas foster. His was delicious mine really was horrible. After 10 min trying to find my waitress to ask to change to the same one my husband had. I only had a sip the waitress agreed. We now waited another 15 min before telling her forget it we were now ready to leave. I have to say the fondu and the crepe was amazing the presentation was nice but it was the worst service I’ve had in a long time. Seemed like plenty of staff and wasn’t too busy. Not sure what the problem was and definitely wouldn’t be going back just because the service was so bad!
