I made a smooth transition from Dr. Pharr to Dr. McFarland.. Really miss Pat (Office staff) because the staff now has a bigger turnover every year and could work on being customer friendly. Dr. McFarland is soft spoken but gets his exams done... My appointment on 11/18/20 was a little disappointing because of the comment made by one of the staff members. Because the glasses are so expensive & over priced; I informed them its not in my budget even if my insurance paid half. I did mention where I was going with my prescription and I was told so you going to get the cheap glasses Please understand it dont matter what the cost; as long as the prescription works & I can see... I really didnt appreciate that comment from a professional staff as such.....

This is the best optometrist I have had since being in Greensboro, I am so happy I transferred to him several years ago. He did test I never knew I should have had and forwarded the results of my visit to my general practitioner... My wait time is very minimal. The staff are great.

Dont go there. If you have insurance, they will try to play games on you. Starting from the nurse, to the doctors and the door keeper - shop owner lady/employee (i dont have any idea), everyone will try to cheat on you with a very low quality services and product. Dr. McFarland is wonderful! Went to him for the last 5 years since moving to GSO. Eyeglass selection moderate at best. However, office staff turnover is high. Most recently had several poor experiences with the staff there and they were not very helpful at all. So much so that we decided to take my family of 5 elsewhere for a different eye doctor. Too bad, Dr. McFarland is terrific, staff not so much.

Dr McFarland and his staff are the friendliest ones in town. Dr. McFarland will give it to you straight, either you need new glasses or your glasses that you have are still good. Just had my first appointment at McFarland Optometry yesterday. The staff were friendly and helpful. The doctor did not keep me waiting in the exam room. No, really--- I picked up a magazine to start reading and he walked in before I found the first article. Ample parking is available and the office is convenient to Wendover and downtown. I had a very enjoyable experience and would highly recommend them.

Honestly, the best experience I’ve ever had for an eye exam. The staff were amazing, friendly, and very helpful. They helped me get the most out my insurance and made sure my preferences for frames were kept in mind. Very knowledgeable, and the front desk ladies rock! Dr. McFarland is hands down the most attentive and caring physician I’ve met (across any field of medicine). The visit was the easiest and quickest I’ve had, with no long waits like I’ve normally experienced at big chain places like LensCrafters. This was my first visit with Dr. McFarland and I have never been treated so well in a doctors office. The entire staff was very professional, and treated me very well. I feel that the services offered were appropriate and was given a referral for what Dr. McFarland thought I needed. I plan to stay with Dr. McFarland.

Glasses since age 11. Now have astigmatism and early cataract found and treated by Dr. M. Also discovered early glaucoma, treated with nightly drops. He saw my husband once and immediately identified bilateral cataracts which he has had the second one done just this week. Dr. M is so meticulous, soft-spoken, caring; after many optometrists over the years, we love this man, his bedside manner and genuine caring for his patients. Office staff is great and very supportive. Will never see another Opth again. :)
