I have brought my car into this place many times. The staff has always been very helpful and provided great advice on what needs to be fixed versus what should be fixed. Very professional and very friendly.

I brought car in in the middle of a blizzard because my battery was giving me problems. They did a full check of the car, replaced the battery, and the tires which were worn. They did this a timely manner, gave me reasonable estimates, and preformed all the work for a reasonable cost. I totally recommend them.

Wonderful and kind service. Gives us a heads up when things look like they need to be replaced soon. Very accommodating to different schedules.

When I told them if my limited availability they made sure to get me an appointment that fit my schedule. They texted me the images to see what was going on and kept me informed since I couldnt be there due to a certain virus. Havent had any issues with my brakes since. Not cheap, but transparent in their pricing.

Pattersons service was great. The time estimate was spot on. They work hard to accommodate your schedule and the time they need for the service. They are friendly, explain everything and I feel quite comfortable booking future maintenance and repair issues.

Unfortunately, my car has needed a lot of work in the last year. Fortunately, Ive found Pattersons and Im sticking with them. Theyre always very clear about what *needs* to be done, and what should probably be done soon, and things to pay attention to. Ive found other places in Ithaca that will do some of the same work for a little less, but its become apparent its a gamble on the quality. Pattersons does great quality work, with great communication. Ill be happy when I dont have to see them as often, but Im glad theyre in town when I need them.

Super skilled and accommodating. Exceptionally reasonable pricing ... After going here, I realized how badly other shops in the area had been ripping me off. LGBT friendly. They even can communicate using txt messages. I love this place.

Tiny little shop, but always hoppin. The staff at Pattersons are friendly, patient, skilled techs. who listen to their customers, thoroughly explain their diagnoses and vehicle repair needs, and try to give customers the best, most practical advice and solutions, without feeding us BS. Im not the richest guy in town and there may be a few places that are a bit cheaper for repairs. I take my car to Pattersons because their customer service is excellent and theyve earned my trust. To me, thats everything.

Pattersons has always been reliable, honest, and fast. Everyone is really nice to work with. They explain problems well and give options. When other places couldnt solve more technical issues or could, but taking much longer or at a high price, Pattersons was always able to solve them faster and correctly the first time. I feel comfortable taking all our cars here over other places in Ithaca, especially for more than an oil change!

I appreciate the transparent and honest way they run their business. Sure, they could probably talk me into more work than necessary, but its clear they dont; for that reason, they will have my future business. Its that simple. I feel fortunate to have found a shop that takes what they do seriously and treats their customers honestly.

They have an extremely convenient location, right at the bottom of the hill and a block away from the commons. As for the service, it was tremendous. They got the job done efficiently, quickly, and produced a great product. All of the guys that work at Pattersons are extremely friendly, cracking jokes with you the entire time you are there, while keeping everything professional. I would highly recommend Pattersons if you have any automobile needs.

I have been taking my cars to Pattersons for many years, and I have never been anything but grateful for their service. I appreciate that they often alert me to possible repairs that might be coming up within the next year, so I can plan for them. They explain the details in clear language, without making me feel like Im an idiot about cars (an experience I have had at other repair shops). Setting up appointment has always been very easy, and they are wonderful about accommodating my schedule. Finding a good auto repair shop is almost as valuable as finding a good doctor, and I am happy that Pattersons has been part of my life for the past 20 years.

Gf had to get fuel lines fixed quick, so she brought it here. Quote was twice that of Trombley’s, plus they pull so many potential fixes that we don’t need. Pink tax..Decided not to go ahead. Get charged $30 just for a look anyway. Oh, and was requested to pull away quickly to not have oil spill.Go to Trombley’s instead. With the money you saved from price gouging you can take a few taxi rides.

Ive taken two of my vehicles (a 1966 Jeep and a 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser) to Pattersons: Im pleased with the quality of the work, the fair rates, and the communication. As you read the rest of this review, it might be helpful to know that I do much of my own auto repairs but have limited time, tools, and even knowledge to do all the repairs needed on my own vehicles.For my two vehicles, Pattersons has been my go-to shop from 2015 - the present. Ive previously tried a dealership in town, a muffler shop, and another independent auto repair shop. Pattersons is by far the best.What makes Pattersons different--and, in my opinion, superior?Pattersons has the best communication of any service station Ive ever used for my vehicles. Via phone calls and/or text messages, I get updates at all the critical points in the process:1. Beginning: when I drop my vehicle, Pattersons is clear about when they expect to get to my vehicle.2. Middle: I receive an estimate before work begins and get updates along the way when things go as planned or when Pattersons finds additional issues. Pattersons asks whether I want to proceed if the costs will exceed what weve already discussed.3. Went in for what I thought was a flat because of a nail head in the tread of one of my tires. Turned out the issue was actually the manufacturer not putting any bead sealant on the tire at all. They diagnosed it immediately and squeezed me in during the last few hours of the work day. The guys there are straightforward and helpful. Would recommend

We have been bringing our cars to Pattersons for many years. They do excellent prompt work. They are always able to tell us what needs immediate fixing and what other options would work. They look for used parts if you want or supply new parts quickly if that is what is best. They are honest. They are knowledgeable. They are kind. They take good care of their customers. I have a very good experience at Pattersons. Went to other places for state inspection and was told to do $1000+ repair on brakes and other things to pass inspection. However, Pattersons told me brakes are good and no repairs are needed at all. They also polished my dirty headlight with a reasonable price. Recommend to all in Ithaca and I wish I had known this auto shop more earlier.

Terrible, try to pull the wool over your eyes, charge you for every sneeze, sneaks.If you go here be aware ALL quotes over the phone are for parts only not labor; superfluous items such as windshield wiper fluid will be performed and charged; they list parts at a ridiculous price; they will try and tell you to buy service you dont need. . . However I cant comment too much on the quality of mechanic services rendered.For example;I brought my car in for some standard maintenance and one repair. The repair was an issue I had identified and had determined the necessary fix. Over the phone repair and maintenance was quoted $150+$90. 2 hrs before closing, they call to tell me that that I need a part I really dont need and it will cost $400 for just the repair. I deny the work and when I come to pick up the car I find that the quote for maintenance was parts only, labor is added on after, they even charge 6$ for .25 gallons of wiper fluid which I never asked for. They also charge me $50 for the inspection of the repair part that they tried to upsell me another part on, which I subsequently denied any service. Seriously, they tried to sell me a $89 part for $200. So all in all I was quoted $150 for repair $90 for maintenance, I ended up paying $160 for just maintenance.I get they are trying to make money, but you have to have integrity.

Ive been a Pattersons customer for over a decade, and maybe closer to two decades. They have kept my 2002 Subaru going strong. This last time I was in just for an inspection. I was able to set up the appointment with a quick text message, and the appointment was for just when I wanted. During the inspection they noted a problem underneath the car, but didnt pressure me to have it repaired right away or even at Pattersons. They simply told me that while it would have to be repaired at some point, it was not an immediate problem.

Poor service, poor customer relations. A big change from previous owners/management who were always helpful, friendly and cared about their clientele. Sorry to see this business decline.

These guys are simple THE BEST. Very knowledgeable, quick, friendly, and reasonably priced. There are no after-shocks! I went to the Honda dealer and got a quote that was almost twice as much for the work my car needed. Save your money and go to Pattersons. Managers humor included at no extra cost.

I had a rental car with the tire pressure light on. Mike was very friendly and kind in checking my tires quickly and didn’t charge me for the pressure check. Being from out of town and with a rental it was nice to have my anxiety lessened at Patterson’s!

We have relied on Pattersons for car repairs and maintenance for many years. High quality work and attention to the customer have been constants, even through the change in management. Recently, we were notified that the filter used in an oil change had come from a batch that was later found to be defective. When we returned the car for maintenance, the crew at Pattersons discovered that the filter on our car had failed badly, and had probably resulted in damage to the engine. At that point we had only noticed the engine running slightly rougher and noisier, something that we attributed to engine aging. Mike immediately replaced the filter (at no cost), but also pursued the problem with the manufacturer, eventually arranging for an engine replacement, with cost covered by the filter manufacturer. The the noise is gone and the car runs like new. Mike had to put a lot of time into communications with the manufacturer and the paperwork to arrange the repair. Impressive.

I love having my Prius serviced by Pattersons Service Station. Their service is courteous, timely, experienced and cost effective for all makes and models of cars. They have kept my Prius with 104,000 miles in fantastic shape - from brakes, to springs, to tires, snow tires, and the regular service repairs and oil changes. I trust Pattersons implicitly to care for my car, because every time you get behind the wheel, you have to feel that your car is in tip top shape and has been carefully evaluated for any repairs that might compromise your vehicle.The guys at Pattersons are honest, experienced and best of all, fun guys to visit at their shop on N. I would love to love Pattersons, but I dont. Yes, they are understanding when you need something in a rush, and yes, they are right downtown. But the bad attitude (condescension, crabbiness) of the guys up front, including the owner, is keeping me away. (The mechanics who work in the garage seem very friendly, though.) Theres also the fact that they tried to charge me over $300 for a part that I got at NAPA for $110 (yes, it was the exact same part). I can deal with jerks if the price is right, and I can deal with exorbitant markups if the people are cool, but uncool jerks with high prices make for a losing combination. Go someplace else and have a nicer experience.

I took my cat to Pattersons for a simple inspection. They said I Failed NY inspection and they quoted me at $2000 of repairs to pass. It felt a little fishy so I got a second opinion. The other mechanic passed me for $200 dollars worth of work and told me that some of the items on the paperwork from Pattersons dont even exist. Seems like a price gouge to me. What do you think?

Its a top notch shop, although you pay for the quality work you get. Collegetown Bagels is a block away while you wait too.

Nathan and the crew provided great customer service and were forthcoming with any information I asked for.I called ahead for a dual headlight replacement for a Subaru Forester and was told that those cars require extra work to get to the lights and so would take about an hour/hour and a half. I brought the car in and spoke with the same person as on the phone, Nathan. My car was ready for pick up before their estimated time. After the pick up I noticed that my passenger day time running light was no longer working. Since I didnt do a proper inspection before handing it in, I couldnt be sure if it just burned out or maybe the crew made a mistake. Nathan happily told me to bring it over, and together with a mechanic showed me how they went about fixing my headlights, how they couldnt have damaged the daytime running light in that way, and even replaced it for me free of charge.Pricing: ~$60 for parts, ~$30 for labor.tl;dr Brought in my car for a dual headlight fix, was concerned garage service might have damaged a daytime running light. Was politely but categorically shown that the light had just burned out and was unrelated to the headlight service, and was then offered the extra fix free of charge anyway.Not an Ithica resident, but if I was this would be my regular garage.

I was in Ithaca for the day when I noticed my car leaked out the oil so I stop to buy 6qts from this place and they charged me $85.00 for the 6qts this place is the biggest rip off Ive ever been to if I wasnt is such desperate need I would have waited till I found a Walmart or something. Dont ever go to this place theyll rob you blind.

I have an older car and I received clear, helpful, and honest information and explanations about options, what repairs would not be worth the money at this point, and, as always, excellent, reliable, and prompt service maintaining my car for as long as possible.

Great mechanics

They wanted to charge me 50 dollars to take down a static cling window film ( something that take literally 5 seconds to do) ... and 40 dollars to replace wiper blaze .... all of it served with an attitude ... so I went and got my car back took down the film in 3 second time and took it to another place where I got wiper replaced for 20 .... what a rip off
