I have never enjoyed myself this much at an eye exam. The staff is sweet and attentive, Dr. Heisler is exceptional. If there is a place among strangers that feels like coming to visit old friends, this would be it. This will be our place for my whole family. The eyewear is stylish, unique and very affordable, with our without insurance. This office is a must experience.

I have had the same pair of glasses for 4 years and they still fit well. In a world where your shoes wear out after a year and constantly having to replace products, this is such a special treat. I wish I still lived in NC so I could get another pair.

I was looking for somewhere to get an eye exam without breaking the bank since I dont have insurance. It was just slightly more expensive than where I used to go but with ten times the customer service. They are SUPER nice they explain everything theyre doing and the facility is both clean professional but also cute and homely ( gorgouse mix of clean white and barn doors) I left feeling like I understood my eye health not just trusting them that I was healthy. I wasnt even going to buy frames from them (I usually wear kids sized glasses in black or grey and all their colors and styles overwhelmed me) but they simply asked if I wanted to try on some frames without presure to buy any so I did. Im so happy I did. Because of covid they asked me questions about what I like and then what I wanted to try. The first pair she picked for me were perfect and I ended up buying them. I ended up with a pair of rounder green frames that Id never have tried on myself but they bring out my eyes in a way I never knew could be done. I LEFT FEELING SO GOOD! The kind staff were so excited for me and complimented the frames on me. They never said anything that made me think it was not genuine or tried to sell me on the more expensive frames. In fact they didnt think the most expensive ones suited me at all (I agree) Id forgotten my wallet and they helped me figure out how to pay with my phone. Nothing but amazing people and quality product. I moved back to Winston but Ill make the 45m drive for that service next time I need it.

Our family was able to schedule back to back appointments and there was no pressure to purchase glasses or contacts. Both of our experiences with Oscar Oglethorpe have been stellar.The team here has been above and beyond helpful from the moment I booked my appointment, in spite of my schedule and the pandemic. I feel like every detail - especially in dealing with my vision insurance - was handled for me and to my benefit. They have been extremely informative along every step of the process. Their onsite eye doctor performed the most easy to understand eye exam Ive ever had, and that is saying a lot as Ive had extensive medical issues involving my eyes.Given covid precautions - shopping for glasses in a sanitary way is difficult. The employee I worked with (Liz & Rebecca) picked a number of great options for me to try out, and as a glasses-novice who wants to look good - this was super helpful. I ended up loving a pair that I would have never picked out myself!I picked up my glasses today, after cancelling my scheduled fitting because my schedule is hectic. They fit me in and took time to make sure I was satisfied. I have bought my last 3 pairs of glasses from Oscar Oglethorpe, and just put in for prescription sunglasses. Shopping here is the best experience. The staff are the best. Not pushy, not driven by sales, they are truly there to help you find something that you are going to love. And their selection is funky and cool and always-changing. For my foray into sunglasses, that meant a couple trips to find the pair that I really wanted, but they never tried to sell me something else, but respected the process. A great store, happy to be a repeat customer!

My family and I have had excellent attention. We are 5 and we use lenses and contact lenses. What we like most are frames, different from other places and different from each other. The prices are very reasonable and the team that attends always has the best disposition to help and takes your time with you, answers all your questions, and has a pleasant work environment. In addition the schedule is perfect, for those who work or study, Saturday is a perfect alternative to have an exam and have your lenses at the same time. I highly recommend it for the whole family.

I had the greatest experience with Brandee today! She helped me find styles that I normally would not have picked for myself, and I was surprised how much I loved the frames that weren’t my “usual” selections. I had a hard time picking just one, as all of the frames are beautiful and unique, and I will definitely go back again for a second pair in the near future!

The frames here are the cutest Ive found in this whole region - you wont find anything like them in other shops. The combination of gorgeous design and price is phenomenal. (Ive seen selection like this in NYC and SF and Boston, but Greensboro? Really? And at this price? Unbelievable.) The people who help you choose frames are unusually good at seeing the shape of your face and your personality and finding the frames that make you look more attractive in your glasses than out of them. There were at least 4 frames they had me try on that I never would have picked up, but that were so flattering I didnt want to put them down. They also happen to be the perfect amount of friendly and helpful - unobtrusive until you want help, and supportive when the number of excellent choices is suddenly overwhelming. The optometrist is also great. I just cant say enough good things about this place. Were lucky to have them. (I posted this review on Yelp, too - hoping they stay in business so I can get more perfect eyeglasses whenever I need them.)

Greensboro is lucky to have this place! Over the past few weeks I have complimented several people on their glasses and they all said they got them from here. I usually wear contacts but I felt inspired to get some glasses! I already had a recent prescription so I brought that with me; shopping was so much fun and I love my glasses. I echo what others say - cool staff! They go above and beyond to provide great service. When my new glasses turned out to have a factory defect just a few days before I was departing for an overseas vacation, they not only immediately provided a substitute pair for my travels, they also went out of their way to make good on the replacement. This business is the opposite of experiences Ive had at other establishments that tried to charge for exam items I did not ask for and sell overpriced frames.

Oscar Oglethorpe is a TERRIFIC eyeglass shop, with an awesome selection and excellent customer service! I live many states away, but I only get my glasses from OO because I love them so much. The employees are incredibly warm and helpful, not to mention fun. (I sometimes stop in just to hang out and say hello.) Theyve repeatedly gone out of their way to make sure I have my glasses before I leave town, and that theyre well-fitted to my head. The store is comfortable and inviting, and they have a wide range of frames in many styles, colors, and sizes. I really cant recommend them enough!

The sales associate really helped me find a good, sturdy pair of glasses for this new mom of a rambunctious 2 year old. I figured they would be ugly, but they’re not and I love them! They have withstood through the terrible twos and now the three-teen stages. I went here last year for an eye exam and a new pair of glasses. Great staff. Great doctor. Really worked to make sure I got the right glasses for me. The doctor even found a hidden hole in my retina and found a specialist that took my out-of-state insurance so I could get it taken care of.

They are the best hands down for glasses selection at a fraction of the cost of most other frame stores. My only wish was that they had a better selection of kids frames.

The staff are all awesome! Helpful and friendly beyond belief. Very knowledgeable and understanding of special needs situations. I wont go to another eyewear store. EVER!

I was able to schedule an appointment within 2 weeks for an eye exam. The staff was friendly, promp, and knowledgeable. I loved the hipster vibe.

I bought a very nice frame but the lenses did not work. I wear progressive lenses; the upper section worked fine but the lower portion caused a lot of problems. My vision was distorted and I had trouble with balance whenever I had to look down. I have used progressives and bi-focals for many years, so I thought I would just have to adjust to a new prescription. However, I had to go back to using an old pair and then abandon the new ones. In fairness to Oglethorpe, they might have replaced the ones I bought, but I did not want to risk another.The price was good and the appearance was great. The customer service was great as well.

Kind staff and doctors. They were responsive to my questions and very friendly. They have a limited selection of frame choices, but helped me find something that I liked.

The opticians are very knowledgeable about your eyes, AND helpful in picking out your cool new glasses. At Walmart or the big chains, the staff seems to just want to jack up your order. They have no idea how to answer questions about your prescription. But, here, the opticians seem genuinely concerned about your sight. Also, I see better out of these glasses than those from Walmart. Its like they took the time to get it right. Plus, the prices are reasonable, its a hip downtown vibe, I receive the most thorough eye exams, a great selection of cool frames and they take my insurance. I only have one set of eyes, so I trust my sight to Oscar!

Oscar Oglethorpe is a gem! After a thorough eye exam, the knowledgeable staff was extremely patient with me while I found the right frames. Went in recently for an adjustment and they were just as gracious and accomodating. Plus, their selection of frames is large and stylish. Id highly recommend OO to anyone needing glasses.
