I actually enjoyed filling out the big pile of paperwork with him because he takes the time to learn more about you and to talk to you and share stories back and forth. He made the process as quick as he could. He has so much knowledge of the vehicles on their lot and answered every single question I could think of. I highly recommend buying a vehicle from him!

The service group should not be trusted. My son brought his 2009 Forester in to fix a stalling problem. The shop told him both(?) cat converters needed to be replaced, plus some other minor work, at an estimated $8-10,000 cost! Guess they felt it was OK to rob an out of state college student with no knowledge of such things.Luckily he took the car to another reputable repair shop - found and replaced the MAF sensor and a filter, repaired any leaks - for a total $945.Needless to say Maguire will not be used for any future service.

Bought my first car here two weeks ago. It was the best price I could find and the only Outback they had on the lot, but had some minor paint damage. They fixed it up and had it in my hands a week earlier than I expected, going the extra mile to make sure that everything was taken care of and I was satisfied. My salesman Cameron was extremely responsive and upstanding, even after the car had been driven off the lot. Thank you for an overall great experience!

In spite of a shortage of new 2022 Outbacks, Thomson Khan (sales consultant) did everything possible to ensure I was a satisfied customer. Additionally, Cory Olivares (General Sales Manager) was hands on throughout the buying process and ensured any concerns I had were completely resolved. Cory was extremely knowledgeable, professional, and personable. His communications / interpersonal skills are outstanding as well as his product knowledge. The concern that Thomson and Cory had for top customer satisfaction was obvious and they projected a very professional image for both Maguire and Subaru.

I was due to travel and was worried about a wheel bearing. In a VERY short time frame the service department got me in to take a look at it and do a thorough check before my trip. We traveled over an hour to make a deal on a used crosstrek and our salesman Alex made it all worth the trip. He made it possible to get us the best deal that he could. He was very comfortable to talk to, like talking to a family member. His great personality sold us ! Thumbs down to your detailing department. The cars interior looked clean on the surface while we were there. When we got it home upon further inspection we saw food crumbs under the seats and in the console area. There was very small, white dog hairs stuck everywhere to the carpet side of the back seats. We also found a used roll of paper towels in one of the seats pouches. It took me over an hour to clean it up to the way it should have been. Thanks to all my hard work, It`s now a beautiful car and we love it.

I dont have good credit, so I was concerned about trying to purchase a newer vehicle. Maguire Subaru of Ithaca made the entire process so easy and stress free. They will work with you to make sure you get the car you need. I recently had some issues with my breaks and since I had recently made a purchase agreement with them, they replaced the breaks at absolutely no cost to me! Thats real customer service!

We couldn’t be happier with the service and product from Maguire Subaru of Ithaca! Three days before vacation our 2010 Forester broke down and we could not get it repaired in time for our trip. We decided it was time for a new Forester and found the perfect one at Maguire. Our salesman Alex was fantastic! He stayed late on Wednesday to get our paperwork processed to ensure we could close on the car by Saturday, just in time for our trip. Alex was patient, professional and very knowledgeable. Our check engine light came on as we were leaving town to return home after vacation in Ithaca. We stopped into the service center on what was clearly a fully scheduled/busy Saturday afternoon and they were still able to help us get back on the road within just a couple of hours. I had to bring my vehicle in to the dealership service center for some recalls, and I also had a check engine light come on so I asked them to simply scan it to determine why the light was on. Bryan the gentleman I dealt with was excellent. Very friendly and efficient. This is not Bryan’s fault, but he informed me that in order to scan for the code, it would be a $130 charge. This is the third vehicle that I have purchased from Maguire, and I can’t believe that they would charge me a dime for doing this while I was there. I called my local mechanic and he said to bring it in and he’d check it for free. Ironically, when I picked up my car, the check engine light was off. Maybe the light had something to do with the recalls- I am not sure. I am giving 4 stars because Bryan is top notch (he gets 5 stars), but the service center management knocks it down to 4. I avoid this service center for the very reason that they are thieves when it comes to always finding something to charge people for, and always charging too much. I may buy my next car somewhere else.

Did a NY state inspection, Engine oil exchange, Brake Fluid exchange, and 2 recalls. The work was done very fast. I sent my car at 10AM and it was done by 1:30PM on the same day (according to the service). They somehow couldnt reach my phone that day (I think they called wrong number) so I got my car back the next morning. Overall a good experience.

My experience was a mixed bag. First off, it was difficult to get an appointment for the two recalls. They hardly ever answer the phone in service anymore & you have to leave a message which no one ever returns. I did finally get one. Upon arrival, they didnt know that I had been promised a loaner. That took a bit to get one, but I did get one. The loaner was great. I had been promised my car by around noon. To their credit, they did call when they knew it would be late & called when it was ready. They were able to take care of my air conditioner problem & didnt lie about needing something it didnt. They didnt make up any service needs for the car that werent needed. The other thing that really isnt Maguire is that Subaru never sent me any notices that I needed to bring the car in for the two recalls.

I went to Maguire Subaru in Ithaca for some standard service and inspection, and found that I would need new brakes very soon. Because Brian, the service manager, was able to let me use a loaner car, I decided to have it done right then, since I could go home without having to call a friend (I live about 50 min away). Then things got complicated. The young woman, new at the job, who gave me the quote over the phone made a substantial mistake, and did not call back when she found it in preparing the final bill, so I returned to discover a total about $350-400 more than I expected. It was difficult even for the experienced assistant on duty to figure out where the new assistant had gone wrong in quoting so much lower an estimate. Brian stepped in to figure it out, and very honorably adjusted the bill so as not to exceed what I’d been told. This is an approach to doing business that has become all too rare. Of course, my commitment to Maguire for cars and service is if anything stronger as a result of this, and I can recommend them (as I do) with even greater enthusiasm. Thank you to Brian and the Maguire service team!

Make sure you ask for actual final out the door pricing before you get too far along. They will try to make it look like it will be cheaper than it actually will be. Somehow the total came out to be 5k more than the price we were first shown. Second time Ive had this experience at a Maguires dealership. If the price seems too good to be true it probably is. Also the first car we looked at smelled horribly of cigarette smoke. 🤷

The representative, Jim, listened carefully to my question and responded with a careful comparison of my present with my previous car and how it would affect winter performance. It was exactly what I needed to know. The Pleasant: We LOVED working with Alex. Hes the best you should all go ask for him and he should get a raise because hes the best. He somehow got us to agree to lease a Hyundai Ioniq Electric and even though it wasnt what we were looking for at all we are so into it! Also, how did we end up with 2 cars? Really we arent bougie, the lease was just a really great deal- costs less than our cell phone bill.The Annoying: Their prices are consistently more (1-3k) than dealerships in the area like Elmira and Sayre. They will NOT negotiate even just a few hundred off to make someone feel like they are getting a deal. I am a little dissapointed in the used outback we ended up with and there wasnt really a way to return it even just a few days after we bought it. I guess buying a car is like buying a house. Once you have the keys its yours. Ive never bought from a dealership so who knew? (You probably did.) We tried to exchange it but didnt really like what they had in stock over the one month we had to exchange it. Not really their fault. I mean its not a bad car just ended up not really being the right one.All in all, I think the only way we will shop there again is if we get to work with Alex. If hes not there, Im gonna drive the 40 minutes out of Ithaca and save a couple thousand on my next car.

Be sure to wear a good mask if you go to Maguire Subaru. The employees could often be seen with their masks below their nose or chin. While they wore masks when directly talking to customers, evidently no one has informed them that virus particles can remain in the air and infectious for hours. The behavior I observed would have them suspended from Cornell if they were students.

I hate posting this, but my experience at Maguire Subaru could not have been worse. It was an ordeal that lasted over two months and never resulted in my Impreza being fixed; I ended up taking it to Parmenter (in Montour Falls) - and they were fantastic.I took my Impreza in to Maguire three times for the same issue which was an engine and oil problem (all of the internal lights were on every time I took the car in). Each time it was not fixed and took weeks on end for them to inspect it and communicate anything to me. The service steps were not communicated well and the service manager was new to Maguire, once I was able to get ahold of him. The two-month long experience, as a customer, was aggravating and disappointing, truly terrible. I cannot more highly recommend to take your Subaru to another location for service.

The used car we purchased was in good shape and at a reasonable price. I saw cheaper out of town, but it wasnt worth the trips and time to save the small difference in price. They made the purchase simple and easy, handling all the paperwork efficiently with minimal effort on our part. Our sales person was friendly, helpful, and very easy to work with. Ive purchased from Maguire before, and expect to do it again.My only criticism keeping this from a 5-star experience is way they offered the various protection plans at the end. After I provided very clear guidance on the monthly payment goal, they came back with 4 alternatives, all higher than what I specified, with different and inconsistent combinations of months and packages. It just felt like smoke and mirrors. Even if I HAD been interested in one of the extended protection packages, I probably would have declined it just out of spite, after that presentation.Maguire has heard the message that people dont like dickering, and offer fixed pricing on the price of the car. I think they need to finish hearing the message and stop playing these games at the end with the protection plans. I know its an important part of their margin, but its being presented in an annoying way. Offer the packages in a clear, consistent way, and let us decide.

Last night my power lift gate for my brand new 2020 Subaru Forester wouldn’t close. In fact there seems to be no power to the door at all! First thing this morning I called service and explained I am 5 hours from home and on vacation and she told me to bring it right in. I was so scared this was going to take days and I am leaving tomorrow for home.As soon as I got there the sweet girl and her service advisor partner came to my car and after a few buttons pressed it was working again. I regret not getting their names and thanking them even more-they were amazing and truly great at what they do! I would 100% go to this service department and can only hope the one near home has amazing employees as this one did!!

I have taken two different subarus to them this year. The first time the front of the car was making noise. I took it in and they said nothing was wrong and a week later the brakes literally fell off the car. I took my other subaru (outback) in for a 90,000 mile service and I asked specifically because the low tire pressure light was on. I received the car back after supposedly having the 90,000 mile service (which include rotating and checking the tires) and the light was still on. I checked the air pressure and they were low. I went back and they fixed the problem (which is why 2 stars instead of 1).I would recommend looking at other shops as it seems they lack attention to detail.

I live in Texas but my daughter goes to college at Cornell and has a Subaru with her. Dealers in my city are known for being very expensive with their repairs and I assumed it was like that everywhere. But, Maguire did a great job at a good price. We took our car in for an inspection after which we discovered a tear in the leather of the driver’s seat. We are still waiting for a call back after reporting the damage and submitting photos. Employee insisted that our recall repair was already done when we knew it hadnt been. Turns out she wrote down the VIN incorrectly, which we had to figure out and explain to her. Good thing we didnt believe her and go away with a faulty airbag. She also had her mask down unless someone was directly at the desk with her. I see this is a recurrent issue based on other reviews. Shame on Maguire.

The techs THREW my fruit, candy, car charger, keys etc. That i had in my ceter consel into the trunk. Yes they threw them. At first i thought they were stolen (as the chager was brand new) but were later discovered in the trunk area. One of the apples was thrown so hard it broke open. I called to complain and the manager offered his apologies. I will never bring my subaru back here.
