Thank you Christine!! My wife loves her new custom made mask. You went above and beyond with your excellent customer service and we greatly appreciate you and your team. I have shared my experience with many of my friends and family members and they are all blown away by your love and kindness. Thank you!
Great place for any outdoor sport in the Steamboat Springs area. Our salesperson, John, did a fantastic job of giving us options for what we needed. We left purchasing YakTrax, hiking boots and covered-finger mittens. Spencer, the cashier, was friendly and efficient.
I needed a last minute backpack for hunting season and they had the Mystery Ranch frame in my size but not the color way I wanted. The staff offered to swap bags on the frames even though they were mismatched colorways to make things work for me and get the sale on the pack. Most stores wouldnt do this as it left them with a mismatched bag. This is the kind of customer service that makes a small resort town store worth the money.
Best fly fishing shop in town… Andy Janoski is by far the best professional guide I’ve used in the 12 years I have been coming to the boat. Great personality, teaches/coaches, makes sure you’re having fun, and caught fish all day long.
As a guide in town for a different outfitter I can honestly say this shop is awesome. From the gear they stock to the guides and retail personnel they employee, top notch. I come in for bugs, gear and intel all the time and could not say more about what these guys have to offer. Do yourself a favor and stop by Straight Line before you hit the water next.
Smaller store with a good selection of hunting fishing and hiking.
Had some young people working and figured they wouldnt be much help. Boy was I wrong. The customer service was excellent and friendly. They answered our questions and they were very knowledgeable.
We did a half day guided fly fishing trip with Spencer as our guide, to public access locations. It was an incredible experience! Spencer really knows his stuff, as well as knowing the area. He took us to 2 locations and fish were caught at both. Highly recommend this outfitter.
This company is awesome! I placed an order last week and the wrong item arrived. Instead of asking me to ship a return they sent the right item to me free of charge and I kept the first item. Highly recommend using them :)
We went to this shop to buy some flies and learn about how to be successful fishing locally. We had two employees who spent time explaining what flies to buy and how to set up our rig properly. We went out the next morning and caught some beautiful rainbow trout! I can’t thank them enough for pointing us in the right direction and turning this vacation into one we’ll never forget!
The guy that helped us was very helpful and didnt hesitate to stop what he was doing and help us. They had a lot of good stuff there.
The employees here are the best. Not being from the area needed some advice on areas to fly fish and the proper Flys. Their suggestions were right on for both. If you want to get good local advice this is the place.
Excellent customer service. They outfitted our family with rentals and were great with out kids! Easy to work with and great pricing. We will definitely do ski rentals with them again.
Very friendly staff and great prices. Had a great experience here, highly recommend.
I’ve been shopping at Straightline for years now and it is the go to spot in Steamboat for skiing essentials. They have great seasonal sales and I was able to snag a discounted Patagonia jacket that I use to layer for skiing. I would recommend this shop to anyone!
The shop has lots of great stuff and affordable rentals. But the guy who helped with the rentals was very condescending and really only an expert on mansplaining. Not a fun experience. Enter the 21st century dude, insecure man is not a good business model
This is the fly shop I had hoped to find on my vacation. Spencer was friendly and knowledgeable about the river conditions and productive fly patterns. If youre there to hunt or fish, theyre likely to have anything you need that will make your trip more enjoyable. There is an archery section as well however I have no experience with their bow tech.
I took my son to Straightline to pick up some spin cast fishing rod and gear last weekend, and everyone there was super responsive and helpful. They even recommended a few places we should try in the area, and recommended some lures as well. Great place and great people !
Great help picking out clothes
Steve and Andy took our family of five fly fishing in November. We meet them at the store front and they drove us to a beautiful fly fishing site on an old homestead. Although we enjoy the fishing in Florida, most of us had never been fly fishing. They took their time teaching us the proper way to cast the line and “dance” with the fish once we had set the hook. They worked very hard trying to make sure every one in our group caught a trout. The super star was our 20 year old daughter who caught 7! Overall, we had a wonderful day and would highly recommend this trip for anyone who is interested in fly fishing!
Awesome.
I have lived in steamboat 20 years and always support local businesses when i can. I also understand how expensive a mainstreet location is and how expensive labor costs are in this town. That being said; i expect things to be a little more pricey when shopping in steamboat. However, a 55% mark-up from MSRP pricing is criminal. I purchased some nockturnal lighted arrow nocks before archery season. The manufacturers suggested retail price is 25$...after i left the store i checked my receipt because i felt over charged. They charged me 44.99$ for the 25$ pack of nocks (x2 packs). Just because you are literally the only place selling archery supplies within 45 miles in any direction, does not mean you can blatantly rip people off. Straightline is taking advantage of out of town archers because they know hunters have no other choice than to pay up. To anyone coming here to hunt archery...make sure u have everything u need to hunt and backup arrows, nocks, release, and that your bow is dialed in and ready for week long hunts. Otherwise, bring your credit card and be ready to bend over and take it....the point of this review isnt to facelessly bash straightline...its to bring attention to issues that need fixing... it takes many many bad experiences before i waste my time writing a review. This was not the only instance ive had issues at straightline....fix the price, respond professionally to my review and refund me the 40$ you overcharged me and this review will dissappear. Let me know when youd like me to stop by for my refund.
We (my dad, and my son and myself) did a fly fishing trip through them. Ben was a top notch guide. He helped us get into some amazing fish. He is fun to talk to and incredibly knowledgeable about the area. He always had a plan if we weren’t catching fish. I would highly recommend anyone who wants to have fun in the steamboat mountains fly fishing do it. Thank you for
Great, friendly service. Super knowledgeable regarding fishing and flies catered to the area. Beautiful knives, especially switchblades (newly legal in Colorado), which one of the guides was happy to show us without any pressure to buy- just sharing more knowledge when we expressed curiousity! Highly recommend.
Great shop with quality merchandise. Staff is what sets it apart. Friendly and knowledgeable. Fished with Patrick last time. Hes the real deal as a guide. Great time on the river.
Great staff great prices
Always friendly and knowledgeable staff. If you got a question then they probably have the answer.
Great place. Rewards program if you are a local is nice, also good selection of benchmade knives.
Ive worked here for about 6 months. Enjoy my Bosses and co-workers. Their knowledge on products and all things fishing & hunting are vast.
Easy in, easy out for snowshoe rentals. Very friendly and helpful service. Located right downtown and about 1.6 miles from Fish Creek Falls -- a definite must see. Many hikers were trying to do it in just boots and stepping 3 feet deep in the melting snow -- much better with snowshoes.
Weve been visiting Straightline for a few years now (back to 2013), and have always been very happy with the staff and the store itself. Between picking up a rod to replace a broken one (a rambunctious pup while tying flies in), picking up flies thatatch the hatch, to using their guides, weve been very happy. This year we realized that they also have a bow shop, camouflage, and hunting gear (theyre THE spot in Steamboat if you need any Sitka gear).Over labor day we used two of their guides for a few friends that flew in from California and New York--they were new to fly fishing, yet everyone caught some fish and were able to cast reasonably well by the end of the day--. Well be back again to use their guides, if that says anything. Thanks for being such a great asset to Steamboat and the hunting/fishing community!
Great place to rent skis in Steamboat. Good prices and great service. Nice selection of outdoor clothing and accessories they also rent bikes in the summer and do guided fishing trips. Very nice local business.
Professional, friendly and knowledgeable. Nice shop with everything you need to enjoy the outdoors.
If I ever have a little too much money I just come here and buy some flies and leaders. I then have to leave vacation and go back and work. Good guys that k ow whats up.
By far the best place to rent skis and snowshoes! The customer service is always above our expectations and we will always come here and recommend to all visitors! Thank you all!
Amazing little store for hunting and fishing needs
Brett is the man! I live in Pennsylvania and I was in Steamboat for vacation. I saw a pair of shorts there that I loved and didnt pull the trigger on. After I was home from vacation I tried to find them on the internet and other stores and no one had my size. I called Straightline and spoke to Brett. He took the time to call the manufacturer for me and was able to order a pair in my size. Not only did I get my shorts, but he shipped them across the country to PA for reasonable fee. Great store and great people!
Great place to rent equipment! Always a quick, easy, uncomplicated process. Its usually not too busy. They only rent Volkl skis. They have a wide variety of outdoor equipment and clothing with an emphasis on fishing gear.
Knowledgable staff with an eye for detail, they took the time to make sure we got what we needed. Would shop again.
Very nice store and the owners are excellent very helpful helpful to pick out equipment and to where to go could not say enough good things about the shop or the people that work there
John did a terrific job in getting my daughters bow fixed up +++++
2nd time renting here and they are always helpful and knowledgeable... not to mention they have better prices than everywhere else that we looked.
Went in to try on some shoes. Had to wait for the salesman to talk to a buddy. Very rude and inconsiderate. Will be buying my Crispi boots somewhere else with better customer service.
Great service from guys there. Put me on fish right away with the right flies .
Brothers in da house!!!!!! Always great service. Forget the dooshbags at flyfisher.
Great local shop for outdoor gear and clothes. Prices are competitive and selection is decent.
Really helpful staff.
Went out for fly fishing tour with Steve Henderson as our guide..the day was perfect start to finish..plenty of fish and all the help when needed..a great break after 3 straight days of skiing and then back to the slopes the next day
Purchased 2 fly rods. Excellent prices for high end rods. Very knowledgeable and helpful staff on both equipment and flys.
A lot of sporting goods in a small corner store. They helped me get back to fishing by fixing a broken rod tip. Some good deals at their sidewalk sale too.
Great place for fishing info and gear.
Great for hunters, hikers and skiers
Great Fly Shop and outdoor gear carries a lot of high-end stuff prices are a little high as expected
Friendly staff. Nice selection of camping gear, fishing and hunting gear.
Super selection of high end mens & womens sporting gear & clothing; Simms, Kuhl, Sitka, Patagonia, etc. They also do snowboard & ski rentals, sell hunting tags and you can book fly fishing trips (ask for Steve Henderson, hes great!) Everyone in the store is very helpful, a must stop in Steamboat!
The service here is terrible! Being ignored while employees shop and talk amongst themselves is a huge negative for me. If you like that elitists feel with little to no customer service this is the shop for you! I have no personal experience with guided trips but, have heard positives about those. You throw the dice.
Great selection of gear and clothing. My poor credit card is getting a workout here.
I rented some snowboarding gear from Straightline online about a month in advance of my trip to Steamboat. When I got there, they told me they didnt have a board for me and that Id have to go to another store that they werent affiliated with down the street. They were extremely apologetic and gave me a full refund, but they still majorly dropped the ball. Luckily the other store had a snowboard for me or my trip wouldve been ruined. I get that sometimes gear is in short supply and high demand, but next time please find a way to inform people that you dont have gear available prior to the morning they show up to ski.
Ive given straight line many opportunities, but yet again they have fallen short. Lets start with the beginning of the summer....I purchased over $100 of flies and enrolled in their frequent shopping program to earn point to applie to future purchases. Next, time I come in theres no record of me in the system. Oh well no big deal so I move on and I sign up, again. Next time I come in I have Jake, nice guy, set my bow up for me. Jake does a great job. Only issue I have is During our 2 hour session Jake takes three 10 minutes phone calls, and conducts business with numerous customers as well as non stop texting. Again these are all non issues for me except Jake was charging me $50 a hour for his time. I was under the impression when we made our appointment youd be working with me, and not conducting other business. Just seemed unprofessional. Again, I didnt make a fuss and let this slide and moved on. Well few weeks down the road I came back in to get some arrows made. Gave Straightline my arrow and asked if they could make me more like the ones I was already shooting. I come back the next day, and of course I didnt get what I wanted. They made me the completely wrong arrow setup. It was a better setup, but still not what I asked for. Well Jake did try and do right by me and reduced the cost some what, but the cost was still more than it would have been had they made the arrows I asked for in the beginning. I get it accidents happen, so I didnt get upset of complain. I thanked him for the deal, and moved on.If you cant tell Im not one to burn bridges over small incidents, but today was the last straw. Yesterday I came in, and purchased a fancy arrow rest. One that drops down. The gentleman that sold it to me asked if I wanted to come back by at the end of the day to pick up my bow. I told him I could wait, and asked what would be a good time tomorrow to pick the bow up tomorrow. Gentleman suggested 10 would be good. I arrived today at 1 pm. Bow wasnt ready. I explain I was made a promise, and someone needs to stand behind that promise. All I got was we are real sorry, Jakes real busy. I get it...its bow season, but that isnt the point. Im also really busy, and Im also the one paying for the service. I was told something, and you didnt follow through for me. So yes I finally became annoyed today, and asked for my money back and took my bow some where else. Ill drive a little farther for bow equipment and maintenance if it means integrity and honesty. Get it together boys Im not the only local thats grumbling about you folks.
One of my favorite gear stores in Steamboat. Amazing selection of fishing gear.
Went in, bought some stuff, shot the proverbial shoot and stayed too long. Friendly folks, wealth of knowledge in that store.
Thank you for your outstanding service!
Extremely helpful staff and good selection of hunting gear and apparel.
Really cool place with lots of equipment. And a very helpful staff
I use this place as a fishing tackle store. But it sells a lot more than that.
Friendly staff. Nice selection of goods. And the ski rental prices are the cheapest in town.
Knowledgeable staff and a wide selection make this a great place to go to get outfitted for a fly fishing trip in the Steamboat Springs area.
These guys were extremely nice and helpful to an out-of-town fisherman they put me on to the right lures and where to use them. Theyre fantastic!
Great and friendly service.

Straightline is one of favorite downtown shops, especially when it comes to their sale weekends. Great products and helpful staff!
Good service, great rewards program.
I would give this place 0 stars if it were possible. There are plenty of competitors in Steamboat and I will gladly spend my money at those locations.
